Oh man my thoughts exactly. The premium tier isn’t really worth it, particularly if you are living in regions where cloud streaming isn’t supported.

You can also play the game just as it was in its PS1 wobbly, low res pixelated glory with Duckstation. All enhancements are optional.

I don’t mind the texture wobble. Mine might even say I kind of love it. But Capcom /PlayStation loves making that difficult to prove by not providing an option to buy a DIGITAL LICENSE, LET ALONE. They better not think we don’t want a remake for not caving in to this route of playing a classic that deserves one.

@@JuanDiaz-jo1rw Or how bad DD2 run and the sepcs for MH Wilds. It's just MT Frameworks all over again. People hyped it up because it could run super linear games with static enviroments like DMC and RE. Then games like Dragon's Dogma or MH World came along and everything goes to shit.
Capcom is just like Square Enix, their engines are just made to look pretty and that's it.
I feel that this game can come to GOG soon...

@@skycloud4802It would surprise me since the original RE trilogy has never been remastered, only re-released on PC via GOG without a single touch to the graphics, ui, textures, etc.
It'll most likely just get a re-release for PC similarly to those games anyway.

It's really dumb the sh1 and re1 directors cut I bought on ps4 are now behind a paywall on ps5. There's such an extensive ps1 and ps2 library that there REALLY is no need to lock us out of our classic purchases just to pad your library. But this is another example of the negatives of digital purchases. You own nothing unless they let you.
Wait silent hill one is available on psn? All I found was the new sh2 remake.

@@MyLifeMyShou that is pretty stupid I have ps1 emulator and will just continue to play it like that. If you havent played silent hill 2 remake you should it improves on several of the original things plus at some parts it is actually scarier plus outstanding graphics and excellent sound.
Sony makes it so easy to just use emulators on pc. Not being able to just buy it is a scummy move by Sony. Having to pay for psn to play this no thanks!
Blame Capcom, not Sony. It's Capcom who's not allowing the game to be purchased. Same with REDC.
The only games that you cant buy are capcom games. Sony has nothing to do with it.
It’s same as Nintendo take away old games and put it in subscription tier Xbox only that let you buy old games and use disc you own from older generations

Having real 3D enviroments instead of prerendered backgrounds really helps to emulation. Also, that bug in DuckStation at 5:08 kind of scared the hell out of me, looks like something huge was about to devour the whole scene...

A remaster wouldn't cut it. The controllers suck big time on this game. Classic RE games actually play smoother than Dino Crysis
it's hard to even see it as a cash grab because you literally can't buy it, and no-one is getting a subscription just for this, just plain dumb i don't know what they were thinking

Back in the day, dithering would only ever be seen in magazine screenshots. It's funny that now people are nostalgic for magazines because of it. I agree, it adds a lot of charm to old games.

i played this game before on playstation 1 back in the day boy again this needs to be a remake
Something charming about the classic PS1 warping 😆 Not having it loses the signature even though reasonably I would prefer not having it if I was to actually play myself.
duckstation have a big bug in the skybox
ePSXe has much better graphics accuracy than duckstation, but duckstation has the option to reduce wobble and fix textures to bilinear
@@FantasyNero Really? I found Duckstation to be the more definitive accurate emulator, and that bug on the skybox can easily be fixed with a couple of tweaks on its settings.

Emulating you can also quick saving, ffw some useless transitions, easily record the screen if you want to show it off as a gameplay etc etc

Even on PS5 they kept the PS1 polygon wobble. 😄 I know Duckstation has a way to fix that.

Why did they keep the dithering on the PS5??. Dithering works when playing on a crt or with a crt filter, it looks off without it
There's 3-4 available filters on PS5 version, this is just the default look without any filter attached. Classic Arcade works best with this, but in motion. Default has best lighting. Modern has best character models. Modern Arcade is the happy medium between Modern & Classic Arcade but without the character models looking as blurred.

PS5 version doesn't even have trophies. Wouldn't buy it even if I was able to 🤣

@@Spr1ggan87 the only reason I'd get it on PlayStation would be for a platinum otherwise I might as well just emulate it on PC. If you don't care about trophies then that's fine but you gotta understand it's a good incentive for people to play and 100% old games if there's trophies involved.

no dithering in the duckstation either, ofc im sure thats an option in there, there is a little bit of misalignment/texture artifact with the skybox it seems on duckstation, and the duckstation version also has major artifacting with the skylights at 6:50 so honestly the ps5 emulation one even without pgxp correction is a ton better

Um you know subscriptions work? Platform pays Publishers for rights to put the game in their subscription service. Capcom wants to remake but they want to see if ppl are interested it.

How come every other classic game can be purchased then? The only ones that can’t be are Resident Evil Director’s Cut and Dino Crisis. Both owned by Capcom. So yes, it is Capcom’s fault.

The Emulator does better than the PS5.
Interesting. Duckstation resolves a slightly sharper image, but the PS5 seems to have better pre-renedered hsadows--which is strange. Also there's no dithering on the Dusckstation one, which leas to the textures looking flatter

Which emulater does PS5 uses, for their ps store games? For ps1 mini, it was PCSX
It uses the Syrup emulation engine developed by a company called Implicit Conversions.

I really, really dislike the Duckstation enhancements. Maybe is just me but I when I use it I go for software renderer, remove most enhancements and apply a nice CRT shader.

It's clearly better in Duckstation.
Your Duckstation settings are way off. To much garbo with geometry. Black holes in geometry, broken shadows, etc. Looks like you messed with PGXP too much
PS5 emulation on the other hand is just software emulation with resolution bump

a Sony devia no mínimo colocar uma opção para jogar na resolução nativa do jogo, já que não colocam um PGXP pra corrigir esses poligonos tremendo e texturas com persepctive torta que ficam bem mais visiveis e mais bugados quando sobe a resolução do jogo. uma opção pra forçar 32bits ou manter o dithering tb seria útil. emular no pc sempre vai ser melhor, a única vantagem ai talvez seja o jogo ter trofeus pra quem gosta disso.
Nem troféus tem. A Capcom não tem interesse e a Sony abriu exceção de obrigatoriedade de troféus para os clássicos. Para que o serviço não flopar igual foi os jogos de PS2 no PS4 que foram apenas 54 jogos.
Yeah well, Playstation is closer to an original PS1 experience, although way too polished and the Duckstation run at it's full capabilitiers is something no real person from that era would play their games at. Wobbly polygons, gitter effect and heavy aliasing are the essence and to turn them off is blasphemy, especially with the gitter effect creating a unique way of shadow rendering, which gives the blocky figures a weird sense of "realism". This is not how you play a PS1 game. (Opinion alert)

Wish Sony allowed us to unlock the framerate. It’s so jarring to see these games running at that choppy 30fps they used to run at.
Considering how old these games are, the gameplay is probably tied to the framerate.
@@sev2300 u cant do this, and this is a slow pace game with tanks controls. 60fps Will not change much. 90% of ps1 games Will break id u unlock framerate.

I prefer the PS5 version. hands down. The closer to the original the better. Although it is true that some upgrades like those of duckstation can be enjoyed from time to time as well.
It just shows what ps1 emulation can look like. You can make the game look exactly as it did on a ps1 if you want to.
nah duckstation superior than emulator that ps5 has, it have many features, you can tweak it to close to original console graphics, even with crt shader if you wanted it too
In Duckstation, go for software rendering, apply a CRT shader, and you'll have the experience you had when playing the game for the first time. Not that hard to tweak it better than the PS5 version, whether going for the closest original look as possible or a much better HD enhanced experience.
Plus you can quick saving and ffw the transitions between a room and another. Are we really still talking about that?

Creo con temor a equivocarme que en ps5 le agregan un parche que ajuste la pantalla de juegos antiguos xomo este... Y ya. Así sin más. Recuerdo haber comprado Castlevania SOTN bundle y... se veía igual que si se jugara en emulador, incluso en Android se ve un poco mejor, me siento decepcionado incluso mas sabiendo que este juego y otros clásicos los ponen en la suscripción más costosa...
