Going back and watching this, you realise how underrated this match is when compared to other recent grand finals. Cats kicking away in the last qtr doesn't take away from the battle that took place in the first 3
@MUFC mate are you really that insecure about your precious sport that you spend your days commenting on every single AFL video? You need help my friend
Like anything extreme , your views on the place of football are mildly disturbing. The no.1 sport in every country by 2100 ? For a starter there’s over 1 billion people ( A 5th of the worlds population) in India that would probably disagree with you. Calm down and take a few deep breaths would be my suggestion.
yeah this is easily one of the top 5 grand finals of the 21st century. I still enjoy coming back and watching this as a collingwood supporter, because these days AFL isn't as good to watch. This era is amazing
Most underrated goal ever . There's a clip however where Mathew Lloyd says "it will go down in grand final folk lore" and it should. It wins any goal of the year hands down and the importance of it is undeniable . What a star ! 🌟
25:27 "HAWKINS again! Oh this amazing, who is this man, where has he come from?" Dairy farms send their regards. Breakout game for the hawk. Will be missed, thanks for your service
Cats ran away with it in the last quarter, but my goodness those first 3 quarters were setting up what could have been the greatest grand final of all time!
running away with it and allowing the fans to celebrate during the final quarter is arguably more epic. This was a better grand final than 2005 and 2018, both had famously close endings 2006 and 2011 are 2 of the best -collingwood supporter
How good! Absolutely smashed them in the last qtr! Didn’t even score a goal Collingwood!! I was there- greatest sporting day of my life- nothing better than beating Collingwood in a Grand Final. Go Cats!!!
@MUFC SBS is the world game. Yes soccer is the biggest sport around the world. Go Manchester United. AFL and cricket is the biggest sports in Australia.
@MUFC How fucking sad and pathetic is your life. Every time I watch an AFL video I see you posting the same crap. If that's all you've got to contribute that's fine. Then why do keep commenting on AFL videos, not insecure much are you.
MUFC is a fkn cock sucking flog!! Says the same shit on any sport post other than soccer.. What a pathetic loser with to much time on his hands.. Get a job u fkn wanker!!
I remember watching this game thinking the fact Collingwood kept kicking goals from 50m was the only thing keeping them in it, and watching this now that was so true lol
I missed the good old days of the AFL on Channel 10. After Channel 10 lost the AFL, it was game over 100%. Channel 10 never recovered after they lost the AFL rights.
Probably the best sporting day of my life- beating Collingwood anytime is good, but in a grand final it’s just so fucking good. I was there and nothing will ever top that experience.
This video is poorly edited or if not it shows without a doubt there’s no reason he deserved the norm smith. Can’t remember the day off the top of my head but i remember clear as day I tripped balls when he won the norm smith. Doesn’t even get 10 possessions as a starting mid who is a Brownlow medallist aswell. Hawkins Varcoe and Johnson had more footy and kicked 3 aswell. But as I said it’s either the undeniable proof he didn’t deserve to win it or that this video is poorly edited and takes away what was his “norm smith performance”... which if he did deserve I wouldn’t deny but is just disrespectful to leave out the proof in the pudding footage that convinces those who question or need reassurance looking back on it that he did deserve it, but from what’s provided here, you would think he is the least deserving norm smith winner since the award was introduced in 79. Other one I question is Ryan o’keefe but id have to rewatch 2012 to clarify on that comment but from memory and what I can see those two are the least deserving medals handed out.
This game was the absolute best the cats beat Collingwood in the 2011 grand final great win cats I was at that grand final cheering on the mighty cats let's go the cats
I think season's have become more close, more unpredictable in their games as of recent, however grand final's have still been quite obtuse in the scoreline differences. Definitely the 2008-2011 grand finals were so epic in their closeness and spectacle.
Probably due to the fact that from 2013 to 2017, the GF matchups were: Freo vs Hawks. Sydney vs Hawks. West Coast vs Hawks. Sydney vs WB. Adelaide vs Richmond. In all of those matches, it has been a home side against an interstate team. The trend seems to give the impression that travelling to a GF may have an impact on game day. Or, the interstate teams that made it were simply switched off on the day because in most of those years, the interstate teams that lost beat the team that won in a previous matchup that year. The MCG is proving to be a fortress for Richmond atm and if they make it again, well, there's no point lol. The 2012 GF is probably an exception, the Hawks lost it from inaccuracy. The 2011 one was Geelong being the better team on the day. 2010 similar story. 2009 GF is probably one of the best GFs I have seen. 2008 was a year Geelong let slip. 2007, well, lol. Interstate teams just find it too difficult to play at the MCG. Whether it is ground coverage or nerves related, they just find it too much for some reason. Also, home sides get to train in Melbourne conditions, can be a huge factor. The best grand finals are the 2005 and 2006 GFs. Equally as good as each other. Two interstate teams at war.
@@amer-du6qh 05 was a terrible Grand Final. Just frustrating to watch because it was a stoppage fest and only 15 goals were kicked for the entire match. People only rate it so highly because of the finish. 06 was miles better than 05. The best Grand Final I have ever seen is 2012. That game well and truly had everything you could ask for in a game of football. The only Grand Final that has come close to being as good as 2012 was 2018. @Jayden LOADER I wasn't alive for the 2002 GF, so I can't say it's the best I've seen. 2009 GF was very tough and was close all game, but St Kilda's brand of footy made it a pretty boring game at times. Walked away from the TV many times during the '09 GF to play with toys due to being bored of the way St Kilda played. 2010 Draw was easily a better spectacle than than '09, but the lack of an actual result means that it isn't the best Grand Final I've seen.
