Shady really out here trying to take us all down

I did, and was wasted at the 41 minute mark... great video thank you for posting this video, it is very helpful.
I took a sip of tea instead - a good way to stay hydrated... 😌 And more important: to watch a really good video! Thank you so much for sharing your experiences! 😊❤
Thet, "Do not let twitch control your life" part is so so important. I saw myself for a small-time be completely consumed by twitch and the streaming community to the point where it impacted every action I took during the day and that part really really needs to be talked about more!
that has definitely been a huge problem for me as well, I get so addicted so easily, and it very rapidly turns into "the literal second I wake up until the second I fall asleep" all consuming...and then what are you really living for?
I was struggling with a fixation over numbers. Next time I’m gonna turn of the viewer count. It gives me too much anxiety. Thank your such an in-depth video!
i'm a very small streamer (just started last week) and today, i got really in my head about streaming and i realized my thoughts about it turned very negative (even though this is something i am VERY passionate about). this video has honestly made me feel a lot better and all of your points are spot on. exactly what i needed to hear. thank you so much
This was so great! Your videos are always so easy to watch; I never find myself getting bored or trying to skip forward.
glad you liked it, Liza 😭🥺💕 thank u so much for watching!
Just watched the first 14 minutes of this. I will watch the rest throughout the week. Great stuff. Much of that advice so far I feel can be taken into life in general too. Needed to hear that about streaming what you want and just focusing on what makes you passionate. Really resonated with me. I look forward to seeing the rest of this!
thank u so much for taking the time to watch!
This is literally a guide to success as a content creator! Thank you!
When you watch a UA-cam video and see your own face popping up at 1:41 I am proud! I love how you talk about listening to a lot of different streamers! We all went our own ways and yours is going to be different. Twitch streaming does not have a success formula, but you can learn to get better 💜
your video on niches was amazing & super thorough!! thank u so much for checking my video out ;0;
Nice, thanks for help ! Love the work You actually did put all those timestamps. My god a mental orgasm. Usually nobody does that. Thank You !
You're welcome! I love having time stamps on long videos, so definitely wanted to supply them in one of mine 😂😂
Found this randomly through a retweet, but god DAMN is it a solid retrospective. Thanks for putting this together!
thank you so much, goguma!!
and you're super welcome :D
@@HeyShadyLady np np, would love to see some of those other video ideas you mentioned in this one also come to fruition!
I can tell how hard you worked on this, great video Ty!
thank you so much quinn!!! 🥺🥺🥺🥺🙏
I've allowed fears and insecurities to stop me from beginning streaming for far too long a time now.
YOU CAN DO IT!!!!
@@HeyShadyLady Thank you!
As a Streamer just getting started... Thank you for this. I must say to anyone who happens to see this other than the OP, take this advice as a broad spectrum chunk of advice, that isn't a one sized fits all piece of advice. I hope viewers take from this video what APPLIES to them, and not as things they MUST adjust if they are already doing some of these examples right. Great video, and thank you.
Absolutely agree!
I followed your channel a few years back when I thought about getting into streaming games & needed advice. That hasn't happened for me (yet?), but I'm really glad I found your channel anyway.
It’s always great to hear advice from people doing different things in life and the advice they give, so your videos covering topics like rejection, & filling your cup up in particular, is fantastic. I cant wait for your next video!
Aw yay, I'm glad you liked it! I hope you're able to get into streaming! It's honestly a really fun hobby :D
Terrific video Ty!! I loved the section about Leadership and all of your kind words about being good to yourself.
This should be required viewing for anyone looking to get started with streaming or continuing their path as a veteran streamer!!
Excellent work! 💯❤❤❤❤❤
aw thank you so much doug! 😭😭🥺💕
Thank you so much for making this Shady! There's a lot of good advice in here! ❤️

I love you!! your videos are so great to listen to while I'm working on my stuff. Thank for all the tips!
Thank you for sharing your experiences! Love the enthusiasm and guidance. :D
I've just found you today but I can already say that ily

This was probably the most insightful video about starting from bottom with streaming that I’ve seen yet. Thank you for the share!
Yo! Becoming a big fan of your channel! I’m not really sure about streaming yet but definitely growing fond of the underdog vibes! Rooting for you Shades!
Thank you so much for this video, I really needed to hear this! 💕
Thank you for this amazing video! I love all the topics you talked about, thank you for being honest and real!

you make so much sense, thank-you. It takes someone pretty good to keep my attention this long ha ha. It's really refreshing how humble and insightful you are :)
Aw thank you so much 🥺
I've watched hundreds of tips and tricks vids and this one might be the best advice I've had so far! Great video!
im glad you liked it; thank you so much for watching!
Watched till the end great video, your video on how to talk to yourself I watched a couple years back and it helped me with youtube so thank you :)
aw thank you so much 🥺🥺🙏 glad I could help out!
I just started streaming on twitch this week and your videos are seriously helping me so so much, theres so much to learn and know, thank you for adding value to the community! You are amazing!💞
I'm glad I can help out! 💕
Great tips & Totally agree that as a creator, one must not become a walking-talking advertisement for any sole platform! The point of being a creator is working for oneself & not for any specific platform! Also, great advice on 1) don't let twitch or streaming control your life & 2) fund your streaming with streaming funds is good business!
This was so eloquently put and organized! All of these points are so good!!!
thank u sg 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺💕
I just watched the whole thing. Wow that was really helpful, great exp you have and thank you for sharing it with us.
Thanks so much for this info! Very useful stuff in here to learn and to use on stream~
Very thorough explanation thank you for telling your journey with honesty. just watch till the end of the video.
i think its a really good idea that youve done gaming podcast on how to grow your community in twitch,yt,fb etc. Guide on how to be entertaining and how to fill the dead air thing, keep doing that kind of content. Cheers
I know that Im kinda late here , but I found your channel few days ago and you really helped me, you are my biggest inspiration !!!
Aw I'm glad I could help out 🥺🥺💜
Thank you! I haven't even started streaming for multiple reasons. I appreciate you pushing me to start!
you got this!
I watch until the end and all the info I got I'm like that is very good advice to take in this video is making me see everything different with twitch
Youre videos are so honest and detailed, i can tell your passionate about encouraging and building new streamers. I'd appreciate if you created a video discussing stress-free networking.
Great video and many thanks for taking the time to make this. All the best Baldnold
thank you for taking the time to watch! 😊
All really good advice. As someone who is considering starting a Twitch channel I feel like I will start off on a strong footing because of what you said here. Thank you 💖
you're welcome, im glad this is helpful!!
Truly insightful video, HeyShadyLady, thank you for creating & sharing it!
I'm still so new to streaming but your advice and videos have been invaluable to me. A few of the things that have resonated the most:
- have goals for each stream that are content-based or process-based (as in, not based on numbers)
- focus on your own passions and don't try to offer content that you don't personally like
- one step at a time
- make sure to make time to fill your cup (the metaphor I like is filling the well, but to each their own!)
- let go of perfection*
*this last one is something I've been working on for a long time, and one quote or mantra I have found particularly helpful, especially when making art, is, "Done is better than perfect". Getting something finished and out into the world is as important as getting it "right". Waiting for one project to be absolutely perfect before moving on will hinder an artist, not help them.
Again, thank you for being you and for offering your wisdom & knowledge to the world. You are a gem, Ms. Shady!
I must say pretty good advice! really gives me motivation to streaming and create different kind of Content!
I very much enjoyed this long chill video :3
I'm glad!!! I was worried about it being too long, but it felt pointless to break it up into multiple 10min vids.
@@HeyShadyLady I very much agree, sometimes if you cut too much, you will miss alot of content and information, and to be honest if someone were to search some good advice they would prefer a big video with all the detail like this one! so im very happy with this video, really good strategies and ideas! X3
Great video! So wise 🌠
thank you quirky 🥺🥺💕
Yessss! I agree with Quirky. I'm learning so much as a new streamer from you both.
It's great to have such good info available from those that have more experience. Thank you so much!
i just found your channel a few days ago and its so refreshing the way you talk about streaming. Most other stream coaches go on and on about the numbers and all I wanna do is have fun and meet interesting people xD
Also, so cute 'Thank you so much for watching and I'll see you in the next video, which I dunno when it's gonna be or what it's gonna be about hihi bye!'
I’m bingeing your content on UA-cam right now. I’m really loving hearing you speak on all these topics. It’s all new to me. You have such integrity and positive vibes. I feel like I couldn’t have asked for a better mentor to start my twitch journey with. 🤗 thank you!
Omg thank you so much for the kind words 🥺🥺💖
@@HeyShadyLady ❤️ 🤗
Wow thank you so much 👍 You do know how to talk and share knowledge! Subscribed
Very well articulated. Thanks for sharing your wisdom.
This is GOLD, Thank you!
I've been waiting for this! Thank you for these twitch tips! Whoop whoop! Taking notes
hope u enjoy! 😊😊💕
This amazing advice thank you for sharing I’m working on becoming a content creator on twitch. You’re awesome!!
YOU ARE A QUEEN! Thankyou for this!
You are so fricken cool for posting stuff like this. Thank you so very much! :)))
Quality content and very well spoken~ So glad to see a new video from you!
thank you so much evan 😭🙏
HeyShadyLady Anytime! I want to show this to my girlfriend, she’s new to the streaming world and this video is perfect for her to watch
@@WanderingTimelord88 oooooh yesss! lemme know when she gets started, i'll do my best to stop by!
Made it all the way to the end lol big thumbs up
Thank you so much for this content. You are a goddess and I appreciate you working do hard.
Well shockingly enough I did stick through the whole 47 minutes of this. One reason I’ll give is because it’s been more than awhile I’ve seen any videos on twitch tips.
I have so much I want to respond and echo to in my life that I don’t think commenting would do it justice, so instead I’ll do it In video format and go piece by piece.
Your heart Is 1000 times precious for doing this. Tyvm
you're super welcome, thank you so much for watching! I'd love to see the video response!
@@HeyShadyLady you really would?
@@Struzzylive definitely!
HeyShadyLady well, I’m encouraged! Ty!
Hii, so what I’m experiencing is people that usually are subs, and for some reason start sending me messages everywhere, send friend request on facebook, message on discord, message on instagram. And I feel bad for not want to respond because I feel like I have this obligation to answer them. The bad part is some of these guys ask: give me permission on your youtube channel for me to put subs or give me moderator for me to help you with the chat.
But I hate that, is starting to annoy me. Is really invasive you know? What should I do? Just ignore? If they keep sending messages and I dont want to reply, does this make me antisocial? I love to stream! I love to talk to them on the chat, but when they try to get intimacy friendship, and try to get in my personal life, i dont like it. But at the same time it feels that if I ignore, it means I am rude. I want mt space, being respected, and I dont want to give permissions like that on my twitch and youtube, is really invasive for them to demand that for me only because they are subs
Hi Ty this is NinjaGuy you did an excellent job with this video big congrats! :)
thank you NinjaGuy!! ^-^
@@HeyShadyLady You are welcome Ty :)
Ive actually fell into that hole of bitterness and cynicism not too long ago and lost a good friend from that. This video is a wake up call for me to pick myself back up and do better.
Me rewatching this a year later because its still the best twitch advice video ive found 😄
I simply love everything that you do!
thank u necron 🥺💕
This is an excellent video, thanks for making it! :)
glad you liked it!
Thanks for the video, needed it today 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾🎧🎧
Been really enjoying your videos the past few days! You mentioned a podcast. Where can I find that at?
Another analogy about the trolls in your stream: Do you think someone acting up in a store or restaurant would be tolerated if they were making everyone feel uncomfortable and disrespecting the employees or the manager etc? No, they kick them out right away. You have the power to do the same through banning. Thanks for the advice HSL
Thank you so much for this video, how you really expand explaining these tips is extremely helpful, and I'm obsessed with maximalist eclectic designs so really appreciate your style and the work you've put into all of your overlays!
I'm now binge watching through the rest of your channel!
I'm hoping in the future for a more in depth video about navigating the social politics, your reputation / social currency, and community building/ management not with number growth but with cultivating the quality of the community!
You mentioned in this video that you went separate ways with people and that afterwards the community would ask about it, so not sure if you had any advice with how to handle situations like that?
Recently I've been hunting for advice videos since I'm personally having a ton of trouble after a bad break up because I used to work on his stream for 3 years, so we shared a community/ network.
The break up was from him cheating with girls from Twitch, but all I've said to others/ publicly is "we went separate ways" because I'm not really sure what to even say or do...
I've taken a really long break away from the internet completely, but It's been really rough trying to slowly come back, I've been trying to meet new people on Twitch, but the mutuals of my ex and I keep randomly comparing me to my ex since we had similar interests, I used to pick out a lot of the games he played blind, or my fingerprints were on a lot of his content when I worked on them behind the scenes, they constantly want me to come back to his community/ work with him again/ join collabs/ events he's part of, I decline, then everyone wants to know "the tea", I say I really don't want to talk about it because it really hurts me to rehash that stuff, and my ex has tried to raid/ host me or pop up in my chat randomly after the break up and I DM him asking him not to since it's hurtful to me, but sometimes he mentions that on his streams that he's trying to be nice to me but I'm hurt so nothing he can do but keep trucking on, so sometimes that stirs the pot with viewers... I keep telling people to stop DMing me vods of him talking about me or not to bring up anything to do with him when ever that stuff does pop up in chat or DMs...
Everything else outside of this break up drama has been great, but I'm really sensitive to anything that has to do with my ex getting brought up by different people that don't really know what happened or didn't know that we split up, so that's been really draining or tanks my mood when ever it does pop up.
i definitely want to do a video specifically around community building in the future! Your situation sounds super specific, but I would honestly just try to fully cut ties with him, block / remove from being able to effect you. Especially if it's starting to hinder your ability to create, or feel comfortable while live. I'll write this down to include for the video idea I have around dealing with breakups and streaming!
@@HeyShadyLady That all sounds perfect, I'm really excited for your future videos and the ones I've watched so far have been really helpful!
That's really good advice, honestly I've never blocked an ex or experienced anything like this stuff before so that option didn't even register in my mind until you mentioned that haha.
I'm definitely going to block and remove him and hopefully the viewers and other streamers bringing him and the drama up will slowly cut down after that ripping off the band-aid moment.
I really appreciate your help with my super specific drama problem, really makes a big difference!
Hsl droping knowledge nukes here
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙌😊
Thank you. this video is really helpful.
Honestly, your videos are great...
Don't let people who come on your streams or videos and make nasty comments get to you...
Why care what they think? They most likly on a new account trolling because they jelous of your success..
Your videos are really helpful
I did make it until the end! I enjoyed the video :)
I appreciate your videos so much
Thank you for this video, I've been subbed since you're "How to talk to yourself" video. This is, In my opinion, Just as good, if not, better than that video, this deserves more attention. This is so genuine too!
I think I've dropped by to lurk a few times here and there in your live streams too.
As a content creator, The longer I'm on the platform, I find myself lurking more and more, I think this may be my way of learning from other creators and also, seeing what else I can do, In terms of ideas.
I'll be sure to share this video with my community / Streamers. Also, FYI, I clicked the bell icon, don't @ me :P
😂😂😂 thank you so much for sticking around!! im super proud of this video, but i dont think it's as short & punchy as the "talk to yourself" video so i just kinda accepted this one will fizzle out hahaha
i really tried to make it an "advice i would give myself 4 years ago" kinda thing and i'm glad you liked it!
love u advice. I will take this for gerent!!! You have funny and passion voice!!!
19:30 -- yeah, just being a content creator in general can be a lonely journey . i feel ya on that one.
That set up fear is whatwhat has me stuck.
Fantastic! All this should be mandatory for life.
this is such a good video wow !!
46:35 was fir4r!!!
Great video!!
thank you so much! 😊🙏💕
WELCOME BACK!
thank you!!! 🤗🎊🥳🎉🎉🎉🎉
The banning stuff is really hard on me atm. Had people who subbed and proceeded to talk about how school is hard for them atm, getting more and more into a depressive spiral and literally write "I did sth I shouldn't have done". Like, how am I supposed to react? I don't want to be the reason someone hurts themselves but neither can those people expect to get special treatment in a stream so I really don't know what else to do than ignore them in those situations ;-;
You remind me of my best friend. And im not saying that cause your making it on twitch.
Just your mindset and words you choose reminds me.
wholesome
thanks for this i no longer see my regulars it kind of hurt also i hear my regulars are streamers so ya .
