Strong Filipino presence here in British Columbia, Canada as well. Hard working lads and I’ve enjoyed their hospitality.

Filipinos are actually quite adaptive and intelligent. In their own country they are bi lingual with Tagalog and English. Many more of these speak yet another dialect. Most it seems are tri lingual. Those in foreign countries acquire even a 4th language. Incredible people

I arrived and lived in Naples 1973 which was my first duty station in the USN. Filipinas were only in Rome and Athens. While on a port visit in Athens we met some who later came to stay in our friends apartment in Naples. Later in 1980, i return to Naples on a navy deployment; to my surprise, i noticed that Filipinas population has multiplied. It really showed how hard life was getting in the Philippines: corruption, politics and the hypocryte catholic church grip in peoples lives brought in by the Spaniards. Meanwhile, countries around the Philippines have expanded their own economy, surpassed the once rich in natural resources and prosperous economy of the Philippines it once enjoyed. I pray that someday it will eventually change under the management of PRRD and not be one of those corrupt Spanish colonized countries in Central and South America.

If politicians and government officials are not so corrupt in the Philippines, migration to other countries or Filipinos wanting to work in another country will be a lot less.

I am filipino-american, and I think that the beinf a domestic worker is wrong. You should improve your own government first, rather than working as a migrant. It's counter-intuitive to work in another country when you really should be working in your own to improve it.

+MPrime17 You're right, but Filipinos don't see it that way. Nowadays Italy is flooded with Filipina domestic workers, many of these domestic workers are College Graduates & were teachers & professionals in Philippines; as far as I know the few Italian domestic workers are ignorant, not professionals. I'm also an immigrant, I'm Italian living & working in Singapore, I'm not a College Graduate & I'm not working in Singapore as a domestic servant. English is not the language in Italy, I learned English in Singapore. English is the language in Philippines & still most Filipinos don't speak it properly. Ignorant Italians have more brains than Filipino professionals....lol

you may feel lonely on arrival since most italian do not speak english BUT IT IS NOT OUT OF REACH....Visas are given at the Embassy based on self sustainable cash at disposal.
For every 1 month visa you need 450 euro on your account.
So...3000 euros goves you 6 months even if you have nobody at the arrival. In italy is not so difficult to find jobs but the reality is that your income at the start will be enough to survive and not much else.Italian language can be handle easily in 6 months.

+Astor Many of them are educated as well, but governments from other countries refuse to acknowledge their training and schooling. The one thing I can say without hesitation, are the Filipinos have shown to be positive models for migrant workers. They don't freeload off the state, cause problems, or demand favouritism unlike the economic migrants coming from North Africa and the Middle East.

Any I will stop this nonsense viva italia. Viva Filipinos who strive to live a decent life there and best gelato ever. Would love to visit that country again and eat the real 🍕 yum. To the ones I've exchanged unsavory remarks I apologize. And if in the future we will meet here then let me treat you a box of praline. Mabuhay. May God save us all.
