Being a Catholic country, praying before any activity is a common practice which started at home and in school.

The Philippines is actually a secular country! Yes, it's true that majority of Filipinos are Catholics but I don't think it's right to say that the Philippines is a Catholic country because we also have Muslims, Protestants, Buddhists & other religious sects here in the country. We even have atheists who don't believe in God! Freedom of religion is guaranteed in the Philippine Constitution. By the way, I am Catholic myself but I do recognize that the Philippines is a secular country!

I have gotten old of my frustrated dream of becoming a vlogger or photographer, because of the pandemic, hardheartedly, I need to sell my Nikon DSLR. Now I'm so sad and missing my camera. I just watch your videos to cheer myself up and my every day happy. I am getting older but I know I am getting older inspired by your kindness and love for the Philippines and the filipinos. Looks like a very nice golf course there and love the mountains in the background. I have been to the Philippines 3 times and the only time I ever saw Filipino's pray is before a meal or in church. Glad you enjoyed your ride on a nice sunny day. I would be doing that trip in a car. I never felt comfortable on a motorcycle and never really had any desire to have one but there are some awesome bikes around.
Nelly is right sometimes praying before an event , convention , seminars etc . It depends .
And it depends of what religion of group of people you're engaging in with
Why Iam so addicted watching this couple Mike & Nelly is that bcoz they became so Filipino at heart that they managed to embraced the Filipino culture and even learn to talk in tagalog and the best thing is that they keep on going to explore the beauty of the Philippines. Welcome back. I just recalled how you spent time in Siargao during the start of the pandemic and how you drove all the way back north. Then your "travel blocks" in South Africa and into Austria ..... Great to see you both back in the Philippines. Those are very nice bikes. I ride myself. I just get so frustrated with riders especially those with bikes that are allowed on the skyway when they jump the line of vehicles either entering the skyway / toll both or exiting it. This happens every day. And when I call them out on this bad behavior they get mad. I personally do not do that. When I see a line of vehicles patiently waiting for their turn I fall in line too with my motorbike. Hopefully these riders will change their ways.

Try a short 2-3 hour hike up to Mount Maculot on the east shore of Taal Lake or to Mount Batulao near Nasugbu, Batangas. First ask if the slopes are open for hiking. Bring a gourmet packed lunch and hire a guide for safety. You might be able to camp near the peak for an overnight stay with breakfast while the clouds are still low near the ground.
You both beautiful guys have to stay very very safe always! Be very safe, we or I don't want to miss your vlogs and your appreciation in life.

when hiking in the phils dont go by yourself. there are hiking persons you can hire that are skilled in the specific place, make sure to check in on the barangay within the locality to list your name for rescue purpose. dont go wandering away from the group.

Nelly, per your observation about Filipinos about prayer. I think that's why Filipinos are always in good spirit because there love for Christ, the joy comes out when there's contentment and peace in their hearts no matter the circumstances are. Happy is different from joy :) by the way, Mike's new bike is superb!!
It's truly a good Christian practice to always say a little prayer each day especially in the morning before starting on a task or say, at any event you'll be going to, and be grateful that you are being guided. Everything is grace!

We Filipinos always makes the sign of the cross. Rdminds me of an emergency in our hospital in Toronto. My co worker ( we are Filipinos) did the sign of the cross and rumour spread around that my co worker was " so scared" she started praying. Actually, I still curve the cross on my rice in the rice cooeer. Habit I guess since I've always seen it done since I was a child.

I would like to recommend that you visit our beautiful and famous town of Pagsanjan, Laguna well known for the Pagsanjan Falls. You will reach the falls by riding a banca where bankeros use their hands and feet to navigate the treacherous river and ride a wooden raft to go under the falls. Everybody say this is thrilling and exciting. Pagsanjan has a lot of very good hotels and restaurants and we are all very proud of them and I promise you will enjoy the food. The mountains in the background are Mt Manabu and Mt Malipunyo (same mountain range)... I guess you try to hike Mt Batulao first at Nasugbu near Tagaytay.

Nice to see you visiting Mt.Malarayat Golf & Country Club! You can do hiking around the area by going to Brgy.Talisay. The baranggay can help you & assist should you need a tour guide. It is best that you hike very early in the morning so can see the birds that are endemic to the area.

Hi Mike and Nelly. Yes, a lot of our beautiful scenic mountains are already open. Just make sure to contact the right person or the barangay itself for requirements as some require vaccination card and ID. Seldom now that they require med cert and pre-booked climb.
