What I love about Ramin's phantom is that at many times he doesn't actually touch Christine but is inches away from touching her. It somehow brings out more intensity and also at the same time you get the feels that he treats her like a treasure that's too precious that it might break
He's capturing how I envision the Phantom perfectly. A man shunned by society, trying to serenade this woman he has chosen, trying to appear brave and seductive whilst also being deathly afraid of her rejecting him because of his face.
Allie One Lmao that’s a bad “comeback”. Ya can’t even write “testicle” and there was no need to end it with a question mark. Badly put together comeback. No actual argument that proves why Crawford is better.
Sierra Boggess deserves a lot of credit in this scene! Without singing a single note or word, Sierra played her part perfectly complimenting Ramin's singing. She completely captured the trance state that Christine was in, fully mesmerized by the Phantom's singing. Bravo!
Ramin's performance has so much TEXTURE. Within a single line, he sounds romantic, desperate, terrified, vulnerable, you can cut the emotions with a knife. What a legend.
Totally/, he was born to be in musicals. That metallic voice is quite unparalleled. I heard him sing modern/pop music on his channel, it’s not quite the same. 😅
@@maggs368 🤔 He has absolutely no control over his breathing, taking breaths for almost every word or syllable. Way too much vibrato. More than anything, it sounds like a guy trying to sing a song after sprinting 100 meters. Night HUHH time HUHH, sharp-HUHH-pens, HUHH height-HUHH-tens....
@@Gwabbing I tried singing to the vocal sheet music. It does require tons of breath support. You can’t actually sing the length of the notes all in one breath.
Anyone else loving the fact that every musical has only two songs published for it, but people have been asking for Ramin's "Music Of The Night" so much, they had no choice but to post it?
his "touch me, trust me" is so good and subtle but he delivers it so well. that little look he gives that you know its not even a sexual kind of way and its purely hope and that little "trust me" THAT PURE HOPE ON HIS FACE JESUS RAMIN
This...this is exactly why he is so beloved in this role. I’m sincerely in awe of his acting choices, and how he embodies this character, the life and personality he’s given him.
@@michaeltudyk8660 "IT IS PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO RELAX!!" to quote an overcaffinated disney character. Also, any relation to our favorite spice cowboy pilot/pirate/chicken?
I don’t like it. Why is it such a hushed rushed whisper? Seems more like an intrusive thought he said aloud suggestively and he’s checking real quick to see if he got away with it. Then continues before he then changes his mind and regains his focus. It’s better when it’s all a part of the lullaby-like immersion they’ve both fallen into, and which he then floats back out of the immersion to lead her to the mirror. People talk about all the emotion that Ramin shows, but for me it’s just a dude constantly choking out his words instead of being a haunting “Angel of Music” who’s fully in his element.
Ramin is sensational! The way he delivers the Phantom's feelings is just wow - for example the sigh when Christine rests on his arm, the scare when she faints and then the short smile when he's holding her for the first time... Nobody has ever got so deep in the core of Phantom as he did, I'm truly amazed!
@@van9825 i agree with you. I think that Gerard Butler has put more emotion and passion into this scene. I also like that in the movie the Phantom has taken Christine's hand and directed her to touch his cheek which put more emphasis on his longing for her. I also liked that the movie didn't make it seem like Christine was eager to take off his mask like she does in the musical. The movie took its time for Christine's curiosity to get the best of her. In here it seems like she is mostly focused on taking off the mask and not focused as much on his beautiful voice. I am not trying to hate on the musical or anything but in my humble opinion I do prefer this scene from the movie as it really lets Christine endulge in his voice and passion.
Does anyone notice his expression when Christine fainted out and he rushed over to catch her? "Oh sh-t" 😅😅😅😅 then he looked at her like "Awww cutie". Omg i swear i can die for his acting.
It really is those little nuances and expressions that set his Phantom apart. He doesn't just move through the blocking. He thought out every reason for every look, every action, every reaction.
You don’t realize it until you watch closely but this blocking is super complex. He barely touches her and she has to move accordingly without making it look choppy or mechanical. Her face has to convey exactly what he’s trying to tell her without losing focus which can be difficult when also trying to look dreamy and hypnotized. And then when he sings the big end of each line (ex. Let your spirit/soul...) her eyes are closed when he directs her movement, but she still moves exactly how he directs even though she can’t see what he’s doing.
Exactly. And there’s a lot of trust involved too. Because her eyes are closed, she obviously can’t see what he’s doing or directing her to move. So he could easily “mess up” by moving his hands in a different direction then he is supposed to and make Sierra look like an idiot. This is one of those scenes where you have to go through hell to make it look easy
Honestly, Ramin is the perfect Phantom, here are my reasons 1. He clearly puts vulnerability first. Nothing irritates me more than when a Phantom actor decides it's a bigger priority to be dark and mysterious opposed to being vulnerable- Ramin totally knew what he was doing there! 2. He has a clearness and purity to his voice that I feel the phantom would have. This goes for Sierra Boggess too. Both of these actors have a strong purity and slight hauntingness to their voice that makes them perfect for the roles. They dont have rich, deep voices like Carlotta's, but more pure and clear. To me, that's what I think a real angel would sound like.
The insecurity, the seduction, the anger, the sadness, the vulnerability and the frustration can all be felt by Ramin’s interpretation. The best ive seen and ive been a fan of POTO my entire life.
Other Phantoms sing the songs. Ramim brings his entire soul and is spellbinding. Sierra is the perfect Christine, both are just so great together. As one fan wrote "I wish I had a man look at me like Ramim's Phantom does to Sierra's Christine."
4:08 I love how all the time he wants to touch her, but he's restraining himself to do so, until that moment when she tries to touch his mask and he grasp her wrist and immediatly realizes he just touched her! It's so subtle, but there so much meaning in that single moment!!
And then seeing her face after realizing he has touched her, he sees she’s okay with it. Then he continues to hold her hand and lead her for a long moment. I’m in a puddle of tears
Ramin captures the role of Phantom as no one does ... his emotions, his chemistry with Sierra, his hand movements, and of course - his voice! Chills all the way through, especially his "Soar..........", "Be........", and the final "Night........"! Thank you, Ramin!
There have been sooo many Phantom's over the years ... each one having their own flair. It's a shame more from the earlier years didn't have a chance to be recorded. I do enjoy John Owen Jones and others. If you have a chance, listen to Gary Mauer. He was in the U.S. national tour many years ago. Awesome!
You're welcome, Peter. Gary captured Phantom in a different way as his wife, Elizabeth Southard, was Christine. The chemistry and love between them really came through on stage.
Everyone’s talking about silently the senses but can we talk about the brilliance of “touch me, trust me” for a second?!?! Ramin is the ONLY phantom who says it that honestly and it’s BEAUTIFUL.
I have seen A LOT of Phantom/Christines over the years, and aside from Ramin and Sierra's truly stellar voices, what makes these two the definitive pairing has always been the chemistry and acting skills. You get the feeling that they are singing to each other and the audience is a voyeur to something special. in other pairings, I feel like the actors are mainly singing to the audience and using each other as a prop to convey the story, but it's so much more impactful to just dial it back and work the connection with each other. As an audience member, don't sing for 'us', sing for each other and let us vicariously experience it. Make us believe it. That's when the magic happens. Ramin and Sierra are the gold standard for this.
Everyone: guys “silently the senses abandon their defenses” was so good me: every time she tries to touch the mask he pushes her away but he’s still really intimate anyway like he never breaks the spell can we talk about that
Something I only just noticed (having watched this and other versions well over a dozen times) is that this Phantom never approaches her from the front; whenever she's looking at him he either stays still or moves backwards, but tends to take quick, circling steps towards her as soon as she's not looking at him. It's a lovely little detail that fits perfectly with the Phantom both being a frightened Quasimodo who's not comfortable being looked at, but also a dangerous predator who stalks his prey from behind. It makes me think of what people always say about wild animals "they're more scared of you than you are of them", yeah, fine, but a nervous tiger is still a tiger!
What can I say some guys got it some don't. Case in point: years ago when I still had a decent singing voice I once sang all the tenor parts in the Halleluiah Chorus. This was supposed to be a private Christmas concert for my wife. She merely nodded off to sleep when I was halfway through the oratorio.
It’s such a small detail as compared to everything else everyone’s been commenting on, but I love how Ramin carried Sierra so effortlessly when she fainted at 4:42. It’s just so graceful and ties in really nicely with putting her down on the boat.
The extra details these two add pushes their performances to another level. Like here when Sierra is about to remove Ramin's mask. He quickly looks up in horror when he notices, and after he grabs her wrist, he quickly lets go and looks shocked that he actually touched her. And the way Sierra seems to flow between trance and reality as the Phantom leads her is perfection. Everyone has their favorite Phantom and Christine, but it's obvious why these two are so popular.
Not to mention, he ‘catches himself’ being too rough with her, and then takes her hand gently in his. Say what you will, but these slight nuances are gorgeous choices for this character, and scene.
Yes, I think he's a terrific actor, very intelligent. Actually, sometimes I wonder if he read the book of Leroux, because his acting is similar to the description of the Phantom, imo (excepting his age, the Phantom is much older).
oh my god. all of the different emotions that Ramin portrays in a character that could easily be played as one-note. starting at 4:40 - he goes from enraptured in her, to a moment of building confidence and suaveness before he touches her arm, to his look of "oh shit" as she passes out, to a kind of joyful disbelief when he realizes he's holding Christine in his arms, to complete tenderness, and all of that is conveyed to us through his acting alone in just ten seconds. my other favorite moment - starting at 4:06, with pretty much just his face, he goes from serene, to losing his facade of confidence and growing fearful when she touches his mask and he grabs her wrist, to his panicked look of "oh god what do I do now" as he looks back and forth between Christine and her hand, to deciding to just run with it and gently taking her hand again (almost with a look of "yes this is what I meant to do right now, all according to plan, I definitely didn't just flip out for a second"), to looking confident and in control and knowledgable again, though maybe a bit more cautious. it just is such an incredible moment because it really makes the scene where she removes his mask later more impactful. even in this moment, he really didn't want to risk her seeing what he looked like because it would ruin the way she perceives him and you can see all of that just through his facial expressions. I feel like I always envision the phantom in this song as being infallible and completely confident in what he's doing, but Ramin's take on him is so much more nuanced and complex than that and I love it so so much. his phantom is very much unsure and nervous about this encounter but he's trying to hide it, and almost totally succeeding at doing that. this is one of the most believable acting moments in musical theater I've ever, ever seen. this feels so real.
I totally agree with your comment at the end when talking about him being confident and infallible in most performances starting with Michael Crawford. Not sure if you’ve seen him perform but at the part when the phantom Is holding Christine “savor each sensation” part Sarah Brightman actually caresses and touches his mask. I’ve never felt that to be something that would actually happen in that moment, it may look super romantic but I feel like no matter how wrapped up in the moment the phantom would be he would terrified of her touchIng his mask and possibly removing it to see his true face. I feel ramins actions in that moment of utter panic to be very realistic!
His gasp then for a fraction of a second he does a tiny smile after she rests her head on his arm then goes back to being smooth. It’s such a tiny thing but that moment of vulnerability aswell as the others makes all the difference in how Ramin portrays the Phantom. My favourite by far!
The evidence that Andrew Lloyd Webber loves Ramin Karimloo: -Raoul on The Phantom of The Opera West End (2003-2004) -Gustave Daaé on The Phantom of The Opera film (2004) -Erik/The phantom on The Phantom of The Opera West End (2006-2009) -Erik/The phantom on the first production of Love Never Dies (2010-2011) -Erik/The phantom on The Phantom of The Opera 25th Anniversary (2011) Ramin is the only actor that plays three of Christine's loves: father, lover, husband. I started to think that Andrew is #Rierra shipper. I meant..... The plot of Love Never Dies is like a fanfiction of a fangirl on Tumblr who really ships both main characters :') Plus, Andrew said that Ramin is the sexiest Phantom.
Well, as a death fan of the musical, I can totally say that Ramin is the best Phantom ever imo. He has the attitude, the voice, and the talent overall to play the role. Perfect.
Lol!!! This was the best couple since the original. In my opinion, they beat the og. Their chemistry is amazing, acting and their voices! Exactly what I imagine the Phantom and Christine to sound like.
3:53 He's rocking her from side to side, as if she were a baby, and he's singing a lullaby to her. God have mercy on my soul, that was sooooo sweet, I found myself rocking with them. ❤
This song always seemed to me like a lullaby, even if some of the lyrics could be taken in a more suggestive manner, the orchestration has an innocence to it akin to the old silver age disney film scores
I think that’s him Stimming. Stimming is short for self stimulatory behavior which is found in a lot of people but autistic usually rock or fidget with their hands to stim. That’s right, he’s autistic. Since he was feeling pretty anxious in this scene this is how he self regulates and the fact that Christine joined him (hypnotized or not) makes it rlly special. Thank you for pointing this out lol.
I love 4:09 so much. It's like he first grabs her wrist harshly and then is surprised by what he's done and immediately let goes and caresses her hand as if to say sorry
Abusers are always sorry after the fact. I am also referring to the final lair where he chokes her and looks surprised and when he pushes her down, also that look of surprise. He does a fantastic job of showing that, too, the acting is superb.
@@Ekinnajay Not disagreeing, but the part at 4:15 when he grabs her wrist is in response to his sudden panic that she might touch his mask. It wasn't intended as an attack, but as a defense. The ending though, you're absolutely right.
I WITHOUT UNDERSTANDING THE LANGUAGE (I AM USING A TRANSLATOR TO WRITE YOU) EACH WORD FROM PHANTON / RAMIN PRODUCES THE SAME. YOUR VOICE HAS CROSSED THE LANGUAGE BARRIER AND CONQUERED ME WITH THE BEAUTIFUL LANGUAGE OF MUSIC ... OF THE MUSIC OF THE NIGHT.
He masks his desire under the grandeur of musical ideal. If I ever had an assignment in analysing literature, Phantom surely will be my leading choice.
I've always loved Ramin's hand gestures and all the emotions he expresses through them. Not only does he have the voice of an angel, but also he can act with his whole body. He's the perfect phantom. P. S. Thank you for all the great videos you've uploaded these past few weeks. It's been a pleasure and a privilege, to watch these amazing shows from home.
Did anyone else notice the little whispered comment he makes to her with his hand gesture at 0:44? it sounds like a soft "you" as they make eye contact? Simply superb...I would be mesmerized...
for some reason, every time i watch this, i keep missing the fact that sierra literally let a tear slip past- playing christine as so wholly affected by the phantom's ministrations that she couldn't help but cry. like jesus sierra there's dedication and then there's *dedication* you icon of a christine.
@@daynacooper1163 Gerard and Emmy can't actually sing the roles to their full potential. Compare either especially Gerard to stage musical versions who have the training to song the role PROPERLY and the pair falls flat. The only thing Gerard succeeded in was making my ears bleed. Some "angel of music". Technically, again especially Gerard the vocal performances aren't great. That's an objective fact. You hear them straining for the notes.
@team Christine Ramin blends both perfectly. Sometimes he's operatic and sometimes he's pop/rock. The musical was written in 1986, so it is already a little bit influenced by rock. I personally love how Ramin sounds, it gives me chills. He's very emotional, and that really ties it together.
@team Christine Lloyd Webber _wanted_ someone with a more pop/rock voice for the Phantom. It's meant to be a blend. He actually said, and I wish I was making this up, that Gerard Butler's rougher voice was closer to what he'd imagined for the character. Anyway, a voice that can blend both elements works better for the songs in the musical.

it's a small thing but at 4:09 she tries to take off his mask so he grabs her hand violently, but then he regrets and quickly caresses her hand, comforts her OMGGG IT'S BEATIFUL
Ramin Karimloo is without a doubt Sierra Boggess' phantom. They have so very much chemistry and they perform in perfect sync together. I saw the one where she performed the song with all the phantoms in turn and none of them held a torch to her performance with Ramin.
Oh absolutely, and the other way around as well…Sierra is Ramin’s Christine. I’ve seen him perform Phantom with other Christine’s, and that spark just isn’t there like it is with Sierra, the two just click together. They are both great actors but when it comes to Phantom they will forever be tied together in peoples minds, like Michael and Sarah, there is Ramin and Sierra.
When I first watched the musical, this was the only song that was stuck in my head. I could not stop replaying the part that went "silently the senses abandon their defenses" (0:24). He was so gentle with his voice. I absolutely love how he had her in a trance because of his magical voice and how his fears and insecurities were shown whenever Christine tries to touch his face. I cooed at the part where he stared at his hands in disbelief when he was carrying Christine. It's almost as if he truly believes he is undeserving of Christine, and that she is this pure, innocent being that he is not allowed or does not deserve to have. Recently read a post where someone said they like to compare this scene to the Final Lair just to look at how different Erik was (hopeful in MOTN but sad in Final Lair) and it's such an interesting difference. He truly adored Christine. Also giggled at how suggestive the lyrics (and their facial expressions!) were
“So gentle with his voice” this is proven even more at Wandering Child too, like it literally melted my heart 😭 if he sang to me like that I would gladly devote my entire life to sing for his music
They had put out The Phantom of the Opera and Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again, and I was happy about that, but I had also wished Music of the Night had come out too. Now it’s here and I’m so happy! And it’s the good version!

First saw Phantom in a touring production in Orlando, FL - very impressive. Next in Cleveland, OH - a great show. Then eventually in Las Vegas with Sierra -- she was terrific, although her Phantom that night was, well, good but unremarkable. THEN saw POTO 25th here a few months back - awesome, sensual, blew my mind, ears, and, well, other things (and I'm no teenager). Fell madly in love with Ramin's Phantom -- he owns the ground he walks on with a voice I can't get out of my mind. A dangerous and at the same time tender and very seductive Phantom. The connection between Sierra's Christine and Ramin's Phantom is waayyy beyond special. I purchased the digital download and have watched it numerous times, and then watched the show online again last week. What a deliciously exquisite way to get through these stay at home months! Thank you, thank you, ALW, Ramin, Sierra, Hadley and the rest of the talented cast. Please, please come to Broadway in the U.S., or put together a tour here for next year. I'm totally in love how Ramin portray The Phantom... The balance between acting and singing.... He uses the voice to hypnotise Christine to love him, his hands... damnnnn... that desperate in his express when he said 'trust me'... Yet everytime when Christine wants nearly touched his face... his fear and insecurity showed.... All in all love Ramin translation of The Phantom ♥️♥️♥️♥️
What I love about Ramin's version of Phantom is how he's able to take the powerful, operatic voice and combine it with such emotion. So many have great voices, but little emotion, and Gerard was overflowing with emotion, but had a rather untrained voice (still love his Phantom, though).
Yeah thr untrained voice killed it for me. The guy would have me running the second he tried to sing to save myself from the Auditory assault. Ramin has the emotion but also the tequnique
i love when christine faints he has a moment of like “uuhhhh what do i do with this i’ve never had one of these before. i’ll just set it down right here”
And this was the moment I fell in love with Ramin Karimloo. Absolute perfection. He captures the Phantom well. Sierra Boggess has become my standard for Christine and Ramin Karimloo for the Phantom. Their voices, acting and even the costumes suit them best.
4:08 The way Christine goes to touch his mask and he quickly grabs her hand and pulls it away horrified, and then he realizes how harsh and rough he was and that he scared her, looking at Christine then her hand and back at her. He tries to make it better by softly patting her hand, but you can see the guilt and shame in his eyes… All in a few seconds. Amazing! The stage direction is amazing and the actors did amazing!
He's the best Phantom I've ever seen. His every move is so true, so real, he really made me sympathize with this character. Just love listening to him, and the dinamic of the way he sings this song is awwww...best performance ever!!!
oooHalcyoNooo this is why UA-cam has become my hangout lately 😁 between the phantom videos, and anything else with Ramin, Sierra, OG’s Michael and Sarah, and Gerard Butler? I am living!
Alina Alcantara same. I’ve been listening to all three soundtracks on repeat since Michael and Sarah, Emmy and Gerard, and Ramin and Sierra all bring something new to the roles and it’s fun to compare them and I wouldn’t say anyone of them is the definitive phantom and Christine because they’re all different and good in their own way and also each one does something better than the other but worse in other areas.
If a Phantom sings to me like this, I definitely faint right away. Not just Ramin's singing, but also his and her acting, and their chemistry add up to this superb performance. Many of you have discussed his acting in details. His hand and finger movement are very sensual and expressive.

4:09 '' WHAT THE HELL WOMAN, DON'T TOUCH ME!!''
Technically, she was reaching for his mask so he did get a bit tense

...yea
Ramin is sensational! The way he delivers the Phantom's feelings is just wow - for example the sigh when Christine rests on his arm, the scare when she faints and then the short smile when he's holding her for the first time... Nobody has ever got so deep in the core of Phantom as he did, I'm truly amazed!
YES to everything you've said 🖤
Totally agree. Ramin is the best phantom ever.
Omg he gives me chills all over. Ramin's Phantom that is. I had no idea he was such a captivating Phantom !
I actually beg to differ. Gerald Butler conveyed the phantoms emotions beautifully
Yes! :D
He did that twice lol

😂😅
Michael Crawford does it best❤️
Cuz they practice
Great call outs.
Honestly, Ramin is the perfect Phantom, here are my reasons
You could t have explained it better! ❤

Ramin captures the role of Phantom as no one does ... his emotions, his chemistry with Sierra, his hand movements, and of course - his voice! Chills all the way through, especially his "Soar..........", "Be........", and the final "Night........"! Thank you, Ramin!
Yeah, Ramin and Gerard are amazing, they are my favorite Phantoms.
You should also try to listen to john owen-jones' version😊
There have been sooo many Phantom's over the years ... each one having their own flair. It's a shame more from the earlier years didn't have a chance to be recorded. I do enjoy John Owen Jones and others. If you have a chance, listen to Gary Mauer. He was in the U.S. national tour many years ago. Awesome!
@@karenpalmerkep oh... thank you so much for that recommendation..... he's really good😊
You're welcome, Peter.

Yes, touch me, but I'll grab your hand if you try to actually touch my msak.
Michael Crawford did it the same way. Ramin even says in interviews he copied that style as a nod to to him.
Well said.

A dangerous predator who stalks his prey? Oh, i can be his prey with all my heart 🥵🥵❤️
And by God, stop comparing a man who was victim of abuse and rejection with wild animals. Is that the way you treat outcasts like Erik? Ugh, spare me.
How did Sierra survive having this sung to her. My God, I melt into a puddle just watching it on UA-cam
Same. If a man sang to me like that he'd have my heart and my everything. Deformity or no.
LITERALLY!!
I mean she did faint at the end (kinda)
What can I say some guys got it some don't. Case in point: years ago when I still had a decent singing voice I once sang all the tenor parts in the Halleluiah Chorus. This was supposed to be a private Christmas concert for my wife. She merely nodded off to sleep when I was halfway through the oratorio.

It’s such a small detail as compared to everything else everyone’s been commenting on, but I love how Ramin carried Sierra so effortlessly when she fainted at 4:42. It’s just so graceful and ties in really nicely with putting her down on the boat.
My thoughts exactly! He does it so peacefully and beautifully 😍
Love his expressions too!
He moved the hat, moved my heart too :')))
He actually has some guns and abs under that suit. So yeah, he can carry her effortlessly.
Florie Actaully, Sierra must had leaned very tight with her forelimb on him to make that kind of effortlessness.
Finally! Sierra started crying right after Ramin sang "silently the senses abandon the defenses" You can see her tears at 1:15
Aira Tran OMG YES. It’s perfect....Christine is swooning at the sound of his voice. Reminds me so much of the original book.
That tear on her cheek, this was the best version I've ever seen! They are the quintessential Phantom pair.
Yes, she had a bug in her eye!
That not a tear of sadness but good stage craft.
I would cry
The extra details these two add pushes their performances to another level. Like here when Sierra is about to remove Ramin's mask. He quickly looks up in horror when he notices, and after he grabs her wrist, he quickly lets go and looks shocked that he actually touched her. And the way Sierra seems to flow between trance and reality as the Phantom leads her is perfection. Everyone has their favorite Phantom and Christine, but it's obvious why these two are so popular.
No other phantom does this
I love when in 4:09 he suddenly holds her hand, in fear that she takes his mask out! His acting is different from every Phantom I ever seen. Bravo!
Phantom: turn your face awayy

Me: nice
🤣🤣
who wouldn’t faint looking at ramin?
I'm a simple person. I see a new phantom upload, I click on it. Especially if Ramin is in it.
Me too. :D
Me three
oh my god. all of the different emotions that Ramin portrays in a character that could easily be played as one-note. starting at 4:40 - he goes from enraptured in her, to a moment of building confidence and suaveness before he touches her arm, to his look of "oh shit" as she passes out, to a kind of joyful disbelief when he realizes he's holding Christine in his arms, to complete tenderness, and all of that is conveyed to us through his acting alone in just ten seconds.
my other favorite moment - starting at 4:06, with pretty much just his face, he goes from serene, to losing his facade of confidence and growing fearful when she touches his mask and he grabs her wrist, to his panicked look of "oh god what do I do now" as he looks back and forth between Christine and her hand, to deciding to just run with it and gently taking her hand again (almost with a look of "yes this is what I meant to do right now, all according to plan, I definitely didn't just flip out for a second"), to looking confident and in control and knowledgable again, though maybe a bit more cautious. it just is such an incredible moment because it really makes the scene where she removes his mask later more impactful. even in this moment, he really didn't want to risk her seeing what he looked like because it would ruin the way she perceives him and you can see all of that just through his facial expressions.
I feel like I always envision the phantom in this song as being infallible and completely confident in what he's doing, but Ramin's take on him is so much more nuanced and complex than that and I love it so so much. his phantom is very much unsure and nervous about this encounter but he's trying to hide it, and almost totally succeeding at doing that. this is one of the most believable acting moments in musical theater I've ever, ever seen. this feels so real.
this comment. ❤️
ramin is incredible
I totally agree with your comment at the end when talking about him being confident and infallible in most performances starting with Michael Crawford. Not sure if you’ve seen him perform but at the part when the phantom
Is holding Christine “savor each sensation” part Sarah Brightman actually caresses and touches his mask.
I can't explain to any of you in words how much I relate to the phantom...
His hesitance, his insecurity, his longing, can be heard through this one performance. His hurt, his anger too. This is such a good phanthom!

The evidence that Andrew Lloyd Webber loves Ramin Karimloo:
-Raoul on The Phantom of The Opera West End (2003-2004)
-Gustave Daaé on The Phantom of The Opera film (2004)
-Erik/The phantom on The Phantom of The Opera West End (2006-2009)
-Erik/The phantom on the first production of Love Never Dies (2010-2011)
-Erik/The phantom on The Phantom of The Opera 25th Anniversary (2011)
Ramin is the only actor that plays three of Christine's loves: father, lover, husband.
I started to think that Andrew is #Rierra shipper.
I meant..... The plot of Love Never Dies is like a fanfiction of a fangirl on Tumblr who really ships both main characters :')
Plus, Andrew said that Ramin is the sexiest Phantom.
January Colnick a VERY valid theory, with exposition of possible evidence. Love this! 😃

Well, as a death fan of the musical, I can totally say that Ramin is the best Phantom ever imo. He has the attitude, the voice, and the talent overall to play the role. Perfect.
Don't ship real people, dude. Ramin is MARRIED with two kids.

I also love how it's immediately after the iconic pose too.
@@Ekinnajay Not disagreeing, but the part at 4:15 when he grabs her wrist is in response to his sudden panic that she might touch his mask. It wasn't intended as an attack, but as a defense.

Unbelievable, his voice is perfect Phantom

I cooed at the part where he stared at his hands in disbelief when he was carrying Christine. It's almost as if he truly believes he is undeserving of Christine, and that she is this pure, innocent being that he is not allowed or does not deserve to have. @@suelistens3392 I'm so jealous, I've never seen it live! I WILL see it when covid is over snd it ever comes back to Seattle, I'm bound and determined! Would also love to see it on Broadway or in London, of course, but that might be a bit out of my price range.
That's awesome that you've seen it live so many times, and still love this production so much, that makes me feel even better about it! Totally agree about Ramin, and his and Sierra's unparalleled chemistry.
Fantastic show, can't get enough of it.
Me too!
Their chemistry is EVERYTHING!!!!!!!
Ramin has the emotion but also the tequnique
i love when christine faints he has a moment of like “uuhhhh what do i do with this i’ve never had one of these before. i’ll just set it down right here”
I don’t know what to do with the girlfriend. Do I have to water it?
the little gasp at 3:49 my heart
These two seemed like they genuinely lost themselves in their performances. utterly breathtaking
Opinion: Ramin is the best phantom.
Fact: Ramin is amazing
Truth: This is beautiful and powerful in a very angelic strange way
The 25th anniversary performance is in my opinion the absolute pinnacle of any Phantom of The Opera showcase. It's simply divine in every way.
And this was the moment I fell in love with Ramin Karimloo. Absolute perfection. He captures the Phantom well.
Sierra Boggess has become my standard for Christine and Ramin Karimloo for the Phantom. Their voices, acting and even the costumes suit them best.
Same. I even prefer them to the original
3:10 the vowel and tone of “thoughts” makes my brain melt it’s so good I keep replaying it over and over
4:08 The way Christine goes to touch his mask and he quickly grabs her hand and pulls it away horrified, and then he realizes how harsh and rough he was and that he scared her, looking at Christine then her hand and back at her. He tries to make it better by softly patting her hand, but you can see the guilt and shame in his eyes… All in a few seconds. Amazing! The stage direction is amazing and the actors did amazing!
The chemistry of these two friends makes their performance so much more powerful.
They were a bit more than friends bud
0:25 The moment he hit the notes on the word "Silently"... I lost it ❤️🥺
... such an angelic voice
Yes i thought the note where he sang “senses” right after was particularly entrancing it just pulled me in and made me feel like i was floating.
That little gasp at 3:50 _aaa_
You can feel the "oh she's right _there_" as she collapses
Like, GAH I'm flippin out silently
I could watch this 1000 times. They are perfect together. Halfway to that 1000 as we speak...
the way he touches her is so wild like the emotion in this song and scene is killer
OK BUT WHEN CHRISTINE DOES THE NOD WHEN HE SAYS “this darkness which you know you cannot fight”😱😱
He's the best Phantom I've ever seen. His every move is so true, so real, he really made me sympathize with this character. Just love listening to him, and the dinamic of the way he sings this song is awwww...best performance ever!!!
I bought the whole show a while back but I came here for the comments and you guys didn't disappoint.
oooHalcyoNooo this is why UA-cam has become my hangout lately 😁 between the phantom videos, and anything else with Ramin, Sierra, OG’s Michael and Sarah, and Gerard Butler? I am living!
Alina Alcantara same. I’ve been listening to all three soundtracks on repeat since Michael and Sarah, Emmy and Gerard, and Ramin and Sierra all bring something new to the roles and it’s fun to compare them and I wouldn’t say anyone of them is the definitive phantom and Christine because they’re all different and good in their own way and also each one does something better than the other but worse in other areas.
Me: ok imma check my phone, then go practice my violin. *sees this notification* ok my orchestra audition can wait
You gotta practise your violin 40hours/day!
Cannot lie I was in the exact same position like “gotta go deliver this tea what’s in my notifications- *wait a minute*
Good luck on your audition
January Colnick yess Ling Ling
Julia Faith thank you🥰
Notice the slight shake in his voice at 1:47 'close your * eyes...'. Him cracking a small smile after that is so cool.
Your comment made me notice that and now I'm ugly crying at 12:50 AM
Pretty sure that's intentional vibrato, absolute genius
This will always be "THE" Phantom song. Amazing job.
If a Phantom sings to me like this, I definitely faint right away. Not just Ramin's singing, but also his and her acting, and their chemistry add up to this superb performance. Many of you have discussed his acting in details. His hand and finger movement are very sensual and expressive.
I literally was cleaning my room blasting the sound track and pretending I could sing opera and be Christine 😂🤦🏼♀️
Eva May Makeup This is good living😁👍🏻
Did you use your mop stick as a boat pole? Because I certainly did
@@beneddiected hahahahhaah

PLEASE Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, it's been 10 LONG YEARS since Love Never Dies version of Ramin and Sierra! Please let them do it again with a grand production. I'm begging you 😭 it will be PERFECT since 10 long years have already passed lol I LOVE LND SO MUCH and I could die hearing Til I Hear You Sing (I cried ONLY in his version), Beneath The Moonless Sky, Once Upon Another Time, Love Never Dies, Devil Take The Hindmost (Dang Ramin is PERFECT in this part. The wave and laughs ugh) , Look With Your Heart, and Beauty Underneath. PLEASE I'M BEGGING YOUUUUUU 😭😭😭😩😩😩😩🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️🖤
Time literally stops when Ramin sing this song
I have heard a few versions of this song and ramin karimloo is the best by far
That little tear at 1:13, it’s mind blowing to watch these two perform, it couldn’t have been any better, the facial expressions, the hand gestures, the acting and the vocals, no words
Such passion can be heard in Ramin's voice. He really is the best Phantom
Sierra and Ramin are like the best duo
Yeah, honestly they are the best phantom+christine duo, they both have great chemistry and their voices sound so beautiful together
Can we talk about how much emotions were deliverd with his control over his vocals?? The soft "eyes" when he sings here is enchanting 1:32
"Grasp it, sense it.."
"... sweet intoxication...
...Touch me, trust me, savor each sensation.." 😍😍😍 Every single word he sings... he acts with his voice and I feel it in my core! Absolutely outstanding performance!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
