Great update! I hope more folks will decide to become patrons of your channel. Definitely a worthwhile cause as you take such great care of your animals and are always happy to help your friends!
I’ve been watching your channel for about a year and you are one the channels that helped me build the confidence to quit my job and move to the countryside, so thanks! Your videos are pure joy x
That is awesome! Thank you so much Alex and i saw you started a channel too ❤️❤️❤️ I wish you all the success in the world , words of advice , UA-cam can be a hard place to get seen , don't give up and you will get there ❤️❤️❤️
With so much bad news around at the moment, it's a joy to see your beautiful new additions to your family ! Seeing your animals at play is wonderful, our beautiful dog always makes us laugh when he's playing . .. lovely video once again ❤x
I absolutely love my wicking bed, especially in Summer. I too live in a very hot climate and it is wonderful for growing leafy greens and cherry tomatoes for salads because the soil moisture level stays constant. I just top it up once a week, and Bob's your Aunty.
Maybe plant the zucchini in big partially buried bottomless recycled plastic pots, so if the voles strike their run will just hit the pot sides and the plant will put its roots deep below their run? The new piglets are cuties. I hope it heals the loss of Maggie & Rupert. x
Luke works on it when he gets a chance but we had family and friends visit , then rain and now a heatwave, think it might get cooler next week so happy days😁
WELCOME little boys Alfie and Eddie!! Already star pupils in Sarah's school of magical animal training 😁. There's an old saying I learned recently regarding the planting of tree saplings, "the first year they sleep, the second year they creep, and the third year they leap". Seems to be very true as I watch two that I've planted. I just love it when friends are thinning out their beds and share plants with me. My retirement income is rather meager so I'm always on the lookout for hardy, native plants to transplant and for all sorts of items to repurpose. The most coveted thing I look for is landscaping rock as I live in flat farmland with no natural rock. I do get so many great ideas and motivation from my youtube community 😊. Looking forward to next week!! Take care!! 🥰🌿♥️
Wow 2 new family members. Love to see you guys having a smile on your face and look Alfie and Eddy seems to be happy already. Watched shoe string video already and love the idea of using anything around to make use of it. My favourite part was tights to the rescue:)
Another awesome video❤So much is happening on your homestead, starting with Molly trying to qualify for the Euros😂 Congrats on your new additions to the family. Peppa will be very happy in a few months time😂 Good job on the fence Like, and your farden is looking fabulous, Sarah. The three sisters planting is such a good idea.
Picking up Alfie looked easier than last time 😅 the spekboom that Cindy gave you looks a very interesting plant 👍 your dentist-tree 🤪 is still doing well , but since I put in the ground... it's growing slower. I think it's putting his energy in building good roots now 💪 and welcome to the new family members 🐷🐷🥰
What a lovely gift from Cindy. I have a huge Spekboom bush in my garden. So easy to propagate. Enjoy. So excited for you both with your new member of the family, so cute. Much love, Jenny in Cape Town ❤😮
I am so happy for how far you two have come. I pray you will get more people to help out. I wish i could do more then just watching but can't afford it. I know it has been alot of hard work. You struggle in many ways that you may not mention. I will always pray for you & your friends.
Such a fasinating couple especially you Sarah! Im HOOKED on your channel!!!!!!!!!!I LOVE your gypsy home so quaint. Oh Sarah I see you wearing a CHANG Tshirt it's a beer from Thailand! Im a South African (Durban)but an English teacher teaching in Bangkok. Lots of love from Bangkok and keep the videos coming xxxx
Hi. Cindy's not quite accurate. The Spekboom [Portulacaria afra] (Spek being bacon & boom = tree, also called porkbush). It has higher than average CO2 scrubbing abillities, not really toxin absorber. It can grow to be a small tree, but actually is frost sensitive. Nearly lost one of mine winter before last.
Picked up on that South african accent immediately.. we grow spekboom too. Magic plant Love your show and animals. I have a wire hair terrier exactly like your Rupet ..❤🇿🇦
@lukeandsarahsoffgridl sorry, I meant Molly... such a beautiful dog.. It looks exactly like my wire hair terrier. I wonder then, if my dog has some Portuguese podengo in the mix..a born hunter
Sorry about Rupert… but any chickens which are un protected are fair game for foxes etc….etc… I mean, that rooster made me laugh….hanging around with a sow….pig.his best buddy. May he rest in peace in chicken heaven.
It's always so awesome to see you all. That Spekboom plant that you got from Cindy, is going to prove to be an invaluable plant on your farm. In South Africa almost every household has at least one. We propogate them and grow them everywhere. They do just as well inside too 😊
Congratulations on the new piggies! 🐷 💗 The info on the Spekboom is wonderful, I’m excited to grow it in my little urban farmstead in Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺
I am really looking forward to it getting bigger so i can propagate it and spread its magic around the land, someone on here who grows it as a business said it does not do well with frost so when young i will take it indoors in the winter just in case and see how it copes once bigger and established
Love the new piggy but still think the goats were better animals to have for your property they gave you milk and got rid of your weeds the pigs are more work and need to be fed more and fenced
Maybe but the goats were extremely hard work and we were not ready for them, they also needed stronger fencing and more of it , it it was also too much milk that we didn't need that much every single day and so much work to do anything with it and selling it is not really an option around here as it is too little money for so much work, they also destroyed every single tree that popped up on our land and our main goal is to regenerate our land , so for the moment and the purpose we got them for ...pigs are what we need 😁
Unrelated to this episode. So happy to find you all! You two are refreshing! Not to mention how much I miss that accent! Love it! I live in Washington. The one on the west coast. 🤣Somewhat of a Maltese void. Basically know most of the families. So proud of of you two going after your dreams! Prosit!
The new babies are adorable, Sarah you truly have a gift with the animals we should rename you the animal whisper .. what’s happening with the baby boar(they are huge) ? Do you think you will get stuck with them ? Great vlog as always 😘
We are going to keep them for now because they are really making a difference to the landscape and our pond, they are weened now so Peppa is not feeding them anymore and they are still easy to handle so if they become a problem we will just cross the bridge when we come to it.. We could not sell them like we did most of Maggies but someone is coming to pick up the boy wild boars in a few weeks time so we will have no unwanted pregnancies
Great video and I love all your animals ... very cute cat 😍 Where are you based? We moved to the Algarve from Scotland in 2021 and have just started a UA-cam channel. We focus on food ... gardening, cooking and restaurant reviews. (Check us out I would appreciate the sub ;-) ) How have you found the soil where you are? That has been my biggest challenge, I have been growing veggies and this is my second summer. The soil in our garden is terrible and full of clay. I have been adding tons of compost every year so I hope it will improve. I notice you use shade cloth, this is my next big project. Good luck with your channel and your many ongoing projects
Wait, did you get a new rooster, or did you already have a second one? Maybe I missed an explanation somewhere. In any case, it’s nice to hear the rooster crowing in the background. We lost our rooster to some mysterious ailment late last year, and I’ve missed his crowing ever since. ❤
Thank you so veery much Eileen❤️❤️ You have been such a huge support in every way , we really appreciate it so much. The part Luke ordered from China arrived a few weeks ago now for the digger but so much has been happening here and at Nicks that we have not had the chance to come together and try that new part out
Great update! I hope more folks will decide to become patrons of your channel. Definitely a worthwhile cause as you take such great care of your animals and are always happy to help your friends!
I hope so too! Thank you so much for all the support you have given us over the years❤️❤️❤️
Thank You for a lovely update 😊 .. What a fab welcome to the 2 new boys on the homestead 🐽🐽 ..
Our pleasure!
What an amazing plant Cindy gave you! Wow! Alfie and Eddie are just too cute! They seem very happy with you guys.. already ❤
It really is and once it is big enough I will propagate some for you if you want some 😁
I love the way the cat hides and frightens Molly on the way back home love your program from Lucy South Africa Durban
Yes Timmy just loves hiding for Molly and giving her frights were he thinks she least expects it but molly knows exactly where he is😅
I’ve been watching your channel for about a year and you are one the channels that helped me build the confidence to quit my job and move to the countryside, so thanks! Your videos are pure joy x

@@lukeandsarahsoffgridlife they are both blessed to have such a loving home with you guys!❤️
Next time throw a large towel over the chicken to make catching them easier. That’s what I do when my parrots get in the wrong area.❤
Thanks for the tip, much appreciated Elaine😁
Great video guys, loving the new additions❤
They are super cute❤️❤️
Your new arrivals are so cute! Well done on that fencing that is hard work! What's happening with your outdoor kitchen?

It looks similar but it isn't the same😁

Yep. I just grow them for a living in a region that gets both hoar frost & the occasional black frost.
@kvdw5375 we will take care of them and put them inside for the winter x xx thanks so much
Hello Luke and Sarah ❤ i had a gopher problem so i made big wooden boxes with chicken wire for a bottom and the gophers were no longer a problem 👍
