I'm a hairstylist who always uses purple to cut yellow in hair. Why did I not think of this? Brilliant!!
Right! I was thinking the same. Great Tip
Not a hairstylist, but been many shades of blond throughout my life, and have used this to cut brassiness. Well, for ME this gives a whole new meaning to, "dumb blond!" Geez...
I was literally just thinking omg its purple shampoo😂😂
Yaaa correct
any purple? Violet, lavender....and different brands have different formulas...help!
If you are the one who came up with this your a genius. Ive been baking for years and this blew my mind.
I bet there isnt a baker out there who doesnt wish they came up with this
Makes sense to use purple. Who knew kindergarten color wheel would help with baking. Love it!
Hahaha

It's like purple shampoo for your buttercream! Love it!
Exactly!
Amazing! Purple truly cancels out yellow just like hair dye/color!!!
Wow. This is amazing. I can’t believe this isn’t commonly known. Absolutely going to do this on the next cake.
Oh wow, this is exactly like toning bleached hair! Why didn't I think of this, genius 🙌🙌🙌
@Avril Killinger you are a terrible friend
Can you do one for facebook?
Exactly this is how you neutralize unwanted yellow tones in hair color. Simply awesome 👌🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🙂
Thanks!
I love this! Also kinda mad I never thought to try it, because I took so many art classes and should’ve remembered color theory 😂 Thank you!!
Thanks!
That's so awesome! I've done that when coloring my hair but would have never thought to do it to buttercream. 😍
I had the same thought exactly 🤣🤣
Just like the purple shampoo gets rid of yellowing... Genius 😊
Long time ago, this trick was used with indigo powder to keep white linens white.😉
It’s basic color theory. Complimentary colors cancel each other out.
Wow
you recall me, long ago when my mom used to whiten the white clothes by adding that blueing liquid in final rinse. And i noticed that blue liquid was quite purple.
Good idea.
I was thinking the same too 👍
I was just going to buy white food colouring. Thank you for this!
OMG! This is amazing!!! I definitely could have used this trick last weekend…but I will definitely use it for a cake next month! Thank you so much!
WOW! I am so impressed! Thank you Amy for such a great tip. Will definitely be helpful on next upcoming cake orders.
Wilbert Kuilan pls sis wat is d last thing she added to make it white
Wow! In all my years of baking I've never come across this tip! Genius! Just like toning hair!
Glad it was helpful!
It's like the concealer skills used in makeup😂
Your buttercream tutorial saved my daughter's birthday last month!! THANK YOU!! I wish I would have known about this trick, but it's all good!
You are so welcome! Thanks!
Was it too sweet? Did you make it exactly?
@@deborahtoole4427 I followed the tutorial, and it was perfect. Buttercream frosting is always super sweet...?
I love how even your dress looks like cake frosting!
what how...
This is brilliant!!!
My Mom made her buttercream with all shortening, no butter. It was delicious and very white.
Wow thats amazing!!! Wish I had watched this in the morning before I made my vanilla cake this morning... Haha
Thanks!
Well shut the front door!!!
What!!!! Thank you for your secrets 💖💖💖
Wow, thanks for this. Definitely trying this.
Thanks!
This is BRILLIANT..Thankyou Sooooo Much For Sharing this,God Bless you soo much. Can one use Margarine?Butter is sooo expensive here. Please reply and in what amount,Also is heavy whipping cream a must? What else can one use?
You can try substituting margarine. I thin it should work. And milk can replace cream, but use a little less
Please, have you tried with margarine and the milk. Did it work
I could hug you!!! This is the best tip! You're a genius, I've been searching for such a quick fix for years! Thank you.
You're welcome!!
When I need a really white icing, I replace the butter with shortening. You actually get a firmer buttercream that doesn't melt as easily, and there's less of a problem with having to counter yellowness.
I tend to flavor mine with dark extracts, but still get pretty decently white frostings with shortening, using this tip of adding a tiny bit of purple will probably make them even whiter.
It’s true. But I cannot stand the taste and mouth-feel of the shortening. Just my opinion. It’s very good for stability especially and humid weather also
Always wander what if I added just white food gel color?? Cuz this trick makes me get a slightly purple tint .. I wanna avoid that 😔
WowWOwWOW brilliant 😊 thank you for sharing. I'm a new subscriber from Perth Western Australia 🇦🇺 I have seen this done with hair 😄 Never thought to use it this way Crazy 🤪 😜 😳 😀 😉 😄
I just tried it and it really works!!! Thank you so much for your awesome tip!!!! God bless you!!!!!!!
Wait !!! You add a 2 lb bag of sugar to 4 sticks of butter and it’s not too sweet? My recipe calls for only 1/2 a bag or 4 cups of sugar to 8 sticks of butter!!! This is your exact recipe always? I will try it today!!!!
I used this tip today and it worked perfectly! Thank you!!
Thanks!
But does this method works for all types of BC? You did an ABC but for my cakes, mostly I use SMBC. Been following you in IG. Love all your vids
It also works on SMBC. I've tried it and it came out pretty white😊
Thanks for sharing! I liked it very soft and consistente 👏🏼👏🏼
This is exactly how you neutralize unwanted yellow tones in hair color. Simply awesome 👌🏽.
Is this work fot white chocolate ganache.. ?
I used to add white powder coloring before
I was gonna ask the same
Hi I enjoyed your baking you’re so intelligent and you explaining it nice and slow enough so we could follow the recipe and you are so smart I can’t stress that enough don’t give up whatever you making and doing all of us could use your talent you’re a very special lady I learned from you more than anybody You’re a special lady thank you so much❤❤❤❤
That’s crazy! Love you so much
Thanks!
Looks delicious but I can feel my arteries clogging... LOL...
Ha! Makes total sense... it's like taking out the brassy tones for blonde hair coloring. Thank you for this tip!
The most useful video for perfect buttercream… thank you 🙏🏻
I have the lavender kitchen aid as well but I have the glass bowl!😁😁😁
Just a few drops of white food coloring it does the trick 😜
🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 of course!! Why didn't I think of this before 🤦🏻♀️.
Genius!! 🤗💜
Thanks!
Smart Girl! 😉 Playing with complementary colors.
How many tablespoons of whipping cream did you use?
Makes sense when you think of when your hair is dyed blonde but you want it brighter you use purple shampoo.
Can someone help I think I added too much purple to my buttercream and it’s a faint pink/lilac
curious. since food gel os gonna be used anyway, why can't white food gel be used?
Purple cancels-out the yellow and you can add a little Titanium Dioxide, Wilton's WHITE-WHITE (the same thing), or another whitening product. I have never seen anyone add the entire bag of Powered sugar at once.
OMG, I am so glad I'm the only one who noticed that. Everyone in the comments say how amazing this "trick" is, and I'm just shaking my head like WTF. People have no tastebuds. This is a recipe for sugar cream, not for butter cream.
@@murryholesinska1446 I use the whole 2 lbs bag too.😊
@@jsecakes same
Wow I would've never thought of this before. Amazing!
Good to know. Thanks!
Thanks!
Who’s the loser than gave the 👎🏻? Haters gonna hate. Excellent info! Hope I remember it. 😝
😊😊😊
Milk does the same job as cream and it still goes white , the longer you leave it whipping the whiter it becomes
Omg 😱 donde están las cantidades y los ingredientes por favor
Que tipo de açúcar usate? Açúcar impalpável??
It is so hard to get it right. Tried to be chincy with the violet Wilton food coloring and it had a very, very light pink hue.
I wonder how much heavy whipping cream she added in total?
I always use blue colour in royal icing for wedding cakes UK
Omg ur a genius this could change how I decorate all my desserts thank you so so much this was awesome
Impressive!!!
Good job..fantastic recipe..love from sri lanka 🇱🇰 🇱🇰 🇱🇰 🇱🇰
How much butter we need....ratio of butter and sugar
Colour correcting for cream hahahaa who would have thought?? Hahaaha
makes sense - i use purple shampoos to get the yellow out of my silver hair, lol. clever !
But this didn't work me , what could be the reason?
This reminds me of ujala add ....4 bundo wala :D
My mind is blown! 🤯 I always use white food colouring!
Is there a specific shade of purple to use?
Any should work
Great tricks!😍 Thank you ❤️
You're so welcome!
What a fun trick! 🤍💜
Thanks!
Just whip your butter for 5 minutes untill the butter turns White.
Can this work for creamcheese frosting as well?
Shortening instead of Butter will make it whiter
If I do this, and add another color, (like blue). Will it turn blue?
Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question I'm just really confused and I don't wanna mess things up
It might make a green shade because yellow and blue make green
Old trick has been known for years..
I'm getting very light pink 😰 help please
I only have violet color from Wilton..will that color work too?
Do you think it works with white chocolate ganache too?=)
Artificial clear vanilla? What about the taste?
Can I use a blender if I don't have a mixer?
Wow, thats crazy cool!
Hi there,
What’s the name of the purple u used?
Same principle as in using ujala ( purple dye, used by Indian moms ) for making white clothes perfectly white. Wow that’s sooo genius
ibjust discovered this trick my own few days ago then found this🥰👏 thank you for sharing it too
What food coloring brand do you use?
I know what video you got this from.
Can this stay for 24 hours outside?
i try out most of your recipe and they all taste soo good! thank you
Thanks!
That’s so weird! Who’d a thunk! Add a tiny teeny bit of purple to make white? Absolutely brilliant my dear!
Will this work with white chocolate to make it more white?
Can i use it in cake under fondant??
Hi. Can i ise it in cake under fondant?
I use the balloon whisk and just let it go.
How much wipping cream did you add?
InshaAllah I will try 😍
First time watching...great tips. How many tbsp of whipped cream was used please❤️
Wow thanks for sharing your tips!
You’re welcome!
Can margarine be used instead of butter?
