Man those palm trees seem like they were hell to vocalize. Duke 64 I remember had cool 3D explosions, so it'll be fun to see their voxel equivalents when the time comes~
This looks so authentic, that I'll like to imagine that this is how the game always looked, even though that's not true. With free mouse-look, the original 2D sprites of the "2,5D" fps-games somehow breaks the immersion in my opinion. I still remember the clunky controls of Duke Nukem 3D running in MS-DOS, with the PageUp and PageDown keys being used to aim up- and down. Voxels fit so well on modern sourceports of early 90s boomer shooters, where the sourceport fix the compatibility, controls as well as added features, while the voxels itself retro-modernizes the graphics in an authentic way.
For the algorithm! Man, I loved this game. The voxels just instantly make this "feel" better. I'm about to try out DOOM and II voxelized. I just hope gzdoom (is that right?) let's me use my controller because I can't play with M&K.
So cool. Really hope they update the engine to support 3D weapons eventually; the voxel enemies and items would be amazing in VR (just like Voxel Doom was amazing in VR) but playing with flat paper weapons in VR feels really off.
I've been wondering if you could make a voxel model of the Afrit from Hexen. But the more I think of it, it seems like it might not be possible to recreate the effect of the flames. Because the flames have a unique art style where they only exist as an outline. If the voxel model surrounded the Afrit with flame pixels, it would just look like a flame ball from all angles. I think it would need some new technology, a sort of voxel FX engine that can I.e. support Z-ordering layers. Another simple algorithm would be to hide all voxel pixels that are in front of (relative to the camera) the centerpoint of the voxel model *if* they correspond to a certain set of palette colors. Cheello, I'm curious how you would model the Afrit?
Here's to hoping Doom 64 gets voxelized, too, and I survive my illness long enough to play both projects.
I hope you survive too.
We also hope for you
Looking forward to Doom 64 get the same treatment too, you will live to see it hopefully 🙏
Incredible ! Bravo !

I can see you doing entire voxelized maps 😝😝
yea, the true 3D
Thanks for the effort.

Nothing can break my immersion in these games.
Always love seeing what you put out. Great stuff as always!
Wow, Duke nukem has a lot of decoration sprites
Awesome as always
Beautiful!
Played Duke Nukem 3D back in 1998 as a 6 year old and I never thought I'd be old enough to finally see a voxel hand dryer in Duke Nukem 3D
Superb work! These look much more fitting than the HRP models.
Miami Vice - Crockett's Theme
would love to see a voxelized version of Legacy of Rust! btw love Voxel Doom :D
For the algorithm!

Cannot wait to play this in VR.
So cool.

Interesting that the sea mine spins. Wonder why that is
Patreon get this sooner? Awesome work!
Very neat but the Battlelord lacks his facial expression and lightning when shooting. I suppose it will update.
good.
Genial
Can I ask which is the best Duke 3D source port to play this Voxel Duke?
no you can't ask that
i prefer to play it with Raze
@@cheello_art how’s Raze compare to Eduke32?
@@cheello_art BTW, are you releasing the Duke Nukem Voxel Pack?
Hey does that new Ray Traced Doom 2 contain your voxel models? If not, will they be imported?
Yes it contains my voxels
can ai fill in the missing frames for voxels
Not yet.
The Battlord still needs gunfire from the chaingun....
