I made lip balm a few years ago. It was really easy but I think I lost the recipe. I put it into the little round pots. From memory I made chocolate, strawberry and other flavours,in recall putting vitamin E in it but can’t recall what else. I had a lot on the go cos I was making foot scrubs and soap as well. I enjoyed making them all though. I’m definitely going to try this recipe. TFS Allie. I really love your videos andI can have a giggle while watching you. I don’t get to do that very often these days.
Love your real life videos and especially enjoy all the cleaning, household, and personal care recipes! I've noticed that print/painting of the cows over your Kitchenaid, and LOvE, LOVE, LOVE it. We are retired dairy farmers, and it reminds us of our Holstein girls.Could you share the artist or name of the painting? We'd love to have one for our dining room.
I love that one. The one above my mixer is actually from Hobby Lobby many years ago. The ones in my dining room are Corrine Galla oil paintings. She’s amazing and local to us.
Double boiler (not broiler btw=)), or "bain marie"for fancy folks (not I), is one of my all time favorite ways to melt things, since it's impossible to burn them~ yay!=) *Here's a tip for tinting lip balms; Add a teeny-tiny bit of blue mica or powdered blueberry, etc, to any pink or red color you're using, as this will make teeth look whiter. Any lip color w/a cool tone will do this, as opposed to warm toned colors which are yellow or orange or brown based.
I love this. I’m a lip balm gal….ALWAYS! This is perfect. I’ll definitely be making this. A GOOD lip balm is HARD to find. The last video you had mentioned your “spice rack” that your hubby made. I fell in love with it the FIRST video I watched. I racked my brain figuring out how to reproduce it. When I move, I’m definitely making one. Tell your hubby thanks for the inspiration. You BOTH are very inspiring.❤ I like that I can add tint to the balm..that’s awesome. Wow, as an eye shadow.🎉 I learn something new EVERY video. I think I like the squeeze tubes too. Takes me back to my Blistex (I think that is how it’s spelled it’s been so long😅). Except it was in a metal tube..very messy and would crack eventually. You are a wonderful wealth of knowledge. I CAN’T get enough of your videos. I’ve upgraded you from my iPad to the 70” living room t.v.😁 You keep me company throughout the day. Tfs. Have a wonderful day.🤗
I never post comments. But! I just have to tell you that you (& Shawn) are wonderful, real people. Very refreshing. I wish you guys were my nextdoor neighbors! Keep on being you and thank you for all you share. I look forward to your videos. Hugs from Seattle-ish. 😊
WOW! Purdy! Seriously, the color is awesome and I can't wait to make some! Sometime in October I and going to have my daughter, granddaughter and friends over for a Little Hill Homestead party and we are going to make your recipes' for body care for Christmas gifts! Love you guys! Hugs from So. CA!
This looks really good..worth a try ..i have always used burts bees lip balm..i hope u dont change ..i love u being you..and ur videos are fantastic..thanku for this receipe..u have a wonderful day ❤️
Candelilla wax, Carnauba wax and Soy wax are listed as good substitutes for beeswax. I personally love beeswax. And I have lip balm tubes everywhere because my lips are always dry. I'm in NC so it's not like we really get "Winters" here but I use it all the time.
Most medicated ones have dimethicone, menthol and salicylic acid. It actually causes drying of the lips. Try something that has more natural ingredients. Tallow or shea and tea tree, Lemon or peppermint essential oil all help with cold sores and chapped lips.
Super cute dress. I agree with you and wear dresses around the house a lot of the time. They are so much more comfortable than jeans and nicer than sweats. P.S. What is the best soap scum removing recipe that you have discovered?
Great ideas!!! I have a cream blush I’ll have to pull out and see if I can replicate it. I’ve wanted to dive into the makeup side but it gets so pricey for all the ingredients.
Holy smokes - I have soooo many colors of mica powder from making resin stuff with it! I'm 'bout ready to smash out all sorts of colored lip balm!! 😂😂😂
I gotta be honest and say I am not sure. I know I have used baking powder and added a little lemon essential oil. I wipe my shelves down with a citrus cleaner each Friday.
Your killing me lol. I love this one. Gonna have to try it. I enjoy your “real” life unedited videos.

Mama said, "No purchased gifts this Christmas, only homemade" Guess what she's getting!! Love it! Thanks so much!
So glad!
I color my lip balm with freeze dried strawberries. I powder it and mix it into the batch.

I use mica and I’ve also used powder food colouring. Great demo.
Awesome, thank you I needed a simple recipe for lip balm. I will try this and give for gifts this season.
Great recipe!! I will definitely give it a try!! For all who use mica powder - make sure the one you use is lip-safe! … not all mica powders are! ❤
Great tip!
That would be a great stocking stuffer or to put in a gift basket. I'm going to make a bunch. Thanks for this.
I love mika for my soap, makeup , etc.😊😊

Thank you! You too!
Yay Thank you!!
I bought some skinny spatulas off of Amazon for soap making. One of those would work perfectly to scoop the rest out of the bowl and utensils.
Castor oil heals chapped lips, softens them, i put on my lips at night.
i wonder what castor oil would do in this recipe? would it make it sticky?
I really like the idea of a softer version of lip balm 😁. QUESTION: if adding tallow do I need to increase the amount of beeswax?
I didn't in the video and it was perfect for a squeeze type balm.
Thank you for your reply! I’m enjoying your videos & appreciate all the information

Hi Ali! QUESTION: I always have to use medicated chap srick. Any thoughts on how to make it?
Most medicated ones have dimethicone, menthol and salicylic acid. It actually causes drying of the lips. Try something that has more natural ingredients. Tallow or shea and tea tree, Lemon or peppermint essential oil all help with cold sores and chapped lips.
@@LittleHillHomesteadGa I didnt know that, thank you so much! ❤️
Any ideas for other ingredients to tint? Mica tends to irritate my throat.
Of course! many spices or herbs are great for this. Look at this link for more ideas formulabotanica.com/38-natural-colourants-skincare/
Super cute dress. I agree with you and wear dresses around the house a lot of the time. They are so much more comfortable than jeans and nicer than sweats. P.S. What is the best soap scum removing recipe that you have discovered?
The dawn and vinegar shower cleaner we recently posted is perfect for soap scum.
Look up lanolin, it's natural and healthy for you. Thanks for the recipe again...Love it.!
I wonder if you could use this recipe to make a blush?
Great ideas!!! I have a cream blush I’ll have to pull out and see if I can replicate it. I’ve wanted to dive into the makeup side but it gets so pricey for all the ingredients.
@@LittleHillHomesteadGa I understand. Makeup is expensive
Holy smokes - I have soooo many colors of mica powder from making resin stuff with it! I'm 'bout ready to smash out all sorts of colored lip balm!! 😂😂😂
Doit!!!
It's Candelila wax and very nice.
Boiler! Sorry but that was hurting my ears. I love you and your videos. I’m going back to the beginning. Keep up with all the great stuff!
Sorry! I think I use that interchangeably 😂
You need an ice cube tray to hold your tubes upright. 😊
Great idea!!
Candelilla wax is a substitute for bees wax...
Thank you! I can never remember the name.
Can you do a video or do you have one on a natural teeth whitener?
I use activated charcoal but yes I will!
@@LittleHillHomesteadGa thank you!
Can we have a recipe for fridge smell cover
I gotta be honest and say I am not sure. I know I have used baking powder and added a little lemon essential oil. I wipe my shelves down with a citrus cleaner each Friday.
It's called candelilla, it comes from a plant.
Candellila wax is the vegan wax
Actually, real lanolin is natural; it's from sheep's wool.
Did you know lanolin is one of the top allergies?
@@LittleHillHomesteadGa I did not know that.
