@@TheRaptorPope I also feel like someone should go in the opposite direction and make a 2.5D Sprite version of the original Quake for GZDoom. I'm just talking out of my ass, though.
Ken did make a program to convert sprites into voxels actually, so it should be easier in theory, but they are also very flawed and need a lot of after touching.
large game developers are after maximum profits first and foremost, which retro remasters don't really provide when compared to microtransactions and other predatory practices
I'm really looking forward to Mod-Mixing THIS awesomeness!! I could see it giving The Thing's addon that extra panache... And the TOILETS! If it's compatible with The Shining's hotel addon... THE RESTROOMS WILL LOOK AMAZING!!! It's projects like THIS... And gettin' to watch everything DEVELOP... Just makes my favorite hobby EVEN MORE AWESOME!!!
It’s not that. Randy buried Duke. He doesn’t understand that independent development literally got him to where he is at now. And where Duke will be…forever. Besides, doom just does it better. But I would like to see if more devs can milk the original Silverman BUILD. This is impressive dude. Keep up the work!!
Non stop voxel monster! Now that I've seen these switches I'm envious for the same on the Doom switches, did they get the parallax treatment with all the other wall textures?
Sorry for asking, but will you do voxel models of the new enemies (and new objects like chairs) found in the new official episode for Doom 2 called Legacy of Rust? And also thank you from the ❤ for your hard work!
This is going to be the definitive way to play Duke3D. I have no doubt. If you're inspired to, please also do the first person hands and weapons for a completely 3D experience when played on a VR headset. Thank you for what you're doing!
This is the correct way to use the build engine. I don't particularly like the modern implementations in eduke32. I think it's like a good wine, which should be appreciated with its age, I mean, you don't appreciate wine just because it's wine, but mainly because it has aged. Build engine games are an art, improvements should be limited to the art form of it, using voxels, pre-rendered light in textures, light effects using sector light, textures with limited resolution and number of colors... Otherwise, the game becomes Theseus' ship.
There are as many truths as there are players. I don't have anything against a tasteful veneer of dynamic lighting and low res normal/spec maps(granted they are properly done by hand). Not necessarily that "high res pack" stuff from the early 2000s, but I think even that has its fans. To each his own. 🤷♂
They tried with the Doom weapon models but it was really hard to get it looking right and also make them look visibly 3d. It's not impossible but it would take much more extensive modding than just replacing the sprites.
Yes, but would be awesome to see how the game would look with ray tracing. Also, now that since a long time, every time that a new RTX mod comes out, that gives that game more visibility and allows more audience to notice the existence of that game, and Duke really needs more atention.
This looks waaaay more difficult than voxelizing Doom 1 and 2.
It also looks like it works a LOT better for Duke Nukem than it does for Doom's art style, too.
@@Hadouken9000 Duke 3d will definitely benefit from it more.

Sure.
But whit his talent and the experience gained with Doom voxels Cheelo can do it 👍

Duke Nukem 3D 3D Edition
This really puts into perspective just how many different decorative objects Duke Nukem 3d has.
How are you so good at getting the aesthetic right? Lol. Very impressive.
@ 1:00 "Duke, stop playing with your balls!"
It’s so beautiful…. Also crockets theme is my jam
Excellent work Cheello! Voxel all the things!
❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 you are killing it dude
the holoduke looks ginormous
I like how you are showing us the voxel models while getting actively shot in combat lol
I'm kinda impressed how perfect Crockett's theme is for Duke 3D to be honest
The Adam Friedland show.
your work is just out of this world
I remember being a kid and being so excited that the pool table had "physics" and now they are actually 3D balls I get that same feeling.
What i cant understand is why there isnt a line of large game developers trying to hire this man?
the rights holders to the old ID and BUILD games should be doing this officially and re-releasing voxel versions for $10 each
large game developers are after maximum profits first and foremost, which retro remasters don't really provide when compared to microtransactions and other predatory practices
I'm still surprised nightdive didn't hire him for the new doom release.
Because greasy Randall S. Pitchford the Third does not care about the IP he owns
They would do it if it was profitable for them. Right now it seems there is no interest in doing another re-release.

The sheer amount of voxel decorations is really gonna flesh this game out. I think Duke will benefit from voxels even more than doom did.
Voxels look way more fitting into Duke 3D than the earlier 3D mods
there is already a voxel pack for duke nukem 3d look it up. i just dont think they modeled the enemies or every item in the game.
Simply fantastic, as always!
Incredible, at least someone hasn't forgotten Duke.

Good stuff, keep it up!
This Build Engine is still quite impressive, even after 30 years. I wish more devs would consider using it to make smaller budget games.
hell yea these look perfect
Beautiful!
Dang dude, More goodies all the time!!
THIS IS HUGE
This is amazing

Any chance you're gonna make voxel models for the new enemies in Doom II's Legacy of Rust episode?
Cool stuff!
nice voxels bro
Come get some!

Your Blood voxel mod is buggy on fresh supply.
Would it be possible to voxelize the 1st person weapon sprites, or would that ruin the aesthetic somehow? I imagine you've tried by now.
