2023 Isle of Man TT | Where to Watch!!

  • My recommendation for the best places to watch from at the TT. This video is a genuine overview of parts of the course I feel give the best experience as a spectator. I could have chosen 20 places!
I’ve been lucky enough to race the island since 2008 but regularly find myself passing through sections and adding to my mental list of places to one day go and spectate when on the other side of the fence.
I can’t comment too much on access and parking etc for these locations but perhaps ask in the comments and I’m sure someone from the TT community will be able to assist and advise. There are so many amazing places to watch and experience the TT but these were my top places.
Feel free to share your favourite spots and why?
Thanks to @duketraveliom for sponsoring this video, make sure you go and check out their website for the complete Isle of Man experience.

My first spectating spot was 3/4 down brayhill on the other side of the road and you were the first rider out. Most mental thing I've experienced seeing you wobble your way down bray hill and bottoming out at the bottom.

Excellent rider insight, as James says any biker who has not been it has to be on your list. Bottom of Bray has portaloo and burger van usually. First night of practise stand outside the sulby glen hotel with a Guinness, the sun setting the birds tweeting, leaning over barrier and a 200+bhp race exhaust howling past at full chat, it’s spectacular. Full respect to all who participate ✊🏍💨

the horses mouth - good to watch and listen to a Rider explaining stuff when you ride yourself - I was at the 2014 TT and was pleased to see bottom of Bray hill/quarter bridge in spectating spot to be as its the field of the Douglas Rugby club where i was sleeping in my Warewhare (they'll know) bag and tent combo. met some great people, loved every minute of it. Its motorcycling Mecca - with celtic warriors....

I went for the first time this year ( 2023 ) and watched nine days of racing from eight different spots. Definitely preferred the places where you can get close to the bikes as they pass at speed such as Crag-Ny-Baa, Barragarrow and Hillberry. But also enjoyed watching from places where the techincal side was a bit more evident than the speed or closeness to the bikes such as Bungalow, Grandstand (ideal for pitstops and end of race celebratrions) and Bray Hill.

He man thanks for the insight of a real IOMTT racer, You have a new fan and yes that "BOTTOM OF BARREGAROW" is a nasty part of the track. I always feel my heart raging when I see racers go trough that corner. In 2025 I will finally be part of the public! For now I got a TT+ ticket to see it online.

Some good spots James. If people are there for a few days I'd recommend watching from the Bungalow. Plenty of different places within walking distance and good facilities. I've gone up by bike and also by tram, Douglas>Laxey, Laxey>Bungalow. Pack for heatwave and freezing cold and everything in between as you never know what the weather's going to do up there😊😊There's loads of other good spots as well. Not going this year but I'll be cheering you on via TT +👍👍

This is a great video James mate, you highlighted some good spots to watch from like the bottom of Barregarrow and the Creg, I watched the TT in 2019 at bottom of Barregarrow and my god it is a shock to the system and I've been to the TT nearly every year since I was a very young lad. Sadly I can't afford to come to the TT this year but I look forward to watching live streams and tv coverage of the racing. I wish you and all the other riders racing this year the very best of luck and be safe out there!
*My suggestions for watching the TT* (in no particular order): *The Gooseneck* just up the road from *Ramsey hairpin* (amenities are available food, drinks and portaloos etc.), *Ramsey Parliament Square* just after *Ramsey bus stop* (plenty of amenities available). *Kirk Michael* (also has amenities available) - a very fast section of the course and you can see the riders absolutely pinning it through the town. *Sulby straight* - there's a banking you can sit on and watch the riders at top speed and slow down for the right-hander leading up to *Ginger Hall* on the right (amenities are usually available here). Last but not least, the *Snaefell mountain section* before you get to *Windy corner* (if weather permitting and warm) I'd recommend watching the bikes from here, this is probably my favourite area to watch from because you can see a lot more and there's normally some food stands and coffee available. I could recommend plenty more spots but these are usually the ones I'd share with anyone looking to go to the TT.
The TT is almost upon us and I literally cannot wait! This is by far my favourite part of the year I just hope the weather holds up and not turns in to the 2019 TT and if you are going this year I am a tad jealous 😄 but I hope you all stay safe and have a good time!

Bungalow, over the bridge and up hailwoods rise about 50m opposite the Marshall hut. Psst, you can climb over the fence, it’s allowed. Litre bikes fighting for grip, leaving big black lines as they spin up whilst heading straight towards you, it’s absolutely mint.

Great video, James! I’ve watched from several different places, but my favorite is Quarterbridge Corner,, next to the Marshall’s rest area on the outside of the corner at the end of the fence. The bikes come out of the shady section under the trees downhill into the bright sunlight with full tanks and on cold tires, struggling to get set up for the turn. There’s always a bit of gravel at the first apex, plus the dip next to the kerb where the angle of the road surface changes, that makes the turn-in tricky. The road surface on top of the bridge is also slick and cold, due to it’s being a bridge, with airflow above and below. Then there’s the second apex before the long straight to Bradden Bridge. So, you’ve got maximum braking, under far from optimum conditions, and maximum acceleration, on a squirrelly bike! And the bikes are going slow enough to get a good look at them! Now, I’ve always thought that the fastest way around that corner would be to hug the inside of the downhill left-handler on the approach, and take advantage of the sudden weight transfer and extra traction by laying the bike over on the way up the crown of the bridge, running just a bit wide, and just eliminating that second apex and adding a couple hundred feet of straightaway to the run to Bradden. Of course, you’ve got to watch your traction on the painted traffic circles, but that’s what traction control electronics are for, isn’t it? I noticed a few riders trying that line in ‘22, and it seems to work as well as I thought it would! One more reason why I like Quarterbridge Corner: nobody ever dies there. I’ve seen that in films and videos all my life, and I’ve seen it in real life on the roads and tracks at home; I don’t want to see it at the TT. I was somewhat physically ill watching those 4 ambulances coming slowly and silently ‘round the bend and over the bridge on that deadly Friday afternoon last year, knowing that I knew the names of the competitors in 2 of them. I walked slowly the 2 miles back to my hotel that day, thinking that I may not come back. During that long night, I realized that everybody in those ambulances were there by choice, doing what they loved, and were more alive in those few seconds before their deaths than almost everybody else in the whole world EVER was, or EVER would be! I paid my hotel deposit for “23 at breakfast the next morning! See you in June!!!

Awesome insights on these corners from an expert! Maybe if you have some time in the winter (or so) please consider doing a full turn by turn walkthrough of the circuit (onside or voice over to an onboard), this would be just mega 👏 All the best of luck on the island! 🏍💨

This is a great vid James! 👍😁, It's good to have some proper insight on where to spectate from a riders perspective. I'll be there for practice week, hoping to get a spot at Gorse Lea. Best of luck 🏍️💨🤘

It HAS to be Cronk y Voddy. Utterly mind-blowing. 180 mph, wheelies from the undulating road, and a fast downhill right-hander at the end. Bonus is, you get to see the bikes for about 6 seconds on this section. Trust me, I was there in 2017.

That must’ve been insane!! I haven’t been to the TT yet but that fast right hander after CronkyVoddy is definitely on my viewing list!! Along with the 11th and 13th milestone corners just after

@@colinstewart1432 I will see it one day, I’ve promised myself that!! Last year was the first TT I’d watched and I’m hooked, I work as a karting instructor part time and I’ve been watching F1 all my life, but there’s something about bike racing that does it for me, I think it’s watching the riders, they’re incredible!!

Which part of cronk? At the bottom when they slow down for the right hander or the right before where they drop down after being on the straight
