1st saw Be+Bop Deluxe as a support for Cockney Rebel at Barnsley Civic Hall, wasn't into Rebel at all but my mate borrowed his dad's car and he asked me if I wanted to go to see C Rebel with 2 other mates but they just weren't my thing so I said no,but on the night of the gig I bumped into my mate on the way home from work and I asked if there was a spare seat in the car and he said yes so I went, wow was I glad,Be+Bop were and still are the best support band I've ever seen,1 month after that gig Be+Bop were headlining at a place in Sheffield where we all lived called the Black Swan,im sure it was Sunday night, anyway the 4 of us went with our girlfriends and only just got in as it was sold out 30 mins before the gig, what a band the music was brilliant the place went nuts and the rest they say is history, went to see them loads as Bill was from Wakefield then as they turned into Red Noise and then when he went solo, once met Bill at a Magazine gig and he was so approachable such a down to earth guy and a great guitarist/ musician, thanks Bill for all the great times,❤👍

I would have loved to see him work with Bowie, Robert Fripp, together with more work with David Sylvian!

Round about Bill Nelson's The Love That Whirls and Chimera period (1982-1984), I remember Nelson saying in interview that he and Bowie had been talking about possibly working together. But unfortunately it never happened. Perhaps it was due to the complications of negotiating between the various record companies. But it would have been brilliant if Bill Nelson and Bowie had collaborated!

@@wiseonwordsl seem to remember that Bowie was due to play sax on Chimera but due to other commitments this never happened.

Another eccentric Englishman and musical genius!Came out sane period as Bowie!

Please do share what would make one "eccentric".Is it because he doesn't do top 40 covers like everyone else?Is it because he doesn't fit your mold of "mainstream"?Is it because you're too shallow to handle anything outside of Kasem's Top 100?Are you attempting to compliment Nelson or insult him? Although, Englishman and musical genius are true.

The working class environment of the 60s and 70s were like a coffin for creative young musicians who yearned to jump out of the box.

Bill would've balked at the idea his music these days is labelled "progressive music" ,....a label many bands during the mid 70's were eager not to be associated with. During "Axe Victim" Bill was more eager to get some of that "glam" vibe that was still around in '74.....
Oh well..times change ..."Prog" these days is not a curse word anymore, which is good in a way......

Can you please tell what's the name of the song he's playing in the studio with the guitar?

dumdumfriend The track is called "On the Beach" and can be found on the album "Chameleon". Although the track doesn't have the acoustic part shown in video.

@@DrittAdrAtta Sylvian had the knack of listening to musicians do a great piece with a particular sound, then write a song it would fit to, basically stealing their thing for his own composition.
