Fitting improved turbo bypass pipe on Land Rover 3.0 TDV6 engine

- In this video we fit the improved turbo drain pipe to our Land Rover Discovery 4. This will stop the smoke cloud that happens around 2500 under hard acceleration on the 3.0 TDV6 engines. Parts used
New oil return pipe (LR044556)
New gasket (LR013235)
Blanking plate (LR044555)
great video , i have recently carried out this task , on a 2010 rr sport , i found i could do this without fully removing the starter motor from the vehicle but leaving it wedged out the way " to gain access" to the pipe . thank you for taking the time to make these videos .
restricted performance light problems seemed linked to this once the oil builds up so a good idea to clean it out and install the mod like the video shows.

I’m normally happy to work on the Disco, but this was a real bugger of a job due to the very tight access to the starter motor terminals and fasteners, and the upper part of the drain pipe. It did resolve the smoke issue though (and boy was it producing a lot of smoke!).
Your red pipe came off a lot easier than mine. Doing battle with it.

Brilliant video. Anyone thinking of doing this mod just do it! It made a huge difference to my disco 4. It used to smoke like a chimney when the second turbo came in! After the mod it doesn't smoke at all. I've also noticed that the oil consumption is reduced which can be an issue on these engines. The LR specialist I speak to thinks that high oil consumption is partly to blame for high number of crankshaft fails on these engine . Owners don't spot oil level is low hence momentary oil starvation, crank bearings spin, engine seizes. Do the mod, keep eye on oil level, change oil frequently hopefully all will be well. Arh, another great video from Powerful! My Powerful rear disk upgrade has been on the car for 6 months and they still look brand new. I think you should tackle the air intake manifold replacement next, that would be a great video and sell a complete kit of parts to do the job right! I'm doing it now and its the hardest job I have ever done on a car.

Hi just purchased the kit which contained the pipe and blanking plate. But no green gasket?? Where does the gasket go??
