Even though I've spent 2,000 hours playing League to climb the ranked ladder. What Riot is doing is literally building an empire -world building that will rival the likes of Marvel, Star Wars, or DC. They've taken League of Legends as a competitive game and used that as a bouncepad to engineer an entire universe full of rich and complex characters, stories, adventures, politics and ideologies. Since then, they've expanded the world to include an Auto Battler game, a Digital Collectible Card game, a mobile MOBA, and are working on a Fighting game, and even an MMORPG. In the meantime, we get masterpieces like ARCANE, which draw from the lush backstories the character development writers have been cultivating for the past 12 years since the games inception. in the game, Jinx was originally considered crazy, akin to a league of legends "Joker". After watching this you have to wonder if Powder hasn't always struggled with depression/anxiety/mental illness, especially since everyone calls her a "jinx". In the episodes, whenever she has a sad moment, its always almost like she was fully breaking. When Vi told her to stay behind when they went to find Vander, the way she was crying was almost like a full on mental breakdown. And when Vi got up to leave at the end. Powder almost immediately disowned Vi as her sister. I like the way they are going about this story with Jinx, as a Jinx main in league, I loved the first 3 and cant wait to binge the new 3 episodes.
Given her past trauma from the death of her parents and the environment she was forced to grow up in, it's very likely that she always has struggled with mental illness. At the very least, a deep fear of abandonment and feelings of worthlessness. I wonder if there's some even bigger trauma we'll find out about that leads to Jinx's full break into madness or if the League team will pull back and ret-con Jinx into a more sympathetic and redeemable character.
@@Sueiza indeed we will have to see! I am here for it if they do, and god how i hope they do another season or another series around other characters and regions of runeterra as well. Just watched episode 4 and it was amazing!
What Jayce and Viktor created was called "Hextech" a magic harnessed through science/technology. It's a very common aspect of the League of Legends Game.
What surprised me about this show is with a lore this big, there’s barely any exposition in it(which is great), with just characters’ interaction and setting we get to be familiar with the world, bravo👏👏👏
Yes the conversations feels so much more natural as it should be. It allows us as the viewer to figure it out for ourselves by picking things up in the dialogue, especially coming from someone who has never played the games before. it’s always felt odd to me when characters go on tangents explaining information that’s already known to them And others since it’s their world And in situations that don’t really call for it. Which is why a lot of writers will have the main character be someone who is also un familiar with the world so that we can learn through them.
I know I’m super late, but I just watched this episode for the first time a few hours ago. I walked away with MY MIND BLOWN. It was super DEVASTATING and MINDBLOWING at the same time! I literally felt my heart break during that ending and I practically had my jaw dropped, I had never seen anything that sad and at the same time epic until this point. This show is a masterpiece, I’m already sold on that! And this comes from someone that knows so little of and has never played the game 10/10
Really appreciate you two spending so much time after the actual reaction to break down exactly how you feel about various different aspects of it. Feel exactly the same about how the hybrid release schedule gives bingers a nice mini-binge while creating somewhat of a closer at the end of the act, while those who prefer more spaced out release schedules aren't overwhelmed either. Also, you two definitely teared up at the end there LOL. Good job, you're like the first people I saw do that on here.
I’ve watched many reactions to this episode and this is by far my favorite when it comes to Powder’s breakdown. Just how visibly you guys were affected from 10:51 onward was fantastic. It’s masterful how fast I went from being furious at Powder to my heart sinking for her in an instant on my first watch.
But how good is Powder's voice actor! Really brought that character to life in all the episodes so far IMO. From making those little excited moments to this dreadful sad end of episode three come to life in the emotion and speech of her character. Her voice acting I feel is almost always fitting with the animation and it really makes her feel like a kid in all those moments.
If you did play the game, all you would learn is that at some point, Red team, or the Blue team, will take the Windmill. And several times a long the way, an ally has been slain.
@@Arezoo298195 Takes around 3 months of playing at least one or 2 matches a day to actually learn to play a MOBA. After 8 years of playing Dota 2 , I can tell you there is sooo much to learn .

Always love when siblings whether biological or sworn siblings turns on each other in shows. . . There is something so sad about it and especially when times come to battle it out! ! ! That trope is best when they still understand each other so well but cannot reconcile their ideals.
Yes, can we say something about Silco's voice actor here at the end? I love the way that he is mustache-twirling at "hello little girl" and then is totally disarmed by Powder and the sibling 'betrayal' connection. His reading of "It's okay...we'll show them...we'll show them all" is so honest and vulnerable, you actually feel his humanity for the first time AND you can imagine how he could form a real relationship with Powder.
I went into this show with zero expectation as I know next to nothing of LoL .... I was NOT READY and I was NOT expecting for this show to break me by only episode 3! That being said, all I can say is wow. Gorgeous animation, the facial expressions they pull off with these characters are so real, and the voice acting is absolutely friggin' top tier. I don't know who the young actress is for Powder, but my god she acted her heart out in that final sequence. To say I'm hooked, would be a massive understatement. What an out-of-nowhere gem this show is very quickly becoming.
11:00 honestly me too brother me too =[ so much chaos and all you want to do is grab the kiddos and hug them from vi acting out over everything to powder literally being a kid that just wanted to help, this episode was heavy man
The game already had a deep lore. Been playing it since season 1 but god damn I never thought they'd be able to make the series this great. For those who are not playing the game, this is just a small fraction of the league of legends universe. Can't wait to see the remaining episodes.
That one scene. Powders va absolutely incredible but can we applaud the animation there, that was like the exact look of someone realizing what they did
The 3 episodes a week strategy is probably Riot's decision, not Netflix's. Riot is also having a major event across all of their games, and releasing weekly patches with in-game loot and content to coincide with each act, which is probably why the episodes are being released like this.
Halfway through the show I was like, wow this is great acting. And than it hit me that is an animation. The voice acting is on point but the facial expressions and body languages are so amazing
Man the 5th and 6th episode are crazy. As a League of Legends player who played for 6 years. This show is really good and has so many easter eggs and references to the game.
All the ppl reviewing and reacting this show are gonna get massive views # when more and more ppl find out about how good this show really is. Just predicting future- This one will probably be over 600k easily by mid-late next year. It deserves that + more.
I come back to your reaction often. I think, in media, we've become so desensitized to losing strong male heroes in the service of stories (Vander). We hate it. But we almost expect it. Anticipate it. But the way Vi funnels her grief onto Powder, the projection of that, and then the way she slaps her sister. I wasn't ready. And it's interesting to see two other grown men react in such a similar way. We can go on and on about the writing now that we've all seen the show's entirety. It's remarkable. But this chapter's end is some of the most emotionally crushing -everything- I've ever seen on screen. The impact of that slap took me back in my seat. And the look, and sounds, of Powder slowly shattering under her dawning realization of culpability - combined with Vi's aggressive assertion and blame and grief are just absolutely heart wrenching. There was honesty in the way the writing chose to portray the fallout of this. There was honesty in your reaction, too.
Little powders voice actress created that emotional state by imagining herself becoming irrevocably estranged from her brother in real life. That’s why that emotion sounded real…. Because it was real.
One of my favorite moments from this episode was when Powder has her meltdown on the bed. The way they portrayed her was so masterful: you could tell the reaction was a crazy person's, she was almost rabid. In that moment even before the bomb I thought ohh nooo this girl's got MAJOR psych issues. And I knew we were seeing a villain's origin story. Anyone else feel that too during that scene??
Same! I personally play lol so I knew how she was gonna end up eventually but I thought it was all gonna come down to her getting the serum (since in the game she has pink eyes) but when I saw that scene I understood better how exactly Jinx came to be
If you go back to scene one episode one, you can see the same crazy, jagged faces over the Enforcers and dead people. I think Jinx had psychological problems from the beginning, which helped to create the unbearable tragedies of her life, which pushed her fully over the edge into insanity.
I think the show does a amazing job in portraying how Powders mind work. In episode 1 during the brawl in the alley and when the bomb goes off in episode 3 everything slows down. The music becomes serene and she almost seems calm. Almost like the chaotic and disruptive helps her cope. It is by no means a healthy response, but I think it explains a lot about her.
What can I say? Amazing video, guys! I really enjoyed your reaction. I absolutely love how excited you guys get into things and how... well.. reactive you are. Sometimes when other people get 'overly-emotive' it's annoying, but for you guys it's a huge plus, cause it's genuine. You're obviously really invested and it's just so interesting to watch how much the scenes affect you. And yeah, you definitely don't need to play the game to watch the show. I actually wish that I didn't know the lore, cause it sort of spoils where the characters will end up, who they will become (though the show is still surprising everyone). Also, since u seemed interested, so far the characters from the game are: Powder (yeah, she's Jinx) Vi Ekko (the little boy) Heimerdinger Jayce Viktor Caitlyn (The girl who was with Jayce) Singed (the other scientist that's with Silco) there are some hints towards other champs too, but not gonna spoil.
I seriously doubted this show at first. The people I expected to see live, FUCKING DIED😭 I teared up and was just in shock and now the intro makes more sense now😭
That was my non gaming family members complaint. They did not enjoy the science piltover stuff but loved the powder/vi stuff. Of course they just love lots of tense action
I think the reason the final scenes hit so hard every time no matter what, is because on a primal psychological level humans will always have a reaction to this. Similar to if you play a whimpering puppy around ur dog it’s gonna start stressing. The fact the voice actor for powder was like actually 12 around the age of her character, and the performance she put was so real, I cannot physically stop from tears coming up. What an amazing piece of television to make a visceral experience for any viewer. Like if u know no English and watched this you’d still be hurt when Vi punches a crying Powder.
Regarding what Jayce and Viktor were working on, they were just trying to prove the theory that science can create a device that can harness and control magical energy. They weren't trying to create any specific kind of effect with the device, only prove that it could keep the magical energy from running rampant and exploding, channeling it in a controlled way. Theory proven, so now the next step is developing devices that can create specific effects using the technique.
I was hooked on the show from episode 1 just off characters and the little bit of world building, but episode 3 literally affected my mood and had me craving more episodes, I watched it in the morning before work and it was literally on my mind all day

Arcane episode three is a freaking Masterpiece and 10/10 one of the greatest episodes of television ever; and I've never heard of LoL
in the game, Jinx was originally considered crazy, akin to a league of legends "Joker".
Jinx is more Harley Quinn, Shaco is the joker
Didn’t only Mylo call her a jinx?
@@MoreMicavity yeah, I'd like them to cover Twisted Fate, Graves, Gangplank and Miss Fortune next, into the Bilgewater boys!!!
What Jayce and Viktor created was called "Hextech" a magic harnessed through science/technology. It's a very common aspect of the League of Legends Game.
That Stone is so fvcking Cursed
They Commercialized, Weaponized, etc.
Should better not have that.
This is the closest I've seen to these guys balling
The actress that plays Powder/Jinx is only 15!
So talented!
Can't wait to hear her next!
This episode was Incredible and emotional...No, wait, this show is Incredible and emotional
the “kiss.” when viktor and jayce were talking is SO REAL
11:12 The moment Greg *physically* felt his heart shatter and needed help.
The 4th, 5th, and 6th episode are great too. Can't wait for your reactions on it!
😂 After watching the show I went and tried playing the game. I quit after the tutorial! It is really not my kind of game. Fantastic show though.😂
@@Arezoo298195 Takes around 3 months of playing at least one or 2 matches a day to actually learn to play a MOBA. After 8 years of playing Dota 2 , I can tell you there is sooo much to learn .
@@ukiyoideas2215 Okay. I'll take your word for it. (btw, whats a MOBA?) All I know is I kept having to look down at my keyboard to figure out which letter to press so I quickly gave up. I don't normally play fast paced games. I prefer slow strategy games. Civ 6 and XCOM2 are my current favorite games. That should explain me and my type of game.
@@Arezoo298195 you get hooked on it once you get that adrenaline feel of becoming OP and getting kills, I thought the same till it clicked with me
@@Arezoo298195 a MOBA is a Multiplayer Online Battle Arena, it's a genre in of itself, League isn't the only game like this. DOTA like he mentioned, among others.
The voice actress for Powder was //14// when she recorded this. She is THAT good.
LITERAL prodigy
When powder started to cry i got so damn frustrated for not being able to hug her and tell her its okay..everything will be okay...don't know how to describe it but the feeling i had for a fictional character i never thought i would have😂...but man i wouldve adopt her without a second thought and go all out just to give her the best life she could have
Always love when siblings whether biological or sworn siblings turns on each other in shows. . . There is something so sad about it and especially when times come to battle it out! ! ! That trope is best when they still understand each other so well but cannot reconcile their ideals.
zuko vs azula last agnai kai is the best so far
True, but close buddies is Something that is even more heartbreaking imo
anakin vs obiwan
Reel Rejects when Powder gets abandoned: 😭
Me watching their reaction: 😈
The way Viktor carries himself and what he is going through in the coming 3 episodes makes me equally as sad as Jinx’s meltdowns in episode 3.
Already the best show in 2021. Yes better than squid game.
true... squid game zzzz
@@rinshaolin94 dont be a dick

@@hellstarremina1 both fantastic
Vi's fight was incredible, if you can view it anyway in it's entirety do it.
I like how silco says "we'll show them all"
Yes, can we say something about Silco's voice actor here at the end?
This is the best thing on TV atm didn’t know if they could keep up the quality but just finished act 2 and omg it gets even better
3:26 LMAOOOOOO i nearly spat out my drink at how even you guys noticed how gay viktor and jayce are
Orrrr
FR I SCREAMED HSJDHSHA
11:00 honestly me too brother
me too =[
so much chaos and all you want to do is grab the kiddos and hug them
from vi acting out over everything to powder literally being a kid that just wanted to help, this episode was heavy man
“All it takes is one bad day to reduce the sanest man alive to insanity” in Powders case on that night Powder dies and Jinx is born.
The ending of this episode RIPS MY HEART OUT every time I watch it, and I don't think it ever won't. 😨
The game already had a deep lore. Been playing it since season 1 but god damn I never thought they'd be able to make the series this great. For those who are not playing the game, this is just a small fraction of the league of legends universe. Can't wait to see the remaining episodes.
That one scene. Powders va absolutely incredible but can we applaud the animation there, that was like the exact look of someone realizing what they did
Great reaction!!! Love the authenticity! Real men can show emotion!
I don't cry a lot, but THIS FREAKING EPISODE GOT ME SO BAD.
The 3 episodes a week strategy is probably Riot's decision, not Netflix's. Riot is also having a major event across all of their games, and releasing weekly patches with in-game loot and content to coincide with each act, which is probably why the episodes are being released like this.
With that brilliant voice acting this episode felt really emotional. 💙
Finallyyy, ive been looking forward to your reaction to this episode, the voice acting in this episode it top notch
as a league of legends player im sure my excitement is higher the non-player since i pick up so many things and keep giggling at them
Just finished watching Act 2 today and omg you guys are gonna be even more pumped. Helluva show. I'm so glad I'm a League Stan haha.
I just can't believe how good this show is... the writing, the animation- definitely caught me by surprise
Little powders voice actress created that emotional state by imagining herself becoming irrevocably estranged from her brother in real life. That’s why that emotion sounded real…. Because it was real.
I WAS WAITING FOR THIS
the fact that next eps was in the air is so crazy :D
3:29 KISS!!!!
Also, since u seemed interested, so far the characters from the game are:
Powder (yeah, she's Jinx)
Vi
Ekko (the little boy)
Heimerdinger
Jayce
Viktor
Caitlyn (The girl who was with Jayce)
Singed (the other scientist that's with Silco)
there are some hints towards other champs too, but not gonna spoil.
Shit got real, REAL quick this episode
1:20 "it's gonna begin underground in the earth and the next one is in the air" ...he was right lol
Watched the show twice, and watched many reactions to t yet I still cry like a baby at this episode :(
I've re watched this so many times, I miss the pain and surprise I got from my first reaction.
Whoever voice acting for Jinx is actually god tier
Young jinx voice acting was incredible.
Voice acting for Powder did a incredible job!
powder’s breakdown when vi left her at home made me just sob
Such a great episode. What a great show!
finally been waiting for this react
*5:31** was my reaction to Powder/Jinx’s whole role in the episode.*
everyone always says friends when including Claggor and Mylo when they were also like siblings too. they all looked at Vander as their dad.
5:31 When your best friend accidentally breaks the tip of your little green army mans rifle...

I seriously doubted this show at first. The people I expected to see live, FUCKING DIED😭 I teared up and was just in shock and now the intro makes more sense now😭

@@69yearsago86 you forgot Singed, the guy who takes Vanders corpse in the end... and presumably ends up turning him into Warwick...
Marcus voice actor did such a good job with saying”what the hell have you done this wasn’t the deal”
That was my non gaming family members complaint. They did not enjoy the science piltover stuff but loved the powder/vi stuff. Of course they just love lots of tense action
I did join patreon for Arcane, lol. I feel loved. I also joined to recommend Wheel of Time when it comes out though lol
the voice acting of powder is fucking phenomenal.
There is such solidarity in how hard this episode hit just about everyone who watched. I was so unprepared.
7:14 anyone who plays League already KNOWS
You can tell that it was teleportation with how the gear went into center and came out the side.
I’m not crying with you guys 😭, its just the rain
I think the reason the final scenes hit so hard every time no matter what, is because on a primal psychological level humans will always have a reaction to this. Similar to if you play a whimpering puppy around ur dog it’s gonna start stressing. The fact the voice actor for powder was like actually 12 around the age of her character, and the performance she put was so real, I cannot physically stop from tears coming up. What an amazing piece of television to make a visceral experience for any viewer. Like if u know no English and watched this you’d still be hurt when Vi punches a crying Powder.
I just started watching this and the animation and voice acting is INSANE 😳
1:19 how is he predicting this already? Lol 😂
I was hooked on the show from episode 1 just off characters and the little bit of world building, but episode 3 literally affected my mood and had me craving more episodes, I watched it in the morning before work and it was literally on my mind all day
Brooo I got teary eyed too at that scene hahaha
I didn’t know shit about lol but this show is so freaking amazing. Def best surprise of the year.
