Paradiddles along with other rudiments add so much to kit grooves and fills. I learned most of the rudiments in my teens playing snare in a drum corps. It wasn’t until I was in my 40s (longer time ago than I care to reveal) how useful they are on a kit. You are a terrific instructor. Wish you and UA-cam had been around in my 20’s and 30’s when I was simply playing eighth note rock beats and swing beats on the kit. Keep up the work sharing great drumming techniques along with your brilliant sense of humor with the rest of the world.
Great as always! Bonus gem, you can clearly see how see holds the drumsticks and how she controls them. For me, it was very helpful, yes, I'm a beginner.
Thank you for this awesome lesson and especially for explaining where to to put the heavy snare hit, kick drum, and ghost notes. This totally explains why my paradiddles just sound muddled and globbed together. I can't wait to go home and practice it. cheers!
She is 100% correct. A little advice, start slow playing all four strokes. (R-L-R-R, L-R-L-L). Relax and repeat for several minutes without speeding up. Get so comfortable with them and recite something that you 100% know, like your address. When you see that you can keep the sticking pattern intact without thinking about it, then you can start accelerating. A good teacher can show you how to go from 4 strokes to 3, then eventually ONE.
Yes! Another guitarist/keyboardist checking out the drum techniques and grooves. Really like your teaching style, a few more weeks and i'm going to take a lesson. What I've seen so far has already helped. Thanks!
Two great examples of paradiddle grooves/beats to check out : Ian Paice (Deep Purple) "You fool no one" and Neil Peart (Rush) a para-paradiddle in the middle section of "Free Will"
This is so badass! Thanks so much! I'm a guitarist first. Then a pianist. Now I'm trying drums and really struggling. You've helped speed up my learning process so much! ❤ Merry Christmas! 🎄
Wait WTF, where did the 2E come from? I get 1 and 2 and ect, but 2E😮. I decided to learn drums 6 months ago ( aged 59 ), just learning to do fills, and this is great, BIG THANKS.
Oh shit........i did this groove by accident before!!!!! 😮😮😮😮 Unironically. I didn't realize it. Splitting the Paradiddle between the snare and kick was something I did consciously tho.
Fantastic tutorials... You deliver your videos with a 'can do' approach... Could you tell me what sticks you use and do you maintain that a heavier stick are better particularly when playing doubles,.yours sound beautiful.... Mine suck 😔😏
Paradiddles = freeeedommm to move hands about the kit as the 'spirit moves meeee!' I love your lessons! Keeping this old guy interested in sharpening those old (quickly-fading) skills of youth! haha. Thanks for sharing.
Ok I’m a guitarist ..shock Horror! But I had drum lessons for 2 years Firstly I recommend ANY musician to get drum lessons It gives you such an improved perspective in the placement of accents for every instrument and how simple motifs can produce incredible results at different speeds with different accents Second . Love your teaching style ,, needless to say I’m Back on my kit cursing for 3 years no practice 😂😂😂😂 Thank you
Gotta disagree. Drums is a very unusual instrument where you can develop without any instruction at all. If you just read the George Stone book and apply that everywhere you can you will find all the grooves you need. It’s very time consuming but that’s drums.
I mostly play paradiddles on grooves, and not much on fills, and I think it's weird. I found out your videos, and I really enjoy them. Why don't you give your own name for the channel, I wonder? Keep up your good work! Thanks for the lesson!
Thank you for watching! Love To Learn Drums is the drum department for Alpyne Music - I teach online lessons and host my membership on the Alpyne Music website 😊 You can learn more here: www.alpynehq.com/sounds-like-emma-membership I do have my own channel called Sounds Like Emma!
I love the way you teach drumming, and I am also subscribed to your UA-cam channel, BTW, do you use the Roland eDrum,. If you don't mind, what model is it? I have Roland TD25K, it doesn't sound as good as yours, thanks, and happy drumming
Please play Sunflower ( the great steve white, PW ) it just stumps me , iam reading it from notes and i suck at it any help . Yes i can play paradiddles ect. when it come to trying to learn a new song from notes it goes bell up , i can wing it . all the best Jeremy
Careful now, all you new folks - if you start infusing your playing with paradiddles, you might end up addicted. You could spend the next thirty-odd years playing stuff that sounds kind of paradiddly whenever you sit down to play. I mean...er...maybe. So they tell me. Not that I, er, no, not me...
Finally a female drummer shows how to teach music effectively, with a style utterly bereft of irrelevant piffle and trifling minutiae - She delivers the nitty gritty of drum kit playing in a clipped, humorous fashion which really does make percussion education a whole lot of fun...

Love all your videos. I can’t help smiling every time I watch. 😁
You are awesome 🤩
That groove sounds awesome! I'm shocked I haven't seen or heard it before. Thank you!
1:03... _I'm not your mom, you can do what you want,_ lmao.

One of the best grooves that I ever heard a drummer play in my band was with a paradiddle involving a cowbell... sick!
Thank you so much!
She has some clever chops!
Rather devious and mischievous, if you would. 😈
Thank you for this awesome lesson and especially for explaining where to to put the heavy snare hit, kick drum, and ghost notes. This totally explains why my paradiddles just sound muddled and globbed together. I can't wait to go home and practice it. cheers!
That is pretty cool. I’m new to drumming and my paradiddles suck at the moment. This will give me a new way to practice them. Thanks!

There are no old drummer's! Just sayin! 🙂
You're never too old to drum! I'm glad I can help, thank you for watching ❤️

@@Xplora213 different minds different perspectives
@@pauldncn1 not really. Kids need teachers. Adults need to practice.
@@Xplora213 ah but the fun with adults practising is kids getting in the way 😂😂😂😂
I completely agree! Understanding the instruments around you is a great way to develop the skills on your own. Thank you for your comment 😊
Good !!!
