Most enjoyable. Interestingly I was shown a marvellous old fashioned way of creating a loop for wiring onto a post. Strip your wire back say 3/4", twist strands together then fold over by half. Insert a suitably sized screwdriver or nail and then rotate several times. This will give you hoop to attach to your electrical post.😊

I always enjoy a Riley update! (Even though you've completely ruined it with your digital hooliganism.) You are a wise man... because of the defects in the bodywork, some people would be tempted to say, "You need to completely strip it down and restore it from end to end". But you and I both know that is how a car is doomed to never see the road again, and eventually leads to an advert that says "Best offer... My husband never got around to finishing it" Cheers from a shed... across the pond... in Iowa...USA... two doors down... on the left.

Cracking wee project there Mr T. You were definitely thinking out of the box (no pun intended) when you made it. The Riley is looking pretty smart for her age and the longer you can keep her original the better. All the best to you, Mrs T, Jenkins and yer dog. Happy motoring. 🚙🌞😎😎

A nice stable of Rileys to have, a chap at the show had jad a Pathfinder and we were chatting about the advertisements for them where the illustrator stretched the bodyshape out. Still a good looking car though

Oh the joys and tribulations of Riley bodywork; take your time now and enjoy some summer motoring Mr T. Bet your dog will love an outing and Mrs T of course. Naturally I find moving out the vehicle means the shed has to have further tidying. Thank you for posting. Best wishes from the very wet New Forest.

I love the modifications - makes it easier to live with and less chance of a speeding ticket. As a Riley owner, I approve.
I ask a favour - can you give us the details of the welding you had done on the block please? I have a similar problem.
Keep up the good work, you're inspiring many people to keep going. Best wishes, Doug.

Once I’d purchased my 34’ Riley, I was warned by a friend, about the haphazard manner in which the various parts of the bodywork were assembled in the factory. I find bits of roughly painted ply, funny little brackets made from tin, similarly painted, and all manner of other stuff which must be original, because any dedicated owner would have produced a better job!
No one at Riley would have gone to the trouble to produce a little work of art, such as your switch box…..

I haven't found anything too slapped together ( apart from later repairs ) maybe as they became more popular they had trouble keeping up with demand.....but I do have to delve into the door internals to make new window latching mechanisms so may find some treasures yet.

4mm screws. 4mm! How can you sleep at night man! My very hacked up original Riley guards also have an interesting folded/crimped joint on them where the top meets the side of the guards. I don't think I will try replicating that by hand but I will match the profile when I make the guards on mine. Hot melt glue works great for sticking down electronic gubbins. Then you can use isopropyl alcohol sprayed on it to get it to unstick later.

Ah being an electrical item it would have been BA, but as Gladstone has a Zenith carb which is all metric i think it will sneak under the radar.....nice to see you've bought a stationary engine for your retirement, i hope your good lady is as enthralled with the idea of sitting in a field with a flask next to a noisy engine to pass the time as Mrs Tweed is when i threaten to buy one 😀

Mr Tweed I enjoy your UA-cams v much, and, I am intending to find myself a Riley of some sort. I am, I think, located not too far from you (on the Surrey Hampshire border) and I wonder if you have access to a schedule of local car shows that I might attend. There have been shows within a reasonable distance from me that I have missed due to not hearing about them until after they are over. Thanks v much and best regards.

No it is negative earth ( probably converted sometime in its 95 year life ) but it wouldn't be an issue as the circuit board is contained within an insulated box and would be fine for powering phones, satnavs, dash cams etc
