- Today I show you the set up process of setting up my Intex Mariner 4 inflatable boat.
I added a wooden floor made from 3/4 inch treated plywood, painted with marine primer and paint for added protection against weathering.
I made the floor into 2 different sections so it would be easier to transport and fit inside my car.
I also added two latches to secure the 2 floor boards in place while out on the water.
I placed pool noodles around the edges of the boards so the boards would not rub against the pvc material of the inflatable boat.
I made a dolly out of pvc and 12 inch diameter tires from Home Depot and Harbor Freight. I got the idea for the dolly from another youtuber BoilerDan1 a link to the video can be found below.
• Boat Dolly out of PVC ...
I take my mariner 4 out in the tributaries of the Chesapeake Bay and it has held up very nicely.

Awesome idea with door bolts. Will copy that on my Mariner 3 build. Thanks.
Great job but you risk kitting and stealing on those sliding locks I used piano hinges on the underside which allows me to fold my floor in half covered by gray outside carpet in my 10 ft. Camping survival Inflatable boat!!Nice job!!
😅that's cool now you need a awning shade for your raft 👍
Very good show ! I can tell the wind speed does not effect your cruising around. Beautiful sun set and and yeur flying the same flag as I fly on me own sailing vessels !
Love your freedom flag.good job on the boat !
What about the inflatable keel?. It's there to help you keep a straight line
Think he forgot to cut a hole in the wooden floor for the keel valve 😅
I like you blue protectors! However you can buy and mount better connectors on boat for your motor or even a small gas motor. Should be inexpensive.
incredible boat. how stable is this boat on the sea when the waves are hitting it?
Omg such a mad setup. Best highlight is the flag. Thats kills me happily. Love it. Can you let me know your solar setup, as in what watt panel, duration charge etc. Thanks
Sometimes no verbal is best. Thank you
The star of your video is that solar battery set up. What battery are using and how did you set it up with solar. What kind of range do you get with medium power? Thanks for sharing
1000 amp marine battery from lowes…
With the solar panel it last pretty much 4 hours on medium constantly running.
But if you sit in the sun for about 30 min it basically recharges the battery back up to atleast over %50.
Ive been over 10 miles one day but it got dark so I came home.
Never tested it from sun up to sun down because it takes some take to set up… i always went out in the afternoon and always had more than enough to get home.
Nice 👌
Hey brother, did you inflate the keel here?
Friend i realy like your set up but the hinnjes seem a little deficult to close why not put hinjes that fold both pieces together like a door hinje?😊
wow, how did you make the solar power battery charger ?
How tight does the ply need to be under tbe tubes? Should it touch the seems or leave a gap and let the foam take up the slack?
great video! im copying your wheels, simple & sweet
Any leaks? Thinking about buying one and I heard good things and bad things about those rafts
Do you have the plywood on top of the plastic floor coming with the boat, or directly on bottom plastic? This looks like significant weight saving and more sturdiness.
It wouldnt fit with the floor underneath.
My wood floor is 3/4 inch thick… its way more sturdy
@@TrevorsCrabs do you inflate the bottom of the boat?
Pode falar o site pra comprar por favor?
Sabe se entrega pro Brasil?
Obrigado.
Did you mount brackets on your floor to secure a boat chair? You think ther is enough room for 2 chair mounts in that model boat?
My wife fished oceans being from islands. I know she will enjoy bass/catfish/bream/crappie fishing!
I did not mount any brackets to secure the chair in place.
I like to be able to fold it up and move it around if I have too.
You only need to mount it if you are going in heavy chop or expect to have large wakes from boats alot.
If its calm and glassy out you wont need mounts.
There is enough room for 2 chairs but you will have less space to move around.
You don't use the floor that came with the raft as well? You only use your plywood floor?
Yes,
The plywood I used was 3/4 inches thick and the orginal floor will not fit with the 3/4 inch think plywood.
You might be able to use 1/4 or 1/2 inch plywood ontop but when I tried to use the 3/4 inch plywood floor with the floor it came with it was too thick and the tube didnt inflate all the way.
You think you can put the into the bed of a full size pick up and tie it down and go 5 miles away fully inflated?
With an 8ft box and the tailgate down, sure.
Cuántas horas aguanta el motor en número 5
Awesome setup man! Couple questions:
1- what pumps are you using to inflate it? Both automatic and manual?
2- why the pool noodles around the arms of the motor mount?
3- what carry cart are you using there for the boat to get it to and down the ramp?
4- What’s a good battery to use with that trolling motor? What motor did you get?
Thanks!
1. I use an automatic pump to inflate the boat pretty much all the way, it was a $30 pump on amazon that recharges with a usb. I then use a hand pump about 10 to 20 pumps to ensure the tubes are fully inflated.
2. The pool noodles help protect the wood floor from rubbing against the side of the boat.
3. I made that carry cart out of pvc, I saw from a youtuber called “boilerdan”
4. I have a 1000amp marine deep cycle battery with a 40lb endure max trolling motor from minn kota
@@TrevorsCrabs Where are you getting the carry bag for the boat? Mine didnt come with one
@@TrevorsCrabs Hi Trevor, what kind of battery are you using? AGM or Lifepo4? does 100Ah AGM battery too heavy for Intex Mariner 3? Thanks.
@@zylmx I am using 1000amp deep cycle battery that weighs about 45lbs.
@@Jon-Hamersky-Shooting Buy a big hockey equipment bag. The boat comes with a bag from factory but it's a crappy one.
Nice video I’m a noobie just bought 10.8 killer whale from inflatable sports boats along with a seamax 12v 65 lbsTrolling motor. Your solar setup is pretty awesome how long did that take you to build and where’d you get the panel ? Also how many hours of trolling have you gotten out of it ?
did you not like the slat flooring it came with? I was originally going to buy an excursion and build a plywood floor. But seeing how much more durable the mariner 4 is (and it came with a hard floor) I was leaning towards the mariner. The only downside to me is the inner size difference. Is the slat floor the mariner comes with no good?
I have one of these... the floor is really heavy, and it has open slots. Solid wood is eaiser to stand on and much lighter. Also, in my case I am mounting a seat to mine.
@@computergardener I hear ya. Do you replace the floor it came with, with the wood floor you made? Or do you put the wood floor on top of the one it came with?
Does that anchor actually anchor the boat? It looked like it wouldn’t be able to hold much but I’m a noob. Love the setup. Was probably going to do something similar when I’m ready.
The anchor works great unless it is super windy then it sort of drags alittle but on normal days and when its a little windy it works great
do you inflate the keel? does it matter? I see the floor covers the valve, (is there a valve in the floor?)
yes, the keel should be inflated and there is a value in the floor.
Maaaan those tubes seem to be exploding, be careful to not overinflate them.
I too worry about over inflating my boat. I got mine used, do you know if that 10cm is a true 10 cm? I printed a paper ruler and I barely blew them up and it show 12 cm.
I called Intex to buy a new ruler and they were not helpful. didn't know what I was talking about...
Hi nice video thx. Can you tell me the messurements of the wooden floor in cm?
If you have the old floor that the boat came with, just lay that down on the plywood and trace it
@@TrevorsCrabs That's the point...i still havel to buy the boat and want to give de floor a double ffunction in my camper. That's why i want to know it....
@@TrevorsCrabs 35 cm = 13,77 inch / 35 inch is 88,9 cm that could be.....;-) Thx
Im sorry!!
The total measurement of the entire floor is 35 inches wide and 8 feet long.
So each half is 35 inches wide and 4 feet long!
@@TrevorsCrabs Thanks Trevor.
La hoja de triplay de que medida es
That floor is not even the wright size for that boat. And you are overinvlating the boat. And when you are invlating the boat start at nr 1 and then nr 2 and then nr 3 and then nr 4.
Dude I got to tell you you're overinflating that thing it won't last
