How to Make Chocolate and Black Icing | Buttercream Recipe

  • Many people ask me how I make such an intense black buttercream icing. This recipe is incredible because it uses black cocoa rather than just food gel, which keeps it from coloring your teeth! It's also delicious!
    For the chocolate buttercream:
    1 1/2 cups unsalted butter (339 g)
    4 oz. cream cheese (may substitute butter)
    8 cups powdered sugar (2 lbs)
    2-3 Tablespoons heavy whipping cream (30-45 g/mL)
    2 teaspoons vanilla (10 g)
    Dash salt
    1/4-1/2 cup cocoa (25-50 g)
    For the black buttercream:
    To the above add:
    1/2-1 cup black cocoa (50-100 g)
    2-3 Tablespoons heavy whipping cream (30-45 g)
