Despite being someone who was completely jaded by Trivium's revolving door of drummers, Alex Bent has rapidly become not only my favourite Trivium drummer ever, but possibly my favourite drummer ever full stop. I feel like with chops like his, Alex is perfectly safe in the band but if the worst ever were to happen, I don't know if I could ever forgive Trivium for it. Alex Bent is an absolute fucking legend.
Am I the only one that hears some songs with Alex and thinks for a split second that it sounds slow? Then it hits me that every song is the exact album speed, and nicks timing was all over the place. Alex is like the new atomic clock. You can't speed him up or slow him down, his timing just is.
@@andreimatheus9306 But that requires tons of study and a steady technique to be effective (I mean with the right hits and the right groove). I mean, he always hit with the same energy and power, and that's absolutely not easy to do. He's beasty machine. Only Madiro was technically as good as Alex (but in a very different way and style). Alex is the best fit for Trivium's drums rn. Travis was good in songwriting but in time, I think he didn't practice as much as someone who wants to be in a band of pros. Regarding Nick, I just think he didn't have the right personality to stay in/with the group. It happens.
@@danieljordison0793 Worst thing about Nick was his goddamn overplaying.. Fast fills in places where they don't belong. The best example would be the live Version of Throes of Perdition live at Download 2012, Sounds like he is playing a different Song at times.
@@jameslove90 there was a time when Travis used to be really solid and that was during the pre-Ascendancy days. With the way he threw a fit during the Shogun DVD, it seems that he just got lazy/lost the passion in practicing.
Ya to think all those years he skipped school, getting g baked with his friends playing drums in the garage and constantly wasting his life away, to one day get a signing on his first album and from their everyone seeing his talent. But first u need the rich mommy and daddy to buy you the amazing drum set, then the rich mommy and daddy to either have the garage or the bug sounded off room for u to play In everyday and NOT GET MAD AT U FOR PLAYING, becUze they are musically declined. Thats what got him here. 😡
Amazing show, thank you all so much for coming to Austria/Nova Rock!!! I was in the circle pit, great crowd as well. Hope to see you again soon, much love from Austria
Honestly couldn't stop starring at that Farris wheel in the background, was hypnotizing at all the color patters it changes to and to know that their is people in those buckets while its doing it.
I think the first few albums have the most interesting drumsound, until sin and the sentence arrived and blew them away! Thanks for making Trivium metal again
Yo you just keep getting better! Should hit up some Moffett cymbal setups now. Haven't seen anyone hitting cymbals behind the head recently. Keep it up bro!!!!
Sensacional! 🤘🏿🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷 Aí fica uns geração do Download, no Brasil, dizendo que o Rock está morrendo. Não valorizam novas bandas, não querem pagar pelo trabalho do artista, aí ficam falando merda.

Travis Smith was a beast, tons of good work with Trivium, but man...Alex's ceiling is much higher, this dude can drum. Scary stuff
Alex is such a fucking beast and loves he’s craft.
Yeah but have you seen Alex Rudinger or Pete Webber?
Agreed. Not favorite drummer ever, John boecklin and krimh kerim are that, but definially tricks best
Trivium's beat*
Most facial expressions I’ve ever seen him make
Watch his stuff prior to Trivium. You'll see a far more wild Alex with a Fro.
The last song Chester Bennington did Alex drummed it and there's a video he shows lots of expressions
I don’t think they got your sarcasm... 🤦🏻♂️
Sick drumming!!!!! BOAT RUDDER STRANGE MOUNTAIN!!!!!

That's simple... It's because he uses click track for the songs. Super effective and the right thing to do!

What lots and lots of practice and dedication looks like.. flawless.. \m/
Considering he's been a tech death drummer his whole career, Trivium is low key drumming to him.lol

I misread "best trivium cover" somehow. I thought it was funny
🤣🤣🤣🤣
3:36 I love his little play with the ride adds so much and sounds amazing
My exact thoughts too 👌🏼🤘🏼🇬🇧
Dude, you are a monster. I hope you will stay in Trivium for ever.
His cymbal fills are insane!!
3:12 that snare hit
Don't you meant toms?
@@metalfan2346 nah he meant the snare hit at the very end of that fill
I heard more than one snare hit

4 hits to be exact played really fast
Thanks for uploading this, really cool to see!
everywere i go you there ! Awesome channel you have !
I didnt realise I could love this song more! Alex you are beast bro! Double ride ftw!
Adam Rooke As a fan of The Rev, I did not see that coming!
@@M4RCM0NT31R0 I know Rev was a genius behind the kit, but, before him was there Aquiles Priester.
Seeing them today at download, hopefully they do this!
you gave new life to an old song, and made it exciting again. so awesome
I forgot who said Trivium should remaster/rerecord all of their old albums with you. Definitely agree they should consider it
A rerecording of Ascendancy would be incredible
Wally idk Ascendancy is such an asskicker of an album I don't think it "needs" a rerecord but Ember to inferno oh fuck Yes!!
Keep the original screams though, they are irreplicable
@@BKF0 he literally can't do them physically anymore, so kinda impossible
@@Easelgames I meant like use the ones that are already recorded on Ascendancy
The isolation on this video is perfect! It took me a minute to realize this was live and not just rehearsals!
This is the first time I've ever bookmarked a song. Wow man....... just wow!!!
Absolutely effortless! What a machine.
Wow...honestly, I didn't know they have such a cool drummer...respect
This guy was born in another dimension, he's not human at all. What a great drummer.
the opening sound like the opening of sepultura's territory
Atir Singer I literally just said the same thing then saw your comment! 🤘

So natural and effortless!
This is a beautiful thing! Damn Alex! You light the flame for Trivium !

Best I’ve heard that song performed on drums since Travis. The double bass parts on the pre-chorus breakdowns are spot-on.
Only one album with alex and I'm in love
Such an amazing drummer.
Jesus Christ Alex, you’re a f*cking MONSTER! This gave me chills dude, so awesome!!! 🤘🏻😈🤘🏻
Great sense of melodic drumming! Awesome timing!
