Thanks for the review Zack. It's crazy that you put this video out today and our chicks are hatching today. We are using the NR360. We ordered 25 and you sent 30. 21 were fertile. I candled on day 15 with the incubrite. 12 have hatched so far and we are waiting on the other 9. Very exciting!!!
Hey I was wondering if you can help me. I have the NR 360 and am on day 4 with my quail eggs. Yesterday my humidity kept creeping up to 55-56. How can I bring it back down? I closed the window completely but didn’t notice any difference.
@@Simplesuburbanhomestead keep the grey window notch completely open. I am actually on day 3 I believe with another batch and my humidity went up to 60%. I just left it alone. Eventually it will come down. Mine did within a 12 hour window. I don't know exactly when it came down because I was at work. Or you could "VERY CAREFULLY" tip the incubator forward and let some water run out. I don't really recommend this because of possibility of something going wrong but if this is driving you crazy, doing this could ease ur mind almost instantly. Sorry for the late response. I work the night shift.
Thank you so much for reviewing store bought incubators for small scale homesteaders. I have looked into the brands you mentioned, but it gets overwhelming trying to figure out which one will work for my needs. It's really helpful to actually see how they work and the pros and cons based on your professional experience. Can't wait for more videos.
I've used this incubator to hatch out duck eggs, turkey eggs, chicken, and button quail. I've had 100% hatch rate on all of these different eggs incubated in the nurture right. I recommend using a syringe when putting water into it you have more control of the humidity level. I dip my eggs and hydrogen peroxide and diluted and I think this helps with the hatch rates being so successful for me. I don't like some of the features either that you mentioned but it does hatch off well.
Recently purchased a quail-sized plate from an Etsy shop, made by 3D printing. It will allow the eggs to roll much better than doubling up in the chicken-sized slots. Looking forward to trying it out.
i love the way you just start putting it together instead of looking at the directions lol im a visual learner, thanks for jumping right in. just got my incubator and excited to get started!
I have 3 of those, The temperature is fine, you don't need a hydrometer w this unit. I usually get all but 1 or 2 of my eggs to hatch. I have even experimented w placing my eggs in the refrigerator. (with the eggs from the refrigerator, about 4-6 wont hatch) If you use the vent correctly, the humidity will be fine. The egg candle works great for me too. I started with one unit, then added 2 more after, they run non-stop year around. For the candler, turn the egg at a 45 degree angle to get a good view on the base of the egg.
This is excellent timing for us. I was just starting looking into incubating quail to add to our homestead. I have this incubator and have had excellent results with chickens, 18 out of 22 and 16 out of 22 for our two runs of chickens and that's collecting in cold wet winter. When I checked the duds everything that developed hatched and made it out of the shell. The manual says it's for duck and chicken and the candler works, at least on mine, for chicken eggs but it's not really bright.
I had to use the candler on my Nurture Right and it was tough to see what was up. I had trouble getting my incubright candler. I heartily endorse the incubrit candler. It removed any questions I had. Thanks for endorsing it in your video.
We found that doubling up and putting two quail eggs in the turner sections tend to prevent the eggs from turning over. Rather than purchase another turner, I divided the sections in half along the circumference (rather than diametrically) using fishing line. I notched the plastic on top of the turner at each section divider about 1/16" deep to keep the line from sliding on the plastic, wrapped it around the section divider once and proceeded to the next divider and repeated the notch/wrap. Kind of hard to explain, but if you would like to see it, comment and I will post a video on UA-cam. (I tried posting a link with a picture, but it got deleted.)

Thanks Zack for taking the time to do the review. I recently bought the Farm Innovators incubator (and the quail racks) so I'm excited to see your review of that as well. I think this is going to help a lot of people (which I'm sure is your intention). Thank you.
Great review! Another pro (we have 6 of them) is the amount of customized turning trays available and "hacks" (shoe string humidity control ect..) as well as risers (to stop them from getting out when it's opened). Thanks for sharing. Great information for anyone looking for an incubator.
How are they holding up? I am looking at this unit. It is $150 on Amazon as of 3/2022. We hope to have something running at close to 100 percent or 12cycles per year and get a few years out of it.
@@markchidester6239 my first batch is going now. It has about 9 days to go. So far everything is going smoothly; The temp has been stable at 99.5, the humidity fluctuates a bit, but on the high side rather than the low side, so I just open the air vent a little more if I think the humidity is too high. Mine also ran 1/2 degree low. I purchased a quail tray on line that will hold 45 eggs. Plenty for my requirements as I am not a commercial Breeder. I have had to add wet paper towels to get the humidity up at times on lockdown. Overall I am very pleased with this incubator.
Thanks for this review. I am in the research stage for this spring. Have been wondering which one to get. Cant wait until you do the rest of them. Thanks Again.
I have to keep my vent half way open to keep proper humidity on all 3 of my nr360, during day 1 thru 18 with chicken eggs. Only filling part A up. If i close the vent all the way. The humidity goes thru the roof. Thank you for ur review
Got this incubator and some chicks from SWGB, can confirm; runs a half a degree lower and the humidity is usually off by a fair amount (usually 5-ish up or down), but it was fairly consistent in how it held, and did make keeping humidity controlled very easy. Turned eggs frequently. Hatched 17 eggs out of 35 (2 casualties after hatch). Would probably have been better if I didn't cause a few mistakes for my first time** Generally I liked it, seems quite worth the money for the peace of mind from reliability. Some things to note: - Automatically stops turning at the 3-day "Lockdown" period if you set the timer properly, so thats handy. Of course, remove the egg turner anyway because it'll get in the way of the chicks hatching otherwise. - On the subject of the egg turner, for your own sanity get a custom Quail-sized one off Etsy. The chicken-sized one works *_ok_* for Quails, but the eggs, if doubled-up, would sometimes get stuck on each other and just get pushed along without getting properly rolled, and it would aggravate me until I poked them to get them lose. - Etsy also has a lot of add-on items for it; aside from different egg turners, I've seen risers and dividers as well from a seller named CourdtCreations, which may help organize and contain hatched chicks for removal during lockdown - Would automatically remember settings and timer if it lost power for a period of time. I kept mine on a battery backup so I did not need to worry, but some people mentioned it and I tested it, it does indeed quickly pick up right where it left off, which would be good for people dealing with power bumps. ** Word of Caution: if you have to remove the lid for any length of time for any reason, make sure it re-seats itself properly into the lip before walking away from it. I'm pretty certain a dozen remaining eggs were compromised during the lockdown period because I was hasty and left mine slightly ajar by accident, screwing the humidity numbers for several hours before I noticed and rectified it. Al in all I dont regret my purchase. Maybe there are more cost-efficient ones for what I plan on doing in the coming months, but this will suffice for now as I mostly intend to make seperate quail clans for genetic diveristy. I intend to get my next batch from MyShire Farms, and of course the next batch should hatch better since I learned a lot from this one.
I just switched to the Borrotto from the Nurture Right specifically because it handles quail eggs better. Would love to see a review of that incubator.
Just ordered this today after watching your video. The incubator I have drives me crazy. Humidity never stays right I have to keep opening it to add water.. Hope this one is better.
Thank you for doing this review Zack! I just got the NR 360 and waiting on eggs. Reading the directions it states that the air vent has to be 1/3 or 1/2 open during incubation at all times. Then in lockdown fully open. You show that it is closed during incubation and then opened for lockdown. I am not sure which way to use it. I am confused now. You had a great hatch rate!
I wish they would make 2 improvements: 1. The metal shaft is made of carbon steel, and it rusts really easily. It should be made from stainless steel, or even titanium, instead. 2. The base and the lid have a very small slot; the area where the base fits the lid is almost flat, and it can be a bit difficult to line up the lid when placing it down. Plus the hatchlings can easily walk (run) out when you lift the lid. So I wish they would make the base have a retaining wall of sorts, to both keep the hatchlings in, and to make it easier to place the lid back on.
Great review. I did order the govee thermometer. It is here just waiting to use it. Never used this type of incubator I started with the little giant. I used it for about a year. It worked pretty good. You don’t have to full the water every day so that’s good. But you do have to open the lid to add water on the one I have. I really don’t like that about it but it’s a good incubator. Can’t wait to here your review thanks
I use a digital medical oral thermometer to check my incubator temperature. It has precision of +_ 0.2 °F and reads to the nearest 1/10 of a degree. I insert the tip through a small hole drilled at egg height. Cost is cheap at $7.99 including shipping. Thanks for the great review. This playlist will be of great help to those looking to make a new incubator purchase but don’t need the capacity of cabinet incubators.
It would be nice with these reviews if you share the ambient temperature and humidity. I have a different incubator (Hovabater), but I noticed it needed different setting on the incubator itself (summer vs. winter) to maintain reality.
The Nature Right, Harris Farms ( at Tractor Supply) and Mana Pro, brands All appear to be identical, egg hatchers. I can report that they are easy to use. And work well. Last year I coached a neighbor using one, and those eggs hatched, and grew up, and now are laying eggs. Be Prepared, get all your hatching and brooding supplies ahead of getting hatching eggs.
We are so excited because our eggs are coming in tomorrow from you guys! We got this incubator all set up and ready. One question. Did you have to adjust the humidity much? That’s one thing we saw that you have to adjust that vent a lot. Just wondered if y’all had the same issue.
There is a similar style on Amazon. I don't know how it compares to the one in the video but it might serve as a temporary option until the Nuture 360 is a viable option. Hooe all's well with everyone.
I've been watching all of your incubator reviews and I think I shall buy this incubator, thankyou for all of the time you have put into this. My only question is that I would like to try the jumbo quail eggs for hatching, I have the regular quails at home and wonder if this incubator would work with larger quail egg. By the way do you sell jumbo quail eggs? Please help this old lady🐣
I think that is a good choice for a starter and most jumbo eggs will fit. You might have to skip a space or two but should not be a problem. Yes we do sell many options of jumbo eggs on our website at www.myshirefarm.com
Using this currently on some quail eggs. We are struggling to get the humidity above 65%… it seems the only way we can get the humidity to get to 66% is covering a small hole behind the temperature plate on the lid.
I’ve got this NR360 with the 45 spot quail turner and I’ve got 50 eggs coming from you guys this Tuesday. Is it ok if I leave some out and incubate after the first batch. Or will it not work?
Don't forget when adding up "price per egg" you have to buy the turners separately for the others. You can fit alot more without the turners in the 360 too. Those separate turners aren't cheap
Like any tool you buy, it's best if you learn how to use it. I have hatched over 300 Jumbo white coturnix quail in mine and still counting. Just be sure to clean it after each hatch. Ron
Thanks for the review on the nurture right. I just pulled mine out of the box today and also had to set nurture too 100.0 for govee to read 99.5. What would you do if your getting 4% humidity on nurture and govee 11.8%?
@@MyshireFarm You need to know the ambient humidity in your location. I can't even use my Borotto humidity pump as I'm in an area of BC which is dry, and rarely above 15% humidity. the pump needs above 32% humidity to function . (No, it's not mentioned in the manual). I guess back East and in Italy humidity is so OFTEN above 80% they didn't factor that in, but I don't need it anyway. My NR 360 and Borotto function just fine without it.
Nice review Zack. The instructions for the incubator require the room temperature not drop below 72 degrees (best kept "in a room with stable temperature 74-80"). I see you were wearing a knit cap. What was the room temp where you were using the NR360 and did you notice much fluctuation of the incubator temp? We just hatched out our first batch of eggs using our NR360 and couldn't be more satisfied - 23 out of 32 hatched (didn't candle). Just ordered the Govee through your Amazon store. Thanks for the heads up.
That’s great! Congrats. It fluctuated between 68-72 degrees in the room but in the main barn there is no heat so I get hot in the brooder room but freezing in rest of barn hahahaha
Hey Zack my name is Lori. I started using my N 360 last Sunday with quail eggs. I have only hatched chickens before now. When hatching chickens I have left the window set halfway open until lockdown. I noticed you had it closed until lockdown. Today is Wednesday so day 3 and my humidity has been up to 55. It has been staying around 45 until now. Any idea what I should do? I did close the window after watching this tonight. Thank you so much. God Bless.
Hello Zack! i would like to ask you this question. how many time you add water during the incubation time, and how many time during lockdown? Thank you in advance for your quick response.
We are on our first hatch. Day 20. No pips. Is that normal? We did water candeling the night of day 17. 3 of the 10 were moving. So we have three we are placing hopes in. Little nervous though since there isn’t any signs yet
Even though there's a separate power source for the turner, and software board controls ALL. It should have been separate. Yes, I can kitbash the turner (it stopped working right after the first test plug-in) and I can low voltage a repair, and run the motor on a separate system. NR Missouri immediately refunded my full purchase price, as I'm in Canada returning is pointless for an exchange (we pay HUGE for shipping up here).
@@MyshireFarm Thank you for responding, I’m ordering my first quails from you guys but as a first timer I’m not sure if I should order the sets you offer or the eggs to hatch can you please advise? I’m already binge watching your videos so I can get myself ready for the arrival. Any help would be Greatly Appreciated thanks 😊 and I heard about you from Asia @Yellowdoorurbanhomestead
I have one. I can't recommend it. The LCD on the temperature went very dim on me after about a month of owning it. So, I can read the "10s" one just fine, but the "1s" digit is very, very dim. I have to turn out the lights in the room to read it. What's even worse is that the turn shaft on the thing is made out of a material that rusts. Given that it's an incubator, that shaft is exposed to humid air whenever it's in use. I had a hell of a time getting the turner wheel off on my last use. I even broke one of the spokes trying to get it off.
@@MyshireFarm On the rusting issue, mine is about 10 months old. I've maybe used it six times. When washing it, I'm very careful about getting water around that shaft because the motor is right under it and there doesn't seem to be any protection should water get in that area. Right now, I'm tryin to figure out a decent way of de-rusting that shaft so I can continue to use it. There may not be a good way since the motor is right under that shaft, and it's really hard to get a wire brush in that space.
Okay, after shopping around and buying a different incubator, I bought another Nurture Right 360. To solve the shaft rusting issue, I've been using a small stick to smear petroleum jelly on the shaft, and I'm trying to get some down around where the shaft goes in to the motor. Still have that issue with the display for humidity on my original one, but I can read it when there's no other light in the room and I cover up the temperature display - MOST of the time. I'd recommend the petroleum jelly since I can easy remove the turner now. I had to super glue one of the struts because it got broken during the turner removal when the rust became a huge issue.
That happened to us once and to be honest we took the batteries out put back in and have not had the issue since. I am sure there is a better way to do it but I am not sure sorry
I just bought this incubator today at goodwill for $15.99 I can't wait to use it.

Thanks for your feedback
I just switched to the Borrotto from the Nurture Right specifically because it handles quail eggs better. Would love to see a review of that incubator.
I will put that on our list for you.
I love both of my NR 360’s! Work so good
Yeah we had great results
Soo glad you did this! We're on day 6! Thank you
Great! GOOD LUCK
Great video Zack…I just received my Govee today…Setting it up through Bluetooth.
Thanks Kate
AWEOSME. Good luck
Just ordered this today after watching your video. The incubator I have drives me crazy. Humidity never stays right I have to keep opening it to add water.. Hope this one is better.
That’s great. Good luck and let me know what you think
That is just what works best for us. I would follow the instructions for the 360 though.
@@MyshireFarm Thank you Zack! I found I needed it open anyway to control the humidity after all. If I closed it up it was way too high.
Thank you so much Zack for your videos
Thanks for watching
I wish they would make 2 improvements:
Agreed
Great review. I did order the govee thermometer. It is here just waiting to use it. Never used this type of incubator I started with the little giant. I used it for about a year. It worked pretty good. You don’t have to full the water every day so that’s good. But you do have to open the lid to add water on the one I have. I really don’t like that about it but it’s a good incubator. Can’t wait to here your review thanks
Good luck and we are starting the next one Friday so fingers crossed
Great video review! I’m using one now and it seems very easy and in the middle of hatching the eggs from you going great. Thanks again
Great to hear. Good luck
Is there a link to other incubator reviews, or a playlist? Very good review on the 360. I have 2 of them.
The playlist on our website is called quail product reviews
Thanks for testing and sharing.
Hope it helps
I use a digital medical oral thermometer to check my incubator temperature. It has precision of +_ 0.2 °F and reads to the nearest 1/10 of a degree. I insert the tip through a small hole drilled at egg height. Cost is cheap at $7.99 including shipping.
Thanks for the great review. This playlist will be of great help to those looking to make a new incubator purchase but don’t need the capacity of cabinet incubators.
I hope so. Good luck and thanks for watching
Thank You! I like this 👍👏😊
Thanks for watching
It would be nice with these reviews if you share the ambient temperature and humidity. I have a different incubator (Hovabater), but I noticed it needed different setting on the incubator itself (summer vs. winter) to maintain reality.
I will put that in my notes
Thanks for sharing this.
Thanks for watching
I’ll give my Review!! Yes worked Great!!hatched lots of Chicks!!!🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Great to hear
The Nature Right, Harris Farms ( at Tractor Supply) and Mana Pro, brands All appear to be identical, egg hatchers. I can report that they are easy to use. And work well. Last year I coached a neighbor using one, and those eggs hatched, and grew up, and now are laying eggs. Be Prepared, get all your hatching and brooding supplies ahead of getting hatching eggs.
Great thank you
Pretty good job on your video. Because,I am a pro, hint: have a script, practice. do multiple takes. But like i said pretty good job!!
we got a Nurture Right 360 and the temp runs 15 degrees low when we checked it with two calibrated thermometers
Very weird. I have not heard that before. Thanks for sharing
We are so excited because our eggs are coming in tomorrow from you guys! We got this incubator all set up and ready. One question. Did you have to adjust the humidity much? That’s one thing we saw that you have to adjust that vent a lot. Just wondered if y’all had the same issue.
We did have to adjust it more than what I would like and good luck!
There is a similar style on Amazon. I don't know how it compares to the one in the video but it might serve as a temporary option until the Nuture 360 is a viable option. Hooe all's well with everyone.
Thanks
I love mine !
That’s great
I've been watching all of your incubator reviews and I think I shall buy this incubator, thankyou for all of the time you have put into this.
@@MyshireFarm Thankyou, as soon as I recieve the incubator I will buy the fertilized eggs from you!🐣🐣🐣🐣
I heard it works great the first time but rarely again. Any comments on that?
I have done a few different hatches and it does lose some insulation but it is manageable.
Using this currently on some quail eggs. We are struggling to get the humidity above 65%… it seems the only way we can get the humidity to get to 66% is covering a small hole behind the temperature plate on the lid.
You can put a piece of Tupperware with water and a sponge in there and that should help
It also helps to have a warmer room. I noticed that if I slightly warm the water before adding it causes the humidity to climb
I’ve got this NR360 with the 45 spot quail turner and I’ve got 50 eggs coming from you guys this Tuesday. Is it ok if I leave some out and incubate after the first batch. Or will it not work?
The eggs will be too old if you wait on them.
Thanks for the review.
Np glad I could do it
Flavor injection syringe works great for adding water with minimal spilling
Great idea
Don't forget when adding up "price per egg" you have to buy the turners separately for the others. You can fit alot more without the turners in the 360 too. Those separate turners aren't cheap
That is true.
Also people need to remember the little giant incubator is really bad.
Like any tool you buy, it's best if you learn how to use it. I have hatched over 300 Jumbo white coturnix quail in mine and still counting. Just be sure to clean it after each hatch. Ron
Agreed!!! Well said
Great review!
Thanks for watching
Great review
Thanks so much for trying this out
Thanks for watching
Thanks for the review on the nurture right. I just pulled mine out of the box today and also had to set nurture too 100.0 for govee to read 99.5. What would you do if your getting 4% humidity on nurture and govee 11.8%?
Trust the Govee for sure. Good question though
I regulate humidity with that vent to high and I open it a little till I get it where I want, say 55%. Till lockdown
Good idea
@@MyshireFarm Thanks!
Can anybody answer me... Zack didn't say anything about the egg turner. How long must it be set to rotate; 1 hour? 3 hours...?
3 hours is best practice but it does not matter too much.
When is it lock down for the quails. And are the eggs supposed to turn by themselves three times a day already by themselves?
Lockdown is day 14 and 15
Hey Zack I just bought a 360 incabator just set the eggs this evening I had 16 eggs will let you know how it goes
Wonderful. Good luck!
God Bless.
You can own it up 1/3 of the way and it should be fine
Hello Zack! i would like to ask you this question. how many time you add water during the incubation time, and how many time during lockdown? Thank you in advance for your quick response.
We added water 3-4 times during incubation and maybe 6-8 times during lockdown.
@@MyshireFarm Thank you very much.
I have the Little Giant and find it works very well. Also affordable.
That is wonderful to hear
How do you cook your quail so it’s not tough? We tried them in the smoker and they were awfully tough. Hubby probably overcooked.
You need to let them rest for at least 24 hours after butcher before you cook but other than that just cooking properly should do the trick
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching
Great vid, i use two nr 360. I'll be interested in your review on the rest
Me too!
It's what I use...❤ mine
Nice
Question when do you remove the the think that turn the eggs and what is the right humidity please my fist time with quail
Day 14 and 65% at lockdown. I have a whole playlist on hatching quail that should help.
I see that you removed the egg tray. I did not see you doing it.
When are we supposed to remove that tray?
During lockdown.
We are on our first hatch. Day 20. No pips. Is that normal? We did water candeling the night of day 17. 3 of the 10 were moving. So we have three we are placing hopes in. Little nervous though since there isn’t any signs yet
No you need to increase your temp and humidity immediately and never water candle eggs, either don’t candle or use a light
How much temp fluctuation is okay to get a good hatch rate.
1 degree. It should be 99.5 and the range between 99-100
Even though there's a separate power source for the turner, and software board controls ALL.
I’m sure the shipping was expensive: glad they worked with you
Thanks for this video. Good info
Thanks for watching
Quick question, how fast does the water tank need to filled throughout incubation and lockdown?
1-2 times
Nice loving this 🤗
Thanks for watching
How many days to hatch quail? Humidity to stay at 49%? And at what day is lock down for quail?
35% humidity until lockdown which is day 14 and then bump it to 75% and they take 18 days to hatch
What’s the temp ad humid temperature gear is it that you use?
Govee
Wow amazing
Good luck
Using this currently, I’m having trouble keeping the humidity down, even with the vent fully open
Try dry hatching. That should help
@@MyshireFarm not sure what that is. Not filling it with water?
Great video!
Thanks for watching
Will removing the lid cause shrinking of the other eggs?
If less than 3-5 min no
What do you do with the infertile eggs, do you discard them or are they edible?
We compost them. They are not eatable.
I have the same exact US flag hat!
Very cool
Very interesting. Thanks for letting me know.
How long do you keep newly hatched chicks in incubator
24 hours
Nice review!
Thanks
Got one the second time we used it the humidity has a code EE do you know how to get it to clear the code
That happened to us once and to be honest we took the batteries out put back in and have not had the issue since. I am sure there is a better way to do it but I am not sure sorry
After opening and loosing heat and humidity what’s chance of those eggs hatching completely
Still good. The rule of thumb is 2 hours to fix the problem and still a good chance
Hey sir how often does it rotate?I’ve had mine on (test run) for 6 hrs and it hasn’t moved.thanks
I am pretty sure you can change it
The red light in the upper right corner needs to be on. If you reset your days to 21 it will be on and turn for 18 days every 45 minutes (I think)
