House of the Dragon is an American fantasy drama television series created by George R. R. Martin and Ryan J. Condal for HBO. It is a prequel to the television series Game of Thrones and is based on Martin's 2018 novel Fire & Blood. I normally change computers (my normal one vs my recording one) when I'm about to record with Preston and that is located in another room. I didn't have time to switch over to it since this all happened so quickly. I hate that I was using my headset mic but yeah....also I was a little nervous, I didn't want to come off as a douche for interrupting Mauler and Destiny but i also wish I had a bit more time with him 1 on 1. Talking to Mauler was very cool though

Just started watching Carmine - but I think like Preston has told you before, they didn't *run out* of Book material for a lot of these characters - they discarded and threw out entire plot lines. If they had wanted to, they could have either made several seasons out of Feast/Dance, or if they'd had enough - passed the reigns.
It'as both, honestly. They needed book material to continue onto the final season and they didn't have that. They had other plotlines like the Dornish stuff and the insanity happening over at the Citadel they felt didn't contribute to the final stretch of the series.
I can agree to an extent. But remember, they made Storm into two seasons to ensure they paced the events, but then took the timeline of Feast/Dance - and did two books in effectively one season, with isolated moments from the books thrown in later without their context (The Kingsmoot, the siege at Riverrun etc.) Not all of those storylines they dropped were wacky or unfitting!
If the writers hadn't felt the need to so clearly sprint for the finish line, and had spent the time pacing the development of their characters - they surely would have had a far easier time bringing the characters' stories to a satisfying close, no?
Rewatching GoTs later seasons is just pain

Get Nerdrotic on there too, he'll offer better insights on the books than Mooler would. The Longman hasn't read the books, but his character insights are always interesting. Plus, seeing Preston and Nerdrotic in one video would be excellent. Just as long as they stick to talking about ASOAIF they'll hit it off.

As someone whos comes from the movie review/asoiaf side of youtube, i never thought I'd see carmine, mauler, xena and destiny all talking about game of thrones this is a weird crossover event lol

Was Xena a big deal before that drama with breaking up with Sneako happened? I'd never heard of her until Sneako imploded and she started entering Low-Destiny Orbit, becoming friends with Ahrelevant and Darius. I knew Sneako had a girlfriend that he and Destiny would talk about vis-a-vis his misogyny but I never got the impression she was a known name in her own right.
MauLer is pretty cool,and his videos for got season 8 are gold. Carmine,you should have one on one with him sometimes in the future,and also,MauLer and efap guys think Andor is peak star wars
Andor is my favorite Star Wars TV series, I love Andor... but it's a very specific, unique strain of Star Wars, so it's odd to me to call it peak. It'd be like if a Star Wars story about the Modal Nodes and the Max Rebo Band having a battle of the bands at Galaxapalooza was called "peak Star Wars". Man, the Max Rebo series was _great,_ I loved it, it was a great show _and_ a great Star Wars show, but it's a very niche part of the Star Wars universe that shouldn't be visited _too_ often.

The Strauss subplot in Oppenheimer was important, because it a) shows how meaningless personal conflicts are in a world that can now destroy itself and b) serves as a microcosm for the overall idea of being motivated of what you think will happen.

Speaking about The Long Night, I don't get why nowadays filmmakers have so trouble filming at night. I remember as a kid they were many tv shows and movies at night and we could see everything. From Kolachak to even Superman...to even Annie for crying out loud. But for whatever reasons this generation, there are always issues. I wonder if there's a link to film vs digital. But anyway we need a longer stream between Mauler and Carmine/Preston.

I own the Blu-ray for season 8 and that battle at Winterfell is still pretty dark, you can see things a bit clearer but the lighting is still problematic.

I think the prequels are bad but the volcanoes/lava were practical and some of it was actually real footage of a volcano that had erupted during the time of filming

Destiny is so ignorant on the prequels, ILM was ground breaking for the original trilogy and they were even more so with the prequels. Most people would say LOTR was groundbreaking when it released and the first one released 2 years after TPM. A good amount of the prequels is practical effects!
I suspect that George will still probably at least finish and release Winds before Preston and the excellent collaborators finish. HOWEVER, I def hope that even if George’s Winds is different than what they are doing, they get started on a Dreams fan fic for George’s Winds. They would definitely finish before George ever finishes Dream

There was plenty of book material book material left after S4. For sure GRRM screwed up as did D&D but D&D did have enough not to create such a horrific butterfly effect and "forget" about everything they previously adapted.

The only work of fiction Destiny has ever read was _Ender's Game,_ which matches up with a lot about his psyche. Growing up feeling like he was smarter than everyone else, getting into Starcraft. All the kids I knew who read _Ender's Game_ thought of themselves as gifted children in a rather snooty way. I love Destiny by the way.

Most of the books/seasons are people sitting around not doing anything until the end. 6 had Dany going to Westeros, Jon becoming king, Cersei becoming queen, hold the door, BOTB, Jon’s resurrection, tower of joy. Compare that to other seasons like 3 where the only major thing to happen was the red wedding. That doesn’t make season 6 better but what your saying is inaccurate. I’d argue the reason season 6 is where the show ends for most people is, unlike feast and dance, the story finally progressed! A big problem with season 5 is that copies the pacing of feast and dance, where collectively between both books the story doesn’t advance from where storm ended. I’d also argue that you can tell 6 is based off some unreleased winds stuff, as the writing hasn’t gone off a cliff like 7 and 8. George clearly was more involved with 6. Plus no Dorne also helped a lot. 6 is the only season bran’s storyline was interesting, the first time Dany was interesting since season 3, and cutting down on a lot of the pointless subplots was a smart move at the time.

While yes Dany losing drogo and rheagal could be a political advantage in a cold pragmatic way but the trauma definitely broke Dany at the time, she hurled herself into a pyre with her husband over it and could have very likely played a huge role of the madness Dany displays later if not start her down the path of being a mass murdering lunatic in the first place. Felt weird Destiny didn't see that.

_The Last Jedi_ was a great movie, a great _Star Wars_ movie, and a great Luke Skywalker story. _The Force Awakens_ was limp, a stillborn story, and any extent to which Rian Johnson veered off a path J. J. Abrams set was a great choice. Johnson took a bad story in _The Force Awakens_ and somehow alchemically transmogrified it into gold. _Last Jedi_ was to _Force Awakens_ what _Clone Wars_ was to the prequel trilogy.

Not exactly. Mauler, in this video, acknowledges that if it wasn't for Last Jedi his channel would not be where it is. A grifter is someone who puts out stuff they don't necessarily believe in. Saying the sequel trilogy is terrible is not a spicy take nor is it grift. I checked out his stuff and hes not on any level Drinker or Nerdrotic is

I watched Nerdrotic at the same period too but after that he was just a grifter thru and thru, there is no real substance, it's just bashing media for identity politics and pure misogyny. Which is why I stopped watching. I consider substance-less rage bait ppl grifters. I'd still watch Mauler if the topic interest me but if it's with the other guys, I'd skip. Shad is another grifter.
