It won't work. How are the courts going to cope with all the gang members filling up all the courts AND NO staff to deal with everything as they have been sacked. The government is delighted that the cops have charged 12 gang members in the first 24 hours. However I can't see how our over worked police are going to follow around the thousands of gang members and take their patch off of them. I wonder how longbit will be before the tattoo their bodies with their patch? What will this Government do then?
Meanwhile NZ citizens wait an average of 3 days for police to come to a house burglary. Jenny Shipley brought in hospital waiting lists and 600 New Zealanders died the first year of its introduction. Has Jenny been held account for mass murder or was she let off because she didn't wear a patch? Justice in this country is nuts.
@@MWPaora so it works in the cities does it work elsewhere because Aussie still has a gang problem patch or no patch. Organised crime isn’t going anywhere.
I live in Japan where similar measures have been taken against the Yakuza. For example, tattoos (not full body, Yakuza irezumi, but ALL tattoos on anyone) are banned from public bath houses. And other, far more extreme draconian, discriminatory laws have been effected. Yes, they have been largely successful in stamping out the Yakuza. Now, corrupt cops have slid in to fill the void (not to mention disorganized, small gangs of ruffians as well with even less of a code of ethics than the Yakuza). Enjoy your ban, NZ!
THEY DID. John Key tried this over 10 years ago. It was a proven joke then, and it will be the same now. right wingers HAVE NO IDEAS. they just take people's money and make everybody's life worse. they are NOT a good fit for New Zealand, and they need to go.
Watch them show on media about the handful they take off people but guaranteed to be 10 steps behind. They've told this nation for decades about crime takedown etc with gangs and they still laugh at you for voting them in and not changing jack🤣
the fact is they have lasted decades. This doesnt even dent organised crime but like the bloke said you really think police are going to risk it on 80k a year is that what your life is worth
it's got nothing to do with actual gangs. are you an idiot? they tried this 10 years ago and it completely whiffed then to. because a patch does nothing. you can take them all away, and they will just use a different symbol. it's a stupid waste of time and money, designed to impress gullible fools like yourself.
I can't get over the Maori party supporting patches. Why don't they call out it for its opression of Maori community... And all communitys? I thought this would be welcomed by the Maori party because gangs go against Maori culture.
Its a tragedy, that party needs to wake up and realise the long term psychological damage gangs have on our people aswell as ALL nz citizens. All for the ban and im an ex BP patch member.
Come down hard on patches but not on crime. Put abit more energy into real crime. All these 8 to 5 cops are probably getting more overtime to go and get somebody's patch.
that's what they said when John Key tried it, and nothing happened. because it was always a joke, and these screwheads just do it to foment their right wing base.
More kids will be raised without their dads. Its the mindset of these individuals within gangs that fails the family and causes the curse of gang culture on Nz to continue.
That is the typical mentality of a criminal. Always looking for someone else to blame as to why they don't want to follow the laws that every other citizen abides by.

Good job
Ant offensive sign or gesture can be banned and a gang patch can be used as a threat to people so i agreement to banning Gang patches
