You probably already know this, but as a fellow 49er and alumnus, I can tell you that none of the things you are showing us was around even a few years ago. I was a student from 2005-2009. At that time, Levine hall would have been part forest, part parking lot for Moore/Sanford, and basketball court. The basketball court was right in front of RDH. The court had a light machine where you'd put quarters in to play at night and the lights would come on for 15-30 minutes at a time. The building for RDH (Residents Dining Hall) was also there -- I think SoVi replaced it. RDH was beloved or hated depending on who you asked; it was always subject to acronyms like "Rats Dine Here" or "Raw Dungeating Heffers" LOL. Likewise, the North End quad of Miltmore, Wallis, Lynch, etc. used to be Wallis (then known as Laurel) and Lynch (then known as Cypress) and there were two parking lots for those buildings where Miltmore and Wallis stand. I think we have a happy fascination with naming buildings after trees before a building gets picked up by a donor LOL. Anyway, I brought those buildings up to say that the inside of your room reminds me A LOT of how my room looked in Cypress Hall back in 2005-2006. Some major upgrades I'm sure, but it took me back! We already have a new admissions office being built, a new gym being built next to the student union, Scott Hall is renovated, and new buildings will soon replace Moore and Sanford. Sean Brown As I am an upcoming freshman for UNCC, how does classroom numbers work? Example like SMITH201. Does it mean like it is on the 2nd floor, first classroom? I am just trying to figure out so I won’t get lost on the first day.
It’s probably not worth the money to get an apartment if you’re a freshman because you still have to buy one of the most expensive meal plans since you’re a freshman. If you don’t have any dietary needs that mean you really need the kitchen, if I were you I would skip the apartment your first year and try a four person four bedroom suite since you have to buy a meal plan anyways. There are also communal kitchens in all of the dorms. The main appeal of the apartments is that you can skip the meal plan entirely or get a straight DB meal plan.
How likely is it that I can pick what kind of roommates I want or possibly get a room to myself? I just don't want some 18 year old that's still learning how to be an adult and how to live with other people.
You can pull in roommates you know when signing up for housing. However, there’s no roommate quiz for random roommates. It is just completely random. With that being said, you’ll most likely have roommates like that and that is just part of the process of transitioning into college. Other options include single rooms which are pretty rare and limited. But also know it’s possible to have your own suite with 3 other roommates. I just happen to be in one that’s designed for two to be in the same room.
An RA is a Resident Advisor. We are students that watch over other students and connect them to the resources that we need. We also oversee the building and manage it under a supervisor. As a reward we get paid each semester, get money towards a meal plan, get free housing, and build upon on network. It's definitely something you should look into if you're a sophomore or older and are a people person. Your RAs should notify you when applications open.
Sean Brown I haven’t been on campus for classes yet. My soar orientation is the 7th. I’m afraid of not making it to my classes on time from Levine :-( it will be my first semester there.
@@Chrystal_A You should be able to make it to most classes unless you have some in Duke, Grigg, or Epic. Those are far but can be managed if you leave with adequate time. We also have buses that get you to places faster 👍🏼
@@Chrystal_A yeah, the walk from Levine to class is roughly 10 minutes to most classes. After that it's usually 5-10 minutes from class to class. You have 15 minutes in between classes though 👍🏽
There are only some dorms that offer single occupancy and are very limited. If you are a first-year, you should be able to put a preference in if the dorm has it. If you have lived on campus for at least one year, you will be able to claim the space if the spot is open during your registration time.

Isabella Wallace Nope. I am an upcoming freshman commuting back and forth for 40 minutes. It saves money, not life honestly. It makes a killing waking up early for 9:05 am classes for the first two weeks just for parking spaces.

Holy crap! That's the biggest dorm size that I've ever seen! Many of College dorms are 2 person sharing rooms and are much smaller.
My dorm last year was much smaller with 2 people lol. This is the most expensive one on campus though.
