Raul Julia, Gomez's actor, had been fighting stomach cancer during the filming of this movie. He was such a devoted actor who passed away too soon from this world.

The line I like best from the first movie is when Wednesday was selling lemonade and the girl asked her if they were made from real lemons, and then the girl tried to sell Wednesday Girl Scout cookies and Wednesday asked her if they were made from real girl scouts.
Honestly the sequel turned out even better than the original. It just builds up PERFECTLY on a prequel that was already good which makes this sequel great.
Honestly Debbie could've had the best life with the Addams. Fester would've been so devoted, she could've told him to crawl through broken glass then jump into a pool of lemon juice and salt, and he'd do it without hesitation.

1:39 You know, to get that effect, they had to shine a bright spotlight in Angelica Huston's eyes and it gave her constant ocular migraines. It's one of the reasons she absolutely hated playing Morticia.
Strong performance from Joan Cusack but make no mistake: this was the Christina Ricci show. She owned this movie HARD. Also, S'ok Sophia: You'll find you a simp, and you'll simp all over them too, and you two will live simp-ally ever after :)

@@nyygabs Greetings, Gabriella, we must have a similar interest in UA-cam channels. Ditto, I never questioned that until recently, but that's all part of the fun. 💖
It's funny that in her scary story, Wednesday says, "All their old noses had grown back," because Christina Ricci plays Penelope, who tries to change the fact that she has a pig nose. Blonde Pubert reminds me of Elora Danan from "Willow," with all that adorable hair and rosy face.
the fact that they used a set of TWIN GIRLS instead of a baby boy and it's noticeable when you find out (but not THAT noticeable I guess?) is even more hilarious
They also did that for baby Buddy in "Elf," although I think it was girl triplets that played baby Buddy. Same with baby Trevor in "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day," twin girls played a baby boy.
It's tradition to use twins or triplets to play an individual baby; movie and TV studio lights can dehydrate babies so quickly. The sex of the babies doesn't tend to matter.
This is definitely much better than the first one, in large part because they took all the goofy shenanigans and dialled them right up to eleven, and the entire cast were clearly having way more fun with that kind of energy. Joan Cusack is a way more fun villain than the previous film's one (does anyone else just hear Jessie from Toy Story whenever she yells at Fester?), and there's so many delightfully iconic scenes for Wednesday - her blunt summary of where babies come from, her intimidation of the prospective nannies, her hilariously creepy attempt at a smile, and of course her going ham on the -Hitler Youth- summer campers. It's the kind of campy kids' film that doesn't tend to get made these days, which I think is a real shame. Also, you mentioned the lighting on Morticia's eyes that's present throughout the entire film, that's actually an homage to the way her eyes were lit up in the opening of the 60s TV show
Fun fact: Pubert was Pugsley's original name that never ended up happening so it's nice to see that name come back around in some way. Also, the Nathan Lane cameo as the cop is extra hysterical when you realize he was the original Gomez Addams in the Broadway musical.
Perfect movie, in my opinion. It's so great that if you take the one central joke of the Addams family - that the Addamses embrace everything that 'normal' people find disgusting or stupid - and write honestly from that premise, you get a family that does things like kindness, emotional honesty, acceptance. Really underrated as a social satire. And yeah, they took a perfect cast (from the first movie) and improved on it somehow. Joan Cusack gets the role of a lifetime, there's even a better Grandmama in Carol Kane, and then Christine Baranski, Peter MacNicol, Nathan Lane and so on. A wonderful achievement, I think.
@@nina__serafina well the creator of said comics charles adams wanted to go for the angle that the audience put themselves in the characters giving them names would have ruined at that moment after all the joke.

The most ironic part of the whole Thanksgiving thing is that the guy who helped the settlers was a guy who'd been enslaved and dragged to Europe, then got freed halfway, spent some time learning English, then returned home and found his tribe gone from disease. So the reason he spoke English was because of that background.
While i adore the series as a whole, the sequel is by far superior to me. And Debbie's origin story does not get enough credit at all. I wish i could use that monologue to audition to theatre schools. Truly an iconic villain

Wednesday showed a lot more expression in this movie. When she was forced to be in the camp play her face give off a genuine WTF look. Also, I just found out a few years ago that the baby was played by twin girls.
By far Fester has the most expressive face. Whether its the eyes, like morticia and pugsley or the mouth, or even just a hand like thing. Its amazing to see it in movies such as these. They say the eyebrows are the big indicator in emotional expression. Fester does it even with just his dark circles. Christopher Lloyd is 🤌👨🍳 chefs kiss. Happy Thanksgiving🦃.
The nose job trope is super annoying to me, cuz like, they always are depicting the most Aryan looking people "getting a nose job cuz they are vain" but in reality it's not rich white people who do that for their daughters. It's rich middle eastern and Asian parents. I found that out from just trying to find references for my art and my God you would not belive the amount of rhinoplasty before and afters Google will show you if you look up dorsal hump (which I would have if my mother took me to the hospital when my brother's car seat slammed into my face, now I gotta save up just to get the one Sicilian feature I hade back). Noses are some of the biggest indicators of ethnicity and the fact that it is so common to see people just try to give themselves a more "conventionally attractive" nose makes me so mad because ethnic features are beautiful. Our ancestors didn't evolve over hundreds of thousands of years for us to see what they gave us as ugly.
"in reality it's not rich white people who do that for their daughters" I suspect that Aryan/white parents do it to their daughters WAY more than any of them want to admit. It's what we get with standardized and unrealistic ideals of beauty, and it's sad and gross.
I never understood why people had issues with any noses. Thank you for informing those of us that didn't know there was such a cultural factor in it. This is very sad. I think this movie is better than the first. Me and my son were Wednesday and Pubert his first Halloween
Wednesday's speech at the camp play is so iconic, the electronic group A Tribe Called Red sampled it for a song they released on Thanksgiving in 2104 (ua-cam.com/video/qnGnj_e6gBw/v-deo.html).
Ooo Wednesday! Queen of my heart!
'Wow! So many actors in this movie!' XD

Did anyone notice Pugsley trying to hang himself?
How the hell is there not even one use of the word succubus in this movie.
Best turkey I've had was from the Renaissance Faire
considering that fester couldn't die, i think that counts as not giving debbie what she wants lol
The little girl that plays Amanda also went on to play Harmony in Buffy The Vampire Slayer
Fun fact: Pubert was actually Pugsley's orginal name but was changed to Pugsley because people thought the name Pubert sounded like a dirty word.
Never been here before but I agree, this movie is really good! Also ur pretty cool, I may stick around here!
I didn't know this fact till like a couple of months ago but the girl that plays Amanda Buckley (aka the girl scout) plays Harmony in Buffy the Vampire Slayer
