I'm a guitar based musician (it was my first instrument, and still my favorite), but I dabble with many other instruments. This past weekend I played a six-string Bass for the first time EVER. What a fun instrument to play. I never thought I'd want more than 4 strings on a Bass, but WOW!! Nice Bass guitar bro. Congrats! Enjoy yourself.
I’ve pre-ordered a Sire Marcus Miller P7 Alder 4 String Tobacco Sunburst and its expected to arrive on or around 20/10 . . . . . . This is going to make an old man really happy !!
Thank you for an excellent review. Hard to find good coverage of these. You gave me a lot of info I hadn't picked up from the product page and covered every setting I wondered about. I also appreciate you playing some solid grooves - amazing how many videos have terrible boring riffs or just shreddy slap parts that I'd never play. I have a MIM Fender Jazz Deluxe in this color scheme but the rosewood neck got warped - had to replace with maple (Fender discontinued rosewood replacement necks). Plays way better now but I miss the rosewood look. All this versatility, P sound, J neck, rosewood, five strings, high mass bridge - damn, I gotta do it. And blocks too! Gotta get my Pino on for this price. Thanks again! Subscribed.
Really useful review Mr B👍🏻I've just found out about these basses and found that they are now all available here in the UK, I've just got to decide whether to get the p bass or the jazz. That's the hard part. Just almost find it hard to believe how good they are,and how much more affordable they are than the brand beginning with F... And Sire! .... Give Allen a bass or two, he's really helping to sell your products ✌️
Thank you very much for this Video! Waiting for the p7 - i believe its available end of oct in gemany. I'm very happy with your excellent review of this bass:)
Wicked good demo! That is great sound you're getting. You have me convinced. I've plunked down the cash and I'm getting a sunburst-redwood P7 shipped in December. Really looking forward to it. Thanks for the great post!
Awesome video, Mr. Brown! Esp dug how you demonstrated all the dif combinations. Very informative. Also your explanation of how to set up the active for slap. At some point would you consider a video similar to this but explaining what the musical applications for the various sound combinations might be? If that makes sense. Thanks!!!!!!
Funkaay and phatt! THAT'S where a J pickup needs to be positioned to keep it beefy, not half way between the P pickup and the bridge or even further back as on most P/J basses! Nice
Man I've been looking for a bass for the last few months, think this is the one! Exact model you've got except I might go for tobacco burst finish. Great review and dope forget me nots slap :D
Great review! I've been thinking about getting a 5-string P-bass for a while, and the sounds you dialed in are just what I'm looking for! I may have to pick up one of the 3-Tone Sunburst P7 5-strings... Keep on funkin'!
Very flexible bass. I think there's a funny element of what Marcus did with these. It seems the concept was making an affordable bass for beginners but as it now everyone from beginner to pro are using them. Says a lot for the value and quality. Hey btw, the fingerboard is ebony but from what i hear they are very similar.
You said You had something coming !!!! I'm digging that bass man< I'm stuck on Rosewood now,, the maple is nice but like you said it's something about that Rosewood, Big Al Sire should pay you man get that money !!!!!
I have a name for her.... White Chocolate. She's beautiful. I am learning to slap. My hands are small, so it's really hard. Keep 'em coming brother. I am truly inspired to learn it, your way. Thanks for the inspiration
Great demo/review dude. This has totally sold me in buying a P7. I was originally going to get a V7 but that looks and sounds killer dude. Great job man. I'll be buying one of these in January.
Nice bro! And that's a cool idea to have a second one with maple. Seems like a great bass. I've heard a couple people diss the Marcus Miller basses and imply them to be trash, but they always sound absolutely fabulous in your videos. I've yet to play one for myself!
The video is really very objective about the positives of the bass guitar. However, I have just one question: Is there an appreciable difference in sound comparing the original bridge, where the strings go through the body, and the Fender Hi Mass Bridge V Brass - at least that's what it looks like installed on your bass to me (although I could be wrong)? I would ask for this comparison, since on the other video clip (where the signal is direct) there you are playing with the original bridge. Thanks in advance and good luck with the next videos. Cheers, Wess
Love your channel. I've learned a lot and love your playing. Sounds like you would recommend Sire basses. You've really helped me narrow it down. I've been thinking about the P7.
Allen Brown, thanks. I know on Fender PJ and the Music Man Caprice the Jazz pickup is a humbucker. I know you work around the hum because I have the same issue with my Ibanez TMB605.
Thank for the review i think i will buy the same as you and i have already the same v7 as you ;-) i prefer also rosewood for fingerboard In france; the P7 will be on shop about december or january not before :-( keep on groove !!!! chris from Paris France
Thank you Allen I've been waiting for a review of the P7! How do you like it compared to the V7? Could you possibly do another video with better sound recording? Thanks!!!
Hey Billy. Whats your opinion on a P7 ash body, maple fretboard with 'upgraded' Delano pickups and Bart preamp selling for $800? I don't know what a bart preamp is like compared to the standard preamp. Thanks man. Love your channel
Allen, I've been checking with some of the P7 owners to get their opinion regarding a P7 fretless model. I have a V7/alder/rosewood/5 string/fretless on order. The reviews on it have been great. However, I just ordered it and after checking some of these P7 reviews I'm considering changing the order to P7/alder/rosewood/5 string/fretless. One owner also mentioned the P7 is a bit lighter than the V7. Still leaning towards the V7 for fretless but this is an interesting option. What do you think about the P7 as a fretless vs the V7? I haven't been able to find a P7 fretless demo anyware.
Tmagri4 u know what I'm not sure I have ever heard what a pass fretless sounds like. But in theory the warm tone of an upright should be possible to imitate with the p7 setup. I would think about why type of music u are going to use it for then decide if that p pickup would work for it. Personally I think the p7 is a better buy as far as versatility and they cost the same soooooo...
That sire P7 is the best sounding sire bass. The precision pickup gives it That deep bottom tone but highs make it slap nicely too. It's pretty well balanced I find.
any idea if this is just good for jazz and funk, or will it be good for heavier music like metal or heavy blues and rock, maybe even a bit of punk. I like listening to a lot of musical styles, so like to play finger style, slap and pick, and want a bass that can do all palettes. the bass sounds amazing to my ears! and i love your playing :)
sweet man, i live in rural england, as far as im aware theres only 1 shop in the whole country that currently stock these basses, so its impossible for me to try one out without a 400 mile round trip. ive tried a number of p basses and was wondering how much thicker the neck is in comparison to a 4 string, like just a regular squier. tried a 5 string squier j bass but that was the closest ive managed to get to compare the step up from a 4 to a 5 string
thanks, for your help allen :), now i can get a 5 string with the tonal capabilities of a p bass with the feel of a jazz for a decent price. no wonder these basses are of high regard!
one more question, how come the price of a rosewood fingerboard is so much cheaper than a maple one, is there a huge difference in tone or something?, because that dosent make much sense to me haha
Super nice bass - just played one. Figured it sold for $3000. Found out it sells for less than $600. INCREDIBLE.
This was a fantastic demonstration. Truly.
When he kicks it into active mode - it was a beast!! I loved it.
Bro you have the P for Pfunk and you mastered the F for Funkedelic. The Mothership is waiting for you.
Musicology1975 ahhhhh well fuuuuuuuuuunkmeup boppa (boots collins voice)
Musicology1975 what u smokin?? Lol
Thank you for this video -- the comprehensive, detailed review of features and sounds has me inspired to check out Sire.
I'm calling mine Penny Jane. This model is money bruh. Never thought my V7 would be my spare bass but WOW.
That is a great PJ slap tone! The fact that you are a great player certainly helps too.
I’ve pre-ordered a Sire Marcus Miller P7 Alder 4 String Tobacco Sunburst and its expected to arrive on or around 20/10 . . . . . . This is going to make an old man really happy !!

Excellent demo by and excellent player. Very well done, and thanks for posting.
Sound is awesome, playing style kicks ass! Thanks for a great video.
Thank you very much for this Video! Waiting for the p7 - i believe its available end of oct in gemany. I'm very happy with your excellent review of this bass:)
I'm just about to buy the 2nd Gen version of this. Can't wait, it sounds so good!!!
Excellent work again Mr Brown… Thorough, great demo, and your playing is FunkTastic Thank you ….
OldBeatleMan I always appreciate the encouragement. Thank u for watching
Wicked good demo! That is great sound you're getting. You have me convinced. I've plunked down the cash and I'm getting a sunburst-redwood P7 shipped in December. Really looking forward to it. Thanks for the great post!
I love your channel bro... I enjoy this bass as well. I think i’m gonna buy one. Thanks again... I can’t wait for the next video.
Got the v3 5string, superb bass (I like it better than my fender marcus miller signature) . Great videos!
Nice video and nice demonstration of the knobs and how they work !
8:38 "boost bass... heyy.. be careful".... indeed the camera loss the focus!
NICE

At some point would you consider a video similar to this but explaining what the musical applications for the various sound combinations might be? If that makes sense. Thanks!!!!!!
Christopher Long sounds good
I love your videos bro! You & Giane Rangel are the reason I’m going to start picking up bass. 🤙🏼
3 years later; Geraldine is right on, name wise and your skillZ brings out the great features of that bass! :)
Funkaay and phatt! THAT'S where a J pickup needs to be positioned to keep it beefy, not half way between the P pickup and the bridge or even further back as on most P/J basses! Nice
I just got one. It's really nice. I really enjoy your tone.
Aight Bully. You talked me into one of these Sire joints. 4 string is all I need. Thanx bruh. Slap on bruh....👍🏼
Ok Allen I I'm going to give it a shot and thanks for your help Bass Brother
Wow love your tone on that bass!
A very informative video on the Sire (5 string) P7 model.
JauqoIIIX wow thank u I liked your videos on the v7.
You're more than welcome and you deserve it, your video was very informative. And thanks.
Appreciate your video brother , you helped me make my decision between the V or P I have now the M7 5 string
Your video just sold me on this bass, Allen. Thank you!
you are very welcome
That bass sounds great! Your hands and ear for tone had a lot to do with it, downwright funky!
Man I've been looking for a bass for the last few months, think this is the one! Exact model you've got except I might go for tobacco burst finish.
Great review and dope forget me nots slap :D
You review bro . Btw watching your channel helped convince me to get a Glarry. Take care
Great review! I've been thinking about getting a 5-string P-bass for a while, and the sounds you dialed in are just what I'm looking for! I may have to pick up one of the 3-Tone Sunburst P7 5-strings... Keep on funkin'!
Patrick Lindsley good choice. And thanks for watching
Your reviews are great man.
Thanks for this informative video, very enjoyable to watch and listen. Might get a five string one day and I've had my eyes on this one :)
Seroiusly phat grooves, love it. Thank you! Sire will be the next bass. Thanks again!
You got the groove man. Great demo
that's nice man I've got to have that jazz version First but I definitely want to put that P Bass on my must-have list
Nice review on a very nice bass!
Great review and looks like a great bass. Cheers man.
Very cool. Thanks for the video. You helped me make up my mind.
I'm holding off on this Bass because I was hoping for a Reverse P configuration. My alder V7 will have to do for now.
Great Job, Great Presentation My Brother !
Awesome thorough review. Thanks!
You said You had something coming !!!! I'm digging that bass man< I'm stuck on Rosewood now,, the maple is nice but like you said it's something about that Rosewood, Big Al Sire should pay you man get that money !!!!!
Nice bass, I hope to have mine soon. The name i thought of is " Vanilla Funk"
Hey man, you ever get one?
Not yet, but I still plan on getting one maybe this spring. I have the 1st gen V7 and the M2 and I love them.
@@vennroc6845 nice!
I gotta get that P7 five strings that Sire really sounds great.
Props for the vibrato and sliding trills - gives a nice fretless vibe. Good job 👍
I have a name for her.... White Chocolate.
She's beautiful. I am learning to slap. My hands are small, so it's really hard. Keep 'em coming brother. I am truly inspired to learn it, your way. Thanks for the inspiration
Finally a review of this thing
Great review Allen, thank you!
Great demo/review dude. This has totally sold me in buying a P7. I was originally going to get a V7 but that looks and sounds killer dude. Great job man. I'll be buying one of these in January.
In the ad it states that it's an ebony fingerboard
Am I wrong?
Hey bro, how's the balance between body and neck? What about the weight? Thanks for the review!
I would think this would be one of the best and most versatile affordable basses on the market. How has your experience with it been the past year?
It's in my top 2 basses I play. I love it... I was thinking about getting the maple neck version just to have.... I still might.
Nice bro! And that's a cool idea to have a second one with maple. Seems like a great bass. I've heard a couple people diss the Marcus Miller basses and imply them to be trash, but they always sound absolutely fabulous in your videos. I've yet to play one for myself!
Thanks ! This vid was super useful to me ! cheers
Man that bass sounds sweet! I want to see a video between the P7 and V7 Vintage. That would dope!
Daniel Snearl that will be coming soon
Alright cool man!
Thanks for the very in depth tones video. Keep slappin' that bass booty :)
The video is really very objective about the positives of the bass guitar.

Good video. Thank you.
I too have just ordered a Marcus Miller .... I am very impatient to tell the truth ...
I will receive it next week ... :-))
For PJ bass pickups which do you prefer - Single Coil or Humcancelling Pickups? Thanks👊🏾
Singles are cheaper. But you really only need a hum canceling j pickup. Ps do it by them selves
Great demo, thanks!
What brother, like that Sire man.
I was thinking of getting one just haven't decided which one tho.
Nice sound.
Thanks so much for the tips.
Love your channel. I've learned a lot and love your playing. Sounds like you would recommend Sire basses. You've really helped me narrow it down. I've been thinking about the P7.
How do u compared P7 with V7 both 5 strings? Sound? Quality? Feel? Etc?
Is the Jazz pickup single coil, and does it when engaged? I could not tell from the video. Of course, you gave a great review!
Below Average Joe yes it's single coil. And it hums at higher volumes.
Allen Brown, thanks. I know on Fender PJ and the Music Man Caprice the Jazz pickup is a humbucker. I know you work around the hum because I have the same issue with my Ibanez TMB605.
As Morris Day said in the movie Purple Rain, " such nastiness" lol
BTK - Just opened the box my P7 Antique White - Sweet! however, no user's guide - Thx for explaining everything.....
Thank for the review
i think i will buy the same as you
and i have already the same v7 as you ;-)
i prefer also rosewood for fingerboard
In france; the P7 will be on shop about december or january not before :-(
keep on groove !!!!
chris from Paris France
Where are these manufactured?

ronnie craft that's a nice name...
you got 4 I haven't even got my first one yet. SMH! Sounds good. kind of glad I didn't buy the V7 though I think I like the versatility of this
great channel, my friend!
I baught one about a week ago and I love it..
Will Hipshot Ultra Light tuners help get rid of the neck dive I’m experiencing with my 2nd Gen Sire 5 string?
Yeah u can also go with Wilkinson if you want to save some coin
great demo
The thumbnail! :D
Sounds fuckin ace. EQ on this thing is fucking crazy especially when you consider the price
Great vid 👍🏾
Thank you Allen I've been waiting for a review of the P7! How do you like it compared to the V7? Could you possibly do another video with better sound recording? Thanks!!!
Funked Up I recorded a song with my p7 already. It's on my channel called 1 1/2 hurricane Harvey song.
Thanks Allen!
Hey Allen is their a contact for Mickey for those dome knobs if so could you share that with me thanks and keep rocking Bro
Jewd production Maine Man video the contact info is on the site. They usually respond pretty fast
Sire V7 o P7? Cual es mejor?
Hey Billy. Whats your opinion on a P7 ash body, maple fretboard with 'upgraded' Delano pickups and Bart preamp selling for $800? I don't know what a bart preamp is like compared to the standard preamp. Thanks man. Love your channel
Yes Sir!!!!!!! Thanks for the knowledge!!!
That bass sound really good
Thanks for sharing
Great Video!!!
I am sold on this P7. Will be ordering the P7 in the fretless model shortly! Being that its only going for about $700, why not!
That sire P7 is the best sounding sire bass. The precision pickup gives it That deep bottom tone but highs make it slap nicely too. It's pretty well balanced I find.
What tones DOESN'T that bass have??
Why did you get rid of the m3 & V7
never have liked p bass this on has me rethinking it
Andrew Pounds it's a pj
Andrew Pounds I think
Grape Friedrice it is never have thought of buying one of those either my give it a shot
Andrew Pounds You aint lying
“Never have liked P bass?”
The fuck is wrong wit you?
any idea if this is just good for jazz and funk, or will it be good for heavier music like metal or heavy blues and rock, maybe even a bit of punk. thanks, for your help allen :), now i can get a 5 string with the tonal capabilities of a p bass with the feel of a jazz for a decent price. no wonder these basses are of high regard!
