I’ll never forget putting Jak 2 down as a kid because I just thought I wasn’t very good at it Then firing it up again as an adult and almost putting my foot through the tv on numerous occasions, absolutely no business being that tough 😂
not the mention the crazy challange of the gods bonus missions. no save, gotta do them back to back cause if you quit or your ps freezes gotta start again from task 1
to be fair god of war 1 at the hardest difficulty is barely harder than shinobi is at normal mode. and unless your playing god of war 1 at the hardest difficulty its pretty easy.
Jak 2 is one of the most tedious games I've ever played. Every time I play it, I just know that it'll take twelve dozen attempts to complete half the missions. Even so, I love playing Jak 2 and will defend it as the best game in the series
Jak 2 took me two years to complete when I was a kid. I remember being so frustrated and giving up multiple times, just to come back a few months later and breeze through the section I had been struggling with. Absolutely the best game in the series and finally beating it is still one of my favorite gaming memories to this day.
Gradius 5 is hard, and I’m not saying it isn’t, but one setup I found made the game so much easier. Unlocking weapon edit will make this much easier, but the setup I used was to use the laser beam that continuously fired without breaks (can’t remember what it’s called), and the options set it to aim control. Even with one option and laser, spinning the laser around will wipe out most enemies in one go, and with four options, it makes things so much easier. You’ll still have to pay attention and stay alive and/or avoid having your options stolen.
Man oh man how Shinobi had me buying new controllers every other day! I could never get past I believe the third boss, when you had to fight two of them at once while you're also being attacked by them darn armored wolfs 🤬🤬🤬
I almost lost my voice after raging from the Ares boss fight at the end of the game. I said to him Ares your making me angry, you won't like me when I'm angry.
Ring of Red was my favorite ps2 game of all time, I still play it on my phone with an emulator lol. Nice to see it get it's flowers all this time later
BOF: Dragon Quarter is also infamous for punishing players for using the Dragon Transformation mechanic a mechanic that is a series staple. And by punishing players for using it if you use it a certain number of times before the game allows you to use it freely you will get a game over and see the game's bad ending and there's a high chance this will happen a lot as many of the bosses and enemies are difficult to the point where you have not choice but to use the Dragon Transformation just to barely win also the game doesn't clearly tell you how many times you can use it before you trigger the game over and bad ending.
And here I thought Baroque would be in here. Anyway I only managed to finish four of these games. DMC3, SMT Nocturne, Chaos Legion and Viewtiful Joe. I did play Gods Hand but in the PSP though.
Gotta include Silent Hill 4 on this list. The game gets especially tough when the hauntings in the apartment get crazy and protecting Eileen is already hard as it is.
The escort mission towards the end of Jak 2 resulted in me not finishing the game. I just couldn't complete it! Absolutely loved 1 & 3, hate 2 for it's unfair difficulty. Airblade was a really cool concept, but I couldn't get past the first couple of levels. 😭
I'm surprised Sly Cooper and the Thievious Raccoonus isn't here, with it's no health bar and One Hit Kills unless you have horse shoes, it can get really annoying, real fast!
I like a challenge sometimes I’ll put a game on hard every now an then but souls games piss me off 😂😂 that git gud shit is bollocks everyone who plays them has either got beginners luck or had to replay the boss fights so many times they end up beating the boss
It depends on what the game is about setting and story wise but I do like hard games. Like Ghosts N' Goblins and Cuphead. That being said I'm not a Soulsborne fan. Plus many of my favorite franchises started in the 80s when games were known to be more difficult. Castlevania being a good example.
@@gandhiatemilkduds5395 my first soulsborne game I got was actually bloodborne an I got so far into it that I quit on what’s said to be one of the easiest bosses I thought I might of gone wrong somewhere in the game equipping the wrong thing so I deleted it in the end still Ive never raged til I broke a controller it’s quite far from an anger issue it just genuinely pisses you off 😂

Anyone ever play Blasto! A ps1 game starring the late great Phil Hartman? That games c*ck-clobberingly hard. To this day I don’t believe they have a 5th level because I’ve literally never seen it in 25 years.
what about the Men in Black 2: Alien Escape? Tank style movement, third-person camera that was a little too close and clunky at best hit boxes. I loved it as a kid, but playing it recently was nothing short of infuriating. Add the additional "don't die during a mission to unlock more content" malarkey and its nothing short of draining. Oh, and if you used cheat codes, it prevented you from saving your progress until the console was shut off.

I worked for Sony in the late 90s, early 2000s as a quality assurance specialist (video game tester). Worked on Twisted Metal Black among others. The game was not too hard. I took 2nd place in the office tournament using Specter. Specter is/was BUSTED.

That's not true! Jak II isn't hardest game because it's kinda of easy, but I was frustrated about getting failure missions in many times when I was careless about getting hit by zoomer.😰
Harry Potter 1 on PS2 is very painful . Labyrinth, stupid camera, plateform phase but you cant jump with a button, you have to run correctly in the perfect direction...with this camera. The final boss doesnt tell us how to beat him. Took me 2h -.-

3 cheers for Manhunt, this game needs a modern remake with better controls.
God of War 1 should’ve been top 3 only for that ridiculous spiked column section before you exit hell

That game took me and my brother to finish that 3 times in our life. But we were kids with nothing but free time on our hands. As adults we're good😂
