$20,000 for a fully operational PTC system on 2926 is HUGE for the engine! Even after seeing her this past September, I'm more excited to see her again
I read in the description in the video on the CSX Clinchfield heritage unit, and they're planning on having the unit pull this year's Santa Claus special train that runs on former Clinchfield ROW
(1:38) "CSXT 1981 (Ex-3058) will LIKELY be CSX's final heritage unit and be painted in tribute of Pan-Am Railways." Penn Central - "What am I, chopped liver?! New York Central was one of the three components of my system, and in turn, I became the largest component of Conrail! You don't just skip over me like I never existed!" Atlanta & West Point/Western Ry. of Alabama - "Being mentioned as 'West Point Route' on the Family Lines unit isn't good enough! If the Georgia Railroad got its own heritage unit, why can't we? Were we too small to be considered for our own heritage unit?" Gainesville Midland - "Well... at least I had my own 'sticker' unit for a while (CSXT 3010), but not anymore. I'm in the same boat with the West Point Route - too small for my own heritage unit."
@CoreythelordoftheIsles The PC merger should never have been approved in the first place if the ICC had known just how incompatible the PRR's and NYC's operations actually were.
What? No New Haven, Boston & Maine, Maine Central and Penn Central heritage units from CSX? I seriously hope that the "likely final" phrase regarding the Pan Am heritage unit in the post about the unveiling of the Clinchfield heritage unit is only speculation and not confirmation since four more (from those railroads I mentioned above) have yet to be done in order to honor the entirety of the CSX railroad family.
@TranscontinentalRailfan, since you're clearly so much in the know about railroad preservation, I was wondering if you heard anything recent about the restoration of Atlantic Coast Line 1504. I haven't heard anything about it recently and the last I'm aware of it was what I saw of it as I drove by the FMW location on Hortzclaw Ave in Chattanooga last year (june 2023). It was already taken apart but most of it (cab, tender, and boiler with the smokebox and firebox still attached) was sitting outside. That's the most recent I know of it's progress.
@@bowlinerailfan Yes, I have heard about the ACL 1504 project. I guess there hasn’t been recent updates, because the FMW crews got other projects in the works including at least Nashville, Chattanooga, & St. Louis 576, Pennsylvania Railroad 1361, and Oregon Rail & Navigation 197. Also, there’s got to be some FMW crews in Florida whenever US Sugar 148 operates.

@@robertlucido3686 Awesome! This is a good time to release unit before the Santa Train. Well planned out!
Can't wait to see them return to operation.

@@kevinbaker4241 Maybe just let PRR merge with Illinois Central or vice versa

@ Nothing very recently, but this upcoming K4 Casino Night will help the project move along. I’m also making regular donations to 1361 as well.
