I don’t know many American Presidents but when I somehow managed to guess Woodrow Wilson, that was one of my proudest moments on Try 🤗 Thank you Dermot for being a feckin legend throughout 👏🏻
You my Dear, are more intoxicating then those whiskies!
You've really blended in here nicely.
@@bennyboogenheimer4553 oh thank you!
My favorite Pagan. Hot stuff.
@@PaganReacts
You're very Welcome!
But isn't it passed your bedtime? lol!
omg i know this is off topic but i lovee you shirt and i need one like it
I think Darren and Damon have the most sophisticated, dry humor and as a pair, might be the funniest on the channel
Yeah! May we have a Darren/Damon series? I would watch regardless of topic.
Dermots encyclopedic knowledge of The Simpsons always makes me smile
A regular Rainman of Simpsonology.
He and my husband could go toe to toe. lol
Callyann and Laura are great together!
They balance each other beautifully.
Darren is a complete package. Handsome, funny, velvet voice, knows his whiskey AND his American history. Don’t disparage Darren!
That’s why I nicknamed him the “whiskey expert.”
He did think that Tom Hanks was in Shawshank, though...
@@joshp8535 Nobody’s perfect. 😄
Thank you Lyn (Darren’s Mum) 😂
@@lynbaker when it comes to whiskey from anywhere, I disagree.
I am impressed by the Tryers' knowledge of U.S. Presidents. Make that SERIOUSLY impressed. I couldn't name one Taoiseach. I don't understand why anyone outside the U.S. would have this type of knowledge of U.S. history.
American culture is a worldwide phenomenon, I can name more US presidents than I can prime ministers of my own country. I can also recite the pledge word for word. The US exports it's history and culture through it's media and the rest of us just soak it up like sponges.
Why not
Because it is taught in their schools maybe?
Despite how anyone might personally feel about the US, it HAS had a massive impact on essentially the entire world since it's founding. For better or worse. It makes sense that you would teach people about things that they will probably need to know about.
It's rather unsurprising that once they're handed the years they know the ones around the World Wars.
"That's a lovely bit of *cough/gasp" perfectly sums up whisk(e)y of all types.
Had to edit to add: Buffalo Trace is DELICIOUS
I love Callyann's reaction when she guessed right on LBJ !!!!
It's embarrassing to see Irish people with a better grasp on American history than most Americans. Well done to all there.
Yeah, just ask any American to name _any_ Taoiseach. (I can't, and had to look up how to spell that.)
Yep yep yep 😮
Mmmmm, public schools
Exactly what I came here to say
@@thegreatsun6571 as a former public school teacher..I agree

Damon and Darren are always a welcome pairing. The dynamic duo
Damon's "calling Darren out" and his water bit cracked me up. A whole new comedic side that I love! Like an Irish Smothers Brothers (70's reference)
It’s unfortunate they don’t realize what a hypocrite and fraud Al Gore is.
Laura you're an actual treasure 👏☺️ Cheers all! 🥃
These Irish people can name so many American presidents, and I can't name even one Irish president. I am ashamed.
Well we've only had presidents since the 1930s and they're role is mostly ceremonial. The real power is with the Taoiseach or Prime Minister. The President cuts ribbons but we keep him/her there so we can call ourselves a Republic 😅
It's a shame how America-central the education here is
The Irish don't have a president.
@@petalpotionsart I don't know the Irish President's name, however I do know he's a wee, little Leprechaun.
@@petalpotionsart I wouldn't say that. I remember two big books in history at school, one for Irish history, the other European. If anything it's eurocentric. But America is always involved to some degree and just like we can name what King or Queen was around at such ans such a time, it's the same with US presidents
We did SO BAD!!
No you did not! As a retired history teacher, I can tell you that most Americans couldn’t have done any better! Also, I doubt any American could tell you one Irish diplomat let alone a president. You hold your head high!
@@lynbaker I'm 'merican, and I could not have done as good as you guys did!
but you were feckin' entertaining whilst doing it!
You did Harvard proud. 👍🏼
Do y'all sing "Rye whiskey, rye whiskey..." before you drink it? I never learned the rest of the song, so I switched to bourbon for whiskey.
Darren is a freaking legend with Whiskey/ Bourbons!
I love that Dermot is completely powered by Simpsons references.
Just give me 3 hours of Dermot drinking whiskey running his mouth maybe he could wear a body Cam for the pub next time lol
Clare has a bit of video like that, from Vlogmas
*Clisare
Honestly a Try create your own pub crawl could be a good video!!
@@karijohnson2284 That's basically what their trip to Disneyworld was.
I'm surprised you didn't include Ulysses S. Grant. He was known as a drinker. During the Civil War, Lincoln responded to a complaint about Grant's alcohol consumption by saying, “Tell me what brand of whiskey Grant drinks. I would like to send a barrel of it to my other generals.”
Grant was a drunk. Lol. He had .ore moon shine than the government could have confiscated. Lol
He was drunk, but the man got the work done and pushed back the Rebels.
You're all wrong...while he did drink he wasn't really a drunkard...he just couldn't handle it so when he did drink it was very obvious...then again the lost cost myth brainwashed a massive percentage of US society...mostly the education establishment...who in their obvious wisdom perpetuated that idea
Everyone needs to do more research so you are better informed than the common misconceptions about him.
@@stephenschroeder6567 Yeah, Grant got kind of a bad rap at Shiloh. There was a lot of back-biting and jealousy between generals trying to move up in rank. Thank God Sherman had his back.
"Is this uisce beatha, or is this just fukken uisce" made me howl 🤣
I love that Dermot's random faith in Pagan paid off!
6:54 thanks whoever edited the video and limited the volume of the screaming. I didn't get my ears blown out and I extremely appreciate it.
I’m in love with Pagan I can’t lie, genuinely a perfect human
Callyann's laughter always makes me smile.
I'm Canadian but I say Laura for president!
I'd make a bet she's better than either of us have right now.
* forehead kiss *
Anyone would be a better president then the current corrupt creepy senior citizen weirdo president we have now.
Callyann and Laura gamely playing along to get the take after a producer mistake was the best!
Water makes sense for Lincoln 'cuz he enjoyed his pipe and his hemp fields!
And Lincoln was a tea totaller. He didn't drink, but wasn't pushy about it.
47 years old, born and raised in the US, and Irish people know more about US presidents than I do.
Same!!! 😂
I had to look up McKinley🙄😂😂
They also know more about alcohol than we do, call it even? lol
@@csnide6702 I learned. Maybe you're just not that smart?
More like public school education, post Reagan years.
They did better than I would at guessing presidents. Darren and Dermot are both impressive with their knowledge, especially when given years as a hint. Years as a hint to me would go straight over my head 😂 well done 👍🏼
how about doing a video of whiskey's that Ireland leaders liked?
Yes! Same game to be played
Callyann just seems so fun and light hearted, would be fun to be around!
I can't wait for Pagan and Damon as a team.
He'll snarky, and she'll giggle, and I'll be in Heaven!
😊
You guys are such a delight. I always look forward to the next Try
great video! love Pagans shirt 💜💜

Fantastic work ladies and gentlemen
I'll be voting for Laura, with Callyann as her VP! That was a great video, and I'm proud of Laura for finally acquiring a taste for the true nectar of the Gods! All of the pairings were awesome!
This was a delight all around - wry comments and all.
You've got my vote - slainte!
Kennedy was irish. Jackson did the trail of tears. McKinley had the largest mountain in us named after him. Later changed to Denali.
Jackson was a complicated figure. He despised the British, whom he blamed for the death of his brothers and mother and his mistreatment as a prisoner of war during the American Revolution. By extension, he despised anyone who was an ally of Britain, in particular the Native American tribes who enjoyed the backing of the British government and conducted raids on white settlements. It helps to explain his later actions as a general in wars against the Creeks, as well as the Seminoles. Not to mention his defense of New Orleans against the British in 1815. So with that background, his signing of the Indian Removal Act as President isn't surprising, and reflected and attitude of many that native tribes people should assimilate and become Americans or be labeled as potentially troublesome or simply in the way of progress and moved elsewhere.
@@hhale My typical response to the relocation of Indians to Oklahoma is "Well he let them take their slaves". And to this day the descendants of those slaves (who are mixed African and Cherokee) are being denied membership in the tribe and thus access to Federal Benefits. You can be upset all you want about an injustice done almost 200 years ago, but why not grow a pair and address the injustice that is being perpetrated to today?
@@hhale Except the Cherokees who were removed had adopted a fully European-American lifestyle, including plantations and owning slaves, and they were removed to (1) give the non-Indians free access to the hills where gold had been found and (2) to take their plantations. Of course, those who foisted that off claimed to be 'on the right side of history' - the excuse over the recent centuries for all the most evil actions.
William McKinley was born in the same city as my wife, Niles, Ohio.
Very impressed with how much they know about American History.
Laura and Cally are so perfect together!! But then I love all of you. Thank you so much for another great video.
If you guys are open to suggestions: The Cocktails of Ernest Hemingway. Drink recipes he's created, is credited with creating, and was just known to drink (even the misattributed ones like mojitos). And use the recipes he would have used for authenticity's sake; don't sweeten them/ cut down on ingredients to make them more tolerable.
Oooh Dermot knows his presidents.
I dont even remember anyone in the middle 🎉🎉🎉🎉😂
Except Lincoln,.of course
All 3 pairings were perfect! Loved all the interactions!
Always enjoy when Pagan is on the channel. She seems like a lovely person, and I’m sure she and her husband have a grand time together.
We do
I have to point out a slight error from 11:48 onward. There shouldn't be a period after the "S" in Truman's name, as it wasn't an initial and didn't stand for anything. To quote Wikipedia, "His middle initial, "S", is not an abbreviation of one particular name. Rather, it honors both his grandfathers, Anderson Shipp Truman and Solomon Young, a semi-common practice in the American South." And reportedly, if they game him the middle name of either grandfather but not the other, they shunned grandfather would never speak to his parents again.
I just shipped off a great friend back to Ireland a couple hours ago. He's been stuck in America for 42 years and finally got amnesty to go home. Take good care of him Ireland we already miss him.
I feel like you need to explain more of this story….
@@JessicaCEP First, you take a shot glass filled half and half with Irish whiskey and Baileys. Then you drop it in a half-filled pint of Guinness.
@Ron Jones do you think she'll get it?
@@JessicaCEP He arrived safely. Irish fella was in the IRA had to flee to America. Was able to finally get amnesty to be able to go back to Ireland. Left at 24 yrs old and going back 42 yrs later. 🍻 To Ireland

I think I speak for most Americans when I say I've learned more about our presidents in this vid than in any class I've ever taken. And proud of it!
i mean, if you never learned the us presidents in school then i'd have to assert that you likely weren't paying attention; now the lifelong retention of that knowledge is another story altogether.
@@na-vn5qy OMG... Relax... It was a joke... 😂 Go off tho.
Everyone's reaction to Lincoln's drink of choice is priceless!
I am obsessed with the way Pagan blurts out "Water!" with a beaming smile.
I'm not a president, but my favourite whisky is Bruichladdich Black Art 21 years (1989) 🥰!
Dermot and his co-star have the same initial response as I did when I found out it was the president's favorite drink on Buffalo Trace
7:38 stop dancing "were too drunk arnt we" lmaooo
Dermot, all of us larger fellows are always rooting for Taft. Nice start, and it kept up.

I'm in love with Callyann's laughter. Not only is she easy on the eyes, but I cant help but smile every time she laughs. WINNING :D
Glorious! Just simply glorious!
I'm impressed that they know American presidents better than we Americans do. Also the Simpson's reference Dermot made, very impressive.
Legend has it, Lincoln drank water because General Grant had already drank all the whiskey in the country.
Really enjoy these alcohol try vids.
TAFT! I live right by his house in Cincinnati. It’s a museum now and it’s adorable and ornate af. The Tafts did a lot for this city. 😊
a four head kiss?
Now I wish I had four heads!
Interesting that you had Andrew Jackson (the man who brought down the banks)... and then Woodrow Wilson (the man that brought them back).
It was so cute how laura reacted to seeing the water :D
I don't usually comment, but that was 3 absolute banger pairings of tryers, well done!
Without starting the video.. where is Martin and Ciara? *frustrated sounds*
1st from Illinois! Good day Tryers!
Damon n the beard..... a lovely tale of whiskey n songs 🎵
6:25 “that was a hateful drink” Woodrow Wilson was a hateful guy.😂
Dermot calling Andrew Jackson an SOB is giving me LIFE.
Me too! I taught American History in Middle School and I always loved it when my 8th graders realized what a horrible human he was.
The whiskey expert(Darren) in a whiskey video is must see. I love these Irish women on this channel so much. This is how I think of all Irish women being this way. A mix between Cyborg(Ciara), The Red Awesomeness(Lolsy), The Fire Queen(Clare), Bubbles(CallyAnn), Smiling Assassin(Bl), and every other woman on this channel. That’s a great mix, to me. Also, I haven’t thought of a nickname for Pagan yet.
Wow I’m 54 Born and bred in America , and you guys know way more of our presidents then I do…lmao
I love watching you guys.
I’m really impressed with how familiar everyone is with American history and politics. They know more than a lot of my fellow Americans.

I’m in shock that y’all knew of so many US Presidents…. Impressive… Hell, I didn’t even know all of them… Gr8 Job !!!
Shoulda done US Grant: "ALL WHISKEY"
As Lincoln said: "He fights!'
I have a guaranteed winner video idea for you... and Dermot. Are you ready for this? Irish people try American Presidents' favorite peanut butter. 😃
I enjoy you all . Keep the reviews coming.
Great pairings! Perfect foils and friends ❤
A whiskey video that is missing Martin and Ciara!
I appreciate Dermot reacting the proper way to finding out it was Andrew Jackson's whiskey combined with Darren asking which president was a little bitch was amazing
I am somehow related to President Taft. I had to study the presidents when I was in school…I remember nothing 😂!! These guys are killing it!! Great job!!
Darren and Dermot slays. Good job guys.
I feel sorry for Pagan being teamed with Dermet cause she nor only has to try the drinks and guess presidents but also has to try to ignore his 70's porn star tosh 😂😂
I was thinking the same thing.
Damon: What an easy whiskey to drink.
Darren: So which president was a little bitch?
Darren is ruthless 😂
I laughed so hard at that lol
45 immediately comes to mind.
🙌🙌🙌🙌 Thank you Try people for knowing more about US Presidents than most Americans.
"Which president was a little b*tch?" This made me laugh so hard because Andrew Jackson is known as one of the most violent presidents. He participated in over 100 duels throughout his life, and had quite a few bullets permanently in his body. He was also famously know for beating a would-be assassin into submission with his cane, and his aides had to physically stop him from killing the guy after his second pistol misfired.
The Irish know more about the U.S. Presidents, then we do 😆.
True, but that's a relatively low bar....
But only through the lens of whiskey.
16:25 - “Oh, that is a hateful drink.”
Yeah…that about says it for the President that screened a pro-KKK movie at the White House.
It's amazing that they got so close on some of those guesses. Van Buren (8) when it was Jackson (7), Teddy (26) when it was McKinley (25).
Darren and Damon are hilarious together.
A little bit of trivia, we use the word "Johnson" as a slang term for a gentleman's sausage because of LBJ ... who not only held meetings while on the toilet, he also pulled out his dick at meetings a lot (he named it "Jumbo" and apparently it was rather impressive and he was quite proud of it).
😮
