I work at cex. I can say that when we buy stuff in, we take it out and put it in a sleeve, and when we sell it we pick a random one out so we don't match it to the case so if you do get a reprinted cover most likely won't get the manual but the disc will still be random so can be from even a sealed copy.
This is good to know! Personally I still wouldn't choose to get a copy with a reprinted cover, but at least there's a chance the disc may not be in as bad a condition I thought it'd be. Thank you for your insider knowledge! ☺️
That's how I almost ended up with the wrong language version of a game. I had deliberately picked out the Dutch version of Burnout Revenge for PS2 (for the novelty), but the staff member brought out a disc for the UK version. Had to ask them to find the disc with the matching part number. Luckily, they still had it and there wasn't a customer being confused because the game was speaking Dutch. Another annoyance is Platinum discs being put in non-Platinum cases and vice versa.
Brilliant advice. I used to work in Electronics Boutique many years ago and I always check disks, sleeves and cases. And a missing booklet is definitely a no no.
Best tip for a CEX buyer is to work there😅 Edit: 3:21, you can do click and collects within a store - but you cannot have stock sent to another store to collect.
Another thing you should be aware of is when you buy (mainly) multi-disc games and one of the discs if either the same of the other(s) or is for a different game, happended to me twice in both 2021 and 2022 when I bought Mass Effect 3 (2011) and L.A. Noire (2011) both for Xbox 360. Depending on the rating of the game as well you may also need proof of ID (similar to things like alcohol, etc. in other stores). About one week ago (as of this video) I have started being asked for ID (never happended before that day) and the first time it happended I didn't bring any with me so two games I tried to get I couldn't, but about 5-6 days later I was asked again and this time I did bring ID in and was accepted. That's another thing to keep in mind too (no matter your age). Plus something weird that I do when buying certain games at CeX that is rating related is that for games rated by BBFC and PEGI (but the former being intended for the UK, etc.) I try to go a step further and get the PEGI versions of those games, in some situations where multiple copies of that game exists I would check the spine to see if there's no BBFC rating on it and if there isn't then BINGO (well if it's a standard edition of the game anyway, not things like PlayStation's Platinum, Xbox's Classics or Nintendo's Player's Choice or Nintendo Selects) I'm gettin' that (even if I already have the game already with the BBFC one). Don't ask why I do this it's just how I want my collection to be. LOL
Good point about the right discs. Twice I've been given the wrong disc: Bayonetta instead of Bayonetta 2, and Daytona USA instead of the Championship Edition. Both times I spotted it right away though, because I knew what the discs were supposed to look like, but ya could end up taking the wrong game home. Best double check before leaving the store.
On a serious note though, there's been times where I've made a purchase from CEX and it's been the only copy of the game I want in the store, and the game box is damaged. I just ask them to change it to another game box.
I absolutely disagree about emailed receipt/voucher. CeX store you email so there’s no chance it’ll go walkies. Also you can loose the physical receipts but digital you cannot.
Oops! I left a tip out!
Tip #16 - Be nice to the staff. They're people too.
Stay safe ❤

It's me! Yay for Affie Cameo.

Hi, I'm new in the UK and was wondering if it's ok to buy a Macbook in CEX? Thanks
