Got eem! My dude got it quicker than anyone else. He didn’t have to wait for Wreath or Carry him away….. NOW THIS IS HOW YOU REACT TO CLASSIC COUNTRY MUSIC! GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!
I grew up in the 70s and I mostly listen to classic rock but there are a few country singers I like. Waylon Jennings is my favorite but I really like George Jones too. This song is one of my favorite country songs
Written by the great Bobby Braddock. This was voted the #1 song even written. This song brought George's career out of the ashes. I never listen to this song without getting emotional
Very rare are those who get this as quickly as you did. That's the beauty of this song. Read somewhere that this song stayed at #1 for 18 weeks and in the top 100 for 2 years.
Doc, I LOVE how you listen to the words. A ton of reactors guess at what it really means and you seem to really try to understand where the singer is coming from. LOL and when you stop I yell just keep going hun it it'll come.
I ❤️ that you get it. This song fully describes my Dad. My Mom left my Dad, then passed in 2020. He passed in August 2022 and wanted this song played at his funeral. I first heard it the day he died and it fit him to a tee.
I lived next door to the songwriters (Bobby Braddock) best friend growing up. RIP Bill Chislom. Oh and you got it 1st before any of the others. Good job.
When i was a child and first heard this song I understood he died which is why he stopped loving her. When i asked my mom about the song and remember her telling me it was a prison song. I thought she meant he was actually in prison. Only now as an adult do I realize the "prison" was his love for her. On one hand it's hard to find love like that. When you do it should be treasured and treated with equal love. On the other hand it's also sad that his love for her was a "prison" that he could never escape from. Thank you for your reaction
I gotta say, you got it faster than most. I even have seen some reactors to this song listen to the whole thing and still not get it… often thinking he just got over her. The first and last line of the song sums the whole thing up… “He said I’ll love you till I die.” And “He stopped loving her today.” It’s a Harmonica btw
I was fortunate enough to see George Jones perform this live just a few years before he passed away. Even at his age and the fact he was already quite ill, he sounded amazing. This is quite literally the saddest song ever written.
I saw him twice, once in 2003 and then in 2009 and I will never forget it. I became a fan of George in 2000 in 9th grade. I joined the Marines just bc he was a former Marine. Greatest singer ever, and read his book bc it's crazy
Congratulations🎉 you are officially the fastest one to figure the story out! when 99% can’t figure the story out at all even after hearing the whole song, and I’ve seen probably a 100 reactions to this song, Now we CHALLENGE you to listen to the grand tour by George Jones and get that story right because 100% gets that one wrong 😉
The song is about his friend and what he experience when his love left him , he never got over her while he was alive and there was no more tears after he died and that was the first time he saw him smile
Say man that is a harmonica, you are referring to there is also a steel guitar, in this song, it is a great song written by Bobby Braddock it was voted the #1 country song of all time, George Jones, was a great singer, I would like to request a song by George Strait, called "WHEN DID YOU STOP LOVING ME" another great song. Thanks
He was true to his word. He loved her until he died. Of course to quote another country song in the woman's favor, "You can lead a heart to love but you can't make it fall." She just couldn't love him the same way he loved her.
HARMONICA. Can you explain "but I didn't see no tears" and "first time I'd seen him smile in years"? Good follow of the clues! A 3-minute slow-motion avalanche of heavy human emotions!
This one rips my heart out! Mister George Jones sings it with such great emotion.....you can feel the way he loved her, you can visualize the moments described.... dressed up to go away... placed a wreath upon his door... soon they'll carry him away...she came to see him one last time..... Just incredible imagery used in the lyrics. Good reaction. God bless you and all here!
George Jones was my Daddy's HERO & His favorite singer! Even After my Mom left and divorced my Daddy , he loved her til the day he died! Despite his womanizing ways during their 20 year marriage!
One of the best songs ever written!! Hey, man, you're soooo far behind, in country music greats.... Try "Fancy", by the legendary Reba McEntire (official video), and "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia". Then, by Dolly Parton: "I will Always Love You" (you thought that was Whitney's song, dintcha), "Jolene", and "9 to 5" (one of her fun ones from the movie in which she starred)!! I just found you, and I'm really enjoying your reactions, so far!!
You got it before most reactors do. Many get that the man died when he sings "they'll carry him away" and a few do with the line about the wreath upon his door. But not many do right away when the chorus begins, and even fewer with the dressed up to go away. I do agree about the smile--if he was already dead when his friend came to visit, the mortician wouldn't have him smiling for a wake/visitation/viewing. The ambiguity in the song for me has always been in that line. Did the guy die of natural causes (cancer) and felt relieved because he knew the end was near when the friend visited? or was he happy because he had decided that was going to be THE day, and he had invited his friend over for a final goodbye; after the friend left, did he take out those love letters, set them on the night stand, and end his life?
Here is another old country classic that you really need to listen to It is the story in this song that will really make you appreciate this genre. And hail to the writer of this amazing classic!! Jeannie's Afraid Of The Dark by Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner, written by Dolly!
My uncle died of a heart attack at the age of 48 on the golf course after a perfect putt on the ninth green ….. he had a pleased little smile on his face and that somehow made things a bit easier …. Was glad they let me see him …. I was 12
“They placed a wreath upon his door.” Yes, he died and ‘loved her until the day he died! “ And soon they’ll carry him away.” The coffin will be carried to the graveyard.

Won record of the year two years in a row!
Doc, I LOVE how you listen to the words. A ton of reactors guess at what it really means and you seem to really try to understand where the singer is coming from. LOL and when you stop I yell just keep going hun it it'll come.
One of the best reactions I have ever seen to this song. And I have probably watched most of them. Way to go, Doc!
Greatest love song ever written....
I ❤️ that you get it.

Really?
No flowers, no wine, no intimacy,.... greatest love song of all time

And another extreme sad song was when Vince gill sang go rest high on that mountain at george Jones funeral
My very favorite classic song sung by the greatest singer!
The musical instrument you're looking for is the 'Harmonica'. Thanks for the reaction and for getting it.
I was lucky enough to get to see him live in concert and let me tell you he put on one heck of a show and had so many great songs.
One of the best country songs
If enough people tell you it was the harmonica you will never forget again😂
😂😂
This was one of my favorite songs growing up. Love "No Show" Jones.
When they placed a wreath on you door, it was a mourning wreath. He was all dressed up for his burial. It’s a harmonic.

Was lucky to see him. Perform Live❤
It is considered the best country song ever written
Some people who have died peacefully have a smile frozen in their face.
George Jones was my Daddy's HERO & His favorite singer! Even After my Mom left and divorced my Daddy , he loved her til the day he died! Despite his womanizing ways during their 20 year marriage!
That’s why this is considered the greatest country song ever
My favorite George Jones Song is called The Cold Hard Truth.
Great song and I also think his best vocals of his career.
Worth a reaction.
My dad’s favorite song I still can’t make it through the whole song with dry eyes
Love me some George Jones
Unexpected ending because we don't expect our own death.
Yes. He died.

The opening line to the song was he said I would love til I die .
Check out whose gonna fill their shoes by the late great mr George Jones
Ngl. This song is one of the most savage songs there is.

The opening line is the story … “He said I’ll love you till I die”…
Well done man. Lovely reaction. A heartbreaker, eh? ❤
some morticians deliberately put a slight "smile" on the corpse of the deceased.
“They placed a wreath upon his door.” Yes, he died and ‘loved her until the day he died! “ And soon they’ll carry him away.” The coffin will be carried to the graveyard.
Do a little background
Search!!
If it's in the mouth harmonica. The fiddle aka violin and steel guitar are similiar.Putting wreaths on the doors and carrying him away yep he died.
Harmonica is the name of the instrument that you can't remember...
Harmonica!!!!
OMG, i follow you for politics, but my favorite country song?...WOW ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
i learned this on guitar..for when i have to be at my mom's funeral
Harmonica or otherwise known as mouth organ
Harmonica is the instrument.. And, George is singing about his love for Tammy Wynette who left him.

You shouldn't doubt your own mind friend. The undertaker posed him to smile.

I believe that musical instrument you're talking about is called a steel guitar.
“Did he die?” Yes….ding ding ding.
You get it, Doc Rich. 😰😰😥😥
You need to check out The Corvette Song by George Jones
At 4:20 you got it.
he said i love til i die was the first line
Harmonica @1:51
First line of the song: He said I’ll you tell I die. He’s dead.
Another good sad song you should react to is whiskey lullaby. Watch the music video.
Rory Feel, as was Joey, is a born-again Christian.
Cancer took Joey, but it is only temporary. One day, Rory will join her in Heaven.
Listen to that summer by Garth brooks!!
All the clues come early. The most telling is 'found letter beside his bed dated 1962.." What is he, or anyone else who'd know, doing by his bed and relating the story after the fact? Of COURSE the old man had died. They have found his body, smiling, dressed up for a journey.
George is singing about a man who died
❤❤😢😢
HARMONICA
