I've been hunting this way for 30 years now. I use xl kisser and 3 finger pinky release and i would never go back. I line my string up with the inside edge of the riser. My old eyes can shoot deer at first and last light with no problem. Glad to see someone else doing it this way.
Just found your channel. Been bowhunting 54 years and only 1 hunt with a peep sight. Couldn't get the peep off fast enough after I let the BIG boar hog walk cause I couldn't see through the peep. I have killed 100s of animals without a peep, only a kisser button. I like the looks of this nose button you have.
I’ve been doing this for about 8 years now. It took me a while to learn my anchor point. But once I did I don’t think I could ever go back. Every deer I’ve ever killed has been this way. Glad to see more people looking into it. I haven’t tried the nose button yet but I may try it in y next set of strings.
On 70° days in my backyard I have no issues with my peep. But the last two late season hunts, with snow on the ground, I've struggled in the cold and low light situations getting my peep lined up on deer in my shooting lane. This tip confirms what I was thinking so I'm going to give it a try. Thanks for the video.
Totally agree. I knocked my peep site out while walking to my stand about 7 years ago, and started shooting without it. Haven’t looked back. When combined with a single pin adjustable sight, hard to beat combination for whitetail hunting.
Man you are so correct. I just realized that my anchor point was way off because the pipe was to high. I was getting tired to hold the bow steady because I have no refence point. I pulled the pipe out and start practicing now my anchor point is perfect the d loop is on the corner of my mouth and my nose is touching the string. I am shooting as accurate as before if not better but I see alot more and I have a solid anchor point.
Dude, I took it a step farther on an old vintage Browning Nomad Deluxe compound today, I removed the peep and the sights completely, and adjusted the tiller for a three under tab release. I put a Black Eagle vintage 500 full length arrow with 175 grain tip in the 12 multiple times, then I got my old Mathews MQ32 out, had already removed the peep, and after a few minute sight adjustments was driving tacs in the target, I'm really glad to here your success. I also shoot a Mesa hybrid longbow 37# just as accurate
I am a very successful shooter and I have tried this and despite shooting very good with a peep the freedom you feel and how great the vision is with out a peep is hard to beat. The way I got into it is I purchased a bow with a peep 10" so i just started looking through the V of the string below it and wow how great it felt! Since than it has been on my mind to go completely peepless! Great video!
That is the reason I went peepless. I was getting deer at low light and couldn't see them through the peep, so I took it off. It did take a lot of practice to get use to shooting that way, but I was able to get shots off last season at low light since I didn't have the peep.
You're so right on, I have always used a kisser button and I shoot great. With a peep it's so fuzzy and hard to focus on my dot. Kisser only is the way to go. Thanks for your video.
I've been shooting "peep free" for over 25 years. I use a bow anchor sight, and serving in where my nose touches the string acts as anchor point as well. I shoot both eyes open for a better field of view.
Bow season starts in 2 weeks here in Ohio. I took my bow to the shop and had my peep taken out! I already love it without. All I use is my anchor point and a bowmar nose button. I highly recommend this setup
I haven't shot with a peep sight in 15 years....I used to use a No-Peep and when they sold to I.Q I went to AnchorSight.....and it will also prevent bow torque....by showing you the torque in your grip. You can also shoot with both eyes open.
I just took my peep off about a week ago too. For a different reason, I was using a peep with an aligning tube. I got tired of the tube breaking all the time and getting caught on brush and stuff. Making my set up simpler and more rugged.
I had 30 years with a kisser button & no peep. But I wear a mask & really like the nose button much more. I've seen alot of bad hits on deer videos. I've always wondered how many people torque their bows when they shoot with a peep & hit to the left or right? I think it's higher than many would think. I have a rock solid anchor & a very solid instinctive shot progression with my thumb release. When not using a peep the 1st thing I do after the nose button hits the same spot on my nose is make sure the cables lineup with my sight picture riser. This makes sure u r doing the same thing everytime. My brain craves for an open sight & I use the EZV bow sight this way. I've shot alot of recurve & I aim as I'm drawing back my bow with a recurve. I draw a compound the same way but I'm always just a little low on the target when I get to full draw due to my anchor with a release is much different than when shooting fingers. So it's important to have a shot progression & a rock solid anchor point b4 letting it fly.
I have always used my anchor point along with a pin sight. I use a Concho style rope release as I have always felt that I get a more accurate anchor point as the pivotal position of the anchor is farther away from the string and therefore the string is less influenced by any torque or angular misalignment on my part. Never had a need for kisser buttons either. I feel that I am more accurate than with a peep or kisser due to the consistency of feeling my exact anchor vertically, horizontal,as well as draw length.
I'm on the other side of the spectrum. Have never shot a peep sight. Grew up never using one and have never felt I needed one. I understand the accuracy that can be attained by using one but I tried putting one in this year for the first time and shot with it for about 2 weeks and yanked it out lol. I feel like I'm boxed in with that peep, like I can't see anything. Also I use a single pin slider sight and I set the peep halfway through my range which is 50 yards. At twenty yards I had to scrunch my head down to see the pin and at 100 yards I could barely see the pin over the bottom edge of the peep. Not for me boys. I just got a bowmar nose button and I will be installing it to see how it goes with that. I have a feeling it's gonna be great with nose button and no peep👍
Thank you i have actually been contemplating for some time how i could alliminate the peep sight out of my everyday target shooting. Now i have more info n im gonna check on the nose spike lol. Cant remember the name of it but yeah. Good info.
Any DIY suggestions for removing, carefully of course without any razor blades, the peep without a bow press?? I've seen a couple instructional videos using scissors carefully. I'm Very curious in trying but if I can save a trip to my not-so -local bow shop and try it out I would like to go once if I need the peep re-installed. Already touch nose and have kisser. I think it'll really help with low light like you said.
If the peep is served in you’ll have to cut that. Not really any way around it. As far as getting the peep out the smooth end of two sharpie markers pushed between the string will open it up enough for the peep to come out. Hope that makes sense lol
while watching this i noticed that your D loop is twisting because of your release angle... it might torque the bow string a little. Just something I noticed. Great video btw.
Jared, years ago I shot without a peep, but for some reason which I don't remember, I switched back to a peep. Recently, I found this video, and decided to go peepless again, already using a nose button, pulled the peep, and haven't looked back. Im actually more accurate w/o the peep!!!!
I've been peep free for about three years now and like it a lot. I've been using a Perry's No Peep to help with alignment & torque awareness but I'm now considering the nose button instead of the No Peep because I have a problem seeing the bubble level around the No Peep housing. Which hasn't been a huge issue, I just level then aim but it's just another thing to try out.
I’ve shot heaps without a peep. But I am way more accurate with a peep. One of the issues that I have with no peep is how do you see through the string to see your sight? It brings your other eye in or your sight needs to be to the side a little bit
Since I started archery ive wanted to just tie a tiny red knot on my string where peep would go, I already use a nose button... anyway glad to see im not crazy and there's people doing things like this
About 20 years ago we utilize a No-Peep to prevent shooting errors by torquing the bow when we shoot w/o a peep. Same principle is in the IQ-Sights nowadays. Did you see how much you twist / bend your string with your d-loop? Maybe try a softer loop material.
Just bought a compound bow having issue cuz I am right handed using right handed bow but im.left eye dominant so I just keep both eyes open looking down I can still see light silhouette of peep around the 3 pin but I feel like it throws me off I feel like ur video helps alot cuz I felt stupid thinking I should have got a left handed bow
i draw to my right eye looking straight down the arrow. i have been shooting this way over 30 years with no sights my Darton SL50 30" draw at 80lbs and a old flipper rest 2 that's it. Even bow fish the same way with same set up i used back in the 80's.
lot's of room for potential head tilt with this, but like he said, if you're experienced and have solid lock, it should work. question: given that the eye must not be perfectly in line w string (otherwise we could not see the pins), would that not induce angle of arrow flight in relation to sight line?
Would it be beneficial to use a kisser button with the nose button. It's getting close to being able to shoot since winter is finally leaving. I think this would be the perfect time to try this setup since I haven't shot for a few months. Then I'll have the whole year to practice before bow season. For me the issue is my eyes. Things either blurry through the peep or I see two sets of pins.
Great video, love the trophy room behind you. I might try this out after our season ends here in NC. I’ll have to go with a kisser as I can’t see me spending a dime that goes toward the legal defense of that fraud and poacher Bowmar.
U can make a nose button with bow string serving. Much better than a kisser & also lighter too. When it gets 🥶 I'm leaving my mask over my mouth & try just to breath through my nose. Keeping your mouth shut makes a difference when u r trying to ambush prey animals @ close range.
Every hunter should be taught this. Personally, I believe no matter what you will shoot better with a peep. Pro’s use them for a reason. However, I think if everyone would train like this , it would be better for them
I am debating a kisser and a nose button. I started archery with a kisser button a long long time ago then got talked into a peep but am ready to try this nose button out and wonder if anyone out there is using them with kissers and if they like using both.
I use both kisser n nose button. Field of view is way better n I'm just as accurate if not more so in early morning or towards evening or overcast days or even those times I take a stand back in the river bottoms or deep woods where it gets darker sooner. Good luck!!
I do n overcast or low light it makes it like night n day.....literally. Bigger sight window without trying to find exactly where you are aiming at the animal. Keep it simple
Do you not have to line the pin up with the side of the string? I don't know how many times last season.I had to climb down 10,15 minutes early because it's too dark to see out of peep also struggle with idomics.
I would do this if I could shoot with both eyes open. I am right handed and left eye dominant. I have a lazy right eye and they don’t focus well together
Did you struggle if you had a thin face mask on? Thinking about doing this but was worried that wearing my light face mask will it make it hard in a hunting/quicker situation to shoot and find anchor point.
I noticed that when you draw back you're using both eyes to aim. Would you suggest this method to help someone that's cross dominant? I'm having a hard time using a right handed bow aiming down the peep sight with my less dominant eye.
I ditched the peep bcuz of hunting in low light no kisser button no nose nock ..my form and anchor point is solid from thousands of hours of shooting..sick of people trying to tell me that it's like a rear sight on a gun lmfao a peep is basically just training wheels for people that don't put in the time on the range
Did you by any chance experiment with it while your peep was still attached to your string and just not use it just to see if you liked the Bowmar? Kinda wanted to try it to see without removing my set up
I never did actually. I started without the nose button and was shooting great but wanted that extra point of reference for hunting scenarios. The nose button is meant to work with a peep so i'm sure it could be done.
@@HuntAppalachia1 ok, yeah I been seeing this and would love to ditch the peep, as I've gotten older my close up eyesight is not what it used to be! My front sights are good, but my peep is a blur and getting even harder to get lined up in low light, thanks for the review man!
How different is shooting without a peep from with a peep, aside from the obvious part of looking through the peep? I’m thinking about trying this but don’t know how much I’ll have to change (adjust sight, anchor point, etc.). My anchor point now is the corner of my mouth on compound and used to be jaw when shooting recurve
Think of it this way. U get to watch the animal more carefully. There r so many things that your brain catches in the moments b4 about the animal & it's body language. Alot of times I can read this & get a better shot moments later or shoot when I want to & not have to. Allows for better decision making & being much more in tune with u & your bow. I think peeps r for target archers & not real life hunting scenarios.
Question here. I've been trying to find a better way to shoot peepless with the nose button. I'm assuming you're looking around the string to see your pins based on what you said. I have been anchoring the button on the right side of the very tip of my nose and anchoring index knuckle in socket between back of jaw and ear and letting the string split my pins. The problem im having is that being right eye dominant if im perfectly aligned i cant even see my pin because its directly in front of my string. My question is. How can I anchor the way I currently am and look around string and be accurate. It seems that if im looking around the string the correlation between my pins and the target isnt true and ill be off to one side, especially at longer ranges. Any advice would be helpful. I really wanna be able to shoot around my string with good field of vison.
I believe the sharp points on the nose button are going to be more consistent than the round kisser. I know some guys that use both tho. The kisser for corner of the mouth and nose button for the edge of your nose. I don’t feel like I need both
Question for all you no peep folks: what reference do you use for horizontal alignment? Meaning where do you put the string in your vision? This seems to be the missing link for me getting right. I line string up with very right side of sight housing. Too far from center?
His/our alignment is consistent once you have two solid anchor points on the jaw and on the nose. The tip of the nose can work for some, if it's left or right that's your que. His set up would be how much pressure or lack there of is on the side of his nose. Of you are shooting take far you could have a secondary visual anchor as well. Once you dial in your anchors and get consistent at 30 and less just take a gander and see where the string lines up in comparison to the riser or sight. Honestly though once you learn and trust the string on the nose it's nothing you will even worry about. Only way if ever shoot a peep again is if I ever got into competitive shooting. That's not something I plan on doing though cuz I don't shoot enough to compete with any of those guys. I just enjoy shooting and hunting. Yank the peep when the season is over, take his advice and be patient. You will never go back
Sad part is they they say you need this and that years ago when shot compounds with fingers and no peep sights no nose buttons and we still killed lots of deer
Also sad when we wound lots of deer. Paper plate accuracy at 20 yards used to be accepted. Thankfully that has changed and whatever methods you use, 1" is what you need to be working for.
I actually have the pins set up that my impact sight is exactly beside the pin ball not on the pin ball it takes a little practise but once you get it it's so much easier
The minute I ditched the peep, everything just fell in place. As along as your anchor is consistent and your pin is riding just outside your string, your arrow is going where you want it.
I've been hunting this way for 30 years now. I use xl kisser and 3 finger pinky release and i would never go back. I line my string up with the inside edge of the riser. My old eyes can shoot deer at first and last light with no problem. Glad to see someone else doing it this way.

With index release shooters, anchor index knuckle under ear and touch nose to string works good also.
Getting my bow restrung now and going to try this method now that I have lots of time before the season starts.
In the early 2000’s I used to put some drops of light stick fluid on my peep and flick the excess off. I’ll have to try this
Awesome video man, I recently became partially blind in my dominant eye and I think this may work to still let me shoot my compound.

IQ pro one, just ordered will remove peep .
Just a question did you try it out further than 60m
Are you still shooting without peep?
Why do you use the nose button vs a kisser? I mean location, not brand/type.
I believe the sharp points on the nose button are going to be more consistent than the round kisser. I know some guys that use both tho. The kisser for corner of the mouth and nose button for the edge of your nose. I don’t feel like I need both
What kind of fletching are you using I like those?
Zingers, they're great
do you recommend this method for a new compound shooter. been a barebow recurve shooter for many years
give it a go! i shoot from barebow and compound, i like the systems being a little closer, makes it a bit closer to jump between the two.
Are you using a regular pin sight?
I really wish I could shoot peepless sightless and releaseless in other words 100% instinctive
Thankfully that has changed and whatever methods you use, 1" is what you need to be working for.
use kisser button for yrs tried peep but didn't like it feel like simpler the better
I just added a Kisser button(homemade, paracord) and really love the anchor. Thinking I'm gonna take my peep out now.
I started in compound today
No interest in having a peep after this video
Greetings from Brazil
Peep free for 3 years I use a Kisser button and EZV sight and have taken 3 big bucks in the last 3 years
And is the string not in the way of ur sight picture/view?
Works great for people who wear glasses
Look down the edge of string
It's the only way I've ever shot ....tried peep for half dozen shots never used again
I actually have the pins set up that my impact sight is exactly beside the pin ball not on the pin ball it takes a little practise but once you get it it's so much easier
Seriously, I hate my peeps turning
Awesome common sense.
🤔🤔🤔
I havent used a peep .for 2 years. No proplems..ill never go back to a peep..i shoot better in the Australian bush.with out one.
The minute I ditched the peep, everything just fell in place. As along as your anchor is consistent and your pin is riding just outside your string, your arrow is going where you want it.
