Hi there. Thank you for the informative video. My cactus looks a lot like the one in the picture you inserted where the top was bulbous with a thin bit in the middle, only that my cactus is thinner than that in the middle and even fatter at the top. 3 monhts ago I repotted my cactus into a larger pot. It seemed to like it since it grew taller (at that time it was straight and more even). But after a while it would start leaning and bending although I tried turning the pot around and eventually it was almost lying down horisontally. I tried propping it up with sticks and a wire. The top gradually grew fatter and the wire kind of cut into the thin stem of the cactus so the whole plant started to almost snap of in the middle (the top hanging over the thin bit). So I have now propped it up again with several sticks and rubber bands attached to the bulbous top and the bottom (not the thin bit). But the whole stem is looking pretty thin and overall smaller than 3 months ago and I don't know what to do. I watered it quite recently but I think the soil feels quite dry. I put it out in the sunlight as much as possible today in case it needs more sun. I really don't know if it would be better to cut of the top and try replanting it. Hmm. Haha, it's a mystery to me.
Oh my gosh, your collection looks so beautiful!! is that the Rebutia carnivale I think the name was that you just described in a other video that has the red flowers in front of the mamillaria that you are talking about?? really beautiful! I wanted to send you a picture of a cactus I have that I am trying to ID it I don’t know if I can send photos on UA-cam, is there a way I would be able to send you a photo on here I am not very familiar with the youtube app. I also wanted to ask you I have a bunch of cacti that I had ordered over the winter and I am patiently waiting for them to take route after putting them up, and it seems like it is taking forever I’m hoping that they will actually form roots! I did move some of them into a closer to the window location so they would get some sun and I hope that helps and I’m trying to think of any idea I can to help them get on with growing in their new homes. do you have any other tips?? I have been watering them when they completely dry out but still I haven’t seen any signs of new growth and they are slowly beginning to desecrate and get smaller and more withered, so I am almost wondering if I should just remove them from the sunny location and put them back in the shade. I wish there was a magical formula you could just add to water to make the roots grow haha . I also was wondering if it is OK to water The‘s plants that are in the process of setting route with neem oil? I have read that if a plant is severely dehydrated or lacking water you should not use neem oil because it could fill the plant by stressing it out even more have you heard this?? Thanks in advance for your wonderful tips and help Lynn!!!!
Hi Anna :-D so happy you love the collection, yes the Rebutia is the Rebutia carnival, its a wonderful bloomer, so sorry to hear that your cacti have still not rooted, I would move them into a bright position but away from sunshine, a bright but indirect light would be best to help them to root, it will still be safe to use the Neem oil on them with no problems, but I think it may also be a good idea to remove a couple of them from the pots and soil they are in just to double check that there are no signs of problems with the soil like soil insect pests, or any problems with the plants at the base as this could prevent any roots trying to form, but it can still take a good few months for roots to form on cacti, but definitely move to a bright position where they get plenty of light but away from direct sunshine until they root, You Tube removed the message option a few years ago but you can send me a photo on instagram @desertplantsofavalon and I can try to ID your cactus for you

Hello, thank you very for the video, I bought what seems to be a Cacti Mammillaria pringlei a few weeks ago, and it came with two other heads attached to it,(I wonder if it’s even supposed to have heads on it). My cacti is still small, about 3 inches and he is bending over to the other sides of the heads. At first I thought it was just leaning towards the sun, but I figured that the issue came from the 2 mysterious heads I mentioned… What are theses? Are they just anomalies that I need to cut off? Or is this the normal pattern of a Mammillaria Pringlei? Do I need to remove them and repot them elsewhere in order to make grow my cactus straight? 🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵
Hi there :-D so happy you enjoyed the video, the good news is its normal for Mammillaria pringlei to grow 'pups' from either the base or on the Mother plant, as these pups grow it can make the Mother plant lean, but it may be best to remove your cactus from the pot just to double check that all is well with the root system, just in case that the cactus is not leaning due to any root or rot issues, it could be possible that the 'heads' may be seed pods, these look like fleshy pink or yellow 'sausage' small shapes that can spring up on the cactus, good luck with your cactus, and thanks so much for your wonderful comment and for watching XXXX
@@desertplantsofavalon 💚thank you very much for your reply! I’m honestly relieved that it’s only natural for my cacti to have pups and lean a little bit. Yesterday I was forced to repot it because someone dropped it off the window and I could check the roots, Thank God they are all white and healthy so I was worried for nothing 🥲Thanks you so much for your advice, now I know I can watch your videos whenever I need help with my cacti collection 😊🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵

I have a Cephalocereus senilis which I think was badly potted at one point so it was leaning diagonally, but then it corrected itself and started growing upwards, so now it leans out at the bottom and grows upright at the top, and it is unbalanced so it has to lean on the window to keep it from falling over. I don't know what to do with it.
Hi Peter :-D its always a bit tricky when cacti are bending, I have a tall Parodia lenighausii I have to support by leaning onto the window, you could make a little cage around your Cephalocereus to offer it some support, thanks so much for your wonderful comment and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a wonderful Wednesday XXXX
@@desertplantsofavalon Thanks so much for your reply and your wonderful channel which I recently discovered! I wondered if I could chop my Cephalocereus in half and let the top half grow straight, but it sounds extreme! I wish I had straightened it up before it decided to grow that way! 🌵
@@peteroconnor6596 So happy you found my channel Peter :-D it is possible to cut your cephalocereus but they are not as easy to propagate from cuttings than some of the other cacti as they can be rot prone, I would definitely recommend leaving it as it is if you can, XXXXX 😃😃🌵🌵🌵
@@desertplantsofavalon Thank you, I will definitely try to find a way to get it to stand up without having to lean on the window. By the way I call mine "Boris" because of all the crazy white hair!

Hi there, some cacti have a bit of a habit of doing this especially the softer varieties of cactus and many of the smaller Cereus types and Mammillarias, and its nothing to worry about, as long as the base of the cactus is not rotting then you don't need to worry, thanks so much for watching, and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a super Sunday XXXX

@@peteroconnor6596 hahahaha Peter :-D Boris is so PERFECT :-D this made me giggle so much XXXX 🤣🤣🤣😆😆
Cactus with Scoliosis? Interesting, I hope my old man cactus doesn't have it, i see it leaning a little...

What if my cactus leans over at night and during the day it seems to stand up…
Hi there, some cacti have a bit of a habit of doing this especially the softer varieties of cactus and many of the smaller Cereus types and Mammillarias, and its nothing to worry about, as long as the base of the cactus is not rotting then you don't need to worry, thanks so much for watching, and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a super Sunday XXXX
