One thing that stuck out to me is that Mario and Luigi's ideal world is one where Bowser is an ally. Really shows that despite being enemies they do respect eachother.
I think Reclusa's battle being so simplistic is kind of on purpose. He's not a scheming mastermind like Cackletta or Elder Princess Shroob, nor does he think to share his power between bodies like the Dark Star. He's a petulant childlike abomination throwing a tantrum because he can't have his way, and the Weeping Core phase is something he makes up on the fly to buy himself time. He's never had to fight seriously because no one could resist his illusions, so he doesn't have a lot of distinct moves and mostly just throws his power around.
Additionally, what Reclusa lacks in complexity, he makes up for in variance-the final showdown with him has FOUR distinct phases, and each one throws something different at you-first you chase him down on the giant plug and beat him up in his normal form, then he possesses the entire Soli-Tree and becomes Weeping Reclusa and you have to rescue Snoutlet from his Doom Blooms before climbing up Weeping Reclusa, *then* you go inside the tree and fight the Weeping Core which can guard itself from your Bros Attacks after you’ve used them twice, and THEN you fight Reclusa himself one last time where he throws everything he’s got at you in the form of super fast and hard-hitting attacks. And after all that there’s an additional final sequence where you hammer him into oblivion while plunging from the top of the Soli-Tree. Compare that with the final battles of the previous ML games which were not nearly as big and epic in scope and structure-Dreamy Bowser is just a single-phase fight, and all the other final bosses only have two distinct phases-Bowletta followed by Cackletta’s Soul, Elder Princess Shroob’s first and second forms, Dark Bowser followed by the Dark Star Core, and the dual Bowsers followed by Shiny Robo-Bowser.

My honest review of the whole thing is a single sentence: My first playthrough took more than 50 hours, and it couldn't always sustain that, but I want to play it again.

Called “Mario and Luigi Brotherhood!” A Direct sequel to this Game
@@greenstarlover1maybe where he saves you from the incoming wave of enemies is where you can get his bond, that would be a pretty decent way to get it if they added it in
The most unsettling part of the game was the Real villain showed up in the egg. But the Creepy part was the people of Concordia and the Toads was trapped inside these Villy of the Valley VR-like Helmet, also the last level Mario and Luigi was almost confronting the Final boss but also got trapped by the Helmet too in a Mushroom Kingdom VR prison.
The most unsettling part for me. Is realizing that Reclusa is a cycle. Yet we don't know much about them. The only lore drop we get is when shun overheard a conversation from Zokket. Why is it unsettling? Because I think no one knows about Reclusa, because no one was left alive to tell the tale of what happened.
So I did guess who Zokket was, kinda early too, but the only reason I did was because it's mario, Cozette wasn't going to be dead and the next potentially important plot twist became my guess
If you were really paying attention to the dialogue you could've already known about cozette being zokket. If I remember correctly it was when zokket was talking with connie under the uni tree (around that moment)
@@RetroLiminal99444I really enjoy the Phase 3 theme. I feel the 3DS remake of Cackletta's Soul isn't as good as the original GBA version as the sound font almost gives it a 'electric guitar' feel with the low sound effects. 3DS version isn't bad, but kind of like the original version. For me, the other phases feel very slow and not as much energy as Cackletta's Soul theme. Not bad, though, and Phase 3 is very nice. I hope we get another Mario and Luigi game.
Ohms (pronounced Ooh-ms) Are a unit of measurement to measurement how much eletrical resistance there is in a current. So I imagine golm enemies are based off that, because of how much this game loves eletrical puns
I'm placing Brothership's ending second in place, just behind Bowser's Inside Story's ending. If it weren't for the length of the bond energy section, it would easily be #1. Acquire did a magnificent job.
@@MythiqueDash its kinda the same the two main villians kinda kill themselves for their plans to succed with fawful killing himself for a last ditch effort to kill everyone inside of bowser and zokket gives the last of his power to revive reclusa.
As someone who did a beanless wear-less level 40 playthrough i actually really liked the final boss. The scans in phase 1 make him guard against that attack for the rest of the fight. So you have to kill it as fast as possible or risk bros attacks being basically useless for phase 2. It feels super rewarding to finally learn the timing for the rolling ball attack and get some mega counters in on it, saving me from potentially using a bros attack or two, allowing me to use Conductor Connector at full effectiveness in phase 2
When I saw that the Weeping Core was analyzing my attacks, I had flashbacks to the first time I fought Bowser X. Horror. Chaos. Fear. I immediately began kicking shells at the core.
The ending brought me back to Naruto Shippuden with the Infinite Tsukuyomi and being trapped in that genjutsu. When Technikki was captured and started talking like she did, I’m like “This is straight up Naruto.”
I enjoyed Reclusa. That was an antagonist who really tried to pull out all the stops. Gotta point out, Zokket didn't exactly forget character names necessarily. When on his own, he does seem to remember the Extension Corps names. He just does that to tick them off if I'm not mistaken.
So about the Weeping core phase, this phase is basic. Once you use the same attack twice, bros or standard, he will take no more damage for that attack. Its basically stopping you from spamming the same powerful bros attack over and over again.
Reclusa also guards some attacks in his last phase, I don't think it's the Core data carrying over but Im not exactly sure what it is cause it happened differently each time I think.
Reclusa is essentially just Flowey from Undertale, the meta twist was awesome, and its representation of a modern theme of tech and isolation was surprisingly deep. Zokket’s twist was very obvious, and the bond arc was a bit of a drag.
I know the last battle wasn't mechanically and musically awesome as the past installments but maybe JUST MAYBE we're losing the main point of Reclusa/Ysoleth theme Cackletta had Fawful and ultimately used Bowser's body to achieve her goal and you kinda fight both in the end. The shroob queen fought the brothers alongside her shroob ufos on the final battle Dark bowser/Star had Fawful too fighting alonside them Antasma and Bowser teamed up and while Bowser ultimately deceived Antasma, he didn't fight alone as he dreamed his loyal troops to fight with him. Finally Bowser and paper bowser also fought togheter, but Reclusa/Ysoleth... He was all alone He had no one to help him, he didn't want to, he was frightfully powerful and he would use that power to isolate everyone else by his own means and in contrast Mario&Luigi were with Snoutlet and also the power of the other charcaters powering them up. Thinking about this, the final battle is genius
The scanning basically means that when you use a normal attack like jump or hammer two times, reclusa makes finishes analyzing it and forms a shield to protect itself
If you use the same Bros Attacks on Reclusa and he doesn’t die, that scanning thing he does comes into effect. Once he’s fully scanned an attack it is going to to far less damage, and it carries into both subsequent phases as well
I love how he is the oppposite of Zokket, while Zokket has minimal motivation or emotions, Reclusa is motivated by isolating everyone in a blissful construct and is constantly gleeful and chaotic in that fact, making him being the true villain work well especially with how it gave us the chaotic villain after having mostly humorous or simple emotionally villains.
Yeah the design is cool, but personnally I think his design looks too much like the other characters in the game. It's implied in like, two sentences in the entire game, that he's not from this world, so I think giving him a design that looked like nothing we saw would have been better (and they kind of did this with the tv face)
I know it was partly due to the fact I was a bit overleveled, but I’d say the final gauntlet against Reclusa was kinda underwhelming. Each phase had so little health that I could beat them all in 2-4 Bros Attacks. I get that’s to compensate for the fact that there’s so many distinct phases, but it just felt underwhelming because I barely got to see what he could do during each phase because of how fast I could blitz him down.
@@danielgomez-om9zdDamn, I was level 47 and I was barely doing more than 600 of damage per bros attack on the final phase (except for the final Mario's attack)
I can't belive they didn't add a boss fight mode at the end of the game like paper jam. Almost all of the boss fights where easy for me, specially because I had the best equipement and was maybe a bit overleveled.
I give it a 9.5/10 I really believe the series has been revived and the last scene in the credits state that new adventures are just a few years away from being reality Awesome game, worth the preorder time and cost
You know between Totk and Brothership Nintendo has been on a roll with games that have a theme of forging severed bonds and in a post covid world that's something we really need.
I'd say Brothership does a significantly better job at that than TOTK. Brothership showed us it's stakes and made characters to care about. Totk kinda failed in that imo
Reclusa had several phases before you could defeat him what are you talking about? Chasing him to use the bond bomb to deal some damage, the tree, the core, then reclusa TWICE! I think that’s plenty of phases already.
The hardest part of the final fight was going up the tree I couldn't get all the way up and had to do the whole doom bloom fight again for 2 hours straight the Lights of the tree made it hard to see the fire/ice attacks and I had to worry about the other obstacles on top of it nor was I overpowered for this making so much harder
I feel that in a future Mario and Luigi game, we may see some cameos from the friends we made in Concordia as the Mushroom Kingdom has a Unity Tree. Or maybe even visit the rebuild Concordia.
I love that you brought up the Extension Corps moment when Ecks didn't wash his hands and Ten made Shun switch places. That was one of the few jokes in the game that actually made me laugh.
weird to me people thought cozette was zokket based on their height i dont how how you would look at zokket and immediatley see that him and cozette had the same height.
Ehh i didn’t see it coming either but in hindsight it’s pretty obvious lol just switch the consonant sounds around in “Cozzete” and change up the “o” sound a bit and it becomes “Zokket” but like i just never thought that the wire thing on both their heads would be relevant, probably because Zokket is 3x the size of Cozzete so I never considered them being the same person
Weeping Core scanning means if it’s gonna take half the damage and if it’s complete it will negate those attacks and pretty sure it carries over to Reclusa too
If the remade the Entire Series for the Switch 2 with this Art Style while modifying the Giant and Papercraft Battles to work Traditionally then It would be a Day 1 Buy of all of them.

3:12 I think there were multiple ways for tackle it. The invincibility plug definitely seemed like the obvious choice. I thought about using the plug fo keep you at 1 hp after a hit, but I figured that if the blast did enough damage, the second or third blast would bypass that plug. But what I personally ended up doing was using a Boo Biscuit to see if it would work, as either the first or second time, ans the last time, I would use it in game. And it totally worked, much to my own amusement. With how handholdy the series can be, I appreciate that Snoutlet didn’t pop out to tell me exactly what to do and let me figure things out on my own.
For a first game from a new company taking on the legacy of a great game series, Acquire came out swinging and really did this series justice for taking up the big mantel Alphadream left behind. It was rough around the edges but all in all they smashed it out of the park with new charming characters, unique situations, references a plenty, and a great story all in all. Here's to hoping that if Nintendo decides to greenlight another M&L game, it'll be just as grand as this adventure along with learning from some light criticism along the way.
15:00 the mechanic with the core is that once you use a bros attack or A NORMAL HAMMER ATTACK twice It will be useless to use It cause It will deal minimal damage almost. You have to keep changing bros attacks to beat it
4:35 i thinks its more, so they just dont care enough to use the correct name. They're so focused on their goal and thinking everyone is beneath them, so they dont even bother
I knew that zokket couldnt be the final boss once i managed to best him using only hammer and jump attacks that were admittedly greatly augmented by plugs.
The next Mario and Luigi game should be a crossover with Sonic. Concept title: Mario & Luigi: Worlds Collide The Villains would be Eggman and Bowser working together but they plan to betray the other after they take out their enemies.
3:42 glohm sharpcask is truly the hardest boss in the game, this friggin boss broke me twice and nearly made me go insane do NOT fight this boss unless you wanna go mentally insane
You know what do both this game and people have in common, it is that you cannot let anybody's judgement cloud your thought of what you will do with any of them... HEARD THAT ALREADY?! SORRY!!
14:35 basically for example if you use the green shell multiple times on recruiter nous once he would completely scanned and make a force field that will leave him immune to the green shell basically being green shell proof the bros attack would not hurt the dude. And the strategy is to use different Bros.attacks to attack the guy so he wouldn’t get a full scan and become attack proof you keep using the same attack again he will just become immune to that
the weeping core's scan was its way to "counter" the bros attack, everytime you used it after it completed its scan reclusa would essentially guard against the attacks for the rest of the fight and the attacks would be virtually useless.
I loved this game. I love the direction in story they took. I feel like this new developer will soon hit its own stride soon and I can’t wait to play it!
Had read up on the weeping core: you basically can't hit for hard damage with the same bro's moves more than twice. Once Weeping core says "Analysis complete of-" said bro's move, any further usage of that scanned move will deal reduced damage as the core will guard against that attack. I hadn't known this when i battled the core, but when i seen the text saying it was scanning my bro's moves, i had the wiggens that something negative for me would happen if it successfully scanned the move, so i just used each bro's move only once, in a "disturb it's scan and keep it from scanning my moves" kind of thing until i broke the core. When i read it; found the effect wasn't as bad as i originally feared, but was still justified in making sure i didn't repeat usage on a specific bro's move, as the reduce damage would still be a pain to deal with.
14:47 if you use the same attack twice i think reclusa is immune to it (or just takes very little damage from it) for the rest of the fight (not just the phase, the rest of the fight)
For me I think I was a little too overleveled so the final bosses were pretty easy for me which was kinda sad but I still loved the fights (also those flowers that force people to dream are terrifying and I never expected it but I love it) Also the thing you said about the weeping core was exactly what happened to me I thought he was gonna use our bros attacks on us but I guess I beat him too quickly (Same with the final Reclusa boss too)
It's name is Reclusa? In Spanish they call it Ysoleth. Fits them way better. Edit: Reclusa's scan is to shield from Bro's attacks, so they deal less Damage to him.
I believe it's g Gl Oh M because when you fight glohm gorumbla Wilma says "I don't care if your glohmin or foaming or what" which makes me believe that glohm rhymes with foam
As a person who still didn’t even get Brothership and saw the thumbnail, I want to thank you for putting this photo thing from ending at the thumbnail instead of just putting another photo about game which has nothing about ending.☠️
The final part of the mushroom kingdom section where the bros run across a dark room with a red carpet and talk to fake peach reminded me of that one section in og paper mario where a dooplighost disguises itself as peach. I wish it was foreshadowing for a paper mario remake 😢
I used a boo biscuit in the last phase of the extention corps fight, which protected me from the explosion. Not sure if that was intentional or an oversight but it worked.

Brothership is a flawed game that simultaneously made me want less and more from it, but the stuff it did well it did so well and with such sincerity that I can't help but love it deeply. My honest review of the whole thing is a single sentence: My first playthrough took more than 50 hours, and it couldn't always sustain that, but I want to play it again.
14:36 This could be Reclusa's way of showing "You know your precious Bros Attacks? Well, look! I can do them all by myself! And you can too!"
deranged love child of Omega Flowey and Jevel casting Infinite Tsukuyomi was definitely not on my Bingo card for this game.
i never expected nintendo to pull a mario horror game moment. the peach corridor remind me of b3313
Does the corridor actually have insta-game over moments as I initially thought?

I just imagined Assassin's Creed, but with the Mario cast.
Not using Bowser's bond with his minions was a wasted opportunity. Personally, I think he could definitely replace the dancing guys.
Or Bowser and Jr I actually thought that was gonna happen😭
Not sure about the replacement, but yeah, not using Bowser's bond was a wasted opportunity.
@@greenstarlover1maybe where he saves you from the incoming wave of enemies is where you can get his bond, that would be a pretty decent way to get it if they added it in
@@VXXIE-r7lonly problem with that is that he saves you in the solitree, and you need to collect all the bonds to get in there in the first place

Same thing for me too
Also didn’t help that just switching the z and c sounds in their name gets you the other one
If you were really paying attention to the dialogue you could've already known about cozette being zokket. If I remember correctly it was when zokket was talking with connie under the uni tree (around that moment)
@Dunc64BS Yeah, that was a hint, but it also happens at the same time as the reveal.
Same for me, I had a small feeling Zokket was actually Cozette
I used the boo biscuit to avoid the insta kill which I do like how they give you multiple options to avoid it while still making it devastating.
The finale boss feels like a Kirby finale boss
I personally really enjoyed the final boss theme especially the last phase theme it fits so well with what’s going on in the fight
Me too!
finally someone else that likes it..
I love it too. I like this theme more than Cackletta and Princess Shroob theme.
@ agreed this theme gives me chills
@@mallowfan22 i love how the endings are similar
they did a great job
I knew Zokket was gonna be Cozette as early as the colorful sea. It wasn’t overly obvious, but it’s a cliche at this point. ☠️
As someone who's yet to play the game, that first sentence makes you sound schizophrenic.
It probably wouldn't have been too obvious it their names weren't too similar and opposite (I mean Cozette-Zokket... you see what I mean).
@@grayfox4819the fact that I never put that together....
Called it the moment I saw cozette
It just couldn’t be anyone else so it was obviously her imo
Remember when ign told us this was a bad game. That was a very funny joke
I know the last battle wasn't mechanically and musically awesome as the past installments but maybe JUST MAYBE we're losing the main point of Reclusa/Ysoleth theme
Cackletta had Fawful and ultimately used Bowser's body to achieve her goal and you kinda fight both in the end.
The shroob queen fought the brothers alongside her shroob ufos on the final battle
Dark bowser/Star had Fawful too fighting alonside them
Antasma and Bowser teamed up and while Bowser ultimately deceived Antasma, he didn't fight alone as he dreamed his loyal troops to fight with him.
Finally Bowser and paper bowser also fought togheter, but Reclusa/Ysoleth... He was all alone
He had no one to help him, he didn't want to, he was frightfully powerful and he would use that power to isolate everyone else by his own means and in contrast Mario&Luigi were with Snoutlet and also the power of the other charcaters powering them up.
Once he’s fully scanned an attack it is going to to far less damage, and it carries into both subsequent phases as well
Recluse is definitely my favorite Mario and Luigi final boss, but not my favorite final boss music.
Yeah I got to agree not a banger like In the Final
Mario and Luigi doing Omnislash with hammers in the final stage of the Reculas battle was sick
Reclusa has to be one of my favorite character designs and personality
I get that’s to compensate for the fact that there’s so many distinct phases, but it just felt underwhelming because I barely got to see what he could do during each phase because of how fast I could blitz him down.
me too and I was two or three levels under Reclusa
Which level were you?
@GabrielLANSALOT-CARON like 42
@@danielgomez-om9zdDamn, I was level 47 and I was barely doing more than 600 of damage per bros attack on the final phase (except for the final Mario's attack)
I love how Bowser is seen as and is an actual threat to the mario bros in this game
Yeah its cool that he gets to be as much of a threat as he is when he's the villain without being the main villain
He's been that way since Dream Team
Probably because he became a more competent villain in Bowser's Inside Story
He sees the bros and he’s ON SIGHT! I love how he drops everything just to say “Hey boys over here. Shoot Mario and Luigi!”
@@infinityheart_tm9270 He was literally in the middle of a war and still wanted to kill Mario and Luigi
14:53 if you use the same bros attack two times it will stop working.
You could have used a boo biscuit to avoid the extension corps finisher.
I did that even after getting protectus. I only used that plug for the mutant bobomb fight.
The only time Boo Biscuits are useful lol
I can't belive they didn't add a boss fight mode at the end of the game like paper jam. Almost all of the boss fights where easy for me, specially because I had the best equipement and was maybe a bit overleveled.
I give it a 9.5/10
I really believe the series has been revived and the last scene in the credits state that new adventures are just a few years away from being reality
Awesome game, worth the preorder time and cost
You know between Totk and Brothership Nintendo has been on a roll with games that have a theme of forging severed bonds and in a post covid world that's something we really need.
I'd say Brothership does a significantly better job at that than TOTK. Brothership showed us it's stakes and made characters to care about. Totk kinda failed in that imo
15:23 the quest where you need to do that same thing a bit earlier in the story before heading to the soli-tree might have been a subtle hint
Reclusa had several phases before you could defeat him what are you talking about? Chasing him to use the bond bomb to deal some damage, the tree, the core, then reclusa TWICE! I think that’s plenty of phases already.
Reclusa is a Kirby boss but in Mario
The hardest part of the final fight was going up the tree I couldn't get all the way up and had to do the whole doom bloom fight again for 2 hours straight the Lights of the tree made it hard to see the fire/ice attacks and I had to worry about the other obstacles on top of it nor was I overpowered for this making so much harder
Yeah the projectiles blend in too much, my strategy was just spam A and B and focus on avoiding the plants since there's no consequence for spamming
I don’t know if anyone else has noticed this, but the Mushroom Kingdom in the intro and ending cutscenes is the same exact one from Odyssey.
I can confirm I am the other guy who did not see Cozette being Zokket twist coming
Me too but i was too busy playing the game to notice
weird to me people thought cozette was zokket based on their height i dont how how you would look at zokket and immediatley see that him and cozette had the same height.
I also didn't see it coming. I wasn't distracted or anything I just genuinely didn't see it coming
Ehh i didn’t see it coming either but in hindsight it’s pretty obvious lol just switch the consonant sounds around in “Cozzete” and change up the “o” sound a bit and it becomes “Zokket” but like i just never thought that the wire thing on both their heads would be relevant, probably because Zokket is 3x the size of Cozzete so I never considered them being the same person
didint see it coming but was fun to see
Weeping Core scanning means if it’s gonna take half the damage and if it’s complete it will negate those attacks and pretty sure it carries over to Reclusa too
I hope we get another new Mario & Luigi game for the new console, and maybe a classic-style Paper Mario game.
If the remade the Entire Series for the Switch 2 with this Art Style while modifying the Giant and Papercraft Battles to work Traditionally then It would be a Day 1 Buy of all of them.
probably not 60k equates to flop and no ign had nothing to do with it
@@crowmaster9652 Not necessarily, It's the big Mario game for the holiday season and it's already on sale in some countries. That's a good time if any for it to get a boost

The game has issues that are very obvious
The final area and reclusa literally reminded me of undertale and deltarune Cozette/Zokket reminded me of asriel/Raseli and recluse reminded me of Flowey.
The scanning means he takes less damage from that special attack you used against it
No but like i personally enjoy the final phase theme of reclusa, bravo Vince Gilligan
When it scans attacks it learns the attacks and gains a guard against that attack for the rest of the fight, even after you break the weeping core
Kirby villain Agent Smith was a lit final boss
The character bio on the website says they have a foggy memory. Probably because she was under control
I knew that zokket couldnt be the final boss once i managed to best him using only hammer and jump attacks that were admittedly greatly augmented by plugs.
And the music theme was the Standard boss music
The next Mario and Luigi game should be a crossover with Sonic.
Concept title: Mario & Luigi: Worlds Collide
The Villains would be Eggman and Bowser working together but they plan to betray the other after they take out their enemies.
3:42 glohm sharpcask is truly the hardest boss in the game, this friggin boss broke me twice and nearly made me go insane
do NOT fight this boss unless you wanna go mentally insane
For Reclusa phase 3 you were just overpowered, the melee attack Reclusa had with 2-5 hits would kill u like u did in the video.
You know what do both this game and people have in common, it is that you cannot let anybody's judgement cloud your thought of what you will do with any of them...
HEARD THAT ALREADY?! SORRY!!
Reclusa is called Amperfide in the German version, it's such a cool name
Reclusa is a 5 Phase gauntlet. He's hard enough as is.
I have never cried harder at a game ending, good lord
The scan makes it take less damage from that attack - your welcome
One staple i liked seeing return was powering/constructing a magical being or object to break through a barrier established around the enemy castle.
Protip on replays of this game:
Pop a Boo Biscuit right before the Extension Corps blows up. It is unbelievably broken.
14:35 basically for example if you use the green shell multiple times on recruiter nous once he would completely scanned and make a force field that will leave him immune to the green shell basically being green shell proof the bros attack would not hurt the dude. And the strategy is to use different Bros.attacks to attack the guy so he wouldn’t get a full scan and become attack proof you keep using the same attack again he will just become immune to that
Green Shell is useless against his final phase anyways because Reclusa floats, so you can easily sacrifice that one and Clockout Blow.
the weeping core's scan was its way to "counter" the bros attack, everytime you used it after it completed its scan reclusa would essentially guard against the attacks for the rest of the fight and the attacks would be virtually useless.
The point of the Weeping core was that if use used an attack twice, it was create a guard against it
18:57 Cool high quality rip you got there
5:36 this reminds me of the "infinite tsukuyomi" that Madara used!😈🤣
I loved this game.
When Reclusa scan the Bros Attack, he become extremely resistant to this attack.
14:47 if you use the same attack twice i think reclusa is immune to it (or just takes very little damage from it) for the rest of the fight (not just the phase, the rest of the fight)
I wish I could buy a plushy. Your challenge is amazing. But right now all my money is tight in Christmas shopping.
When Reclusa went into the SoliTree and it started moving I actually said out loud
“Oh my god its Whispy Woods”
14:37 it is to add extra protection against the bros. attack
I believe it's g
Gl Oh M because when you fight glohm gorumbla Wilma says "I don't care if your glohmin or foaming or what" which makes me believe that glohm rhymes with foam
3:21 you could use the boo biscuit to take 0 damage from that final blow
