A lot of the animations in this game come from Dream Team (Luigi’s thinking pose, the cheering animations, the level up animation for Luigi). When people say the Dream Team art style isn’t expressive, I just don’t get it. The ways the bros would cheer after performing successful attacks (both standard and Bros.) was incredibly charming, even if they did pad out the fights. I might be the only one who doesn’t mind the extra fluff from that game.
So far my only gripe is that outside of battle Luigi feels more like a Paper Mario partner rather than an equal. Superstar saga still handle that aspect the best in my opinion. Also the whole thing where you don’t menu with B for Luigi has caused me to mess up the action commands so much.
SAME muscle memory always gets me during the menus with luigi really wished theh didn’t change it on that note yeah i agree i don't like how automatic they made luigi in this the whole appeal of this series was controlling both brothers as one unit, but luigi feels more like a partner rather then the main character along with mairo if that makes sense
On one hand it's kind of a bummer you only really get to control Mario and not really Luigi, but on the other hand it makes it easier to have the Bros work together on everything. For example now you can have both bros smash crates or rocks together, while before, Mario would have to smash everything by himself while Luigi just waits behind him (roles can be reversed in Superstar Saga but it's still the same). So in the end, I don't see the new system as worse, just different. Same goes for using A for Luigi in the menu. It's only a problem for muscle memory, but objectively, new players won't have any problem with it, especially since you're going to use the A button during Luigi's attacks anyway because Mario participates.
@@miwestraveler3986it is more of a flow state kind of thing. When you menu with Mario with “A” you flow into the attack with “A” again then combo with Luigi then Mario again. Luigi is a bit awkward in that regard. You menu with the A button then you have to mentally switch to using the B button at the start of the attack. The transition from menu to attack is different for both bothers which is why it throws people off. If the flow between menu and attack was the same for both Brothers, it would not be an issue. It is a minor issue I grant you. It just takes a little bit to adjust to for old and new players. The core complaint is that a simple mechanic that was unique and stanard to the series has been adjusted slightly so it throws off the natural rhythm of the gameplay.
@@yaminogame I really don't think that's the case. You already alternate between A and B in every single attack in this game. It's only a problem if you played the older games, as your brain is used to go "single button mode" for solo attacks. Once you get out of that habit, there's no problem. Personally, I prefer the older way as I find it had more personality, though. My point is purely about functionality. Also I kinda miss jumping with the Bro that is waiting for his turn.
@@miwestraveler3986ok, but like in any m&l game you would press A for mario correct? so memory says you're gonna do a mario combo, except it's luigi's turn
I don’t understand what’s wrong with Luigi automatically jumping. Is it simply a matter of messing with muscle memory? It makes things easier imo, because I remember missing jumps with him and it would be annoying that I’d have to go down and jump all over again. It saves potential frustration. I will, admit, however, I did mess up a few inputs as a result of A being used for Luigi. It’s not as big a deal to me as it seems to be for others though.
tfw chuckle at the lengths to equalize levels when I didn't bother and at some really early point they equalized naturally and have leveled up at the same time all the way up to early 40s where I'm grinding right now. The classic B Menu stuff changing with Luigi did trip me up for quite awhile too. Aside from some enemies with annoying to dodge or counter patterns in combo with the tiny bit of delay (both in pressing it to dodge or counter something), combat has otherwise been fairly smooth, and the game overall has so much charm. Personally, I'm enjoying it a bunch. 🙂
For some reason, at least so far for me, Rumbla Island enemies were the only ones to ignore Luigi when starting battle. I got used to it and when I went to the next island and only dodged with Mario, Luigi got hit and battle started.
One of the only games that makes an RPG feel like a totally fun brawler. I love this series. But when will Wario and Waluigi appear in such a game? Or how about the brothers have sidekicks like goombas or koopas?
2:30:16 i did not expect... any of this entire scene, i am crying, BAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAH "I'LL SHOW YOU HOW TO RAP! BLEP, BLEP, DROPPING B*TCHES LEFT AND RIGHT!!!" *"LUIGI!!!!"* 2:27:52
Game looks so fun, I wish I could play it! The early trailers did not excite me as much as I would have liked, but seeing it in action has me impressed.
I feel like they tried to streamline stuff that was a flagship design of the series and lost the plot/point of said decisions. Small little details that made these Mario and Luigi games FEEL like Mario AND Luigi
1:16 doesn't matter if luigi is in danger he still has time to style on bees

I think its because dream team had this weird blur effect on everything that made everything look blended into each other.
Fun fact, the sibling you find first will be the merchant for the entire playthrough. I found Billdit first, and he’s my hammer merchant.

"Yeah its been ten minutes and you havent insulted me!"
Lol too real
This game is fun and amazing, I think people complain too much or they don't have patience

IM SO EXCITED FOR THIS! LOVE YOU SCOTT!
Yours is my favorite playthrough i've watched so far! You have so much genuine enjoyment of the game and the little details they put in 😁
Luigi getting vaporised in the wormhole tunnel reminds me of that one regular show episode where rigby dies

The only 5 Brothership is is a 5 out of 5.
They have the touch they have the power
54:05 somehow the most sexually charged mmph I've ever heard

49:12 but what is the employment rate on wumbla island?
Edit: i dont want to comment twice so: Wario&Waluigi, partners and dimes.
Game looks so fun, I wish I could play it!

Yeah they didn’t show too much gameplay but now that we can play it it’s pretty good!
If you are impressed you will probably like it! I recommend it if you are ever able to get it one day
I'm having a blast and there's plenty of twists and turns in the story
They should remake Partners in Time in this style!!!
THATS WHAT I THOUGHT YESSSS
i would love faithful remakes of those games in this style, i hate the 3ds remakes because they took away the funny sprites from superstar saga
And then a red Toad shows up and says "Ayooo!" When the other Toad pulls down his pants.
I can’t believe Mario got Mother 3 Chapter 6
never thought I'd hear 'mario' 'luigi' and 'ship' so close together in a game made by nintendo
(im joking please don't execute me)
Off with your head
@tristenj1992 I only said it cuz ign rated the last game higher than this and it was a gay slobfest
Just got to the darkest part of the story. oh boy
I feel like they tried to streamline stuff that was a flagship design of the series and lost the plot/point of said decisions. Small little details that made these Mario and Luigi games FEEL like Mario AND Luigi
Rip scott
Paper!!!
Luigi disrespect it's no more
Wait does scott not use his vtuber anymore?
w gameplay
You talk shit on paper jam, but that's the best game paper mario has gotten in decades, even if it's the worst mario and luigi title
Whats Paper Jam? I don’t think a game like that has ever come out?
