      Not a hairstylist, but been many shades of blond throughout my life, and have used this to cut brassiness. Well, for ME this gives a whole new meaning to, "dumb blond!" Geez...

    It’s basic color theory. Complimentary colors cancel each other out.

    you recall me, long ago when my mom used to whiten the white clothes by adding that blueing liquid in final rinse. And i noticed that blue liquid was quite purple.
    Good idea.

      You can try substituting margarine. I thin it should work. And milk can replace cream, but use a little less

    When I need a really white icing, I replace the butter with shortening. You actually get a firmer buttercream that doesn't melt as easily, and there's less of a problem with having to counter yellowness.
    I tend to flavor mine with dark extracts, but still get pretty decently white frostings with shortening, using this tip of adding a tiny bit of purple will probably make them even whiter.

      It’s true. But I cannot stand the taste and mouth-feel of the shortening. Just my opinion. It’s very good for stability especially and humid weather also

    Always wander what if I added just white food gel color?? Cuz this trick makes me get a slightly purple tint .. I wanna avoid that 😔

    Wait !!! You add a 2 lb bag of sugar to 4 sticks of butter and it’s not too sweet? My recipe calls for only 1/2 a bag or 4 cups of sugar to 8 sticks of butter!!! This is your exact recipe always? I will try it today!!!!

    But does this method works for all types of BC? You did an ABC but for my cakes, mostly I use SMBC. Been following you in IG. Love all your vids

    Makes sense when you think of when your hair is dyed blonde but you want it brighter you use purple shampoo.

    Purple cancels-out the yellow and you can add a little Titanium Dioxide, Wilton's WHITE-WHITE (the same thing), or another whitening product. I have never seen anyone add the entire bag of Powered sugar at once.

      OMG, I am so glad I'm the only one who noticed that. Everyone in the comments say how amazing this "trick" is, and I'm just shaking my head like WTF. People have no tastebuds. This is a recipe for sugar cream, not for butter cream.

    Milk does the same job as cream and it still goes white , the longer you leave it whipping the whiter it becomes

    It is so hard to get it right. Tried to be chincy with the violet Wilton food coloring and it had a very, very light pink hue.

    Same principle as in using ujala ( purple dye, used by Indian moms ) for making white clothes perfectly white. Wow that’s sooo genius
