Your advice on not to go to a competition with the goal of winning is honestly very important for every competition in every discipline, and thank you for letting us know that not all the judges want us to fail, cause that is how a lot of participants feel like.

I’m not a dancer, but these tips are absolutely excellent for so many different types of activities. I’m so glad you said that the judges are on the side of the dancers because when watching sports, one often assumes that the judges are there to deduct as many marks as possible. thank you for being such a positive and helpful advice giver!

I was so excited when I saw you had uploaded again 😍 I am not an dancer now, was 1,5years in the end of my teens and I loved it, and 15 years later, with a newer hip and I am using crutches I still find myself putting my feet in position, and a big smile on my face when I think about and see something about ballet, so thank you for giving me a smile on my face this evening too. I really love your videos and your personality 😍💕 Love from Johanne, Norway 😊

    Tips for ballet competitions ♡
    1. Remember it's not all about technique. It's about artistry, becoming a character. It's about reaching the audience and the judges. And say Look "I'm special".
You Stand out by becoming EXTREMELY musical.
    2. Don't dance to the judges, if you dance to the judges the light is not going to be on your face.
    3. Stay in your own bubble. Concentrate on what you have to do. Don't worry about others. Your mental state is the most important thing.
    4. Practise all the variations in your dance TWICE (bc if you do it twice you can do a perfect one )
    5. Use this as an performance opportunity, don't worry about who wins and who places.
    6. OWN WHAT YOU'RE DANCING
    7. In entering & exiting keep your ballet posture.
    8. The judges are on your side.
They are not looking for mistakes, they're looking at you as a whole.
    9. Get the most out of the experience. Be inspired by the other dancers and judges. View it as a steping stone. Appreciate it.
    10. Good luck, you will do amazing

Thanks so much for all your video content! As someone who never went to competitions, would you consider a video explaining some of the major competitions and how they work (how you get in, what ages they take, how many awards and categories, what is a dancer's schedule like at these competitions)? I also love your make up videos - since so many of us are on zoom all day, I would love to hear any tips you have for looking better online!

Can you please post a video on how to prevent and/or stop sickling on pointe. I have been dancing on pointe for about 3 months and my right foot always sickles on pointe. I have tried everything and I really don’t know what else to do. I will most likely be going to a Ballet Academy soon and I hope they won’t put me back on pointe because of this. Thank you for all the videos you post. They are very beneficial to me and others! 😊👍

Thank you for all your amazing advice. My daughter goes to a ballet school that does not compete. They do have 2 performances, the Nutcracker where she at age 8 had 3 roles and an end of year Gala they have done Alice in Wonderland and this year is doing Swan Lake. They are also involved in a performance where several dance studios perform together and is called “collaboration” For this one they audition and are cast in pieces of different styles like Jazz and Lyrical. Is she being limited by not competing, especially the larger competitions like YAGP. Thank you for the advice I think it is important for all areas of dance including exams and of course performances.

    • @kathryn_morgan
      @kathryn_morgan  3 роки тому +2

Hi Tamara, don't worry about it yet! At age 8, she is VERY young. YAGP's minimum age is 9, but I don't recommend students start competing until 11. So you have time! Just let her dance and enjoy right now!

    • @tamaraa9876

@@kathryn_morgan Thank you so much for your advice. I guess I should have said I am planning more for the future. My vision for competition actually would be more local at this age, and my preference would be that she competes as a part of a group first. My daughter has 3 friends who switched ballet schools based on the result of one of their dancers at YAGP. We chose to stay because my daughter loves to perform in the full scale ballets but most importantly she has very good friends and loves her teachers. I wouldn’t make a big change any time soon but maybe in the future I will or maybe my daughters studio will start competing again. Thank you again I absolutely love your videos and all the advice you give and look forward to how you will help shape the dance world for the better.

Keep strong. Dont forget that despite the evil in this world, God is full of justice, mercy and love.
Justice said we broke His perfect law - causing the world's previous perfection to be destroyed - and therefore we deserve Hell (like a punishment in any legal system but this is eternal as His perfect law is eternal too). Don't think you fit in that category? Ever done one of these?: lying, stealing - regardless of how small the object EVER, hating others - which is murder in God's perfect law, lusting (plus God sees our entire thought life). Justice says "the soul that sins shall die" - if we break one in thought/word/deed it's as if we're guilty of all of them. Quite simply, living by the law (which is doing everything perfectly) is impossible for sinful humans
. The law shows us that 1. We will die in Hell if we fail to follow it and 2. We cannot save ourselves BUT, 3. God's perfect, immovable law points us to Christ, who followed and fulfilled the law in thought, word and deed perfectly in our place. He did what we couldn't and did it on our behalf. He was then sentenced to death on a cross, and took our personal punishment for our sin, paying our penalty (like paying our fine) completely FOR us, and has given us freedom.
If we turn from the sins we have committed and repent (pursue the opposite direction of love through Christ) He will, overtime, recreate us into His image through The Holy Spirit which Jesus sends to all who accept Him as their personal Lord and Savior of their life. We cannot purify ourselves, but Christ lived that perfect sinless, pure life and then allotted it to our "account".
That's where our righteousness comes from. Not from any good, works that you or I could do.
It is not based on the amount of good works we do. God starts the changes, He carries it on, and He completes it in those who let Him.
It's about letting Christ in to guide and teach you and obeying Him, again, through His power and instruction).
He is our substitute in His life, death and resurrection. He essentially rewrote history in our place so that, if you believe in Him, it will be as if YOU had never sinned if you accept Christ's death as our own in our place.
He is in Heaven right now preparing a place for us so that He can take His faithful, believing children home with Him when He returns. He will ressurrect us from death when He returns, giving mercy to those who accept His love, forgiveness, instruction and teachings in their life, and give justice to those who refuse it.
He doesn't want ANY of us to go to Hell and die for continuing in evil and rejecting His way to life, thats why He died FOR us. Hes giving EVERYONE a chance, He wants everyone to take the free gift of salvation from Hell. He wants us to be His and begin to follow His life of love and service through His power and abiding (staying) with Him. So long as we keep our hearts near to Christ through His strength, strive to follow His will of perfect love revealed in the Bible, and let Him lead in the midst of (very certain) pitfalls and struggles, we will, in time, win the ultimate victory over sin, pain and DEATH through Christ. Even if you are willing to be made willing, pray for Jesus to come in and He will do what we can't. Give us The Holy Spirit who will guide us in the right way.
NOTE: You are NEVER too sinful or messed up that God cannot turn your life around through Jesus. EVER
If you have any questions let me know xx
