Motorcycle racing 98% of the time = Late nights messing with the bikes, blowing money on stuff, filling vans with suff, driving vans for hundreds of miles, taking stuff out of vans, putting up awnings in gale force wind and rain in the dark, late nights messing with bikes in awnings, changing wheels, changing tires, changing wheels again, changing sprockets, changing more tires, changing wheels again, wondering where all the expensive petrol has gone, filling vans with stuff, driving vans for hundreds of miles, taking stuff out of vans and relax. Motorcycle racing 2% of the time = Riding the bike, glory! Oh and not forgetting the utter crushing frustration when it all goes tits up! STILL THE BEST SPORT EVER! Bikes look epic btw.
This series of vid's is just superb, it really gives a perspective to us mere mortals of what is involved in riding the TT from a newcomer point of view. The preperation, the emotions and the euthoria of riding the best race track in the world.
This had such a big 'behind the scenes" feel to it & knowing the little details is wonderful. Getting it all from a newcomers/riders perspective is brilliant, keep it up Al! Best of luck & most of fun!
I never comment! it was such a good verbal run through of your first lap at the end of the video that I felt I should. great video. well done and good luck! Keep er lit!
Top tip, when removing tyre stickers, wait till they've been in the warmers for a bit, the heat melts the glue after about 10 mins the glue melts and they come off much easier.
Great video Al. Awesome to see it from a newcomers perspective. 98mph first time out is very respectable too. Have fun and most of all keep it upright.
Was lucky enough to be there watching and cheering you on Al. Massive respect to you mate👍👍 In my view, you are now a fully paid up member of the "Huge Titanium Balls Club", well done mate!!!.........
Great video!! I really like the transition from confidence to nervousness, to sheer exhaustion from everything that you had to take in. Keep them coming. And well done on your laps.
Shame. I cant imagine taking corners flat in sixth. To be honest I dont think I'd enjoy it! I suppose you ride within your limits and ignore any pressure. Stay safe and enjoy it!
Anyone who thinks motorbike racers are mad for risking so much, just need to watch this video. Really feel the emotions here Al, brilliant stuff. More insightful than any documentary or TV coverage I've seen.
I'm re-watching all of this, and this one's very good. I'm getting nervous just hearing the bikes heating up and thinking: He's going to do a newcomer's lap in a bit, fuck. Big respect Statham!
mix of emotions watching it - nerves, excitement, (oddly pride from watching the journey and best wishes) and jealousy of not being on the bike! Looking forward to seeing lap.,
I need to do some of the wire locking on my pit bike, that vibrates any little bolt you can think of out xD Loving all the TT coverage from you and ITV ;)
98 mph is impressive though for a first lap. I've only watched the course on tv, but I was trying to guess what I could do if I did try as an average speed for my first time. I was guessing like 70-80mph legitimately, regardless of the bikes power. A liter bike probably wouldn't help me much on the TT.
Looks awesome! I had an SV650s. Loved that bike. I might need to build one of these though, I really like the newer tube frame. Is that a 160 rear tire or are you guys squeezing a 180 back there?
Evening Al, Just saw this series for the first time, And it just got the memory banks going again, From all the way back to 85, On a LC when the proddy race was still going and also a passenger on a chair, No newcomer lap back then, No sat in a marque with people to help out, For the first morning practise i rode the LC to the paddock ready to go, after doing 4 hours of my night shift at the bakery, And then straight back to work,, Would i do it again ? Hell yes, The TT course is a bug that needs scratching, more so when you were born there, Great vlog,
Well done on the progress so far Fagan. If you can go film the Suter and get an interview with the crew. Out of interest what did you have to go through to get your race license for the TT ?
M T a lot more than that involved. I'm currently working towards my mountain licence, first you need 10 signatures to upgrade to clubman then another 10 within 92.5% of the race winners time to upgrade to national. Then 6 with preferably a few roads thrown in ie North west 200 etc.
as soon as the spark plugs burning up was mentioned I had a feeling the engine was gunna lock up on you... glad you kept it upright mate. I assume you have another bike/engine by the sounds of things... May it be fast and you be safe :-) looking forward to more videos :-)
Lol "that most gp rides wouldn't even touch", no brainer here! gp racers make for a living... MILLIONS...along with super star status tag...where as a time trials riders "TT riders" only earn £££'s in comparison to a gp racer, along with a name tag for a TT racer of having..BIG BALLS..for doing such a thing,... "and rightly so"... but given the choice I know what I'd choose to be if I was good enough to become either one, I'm sure too, if the choice was given to the TT's main man himself John McGuinness as I'm sure you all wouldn't see him race the island again given the choice I'm sure....respect to all that take part in the TT's tho,..... but please don't ever confuses the two types of racer here BlueHokage, as motogp racers are at the pinnacle end in the sport of racing bikes in comparison to where TT riders and bikes are....no disrespect to TT riders tho,
Well done... Even if you didn't break the 100mph barrier it still takes a lot of balls! I would love to ride the course on closed roads.. My closest came when we were late finding a viewing point and the roads were just about to close so the hedges etc were all lined with spectators... I felt like McGuiness for about 4secs
Well done mate! When younsaid about ginger hall up to Ramsay, i went the tt for thr first time, i went round and that was the most scary part of the circuit for me. The entry to my campsite was the 22 mile marker board. It is scary through there. What do you think of that section?
Did it lock up because of the electrodes being worn away? I really love these videos. All of you guys, including the JHS crew, seem to have a real fire for motorcycles and motorcycle racing.
I have always thought of getting ready for the TT as being similar to getting ready for a battle.............I'm really glad you said that, because if ever my balls were big enough, I'm sure that's how I'd feel. The unspoken yet overt acknowledgement that you're going out there, and you might die. That tap on the shoulder. Sounds over the top when you type it out - but it's completely true. Congrats mate!
Why are all your tech support from Plymouth or down that way, love-em. I also love the gold stripe jacket!!! And, I tip my bonnet to you from what you said at the end interview!! Great job 44.
Holy freakin sheet. That's one thing you never got in closer to the edge how is a new guys perspective. And I still find it hard to believe how many road spec bits are on the bikes. Good luck and don't crash
If you pause at 4:46 you will see that the spark plugs have not been torqued in correctly as the sealing gaskets have not been compressed properly. This is the reason for the broken ground electrode on one of the plugs as it has been subject to excessive vibration because of insufficient tightening torque. The plug insulator colour would not suggest any overheating. Good luck everyone and safe racing.

Well summed up!
Literally any form of sport ever. Most of the time is prepping the only a tiny amount is doing what you've prepped for

Even though you can't show any footage, the way you talked about it was so vivid that I can see every corner. Brilliant videos guys, love the work
Well done. I recognise myself in most of your words when I remember my first outing there. Good luck for the race today.
Great video Al. Awesome to see it from a newcomers perspective. 98mph first time out is very respectable too. Have fun and most of all keep it upright.

brilliant video mate, didn't want it to end! ;-)... stay safe out there! ride within your limits and you'll be grand!
And your lap was incredible! Thank you so much for sharing...
great video, i'm looking forward to what follows. thanks for sharing :-)
Great video!! I really like the transition from confidence to nervousness, to sheer exhaustion from everything that you had to take in. Keep them coming. And well done on your laps.
Just as a general FYI: due to TV rights, we can't show any action or onboards.
Shame. I cant imagine taking corners flat in sixth. To be honest I dont think I'd enjoy it! I suppose you ride within your limits and ignore any pressure. Stay safe and enjoy it!
Just buy a 250 if you want to take turns pinned in 6th haha
That blows. Still love the videos so far! What about the recorded on board sound?
booooo a thousand curses! Booooo! Hissssss...no one hisses any more, I'm bringing that shit back...hissssss.
surely you are allowed a couple minutes of track footage under fair use statutes
Anyone who thinks motorbike racers are mad for risking so much, just need to watch this video. Really feel the emotions here Al, brilliant stuff. More insightful than any documentary or TV coverage I've seen.
I skydive... really fucking fast free falls, silk and nylon, and the ground separate another jump, or certain death...TTs cool though.
It was a pleasure to meet you the other day in the paddock, all the very best for your race in a few days time!!
Fair play Alastair, massive respect for all the competitors out there. Takes a lot of guts and courage.
Great video!
This kind of insight and honesty will make 44teeth special - great stuff!
Great to see an inside perspective for a new TT rider. Good luck Al.
Good stuff Fagan, looking forward to the next installment of your TT journey. keep up the good work bud!
Brilliant Al thank you, I almost produced a tear !! superb all the best to you and thanks for the candid share.
You just get better and better in my eyes mate 👍🏻 WHAT A LEGEND
A great insight into something most of us will never do. Thanks for uploading!
*BEST UA-cam MOTORCYCLE CONTENT PERIOD* keep up the good work guys.
First TT, bike locked pinned in 5th and your still smiling, just! Fair play fella that looked like an emotional rollercoaster.
Love it! Thanks for the candid perspective. Looking forward to more!
Wow that was great. A perspective you don't usually see of the TT. Good luck Alistair!
have fun, ride safe, bring it home....
cant ask no more of any one who rides the TT.
excellent video, exactly what 44teeth is for
good luck Al, weather is looking positive all week, I'm sure that's going to boost that confidence even further
I'm re-watching all of this, and this one's very good. I'm getting nervous just hearing the bikes heating up and thinking: He's going to do a newcomer's lap in a bit, fuck. Big respect Statham!
Epic. Your excitement and emotion really comes across in the video. Good luck with your 100mph goal.
mix of emotions watching it - nerves, excitement, (oddly pride from watching the journey and best wishes) and jealousy of not being on the bike! Looking forward to seeing lap.,
what a great video, been watching the build up to this, just awesome. keep up the great work guys
I need to do some of the wire locking on my pit bike, that vibrates any little bolt you can think of out xD Loving all the TT coverage from you and ITV ;)
Would be great to see some onboard or fly by footage of Al riding. Cant wait for more TT content!
TV rights don't allow it
Happy to hear from you - keep the updates coming please ! Hope u have a great run !!
Love ❤ this .please guys be safe ,thank you so much for everything..
great videos been great watching the tt online then coming and seeing your view of how you guys are doing all the best.
98 mph is impressive though for a first lap. I've only watched the course on tv, but I was trying to guess what I could do if I did try as an average speed for my first time. I was guessing like 70-80mph legitimately, regardless of the bikes power. A liter bike probably wouldn't help me much on the TT.
Fantastic lads. Bloody living your dream! Stay safe, and have a great time. ☺
Great to get some news! Keep up the good work Fagan.
Thank you, I look forward to more!. Good luck and best wishes. cheers.
Looks awesome! I had an SV650s. Loved that bike. I might need to build one of these though, I really like the newer tube frame. Is that a 160 rear tire or are you guys squeezing a 180 back there?
98mph ! Well done mate
Great insight for blokes who want to know how it feels to ride closed roads.
Awesome brother. Can't wait to see how you go. Stay safe.
Very interesting, thank you for the insight!
One question I have, is the amount of wire locking done required by TT rules?
Well done Fagan! You've got bigger balls than me,keep it up and just get the laps in👍🏻👍🏻😎
Well done fella, hope your enjoying yourself keep the videos coming 👍🏼🏍☀️
brilliant vid man
This was amazing! I had no idea you were pro. So awesome!
Love the vid man! Can't wait for more! Good luck out there!
Can't believe that Transitions hasn't done more photochromic visors. Seems like it would be a brilliant addition to any racer's kit.

very honest video man, i sincerely wish you all the luck in the world, keep it up!
Big up respec to you and your MASSIVE TESTICLES Al. Good luck for the event.
Great vlog, love the behind the scenes footage at the TT!
This was really interesting to listen to! You've got a nice bull size pair of balls. Wishing safe ride and enjoy!
Look on his face at the end of the video is best description of IOMTT
Awesome insight into the TT guys. Had me feeling nervous for you!
Well done on the progress so far Fagan. If you can go film the Suter and get an interview with the crew. Out of interest what did you have to go through to get your race license for the TT ?
I know you have to do like 6 road races (the 100, 200, etc) before you're even allowed near the TT.
M T a lot more than that involved. I'm currently working towards my mountain licence, first you need 10 signatures to upgrade to clubman then another 10 within 92.5% of the race winners time to upgrade to national. Then 6 with preferably a few roads thrown in ie North west 200 etc.
great job.hats off
You got a like just for the opening bit "wonderful legs". But the rest of it was also awesome.
Bravo mate - dreams coming true!
wow. those legs. the left one looks like the calf muscle is on the front! well done Al. great video.
as soon as the spark plugs burning up was mentioned I had a feeling the engine was gunna lock up on you... glad you kept it upright mate.
I assume you have another bike/engine by the sounds of things... May it be fast and you be safe :-) looking forward to more videos :-)
Great job Al! Youre taking part in something that most motogp riders wouldnt even touch
Lol "that most gp rides wouldn't even touch", no brainer here! gp racers make for a living... Boomboom ... damn near ripping me a new asshole.
I thought Milky Quayle took you guys out. No matter. You're there at the TT! You're doing it!! Keep up the great riding!
I'm feeling the rush just listening to you
good luck for the next round
ride safe
Well done... Even if you didn't break the 100mph barrier it still takes a lot of balls!
I would love to ride the course on closed roads.. My closest came when we were late finding a viewing point and the roads were just about to close so the hedges etc were all lined with spectators... I felt like McGuiness for about 4secs
One wonders how much weight all that wire locking adds! Probably not much but over those distances, surely it matters?
All 44 teeth full gritted!! Aaarrrgghhhh!!!!!
Well done mate! When younsaid about ginger hall up to Ramsay, i went the tt for thr first time, i went round and that was the most scary part of the circuit for me. The entry to my campsite was the 22 mile marker board. It is scary through there. What do you think of that section?

The unspoken yet overt acknowledgement that you're going out there, and you might die. That tap on the shoulder.
Sounds over the top when you type it out - but it's completely true. Congrats mate!
Great video good to see behind the scenes 👍
Great stuff! Can't wait for more.
This made me want to buy an SV650 and deck it out fully, like the one/s in the video
you are not alone, but i know this will coast a lot a lot of money...
It's a gorgeous little custom.
Wait until suzuki actually listens to its customers and makes one.
This made me want to buy a pasty
+Simon Liddiard Lol....😂
Great video.... Who is the start Marshall that taps each rider on the shoulder before they set off?
Why are all your tech support from Plymouth or down that way, love-em. I also love the gold stripe jacket!!! And, I tip my bonnet to you from what you said at the end interview!! Great job 44.
Sounded a bit jizzy in the garage looking over the bike lol. What caused the lock up? Those new plugs?
Will u film during your training session, or on the actual race? would be a blast to watch.
That is the frame from the new 2016 sv650, not the old Gladius!
Thanks for sharing. Awesome video.
Sweet, what's wrong with 98mph? Thanks for sharing and all the best...
Cheers for the video. Stay safe out there and best of luck.
respect for all TT riders!!!! gj
This is such a cool series!
Really cool to hear what it was like to take that first lap.
Been keeping an eye out for you Fagan on ITV4, was hoping they show the newcomers.
you doing the TT ? no fucking way .......
great to see some rider point of view
Superfantastic vid Ty.
I never know if James will smile or right hook you in your videos!
Holy freakin sheet. That's one thing you never got in closer to the edge how is a new guys perspective. And I still find it hard to believe how many road spec bits are on the bikes. Good luck and don't crash
Locking in 5th pinned, Jeeeez..I've locked at 30mph and that was scary enough...Stay safe dude

Outstanding video!
