I think all of the minis in your top 5 are pretty spot on, but I have to say: From a painting perspective, the Avatar of Khaine both looks great and is massively fun to paint. Also the Keeper of Secrets is just awesome, just waiting for the Emperor’s Children release 😅

Top 5 would be: chaos space msrines from black stone fortress, Chaos space marines from the 2018 starter set, the actual box of chaos space marines legionnaires, kill team legionnaires and finally kill team nemesis claw. All different models you see

Low key top 5 for me is the World Eaters Berzerker kit.
They're a solid one for sure!
I was going to put this aswell, they are so aesthetically pleasing
I painted the demon prince without wings recently and had a great time. The projections from the power pack and gun gauntlet seemed to be tongues, which is chaos af.

The new Dark Angels minis deserved at least a shout out. Azrael, the Inner Circle Companions and Asmodai are just beautiful miniatures.

My absolute personal favourite is Constantin Valdor's mini. Dont be scared by the fact it's resin it's still a pure joy to paint !
Valdor is absolutely on both of our lists. A Top 5 Heresy minis list would be incredibly fun to do!
Another great necron character is Illuminor Szeras, love the way he is siphoning the guy screaming in pain, really paints a picture of the character

The sisters trifecta of triumph, vahl and celestine sold me on the faction alongside the tanks, love the range

Not liking all the Bladeguard hate. Beautiful model that one. Farsight is my fave after Aggressors! Another great episode my guys.

1. Norn Emissary. without a doubt my favorite model GW has ever made.
2. Commander Farsight. I love the mechsuits in the T’au range and he is such an amazing epic hero model.
3. Deathleaper. Tyranids are my favorite army in the game and this model is so beautiful.
4. The Lion. It’s kinda obvious why he is here.
5. Cerastus Knight Lancer. Easily my favorite of all the knights and one of my favorite from GW.
Honorable mentions:
1. Stormsurge. The ultimate T’au mechsuit.
2. Magnus The Red. I don’t understand why so many people dislike his model I think it’s amazing.
3. The other two daemon primarchs. They are both fantastic.
4. Blade guard veterans.some of my favorite space marine models.
5. Emperors champion. I don’t know why but I love this model so much

Illuminor Szeras is in my too list, it was the first model that my jaw dropped when it was previewed. From an iconic perspective the Monolith is great. Silent King and Void Dragon are up there but I still haven’t pick up those two models
Would recommend the void dragon just for the building process!
@@the_kieran_show I haven’t built the Void Dragon yet, but I hear it’s a lot easier than Illuminor which is a challenge to build.
Tbh perfectly honest minis like Vashtorr or the arch lord discordant just get me because of all the chaos tech stuff, also the deathshroud bodyguard is just neat
Imagine if we ever get a dark mech range!
@@the_kieran_show oh I HAVE been imagining. My utopia would be a demon Primarch Perturabo, a bunch of Iron Warriors and some Dark Mech to go along with them. It’d be perfect if you could include Vashtorr in that Army, I’d probably go broke
Absolutely nothing wrong with Bladeguard being in there!
Surprisingly difficult to pick a top 5 for 40k, even though I tend to paint them for fun...
1: Brutalis Dreadnought. New, larger dreadnoughts got me to actually fall in love with them. I like how this one makes it personal, and very up close with the combat.
2: Angoron. He's got a big axe, need I say more?
3: Lord Invocatus. Mechanical demon dog and a nice big axe.
4: Knight Rampager. Looks nice, has a few options for gear. Looks way better than anything the Imperial Knights have! :P
5: XV88 Broadside Battlesuit. I've always had a soft spot for these guys, even though I sold off my entire Tau army. There's also the whole "yes, I'm hip firing a rail gun, got a problem with that?" kind of look to it too.
Honourable mentions: Primaris Eradicators (MELLLLTAAAS!), Canoptek Doomstalker (or even their whole Combat Patrol!), and the Winged Hive Tyrant.
...Nah, I don't like my melee units at all, doubly so if they're wielding axes... Nope nope nope :P :P :P

@@the_kieran_show It's mean, it's going to be HOT PINK (and purple), and yeah. I just love the look of it.
I'm also more for the Tyranids, and found a surprising love for going "why not roll with it" with the Space Marines I had no idea what I wanted to do with that were in the box.
But yeah, there's something about a murderous dreadnought with claws (and meltas) rampaging towards something!

Even as a necron players being happy that 2 necron models made both top 5s
I don't think the silent king is number 1
Here's my top 5 (but for necrons since that's the only army i have played)
1. Void dragon (not a surprise)
2. Illuminor Szeras (nightmare to build, feels like the necron equivalent of a primarch)
3. Hexmark destroyer (just think it looks cool and also mine is now called Antonio because why not and the destroyers are some of my favourite necron units)
4. Deathmarks (literally the first model i ever built, just look really cool, mainly built them over Immortals cause they were more useful to me at the time and they just look so much better, i do have some Immortals now because they work well with Szeras)
5. Canoptek Spyder (this is one of the first models i saw after my initial purchase and waited 2 years to buy it, and then struggle to fit it in my army)
Honourable mentions.
Trazyn (model Honestly isn't great, but it's Trazyn)
Skorpekh destroyers and Lokhust heavy destroyers (as i said i just love the destroyer part of necrons)
To be honest there is a lot of Necron units we can rave about. It’s certainly one of the best ranges on sale today
yeah, just a shame that the other c'tans get neglected and are stuck as their 3rd edition finecast or expensive kit where you need to build a pretty useless unit and the tesseract vault is just way cooler
@@Iris_Astraea id agree with illuminator. His kit was an absolute joy to paint. I’ve never enjoyed a necron as much as his. Typically painting 100 warriors and scarabs is mindless busy work, but he was neat. Mine looks pretty good I got a blood effect paint that makes his bio-draining effect look extra grim 😎 also fielding him, he feels so strong, he’s basically a baby Ctan I actually field him and a custom printed/kitbashed transentent ctan, and they basically wipe the floor
Bladeguard are amazing i agree. Doesn't always have to be super flashy or huge, sometimes small kits can be much more enjoyable to build and paint.

Listen, don't disrespect the blade guard. I'm painting up some Raven Guard schemed ones right now and it's by far the most fun marine I've painted. Consequently, also my best work.

Just finished st. Kathy myself, I paint about a hour a night, took me 8 weeks to build paint and assemble. Looks fantastic.
8 weeks! Wow good effort!
@@the_kieran_show I typically paint about a hour maybe 2 a night, keeps me from getting burnt out. I also have a wife and 4 kids so my modeling time is limited. I can safely say after 25years of this hobby, st. Kathy was the most complex thing I’ve worked on, worth it yes, but boy it’s not a model you’d wanna start on first.
Always enjoy these top 5s and bottom 5s! Excited for the AoS one!
Farsight/Dante was my honorable mention for sure, but I do love both Blade and Sternguard
5. Maugan Ra, he's absolutely beautiful, the new sculpt gripped me immediately.
4. Vashtorr the Arkifane, adore that model, he just looks so cool, just wish he was a little bigger!
3. Void Dragon, what a beautiful model. One day I will be brave enough to tackle it.
2. Morty, oh Morty, the only thing stopping me from getting you is waiting for the codex to see if Death Guard get a good starter battleforce, I want to build/paint you so bad.
1. Cerastus Knight Lancer (Its cheating I know but I don't care) Its huge, its got such a cool silhouette, it made me start collecting Imperial Knights.
And Kieran's getting into Blood Angels? Heck yeah!
Some cracking miniatures on that list!!
My vote would either be Cawl or Lord Felthius

Here's my top 5(with honorable mentions)
1. Maugen Ra: I like Eldar, I LOVE Aspect Warriors, and this is their best looking Phoenix Lord right now. Is that a biased take? Yes. Do I care? No.
2. Szarekh, The Silent King: You put him at number 1 for a damn good reason.
3. All the Chaos Primarchs: If I had to pick one I'd say Magnus, but I'm biased towards Thousand Sons, so to acknowledge their quality, I'm putting everyone here
4. C'Tan Shard of the Void Dragon: I mean. . . Just look at it. Do I need to say more?
5. Vashtorr the Arkifane: Best thing to happen to generic CSM in 40K since the 13th Black Crusade, don't @ me.
Honorable Mentions: Morvenn Vahl, Striking Scorpions, Scarab Occult Terminators, Aggressors, Bladeguard, and *ALL* the Speeed Freeeks models.

Cant argue with any of the top 5. Ghaz and Mortarion were amazing to paint. I did like Magnus though his kit is a bitch for mould lines. Would love to pickup the Silent King or Void Dragon but so much unpainted stuff at the mo. Need to paint or sell 😂
My honourable mention would be the Gellerpox Infected. 😂 So many great sculpts in one box.
Yeah Magnus is not a fun build in any shape of form 😂
1. hormagaunts - no other minis in 40k possess such movement or dynamism. When I got them in my battle box thing and put them together I was shocked - they are stunning and I can't think of anything better in the range. Definitely not the blade guard...

Honestly the 30k stuff atm is also pretty awesome. Especially some of the characters even if they are a bit expensive

The Norn Emissary shows that the 40k team can really make some incredible contenders to the AoS centerpieces moving forward. They've reached a point where they need to go for centerpiece appeal, like AoS. AoS does a fantastic job and it draws people in, myself included with models like Alarielle. The Void Dragon is probably the pennicle of what to expect for a Sci-Fi tabletop game. Someone new to 40k would potentially think the Void Dragon is the big bad of the settting purely on aesthetic. The primarchs are obviously the showstoppers for a lot of peoples list. Id say the traitor primarchs more than the loyalist ones even with the gloriest Lion making his return. I just really want to see more exaggerated models and poses for the loyalist primarchs. Between Blue Boy and the Lion theyre both just heroic, stoic poses. However, I do think now we have reached the more aesthetically creative loyalist primarchs like Russ, Vulkan, and Corvus who all have a little extra theming to them. The Lion obviously gave us the knight theme but that can only be exaggerated so much within a sci-fi setting. Also I respect the Silent King as yalls best model, as a Necron player. I still think the Void Dragon is the best in the range but the Silent King is a close second for sure
Yeah it certainly feels like there is a shift in the design of 40k’s big models to draw from what AoS does so well. I mean the design teams work in the same location there must be SOME crosstalk 😂
I gotta nominate the Avatar of Khaine and the exorcist tank. There's loads of oop models I'd choose too.
Both very credible shouts. Most of the Sisters range is beautiful.
Bladeguard pick is objectively correct. Very cool models, wish more space marines had the “knightly” look.

Gotta agree with small Kieran: Bladeguard are one of the best looking units in the game. They simply get eclipsed by a dozen impressive character models.

YES!!! 10K by years end. I keep telling you it can happen. Anyway, Dunno what my top 5 would be; I generally dislike named characters, with but a few exceptions... Castellan Crowe and Jain Zarr maybe? I'm a huge Death Guard player, but neither have, nor want Mortarion. I just don't think any of the primarchs should have been brought back.
Castellan Crowe is fire. Imagine that grey knights refresh if it happens

Honestly the AOS Reclusians are so cool. But to me they don't compare to the Bladguard, the true knights. In my opinion 40k still does knights better 😂

Magnus and Morty are the best miniatures in 40k, by far.
Hopefully we get to see some more demon primarchs in the future!
Void Dragons are mean one of my BA successor chapters best achievements was killing that in a game using no named characters just half my army (Agressors, Terminators with Liberian, Jump pack intercessors with a Captain, Impulsor with intercessors as well doing tank shock on the charge, there was a blade guards squad (Kieran is right they are the best SM kit going especially the Ancient) but that got deleted by the ranged attack before they could charge). We lost the game but claimed the moral victory of slaying so mighty a foe.
The moral victory is the reason we play the game. If you can hold up (sorta) against a Void Dragon that's the real win.

i think every army needs to eventually get a centerpiece model like the silent king or the triumph or a primarch. the ones that dont have that just feel thin on the board to me. i would love to see a genestealer "avatar of the 4 armed emperor" or a tau "farsight but a stormsurge and not just a coldstar with a pretty knife" where they take the feel of the army and just turn it to 11. they just realeased the new avatar for the horned rat for skaven and hot dog how to turn a swarmy army with a few medium models into a proper battleforce HOT DOG im ready to be a rat.
Some armies really need one for sure, and they must know that they would just SELL. Like that new skaven big rat is going to sell well!
