@@marsdriver2501 CAS is something you can mitigate where as WoT arty is something you have to CONSTANTLY and ALWAYS deal with knowing it can and will kill you. CAS on the other hand is something that can be avoided by using smokescreens, nearby terrain/buildings, camoflouge(bushes and foliage), and simply paying attention. Lastly another thing that makes arty in WoT worse is the fact WoT isn't a garage based game where you can play multiple tanks. If arty kills you in WoT its far more annoying and painful because you have only one life. In War Thunder if CAS kills you its a slight annoyance before you jump in another tank if given that you have another spawn left.
@@_gungrave_6802also CAS can be easily shot down by allied fighters. I am the type of player that goes to ground RB mostly to fly my planes without boring 5 mins of climbing. And I usually take a fighter that can somewhat hit the ground targets. Recently I was using A6M6 with rockets.

@@kylestanley7843 In fairness, there are a crapload of cheaters and they play a lot of games. If there are 24 people in a game and 2% of playtime is from cheaters, every other game has a cheater on average, all other things equal. That's not a fun experience and it isn't rare.

What gaijin needs to do: 1. Add drones to Self Propelled Howitzers 2. Add ways to measure distance from your position to any point of the map. 3. Make maps larger for said Self Propelled Howitzers
One problem, if you were busy flying your drone and the enemy drone saw your artillery tank just sitting around, the enemy player is gonna hop on his artillery tank and one shot you.
squad up with someone. one guy brings a drone, you and potentially the third guy bring artillery and shoot. guy on the drone just says drop/add and the distance "drop 100m". guy on drone is the observer, thats literally how its done irl. it will also be more efficient and less work because the shooters only focus on shooting and the observer only focuses on spotting. also if you have 2 shooters with something like an m109 you could stagger fire to double the fire rate and zero in the range much quicker
omg this game looks so amazing but since its such a time sink to get any progress its not even worth starting at this point :I (also sank way too many hours into wot, my acc has over 10 years....)
How do you make your range estimates? My friend and I do this but we use triangles and the grid square lengths to estimate distances which works but takes a lot longer than what you're doing.

Aiming in war thunder is really something to me. I've been trying but also slower than enemy. I dont know how they could have such an accurate aim at long range. (Noob level)

do this in a squad of 3 wit one guy on permanent drone duty. would be much more efficient so you could shoot at the full fire rate, also gives you more options for what guns you can use since you only need the 1 vehicle to have a drone
use things you know like your distance from the A point like this video, ir you can calculate it using grid squares but idk how to. I think 1 grid square side is 100 meter, don't quote me on that tho

The problem with howitzers would be the firing arc. Since they have a very long range you'd need a new way to calculate the indirect fire.

Minimap grid square size is shown on the bottom left of it, and the markers show up ob the map as well
