I am 73 years old and remember the traditional Latin Mass. Without a doubt, the Catholic Church needs to return to it. Thank you so much for this wonderful explanation.
That's right. INFILTRATORS robbed us from the truths
It is, in huge numbers! There's one near you, find it, go there.
@@saintbuenaventura574 The one I found near me is so packed that they now only allow the registered members. As you say I am so anxious to return to the Latin mass because it is the way Our Lord Jesus Christ wanted it to be done.
@@juans6639 JESUS wanted it done? He spoke Aramaic to his Apostles.
My mom remembers the TLM when she was growing up. She is 77. I told her I attended for the first time a TLM last weekend but she didn’t seem too enthused thinking I’m following a trend, etc but I told her that the mass seemed more normal than Novus Ordo. And I grew going to Novus Ordo, alter serving, Eucharist minister, instituted acolyte, etc. I almost wanted to ask her why didn’t she tell me that TLM was very divine, rich in prayer, very clear, less distracting etc
As a new convert who hasn't been to traditional mass yet, this is great.
@modern crusader. Hope you get to one soon!! It's the true faith
Welcome to the fold! 😊
Welcome Modern Crusader! We’re so excited you’re here. I just went to my first Latin mass a week ago and it is fantastic. It’s also the people it draws to it, much more Catholic. Did you come from another denomination?
@@seanpetersen9326 I've been floating around a bit, but I grew up evangelical (loosely) and spent some time in the reformed Baptist community.
@@VaticusChadicus Well I'm glad you made it to the sacraments! Pray for our family and we will do the same for you and yours!
I am 37 years old I was born after the changes and I fell in love with the Latin mass. I believe the Catholic Church needs to return to her original language.
Catholicism is so beautiful. I find myself on Pinterest just looking at different altars throughout the world during the sacrifice of the mass.
Me toooo
@@donatio1 rhis is why IT IS NOT ABOUT WHAT WE see with NATURAL eye..it is Spiritual and they aren't....
I am a recent convert to traditional Latin mass just this Jan. 2020. I am still in my most ecstatic honeymoon period. It is most reverential in every aspect of worship. I believe I was called for this. Thanks be to God. Our Lady of Victories Church is around 15 minutes from us- San Juan City, Philippines. 🙏🙏🙏💜💜
Hahaha indeed ecstatic honey moon welcome to the True Faith, the Church of Jesus Christ with a Mother
Atusiime Immaculate, a Most Precious and Courageous Mother, AND a huge family. Oh, and don’t forget the legion of angels.
@@seanpetersen9326 True
I've noticed people in the Phillipines are very militant against tradition. But to be accurate if you were already catholic you did not convert. We are in communion with those that attend the new mass and under the pope. I think language like this scares people off. We're all catholic, and are a strong conservative current fighting for the renewal of our church within the church, and the best way to go about it is to be informed and patient with those that react defensively. That's the way I look at it. God bless you brother!
I come to love the Tridentine Rite more and more each day. It’s like discovering an amazing if sadly buried treasure!
Thank Dr Taylor for explaining to us especially a born catholic like me the richness and the beauty of the catholic church. JESUS is really using you as an instrument to glorify His name and church. Praise be the Lord Jesus
I Got myself a Fr. Lasance Missal, and I've been attending a FSSP parish on Sundays about 30 min from where I live. It has fundamentally changed how I view the liturgy, and has been a great blessing for me. I converted to the Catholic faith from Lutheranism and became a member of a Novus Ordo parish a few months ago. My priest has started saying the TLM every first Saturday of the month and he asked me to be an altar server since I know Latin decently well. Learning to serve has had unimaginable effects on my soul, and I am so thankful for the opportunity God has given me to worship Him. Thank you so much for all you do Dr. Marshall, and I just want to say that listening to your show and learning about traditional Catholicism has deepened my faith, and convinced me even more that the Catholic faith is the one true faith.
We pray that more and more Novus Ordo altar servers will also consider learning how to serve in TLM. I’m forever grateful to be given a privilege to stand next to the priest every time we are having a Missa Cantata. Dóminus vobíscum.
Welcome to the Catholic faith 🕊❤️ I was born into the faith and I feel the same as you the more I learn about the TLM the more and more my soul feels closer to God and I truly believe the catholic faith is the one true faith. God bless you always 🙏🏼
Blessings to you & yours ❣️❣️😇🙏🏾🙏🏾
Thank you so much for serving at the Latin Mass! I'm teaching my boys the Latin responses, but they only agree to serve at the NO for now. Thankfully our priest says both masses at our church.
Thank you for this! My husband grew up with the Latin Mass and I grew up with the Novus Ordo so when we go to the traditional mass I feel lost but want to learn more!!
Love the Catholic background music. A beautiful reminder of my old TLM that I never never stopped LOVING.
Dr. Marshall, thank you for your ministry. I can't tell you how satisfying and fulfilling it is to listen to you and the manifestation of the holy spirit that emanates.
Amen!
I love these teaching moments. Thank you so much Dr. Marshall. 🙏🏻
Also it would be good to mention the three initial linen layers of the altar - two linen cloths same size of the Mensa and one that you already mentioned which hangs over the edges (. 2 inches above the floor)
There is an extra added layer which goes underneath the three linen layers and that is called the Cere Cloth(wax linen) mainly to preserve and protect the alter✝️
We were taught the three steps were for the three times our blessed Lord fell when he was carrying the cross.
Wonderful explanation. Shows how much we've lost. Let's restore the T L M everywhere.listening Francis?
My kids will love this thanks Dr
I will never forget the horror I felt when I attended Mass during Holy Week, and immediately after Mass a group of young adults and the choir leader approached the Altar, took the linens off, and proceeded to dismantle the altar and they performed a play. Yes, this was, and still is, a Catholic Church in my hometown that I attended most of my life. :(
Great information!
The passion behind “polyester is fake” made me laugh, thank you for the educational video!
Fantastic, Thanks Taylor. A great refesher from my altar boy days which is just about all eliminated in "NO" mass today. Loved holding the paten for the bishop when he visited. And keeping it flat also! Thanks Msg Leach. God rest your soul!
You inspire the Catholic's. Please don't stay away too long. Thank you and GOD's blessings.
Thank you so much Dr. Marshall! I just started going to a traditional mass and I don't understand much...😆
Keep at it! You will get it!
@@rubenmartinez4346 I will, thank you!
get yourself a missal. Your priest should be able to advise on which one.
@vamcw Taylor Marshall has a whole video on missals.
If you search youtube for 'Extraordinary Form of the Mass explained" there is a good video that walks through the steps of the Mass
This is magnificent, Taylor. Thank you !
This is really fascinating. I never learned this in Catholic school. But those masses were boring and empty. The Latin mass seems to be so amazing.
The last time I was at Latin Mass was two years ago on Christmas day. It brought back memories of this Mass in my local Church in Ireland when I was young. It was a sacred experience and it made you feel that indeed the Lord was present. The modern Mass took all that away and there is nothing mystical about it.
Excellent
Was a server in my home town until I was 65...I use to teach the kids how to serve...love doing it.
So much to learn for me. Tks! Dr Marshall.
The parish where I go for sunday TLM rings the steeple bells at the Consecration of the Host and the Blood. I love it, proclaiming to everyone in town that the Son of God is present .
Thank you for this.
I have'nt attended TLM, am taking notes/saved this video. Thanks Dr. Marshall.
Great basic info for us novus ordo babies who were not educated in the TLM without actually seeking that knowledge for ourselves. 👏👏👏✝️
Thank you father Hesse fore your valuable information irregardless to the evil novus ordo mass,I pray a prayer of thankyou fr
Thank you, Dr. Marshall
Taylor, no one like you. You sound so inlove with Jesus. I bet Jesus loves you so much
Thank you Dr.Marshall may God bless you to continue teaching His children on the Latin mass.
Thanks for the tips on lighting candles at mass. I train servers/MC at my parish (NO) and I try to incorporate as many traditional practices as I can. Pandemic aside, there will be an opportunity to start fresh.
I thought lighting candles is one of the requisite in training server?
So Beautiful, and reverent! Thank You, God Bless!🕊
Please do a video about the church approved Apperations of Our Lady of Revelation. Thanks for all your hard work. God Bless ❤🌹🕊
¡Qué raro, todos 'gringo $!
Спасибо за русскоязычные субтитры.
Thanks for the Russian subtitles.
Thank you, Dr. Marshall, for the explanation. All servers need to be given proper instructions before they actually start serving.
Love this wood art carvings. Beautiful.
I started watching older videos and now the algorithm is suggesting all kinds of treasures!
Great video 🫶 Thank you and God bless 😇
Thank you for a very informative presentation.
Awesome! I learned something new! Thank you!
Hello, Dr Marshall
Beautifully explained. What is a little frustrating is that idiosyncrasies such as those mentioned (St Peter's built sanctuary west and its altar ad orientem seemingly versus populum), are treated as the norm, ignoring the GIRM and traditional manuals. I describe the Old Rite as more mindful and that's why I think it should really be back in force. It just makes the Faith a richer experience.
Beautiful explanation dr
Very interesting and informative. Thank you!
Thank you Dr Taylor. I learn so much from you everyday.
St. Joseph in Ironton still has it's orignal high altar and the communion rail.
Most excellent explanation, Doc!
Thank you so much dr Marshal
Nice video!
Great job, thanks a lot!
Strange thing is when I was young child and would read the Apocalypse I always thought of it as the mass. I see a lot of resemblance of the TLM to the reading in the Apocalypse way more than Novus Ordo.
Amen. Praise be to God. 😇
Thank you.
I do like your new backdrop!😙😁😊😀😀😀😉
We need to go over all the temple !!!!! Also I listen somewhere that the sounds of bells are the sounds of angel winds
Absolutely, but the majority of bishops hate it. My wife and I grew up in the 50’s and 60’s prior to VAT II and that’s all we had and it was beautiful and the Church that we attended were packed. We cannot believe what we have lost. What a shame.
I am being recruited to sing with the choir in latin masses. Please discuss also the allowed vocal music in Latin mass.
I love it 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻😘😘😘♥️♥️♥️
Can you do a video on the servite rosary and the Catholic view on tattoos and evolution. Thank you
Very good.
CATHOLIC "Calling All To Holy Obedient Life In Christ "
awesome
Talk about all linens next.
Yes that is how you create linen
I had a sharing with a muslim guy the other day. It was all good and civil. But then he said “we have prayed the same way as our prophet for more than a thousand years. I dont know how you pray, but I do know that you changed the way you pray in the 60s. What’s up with that?”
I was so embarrassed. I didn’t know whether to approve that we innovated the novus ordo, or to disapprove and say our church is divided. I had to give him the old “thats an interesting question” response. Hmm. If only we can return to the original mass, that’d be great.
Well basically all you can tell him is that the Vatican ordered the changes. And that's basically all you can say since Catholics by definition obey the pope
Catch your precious lord!
As someone who was baptised into CoE, and then fell into sin, I am having real trouble of whether to go Catholic or Orthodox.
GLEVUM REX ask yourself which one Satan is more eager to destroy. 🤔
I'll pray the Holy Spirit guides you. We also have eastern churches in communion with Rome if that helps :)
@@cherylwaclawczyk9098 thank you for your response, I actually do not know the answer to your question though. From my limited data and experience I could find instances to support it being either.
@@elizabethmarie96 Thanks for the response, I have been praying to the Holy Spirit to guide me too and it has shown me to Old Calendar Greek Orthodox, at least this is what I think it has so far.
GLEVUM REX , many years ago I faced the same question. In the end I concluded that the Church with a history of evangelism and missions would be the place for me. I’m blessed to be a Roman Catholic, and I pray that you will be also.
Speaking of 'not looking down', very interesting in that the Cathedral that I attend, it is rectangular in shape (classic long hall structure) has three upper floor sections. One is the very rear where the Organ and Gregorian choir is, but on either wall on the north and south sides are two areas that could, if used, hold more people to attend mass. they would be 'looking down'. I don't know if that area has ever been used for that purpose, but it does exist in this particular Cathedral.
❤️🙏🙏❤️
What about in a church like St. Mary of the Annunciation in Charleston SC where there is a loft where people can look down on the altar?
I really wish someone explained this to me when I was a kid. In Catholic school.
The Shroud of Turin is linen & the infant Jesus was swaddled in linen, I read.
Dr Marshall is their a book you recommend that describes the norms, pictures, vessels, meaning of items on alter, etc. in TLM?
there are three altar cloths not mentioned
The tabernacle was not always on the Altar up until the late 16th century. There was the hanging pyx for example
I wish traditional latin mass was offered here in the philipines.
It is offered in the Philippines
Very nice explanation Dr.Taylor now aren't you glad you converted?
Hi Dr. Marshall! Thanks for all the info I learned. Please check consecration of old rite vs new rite. I don’t really know both, much less latin. Just that I feel I am discerning about this. Please check if new rite is not just Body and Blood, but Soul and Divinity as well.
Please please.
Dr. Marshall, I have noticed in some Masses at the communion rail is covered with a cloth and it looks like the commnicants place their hands under the cloth?
Can you list your podcast on Spotify?
@ Dr Taylor Marshall ,how does the pre vatican 2 altar compare with BC jewish altar?
Explaining the Novus Ordo altar would take seconds: “It’s a table!” 🤨
Cranmers Picnic Table. 🌴
@@johnmorgan4313 Spot on.
Dr Marshall what if the organ and choir is on the top level back of church (like a balcony) facing alter during the mass? I noticed that in this church where we go for TLM mass is structured this way and I believe is the oldest Church in Houston downtown built 1869.
The latin mass verry holy
It’s hard for me to find a dvd of the Latin Mass. I understand the danger of satanic abuse but I am also worried that there may come a day when Francis will convince UA-cam to delete it.
👍🏼📿📿📿
Hey y’all! I’m a recent convert and trying to set up a home altar and similar. Do you have any recommendations for Catholic shops online to purchase statues, a crucifix, candles that are made by Catholics or at least truly catholic owned? I’d like to support nuns, monks or generally crafty laity if possible.
Thank you to all who help me out.
Clear Creek Monastery is very good. They are a Traditional Catholic Order. They say the Old Mass exclusively. I've only heard good things about them... They have a gift shop on there website that you would probably be interested in. UA-cam won't let us link directly to websites but if you search on google for 'clearcreekmonks' you should be able to find it.
So much so I long to celebrate God in His Traditional (... first love...) Mass, God help us to be at your kindness n pity life.
Sad: the Novus Ordo doesn't require relics of the saints on the altars. My pastor pointed that out. Many of our local churches had the altars desecrated and the relics removed in the process...
Very sad indeed
Thanks for this video. Just one nitpick. Why the archaic "St. Mary Major?" "Maggiore" translates to "Greater."
Hey Doctor Taylor Marshall where's your scapular?
5 wounds of Christ = right hand, left hand, feet, head/crown of thorns, and wound in the side
Dear Lisa, that is wrong. The Five Holy Wounds are specifically those suffered on the Cross: hands x2, feet x2, side. They are not just injuries suffered during the Passion. If they were then one of the wounds would have to be the scourging, which is far more severe than a crown of thorns, and then we would have: hands, feet, head, back, side.
My church is Blessed Trinity. What saint would be in the altar?
The Catholic Church without the Latin mass has become sort of like what France would have been had it given up the French language.
I am an altar server, and I have been lighting the candles properly. I have been wondering what the reason for lighting the epistle side first then the Gospel side is. I assume there is some symbolizism to it. Does anyone know what it is (maybe it is just because that is the direction of the Mass as Dr. Marshall explains)?
Correct me if I'm wrong: I always thought it was because there is, in our culture, a fundamental primacy of right before left. Be it in Sacred Scripture (Our Lord sitting to the right of the Father), Liturgy (first acolyte being on the right; holding blessed items with your right hand) or even when driving your car. If you're not from Great Britain. ;D
What do I do, if I can’t find a Latin Mass near me? Is an hour too far?
