Nice quick sum up of the game, not something you'd expect this long after release - good job! Another reason people prefer BL2 to 3 so long after release is due to the replayability and end game in BL2, obviously you wont have played it so far to worry about it, but you may have noticed in BL3 that you got lots of very cool weapons and bosses gave you so much loot. Thats not really a bad thing for the looter shooter formula, but in BL2 legendary weapons are truly earned. You can get the odd drop here and there, but what really makes the game for so many people these days is how you can really hone a build and spend time with a character farming for specific gear. Most bosses have dedicated drops and most of them are useful towards specific builds depending on the character. They kind of lost that in 3 which I think is really what made so many people jump back to 2 after they had some time with 3., as it didnt feel rewarding when you checked your inventory and were overflowing with legendary weapons by the end of your second playthrough. Just my 2 cents. Glad you're enjoying the franchise! Always good to get new Vault Hunters in the community :)
Playing it now in 2024. It holds up well. The dated graphics only irritate you for an hour until you get used to it. Weapons shake a lot. Invest points in weapon accuracy. Way more sway than 3. Fun plot. Great game to replay at higher levels or with a new character
Yeah, really hard. In 90 hours only two players joined my game and they made me crash (because of mods i think?). Even looking for people in forums or discord is not helping.
As someone who started Borderlands with 2, I gotta say that it and Pre-Sequel are by far my favorite games in the series. I personally disagree about the colors; 2 imitates the style (both in color and in the cel-shading itself) of Borderlands 1 a whole lot more, and I think that kind of consistency is much better than the flashiness they went for in 3. In terms of gameplay, I don't think that everything 3 adds is really that big of a deal. I think the Pre-Sequel added more to the gameplay of 2 in a much more meaningful way. I'd like to see you review Pre-Sequel because I think it's a much better successor to 2 than 3 is, and it'd be interesting to see your thoughts on that. Of course, I think there'll always be a difference because you started with 3 and I started with 2 lol anyways I gotta get back on and farm some midgets; my axe is thirsty!
i was borded 1 day and booted up boderland 2 on series x, only to be dumbfounded with a update and DLC with 4k, mind you i havent played this game since xbox 360, and my gawd gearbox are so clever, like the cell shading graphics are timeless, playing it after 12 years and with that texture pack, its amazing, im one of those people who once he sees better graphic gogles, games that were playable in 2010 all i see is now is bad graphics and it puts me of, not boderlands, yeah maybe it is becuase of teh 4k ultra texture pack, but how many games can you still redo a whole 2 playthrought after 12 years and feel like your playing something that came out in 2024.
Just completed my first play through with axton, i regretted picking him at first but he has grown on me. Gonna do some DLC then power my way through tvhm.
Borderlands 2 is still worth playing and so many new gamers are missing out on it. online multiplayer is pretty much empty no matter what time of day it is. I still play but there's nobody to play it with anymore. Maybe people are done playing it because of older graphics but the game is too fun for the graphics to matter.
@JayJay-z4y Start with 2 first. Some players still play but very rarely. I use discord on the Borderlands server and I see players all the time asking to play with others
BL2 is the true soul of borderlands soul. The characters arent near as cringe, and the DLCs feel more like actual expansion packs. The real problem with BL2 is the scaling. Progressing through the OP levels and the farming. You can solo raid bosses and receive nothing. The story is better in BL2 is because of Handsome Jack. He's charismatic and drives the story. The story is your typical rebel vs an empire story. Nothing really special aside from jack. This was also the point when you payed a couple bucks and got a full on expansion. You cant do that no more. In BL3, i have a literal arsenal of yellow cakes because you get them almost everytime. BL2 had more personality.
I really liked Angel. Jack is very controlling and the whole story is because Angel wants to escape from her father which compels Jack to attack you with the Warrior. Gaige is hilarious and I played when you could merge weapons allowing me to spam a droog and turn everything to juice by stacking the A.I. gun reload voice/animation 100 times then merging with a reduced ammo rocket launcher. Every critical hit was 5098674506734506784309 damage and Gaige would go nuts screaming in excitement that other players HAVE to hear. Even when you take a smoke break Gaige just starts talking about her past while the other characters just grunt. It is really funny.
Real question is "Should anyone have bothered playing Borderlands 3?" Seriously I played it once and it has been uninstalled, and on a shelf ever since. I played through bl2 multiple times and I'm about to do so again - once I have the latest patch downloaded. Badass Ranks are the best thing ever!
@@Calzee True, but it is clear that the player numbers fell away much quicker than for Bl2. I'm probably a little butthurt because I was so looking forward to 3, and was disappointed ☹️.
Good video, good review. Only thing I could disagree with is the coloring of the game. Although I think borderlands 3 does look stunning and has great visuals and colors, I still think borderlands 2 looks more rich and in-depth with color. Something I felt was not replicated in any other game other than The Pre-sequel
I own 1 never got far. Bought 2, same thing. Im thinking of playing again (on easy) just for the lore. Are they worth my time for the lore and keeping in mind playing on easy.
Maybe it’s not your genre I don’t know. But I would say yeah, it’s still worth it for the lore/story as there’s a good amount to it. Plus Borderlands 2’s story is amazing. One of the best imo
Doesn't have a difficulty setting - playthrough 1 (level 1-30ish) should be manageable solo for most players. Playing through again with same character in TRUE VAULT HUNTER MODE & ULTIMATE VAULT HUNTER MODE gets progressively tougher.
Should you play borderlands 2 in the year 3000? YES. There is no other game like this and at this quality. I doubt bl4 will be this good but hopefully I’m wrong.
The movie was so fucking bad that I went back and played the first 2 borderlands for the first time just to make sure that the movie had nothing to do with the games
