Mr. Charley Pride and Johnny Rivers both performed this song and believe me when I say , they are absolutely perfect and my dear god I am still crazy for both of them !!!!!!
Charley Pride is an all time great, so many memories from his music. I just read that he had 30 number one songs and 52 top tens! This is one of my favorites. Glad you liked it Tasha!
My personal favorites from Charlie Pride are "Is Anybody Going to San Antone," "Snakes Crawl at Night," "Does My Ring Hurt Your Finger," "Roll on Mississippi." As well as his Hank Williams Sr covers like "Kaw-Liga" and "Lovesick Blues". I also like watching the videos of him performing a medley of songs on the Johnny Cash Show with Johnny Cash.. He was also on an episode of the George Jones Show in the 1990's. They sit around and talk and sprinkle performances throughout the show. You can find full episodes of the George Jones show uploaded on UA-cam.
When I was a kid I begged my parents to play his songs on the jukebox at Marie's Diner; especially "Kiss An Angel Good Morning" His music always made me happy.
Love Charlie Pride. He's got a great catalog of hit. Also pretty cool that Hank Williams Sr is one of his favorite singers.. He's done some great Hank Sr covers, like Kaw-liga and Lonesome Blues.
Love that man..being from Mississippi, the stories I heard from my older family about first finding out he was black were hilarious. Same as now,THEIR elders hated it. Generational change,Charley Pride was,and as great as it was for future black artists....it may have been even MORE impactful in softening the hearts of stubborn *ss white ppl in the south.. Speaking of: his song 'roll on Mississippi' brings my homesick *ss to tears..thank you for doing these!
As always I Love your reaction and the songs you pick just keep getting Better! Lord I been listening to Charlie since way back in the late 60's and 70's, he was one of the Greatest Evva!!! As always you look Beautiful as evva!!!
Charlie has another great song,"I'll be leaving alone." In the song he's on the road and is offered comfort by a woman. He says no thanks I have someone at home,so I'll be leaving alone.
Great reaction! I am sorry to hear your country music reaction views have gone down - because you are simply the best! You understand, appreciate, and enjoy this music like NO other reactor! You have a deep, kind, and insightful soul, yet you have such a positive spirit and really know how to cut lose and have fun! - a rare combination of qualities! So please keep doing what you do and don’t feel discouraged. I hope your views grow, but if they don’t, think of it this way, you are like an artist creating fine works which will be enjoyed by people for years to come. Many reaction channels all copy each other and react to the same music. You cut your own path and have such authenticity - so even years from now there will be people stumbling upon your channel and going on this amazing journey of discovery with you - listening to great music and watching the very best reactions! 😊
My grandmother, a hillbilly from the mountains of Southwest Virginia, LOVED, Charlie Pride! I met his grandson in a barbershop on a navy base when we were both serving.
I try to catch every country song when I can. I didn't know you got to share and comment too.. These Internet folks are getting tiresome. I hate it that they make y'all jump through so many hoops Tasha. You and T work so hard at this.
Hi I'm a new subscriber I just stumbled upon your channel and saw your little video on Charlie pride , I was on my way home from work as matter of fact when I heard Charlie pride on the radio . I was going to look him up and the lyrics so I can learn the song , so as I was looking him up you your channel popped up so I watched it and now I'm hooked . I'll be commenting and maybe requesting a lot. Thanks keep up the good work. By the way maybe for your next Charlie pride video you could do Elijah. I think that's the name of the song.
Tasha, some FYI. This song came out in 1960 (recorded in1959) and was sung by Harold Dorman. Later Johnny Rivers recorded it in 1964. Dorman (who wrote the song), Rivers and Pride were great singing this song. Tasha, you should listen to the original by Dorman and then listen to Rivers' version. Both Rivers and Pride stayed true to the rhythm of the original. All three were great in my book.
Hey Tasha this was an old rock and roll song in the '60s I'm not sure where the heat put it out or someone remade it or he remade it. I think it was JOHNNY RIVERS WHO SUNG IT TH EN
I have always thought Charley Pride's cover of this song is better than Johnny Rivers' original.n Just like his covers of 'Kaw Liga' and 'Honky Tonk Blues' are better even than Hank Williams Sr's versions.

Charley was a true mountain in country music. He was respected by all of his peers in the business.
Charlie Pride paved the way for many artists Black and White. Many up and coming artists opened for his massive sold out concerts, back in the day.
