    After 2.5 years of dealing with post concussion symptoms (headaches, blurred vision, chronic fatigue, difficulty driving without increased symptoms, poor visual memory, trouble finding words etc) I was evaluated by a neuro optometrist and had a wide variety of concussion related problems. After starting vision therapy and the support of prism lenses I almost all symptoms have disappeared, I'm progressing wonderfully in my therapy and I feel like myself again! A few other post concussion friends have had the same awesome results. Nice to see this topic being discussed.

    Wow this is spot on for how I've been feeling since I fell. I had a minor concussion a month ago and I've had pretty much all of these side effects since. I'm starting visual therapy today.

    Great video. Differentiate the anatomical systems during a complete and holistic assessment. Grade the individual systems performance and correlate to symptoms. Then create a plan to address each affected system in a compressive and graded way. Make sure the person you see for an assessment will assess comprehensively!

    I had the beginning of dv now determined to be strabismus, in 2020. I was trying to find a dr to give me a prescription that took away the dv. Then in 2/13/22, I fell backwards and hit my head on a concrete floor. I stood up after, shaking like a leaf. I was so grateful to not break anything as I was 68 years old, that I didn’t realize I should’ve gone to the hospital. Fast forward 1 to 2 months, I started having tinnitus, never had that before, head pains behind my eyes, extra neck pain, fluorescent light problems, decision making problems, depth perception problems etc. I went to many Drs because I thought I had dv problems. That it was just worse because of the uncorrected dv. I had 39 weeks of vision therapy where I wore fresnel prisms on both lens. Done with vt and still had double vision but I felt a little better. My dv was at least stable now and I could wear thick prisms. Last week because I was still not very stable, I turned around in my living room and cracked the same back part of my neck on the window ledge. The symptoms, without dv are all back! I realized I must’ve had a concussion the first time and I had just had another one! I don’t even know what to do anymore.

    I 100% agree that the neck is very involved with the vision problems I see in clinic. Concussion rehabilitation is very much a team approach. I have often found when patients feel WORSE after vestibular therapy it’s because they have unresolved vision issues. When they’re not making improvements in VT, it’s often a neck issue.

Some soft tissue work depending on your case. And some types of acupuncture are also useful. Regular stretching also ( and finding a suitable sleep pillow is what I wpuld recommend)

    So I had a car accident almost 6 months ago where will hit us doing 70 from the side? I had a lot of pressure behind my right eye. It went down to my jaw a few weeks later, but I still have the pressure behind my eye I cannot read or do math, bright lights crowds too many people talking are some of the symptoms. I’ve been doing some alternative therapies and was told my C1 C2 are an issue. I know that is dangerous. Waters to tread so whatever is done. There has to be done carefully. Can this be causing my ability to read and do mathand all the other symptoms that are going on. I am going to see an eye specialist. That’s also a neurologist soon. They did some light testing on me and the concussion became worse for a week. I seem to have more pressure behind my right eye again, and more brain fog.

    What would the neck issue be and who is best to see for it? I have done pt, chiro, massage, xray, mri- only disc issues are low neck, my issues are upper cervical. Done VT, done some VRT.. people send me in circles..

    • @CompleteConcussions
      @CompleteConcussions  Рік тому

      These issues are usually not found on X-ray or MRI. It is usually muscles and joints. They tell your brain where you are in space and they communicate with your eyes and tell them how to move. If they are dysfunctional, your eye movement is altered and you feel off (visual motion sensitivity issues, skipping vision when tracking, etc.). These issues are also complex and require a clinician who understands the complexity of how the neck influences visual function. So just because you've done chiro, PT, etc. doesn't mean that those you saw were experienced in treating this condition. It could be that your neck is not the issue (could be vision, vestibular, etc.), or it could be that the practitioners you saw weren't right for the job.

    I went to an Optometrist recommended by my neurologist months ago and had an exam. The optometrist said the mild saccades they saw weren’t enough to warrant visual therapy, but ever since I got a concussion over a year ago my iPhone screen just looks weird. It’s hazy. I try to focus on a letter and it feels like my eyes are shifting or blurring. Blue light filters help but not entirely. I’ve wondered if this visual issue is purely brain fog from inflammation (keto helps brain fog) or do I need to get a test from a neuroptometrist who who specializes in concussion?

    I was laying on the floor with my fingers resting underneath my head to provide comfort and then for some reason I unconsciously decided to move my fingers from underneath my head and my head hit the floor. Only an inch of impact which would be height of my fingers. I didn’t really think anything of it but it did hurt. Next day I was experiencing nausea and 5 days later nausea came up when playing hockey and I have a sore spot where my head hit the floor. Concussion??

      This usually means that there may be some underlying systemic issues that are not allowing your neck to recover after treatments - chronic inflammation, stress, etc. You may need to do some foundational work. Check out concussiondoc.io - Concussion Fix program walks you through how to build the right foundation.

I’ve never had a head injury. I’m paying a fortune for visual therapy but making no improvement. My neck was assessed by a physiotherapist and was ok. I don’t have any balance issues. Just bad brain fog, blurred vision, troubles reading and comprehension, painful/tired eyes, light sensitivity. I’m thinking this is all neuro-inflammation but doesn’t seem to resolve. Thanks!

    I developed an eye turn (esotropia) as an adult 35. I've had mri and blood work all come back clear so the doctors can't find a reason for it. My best theory is that I was doing a lot of near work and got a horrible stiff neck for 3 days, some time after this is when i noticed something being off with my vision. I want to avoid the strabismus surgery and im going to see a vision therapist soon. Does my neck theory sound plausible? I get double vision only at distance i can get fusion but only if i focus hard and even then i can only hold it for a moment. Im afraid surgery is overkill for treating this.

      But not all. I have significant neck issues since the injury and unless head injury can cause neck issues also, then I would say an X-ray and even an mri does not detect all neck issues. Chiropractor 5 days a week for months, with massage, acupuncture and physio could not repair it. Physio even tripped off terrible headaches. MRI for me does not neck damage. I also have blood pressure headaches upon exertion since the head & neck injury. Diastolic often coasting along at 93. Sometimes I wonder if these make my neck worse. My vision is a mess. Even looking at trees or words makes me so dizzy. Either way, an X-ray may not be sufficient to rule out all neck issues.

    So, I have basically all the symptoms you’ve been listing on the screen. I see a concussion therapist for over 3 months now and things improved, gladly. Went to see an optometrist and discovered that my prescription dropped significantly. Still I’m having a lot of brainfog, car sickness and a lot of other symptoms like difficulty with reading, scanning situations etc. Do you think this will become less with ‘just’ a new custom prescription for my glasses or is it still worth looking after my neck and do the whole eye-workout-routine?

    • @CompleteConcussions
      @CompleteConcussions  2 роки тому

      Hi Jacky - it could be other issues entirely. Brain fog for example seems to be highly linked with neuro-inflammation which is tied to gut issues. Car sickness and visual motion issues could be neck, could be vision, could be combo. It's important to look at things from the 5 main drivers of Persistent Symptoms - check out our patient video series on this channel for more info on this!
