    the heating element is on the left side and normally cooks the eggs nearest to the spot you add water , because it is blowing the hot air directly on them . The humidity sensor is off on mine and reads about 20 points low , I disabled the alarm and just use it as a dry hatch incubator now for my smaller eggs . I have a nurture right 360 that is my main incubator now.

    Very nice review! I'm glad I have some good Mama's to raise up chicks!

      Thank you... Yeah Broody hens are lovely I haven't had a lot of luck with Broody hens tried a few times with little success also haven't had many hens go Broody but I also generally don't have stationary pens so that makes broody a challenge and one Silky I did have ended up getting lice and totally adandoned the chicks straight after they hatched which was horrible...

      @@Janderra I have noticed the hybrids are better Mama's! Australorp is a good Mama too. Silkies have thick feather's so I bet that was horrible! I use diatomaceous earth to help combat bugs. Cedar also helps. Do you all have cedar trees in Australia? Very interesting learning about where you live. God Bless ❤️

      Yes we have ceder, I am hesitant to get Australorp as we can get very hot days here (upto 48°C or 118°F so I have been told) and with their black feathers it might be hard to keep cool 😔 DE is great for bug control and honestly the only time I ever had a luce problem was that 1 broody chicken 🤷‍♀️

    Awesome project. I have an incubator in a box somewhere. My goal this summer is to put some of my chickens eggs in it to expand my layer flock by a small step this year. Great review! Can’t wait to see what come out. I subbed. -Kirsten

    Great reviews Gerowyn! I cant wait to see them hatch! Rhode Island Reds are really pretty! When I kept quail I bought a knock off Hovabater design.
    I was afraid to hatch more though! One day I hope to get back in and use it. Have a great day!

    I have one of no3 incubator, the only problem with this one is there is not even heat distribution throughout the unit. I usually only get 100 quail hatch from 150 eggs set. Am looking at a gqf for my next one, expensive but we eat quail twice a week so worth it in the long term.

    • @Janderra

      That's a lot of quail... hope you do a review when you get it

      @@Janderra I just try to do three batches a year. Not a lot more work looking after 100 as opposed to 30 odd. I butcher at 6 weeks but with incubation you are looking at a 2 month process. We did 100 in January and I will do 2 lots back to back straight over winter, less smelly then. Also can incubate second lot when first lot go to growouts, then they are coming out of brooder when first lot are butchered. Three months and have 200 in the freezer. Everybody thinks
      I am loco! Am saving my allowance for a gqf!

    Cool we have 2 incubaters and they only have small places to look in. I really like the ones that you can see all eggs.

    • @Janderra
      @Janderra  3 роки тому +1

      That was what I was hoping for as well but this incubator has been very disappointing... my preference is to go back to a similar model as the second one I had.

    Really good comparison. If you going to buy one, just for good hatch rate, what would it be? I've got a 48 egg one but was thinking of going to janoel 24 auto.

      @Janderra  Рік тому

      Thank you 🙂 I found the Janoel 24 better in all respects ... it is more expensive now though 🤷‍♀️ 🥰 Blessings Gerowyn

      Do you have a reservoir of water or a dish of water? Is the lid of the incubator sealing properly?

      I don't know that specific incubator maybe you top up the tank each night you could try adding a damp sponge maybe 🤔

      @kskyrme it was dreadful and didn't hatch a single egg, the Janoel 24 with the beige lid has a really good hatch rate and is my favourite... Thanks for watching 🥰 Blessings Gerowyn
