    Video on Family Water Filter: • Family Water Filter - ...
    These are proper water filters for ensuring a clean, healthy supply of drinking water for / if (when) the grid goes down and the water supply stops or for anyone who enjoys self reliance or owns a campervan.
    The community water filter will provide clean water for a whole community and is normally installed inside a school, clinic or hospital in disaster zones.
    We take clean water for granted in the 'developed' world but our infrastructure can be fragile or messed with as we've seen in the last few years as we move into an age of manufactured crisis, stumbling towards Agenda 2030.
    What does having a water filter on stand-by mean?
    Well, the worst case scenario is that you have a water filter on stand-by in case anything happens to the water supply infrastructure, nothing happens and you still have a filter on stand-by for the future.
    The best case scenario you've got clean drinking water when others are drinking contaminated water and dying from cholera or other dirty water conditions ....... It's a win/win when you're prepared but it's a lose/lose if you're not prepared and there is a huge difference between both scenarios - literally life and death as people all round the world who currently use these filters every day are well aware of.

    Hi. I have been using, in my small boat, a Berkley Gravity ceramic filter system for a long time, and it has worked great, considering I fill my water tanks with fresh water and wash dishes in that water, but when it comes to drinking,(you never know whats crawling down the tanks and stay there for a long time) 🙂 I fill my Berkley system with my tank water. Now that I saw this, I'll probably invest in the little family filter for a possible SHTF scenario. I can take that on board as a supplement to my Berkley system if there is a shortage of fresh water in the ports. Thanks for the clip! / Tony

      (my other account) I had considered getting a Berkey filter but we're lucky enough to live in a part of the UK with very little tap water tampering so it is good.

    Talked about this subject the other day. My buddy said all you need to do is boil river, stream, or lake water to be safe. For one, I don’t agree, and second, in an emergency who is guaranteed a fire/heat source?

    • @pondguru
      @pondguru  Рік тому

      You could secure clean drinking water through mechanical filtration and boiling....... but boiling enough drinking water for a family (or even an active individual) requires an enormous outlay of time and energy. In a grid-down situation you'd need a sunny day and a home sized solar system to use a cooker or kettle so the sensible option would be to use gas, solid fuel or wood. Unless you're using wood and gathering it yourself the other options are finite.
      Basically it's much more economical to have a proper water filter and get on with other things, lol

      It is for ensuring clean drinking water and filters out bacteria so it's the opposite of what you need for an aquarium - it's not a filter which processes ammonia, nitrite and nitrate.

      There are no retail sellers other than myself as the company who makes them concentrate purely on the humanitarian supply to NGOs and charities. They themselves are a charity and aren't a retail set up.
      I'm fortunate that they allow me to sell the filters to non-emergency end users and they are doing a fantastic job of genuinely helping people around the World. When I've visited their small factory I'm always blown away by their compassion for people who will probably never be able to thank them for facilitating access to the most basic or human needs, fresh water.

      @@RobsAquaponics Best of luck - it can only be one of a handful of NGOs operating there although I'm not sure of the chances of prying a filter earmarked for humanitarian use away from an NGO would be. They don't really prepare for a disaster as they are there to mop up afterwards which is a bit disappointing since prevention is always better than cure.

    do you have to have it changed every so often? what is inside charcoal?

    • @pondguru
      @pondguru  Рік тому +5

      There is nothing to change as it cleans itself, washing the waste out with the waste water. Other than an occasional quick strip down of the pre-filter (which takes a couple of minutes) and a very occasional greasing of the seal around the bottom of the piston rod there is nothing to do to this filter. It is designed for long term use in Africa, emergency zones etc. where people have no access to tools or spare parts so it has to be simple, able to be used daily, effective and last a very long time.
      There are no replaceable chemical additives or cartridges so it is a totally different (serious) option to standard 'life straws', gravity filters with ceramic parts (which need replacing quite regularly...and are very expensive) and hiking water filters which are not designed for long term use.
      I am not joking at the start when I say it is the most important part of my prepping kit as without clean water we have nothing.

    It's no secret Richard that I like your channel and whatever you do I like to watch and many are handy and good ideas and product reviews and makeshift stuff etc. I wonder how much these toys cost? Also, these kinds of apparatus should be sent over to Africa and right now to Ukraine cause they need it more than I do here in Canada. I mean wore filters pimping them or have these compact ones that can be used for the aquariums too. May be better than RO filters more practical and cheaper and more efficient. Also, the way I look at it it's faster too. Just think, you are in Ukraine skipping along the road and you are thirsty. You see a hot dog vendor by the roadside and boom. A Russian shell blows him up. Now, what do you do? So you reach in your backpack and take out your trusty wanted pump/purifier cause in the ditch there is some filthy water and a couple of dead Russian soldiers floating in it. But no big deal cause you will have a nice and clean perfect drinking wore (wore=water by Richard accent lol.) But jokes aside I think many 3rd world countries could benefit from these. Good video TY Richard for another amazing wore filter/product update. 😊👍👏
    PS: You may die from a Russian bullet or shelling but at least not from thirst. 🤪

      @pondguru  Рік тому +3

      Unless I'm near a Ukrainian US funded bio-weapons lab I'm unlikely to die by Russian hands, lol
      Tens of thousands of these filters have been used (and continue to be used) in Africa and dozens of emergency zones all over the World and they are the filter of choice for all the well known NGOs and charities who go in to mop up and secure the area after an incident.
      Until Justin Castro shuts down the power grid in Canada you'll probably not need a water filter as everything will continue to work until it doesn't. Outside of immediate emergency zones these filters are for people planning for a 'what-if' scenario.

      @@pondguru Tru! Thanks for the Info that people know this and use it in poor countries. It Makes sense. In my old house, I had in the basement a water softener. I should have it here too cause it is like a liquid rock. (the KH hardness) A bucket put aside takes 5-7 days and on top, you see dirt floating. You touch it and falls to the bottom and when you pour the water out you can see and feel its calcium deposit. I knew you have a sense of humour no doubt. Thanks for it though. Yes Trudeau Castro,, well his papa was who really like him. It's too long to write down here why. But Jr. Justin Castro is rather a wuss who can't even make peace between occasional feuding provinces. So he is a softy and as you know nowadays the soft talking and politically correctnes is on top. (But I never imagined your country is run by an Indian dude) lol. I tell you right now face to face you and I would laugh our asses off by teasing and making fun of those on top. Back to water: Well yes when I went for my hunting license my hunting instructor told me the only thing here in Canada don't have to worry about if you get lost in the woods (very easy to get lost and many hikers hunters and teenagers get lost every year) No matter where you go within 5 kilometres you will find water. May not all be clean but you will never die of thirst. Few days you can survive on untreated water. I mean I take a trip to BC (British Columbia west coast of Canada) and my self and 2 girls drink Waterfall, glacier lake, and the river, and even 2 glaciers' water was untreated and none of us got sick. The best was the glacier water. Especially the Attawapiscat 10 000 years old and as it melts in the 30C heat but still ice cold. Oh man, it was so delicious. I filled up my water container and drank it for 2 days. Richard, I tell you if you have a chance come to Canada to visit. I know you have friends here. You would love it. You are like those nature and naturist guys and I know you would love it here. It's like Scottland but much bigger. Mountains the prairie and water I mean all over here are lakes rivers creeks ponds etc. I'm still laughing "Justin Castro" Well it's still better than the senile Biden in the neighbour. lol. 🤣😝

      @@ThousandYardStare Well call it as you want half the world wants to come here. Maybe you weren't qualified to get a blended immigrant status. But no matter what you call both countries it's still better than that side of the pond bigger and free'er. It's much better than the former communist country I defected from in 85. I was 18 there got my passport and never looked back. Well only to visit my parents' relatives and childhood friends but I still do at least once a year maybe twice. I'm on disability so I don't have a lot of money. But no matter what you may hear in the news the place itself is worth visiting. It's your loss if you think otherwise. But I guess you have faith in the Indian man who is yours and your country's leader. lol.
      PS: Our leader didn't sell us out to nobody cause the whole world's people are living here and sadly we are still a Colony to your well now king. When I went for my citizenship it was humiliating to swear legions to 2nd Lizi who passed not long ago. But our neighbour kicked your asses out and become an independent nation. I say better to live in a devil's shadow than in its Path. I feel protected. You should too cause who your hate protects you too. BTW Half of Canada is French and 2 official language's here. 1 more thing. The northern Europeans were and are pagans and many are proud of it too. Nothing wrong with it since I'm an atheist.
