Not sure if any of this will still be relevant, but:
*Wave of Conviction is actually a very strong ignite skill...once you grab that one Ascendancy. The two main reasons its good is that it has a high Effectiveness of Added Damage (multiplier of flat added damage from other sources: basically to balance fast should that hit a bunch vs. big slow hitters) and it applies a debuff called Exposure, which lowers the enemy's resistance.
*I hope you went back and actually finished the Bust quest in the sewer.
*So the thing about Righteous Fire is that its base damage comes only comes from your maximum life and energy shield and it gives you a buff of more spell damage. You're traveling in the opposite direction of all the good life nodes and ES does not regenerate, it recharges. That requires not taking damage, which will never happen with RF on. And spell damage does not affect ignite damage. tl;dr - prepare for disappointment of you try to run RF, assuming you can even sustain it.
*Still picking up way too much crap. If it has a green or red background, leave it.

Luckily I held onto it! And yeah I did end up going back for that last bust, so annoying 🤣 Hmmm okay. I will have to maybe reassess where I am headed. I am still not sold on RF as yet, but keen to see if I can make it work! I really want the fire nodes to the left and right. I have gotten more points into ignite chance etc.
But I will have a closer look into boosting my life nodes and while I consider where I really want those points and how I feel like I want to build it. You guys will probably hate it, but you might find it interesting based on my thought process! Definitely thinking Wave could work for me! I am around level 40 now and waiting to start Act 4 :) I wanted to get this stream edited down before I played again. Still 3hrs worth of gameplay to edit down and get rid of the nonsense, lol. AND the D4 season to work on too 🤣

@@CassKGaming So Wave of Conviction Ignite...Witch (I'm guessing you've "levelled up" by now and I don't have to keep being coy about this, right?)...was actually my league starter this go-around. It is quite smooth through the campaign and going into the end game...but I ran into a brick wall pushing into the very end end game. It's a perfectly cromulent league starter (I know you're playing in Standard and not Necropolis, but "league starter" is short-hand for "good build for someone starting from zero that doesn't require super lucky unique drops". BTW, Yeena (A2) will sell you a leveled WoC gem.
Somewhat related, but if you're going all in on Ignite, you're probably going to want to drop Herald of Ash. It can provide a bit more damage depending on what skill you use, but its main benefit is the Overkill explosion function (properly setup builds can use it to clear entire screens of enemies), which doesn't work when enemies just burn to death, as it requires a hit to be what sends the monster to 0HP. What you /really/ want is Malevolence (buy it from Clarissa in A3), because damage over time.

@whypick1_ yeah, I went Ignite :) No need for me to be sneaky, lol, I feel like you guys probably picked that I would go that way from my first video 🤣 Hmmm, so that’s interesting to know that you hit a wall. It just means I need to properly put more thought into power progression before I go too far! Brilliant advice to consider there!
Okay, dropping Herald won’t stress me out. But I will go and grab the other gems/upgrades you suggested. It’s actually looking like a real build now! I am doing a fire self made build for D4 as well, so it’s interesting to be planning out both, prioritising things and seeing what lessons from each game I can use in theory that could cross over.

@@CassKGaming The difference between tankiness and damage that make finishing the campaign a cakewalk and being able to kill one of the actual über bosses is huge, and almost none of it comes edit: _solely_ from the tree, or between optimal and second/third choice supports. RF is a big exception, skill tree is very critical in making you able to even run RF, to say nothing of the difficulty of reaching viable DPS with RF without a specialised tree.
To give you a sense of the magnitudes, a league starter is a zero div(ine orb) build that you can build up to farming, and finishing the campaign is perfectly doable with effective max hit pool of 3k (note the word effective) and a realistic DPS of 30k. 30k isn't much, but it takes care of all the campaign bosses. 30k isn't even the lower bound of your effective max hit that's sufficient for end-game content.
For comfortable non-juiced mapping, you want your clearing setup to do something like 1-3 million DPS with ZERO clunkiness. If there's clunk, anything less than 5M is gimping yourself imo. And taking a build from 500k to 1M to 10M to 50M to 100M and beyond has almost nothing to do with the nodes you can pick in your passive tree. There is stuff you can shove into your passive tree, of which one kind of jewel you've seen already, but mostly your passive tree enables you to use all kinds of fun stuff that is different types of drops and crafting.
You can't just loot a piece of BIS kit and use it in any old build, usually if there's a (end-game! Nothing drops in the campaign!) boss drop that opens the floodgates for GIGADAMAGE, you need to build around it.

@@viljakainu1548 Pretty much agree with all of this.
Cass, you can certainly keep doing what you're doing, but if you /really/ want to push end-game stuff you're going to want to follow a build guide and/or trade for items. The latter is going to be...fun...for you, since you're on Standard, which has a smaller playerbase than the leagues and is the has the accumulation of ~10 years of items and currency, meaning its economy is "interesting", if you can even find people to trade with (do not take this as an endorsement to start playing Necropolis, it is arguably the worst league this game has seen; fortunately the base game is in a pretty damn good place to make up for it).
There is one build guide I'm thinking of that you could transition to that still involves setting stuff on fire, /but/ you get to have a bunch of friends with you to do it. It does have some non-obvious interactions, hence the need for a guide, plus it hinges around a Unique that you can't even equip until level 73 (you'll end the campaign around level 70), so Ignite WoC is the go-to way to level your character.

Missed a chance to take +str or +dex amu :( You get plenty of int from your travel nodes, but for good support gems for fire dots, you need both strength and dex. Fire is coupled with strength and cold and ailments are coupled with dex in PoE. You'll be seeing more and more burning, ignite, and ailment specific support gems as you go on, and they generally have str or dex requirement.

    • @CassKGaming
      @CassKGaming  2 місяці тому

Noted! I will look out for more str or dex items for the support gems!!! Again, super interesting cause pretty much every other game is like ‘you cast spells, you only get int!’ Or ‘you hit things hard, str makes things go squish!’

      @@CassKGaming PoE isn't like other games :P
Int-stacking isn't great for melee attacks, but str-stacking works just fine for casters.
You need a couple of fat sources of str and dex as an ignite character, whether you build for Burning Arrow with bows, dot-based Fire Trap, or spells.
Similarly, poison charcters will want int and probably at least some str. There ARE '0 int' builds but they aren't good.
