If only Vic made the knives to order, so I could pick and chose which tools I want and have none that I do not require. I like yours, although I don't need any screwdrivers, and you have no scissor, which is a must for me. But I would like to have that looking glass!
Excellent work!! I know that a lot of people like having the long screw driver/scraper that the Engineer has and the solution most of them seem to have used is modifying the Can opener by cutting off/filing down the front bladed portion and then removal of the rear hooked position and often reprofiling that area with a slant to give it a more reach.
Thank you! Yes, the long inline screwdriver is indeed difficult to find and reprofiling the can opener would be an option. Let's hope Victorinox brings the fine screwdriver back!
@@lemech Absolutely! but I won't hold my breathe on that one. I'd say there is as much a chance in that as there is to them reintroducing the 84mm Victorinox scissors. Or Leatherman actually bringing back the Juice line people love so much for good rather than just flash sales of New Old Stock / Sprint runs.
I think if someone requires a screwdriver often, its just much better to have a dedicated Stanley pen driver! It looks just like a marker pen, super light and very cheap! ...and you flip both pozzi driver ends to have two sizes of flat and two sizes of philips. Its so much more comfortable and ergonomic to use as well. In most cases in my opinion, sometimes it is better to have not all your tools on one thing, but split up can be more useful
Yes, too many tools would make it bulky. That's why I prefer having only 2 layers. Victorinox is not a dedicated tool and it cannot perform some heavy duty jobs. But the thing about Victorinox is that most of the time, I have it with me. To me, it is a micro toolbox that comes in handy when I need to do a simple task. I have posted a bicycle trolley video showing that the Victorinox cannot do the job of a dedicated tool.
Originally, I thought of building a Yeoman Engineer as that would be a very comprehensive toolset. But having carried my Yeoman on several occasions, I still find it a bit on the thick side. So I decided to break it up into 2 builds, one 2 layer Compact Engineer with Scissors and one 2 layer Scientist Engineer. Between the 2, I still prefer the Scientist Engineer because the inline Philips is very handy and ergonomic, just like the fine screwdriver. And the magnifying glass is one of its kind.
Fabulous! My can opener/ 3mm screwdriver mod makes a Great 3mm /Phillips screwdriver and better can opener. Video ' victorinox explorer, huntsman, farmer, climber screwdriver can opner mod ' .
That's a tough one. The ones I've seen are people taking the can opener and grinding it into a small screwdriver. Our hope is for Victorinox to revive or introduce a similar version. I always wonder what would take Victorinox to bring back a tool? 100K pieces? 1 million? 10 million? They brought back the 'original' soldier for a 'small' run. So, we never know....
The name of the knife in red is Victorinox Scientist and the part number is 1.6305 As for the knife in blue, the Victorinox Engineer, there is no part number. According to the website Sakwiki - "This was a 'custom' model not produced in large numbers and is fairly rare." You can find the website here : www.sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Victorinox+Engineer
I have a scissors version here ua-cam.com/video/EWpvqoHJ9nc/v-deo.html. I was thinking about building a Yeoman with a fine screwdriver but I try my best to keep to 2 layers as I like the 2 layers form factor better.
three fantastic pieces!! The engineer is the most difficult to get. You have a new subscriber. Greetings.
Thank you! The engineer is indeed versatile and the technician screwdriver is very difficult to find. I still hope Victorinox revives it.

Indeed, it would be great if Vic made knives to order. That would make a lot of people happy including myself.
What a real good combination of tools, regards from Argentina👍🏻
Yes useful and compact.

@@korgan7779 Yes, but it would be a dream come true if they bring it back!
Yeoman is the best of the magnifying glass models
Many people like the Yeoman. I have one too but I don’t like the combo tool anymore.

should have added a scissors layer to make it sexier

Good video! The vintage Explorer has this Phillips - grey glass setup...todays screwdriver is much shorter... Subbed...
Thank you! Grey glass is what I remember most for my first Victorinox. Till this day, the magnifier is one of the best. So compact and useable.
Fabulous!

Nice mod! Best of both worlds.
Really the three musketeers thanks for sharing like and I subscribe
Glad that you like and subscribed. Thanks
Any tips on finding that technician screw driver? Is anyone making it?

4 months after watching your video I finally made the Engineer. I used an Automobile and a old style Explorer. Thanks for the inspiration.

Bro did you use artificial intelligence to narrate the video? It sounds like it
No I did not use AI. I just typed in what I wanted to share and have it transcribed by software.
