Made My Girlfriend Play Subnautica

- Welcome aboard Girlfriend, all systems online.
After her adventures in Outer Wilds my girlfriend kept asking for a fresh alien world to explore. If you've played Subnautica before then you already know she got more than she bargained for.

Subnautica is a game that contains a lot of beauty in nature itself, but comes at the price of the fear with the unknown
which then also comes at the price of inevitably murdering that natural beauty when you've mastered that fear. reaper rodeo anyone?
Like the real ocean
Once you've played the game for a while it won't be that scary anymore tho
@@EvelynNdenial why reaper when we can settle for a sea dragon rodeo
So many jump scares and eerie creepy noises and feelings.played a lot of horror games and I think subnautica is the one that truly spooked me sometimes
“Her inability to eat anything cute SEVERELY decreased her survival chances” Has me rollin 😂😂
Thank god the Gary fish exists
always a vegan in subnautica >:D no eatin the cute peepers for me!
@@iceleftinpop5353:O How on Earth did you survive then? Chewing off the vines??
@@amjthe_paleosquare9399 vines, fruits and seeds :D
I limit myself to only eating non hoverfish foods (I wish they let you eat leviathans then you wouldn't have to feel bad)
"I noticed she was afraid of something sneaking up on her.
So I decided to make her play Subnautica"
that's so eviiiil, I love it
also damn Outer Wilds DLC ost is wonderful
Would have been absolutely malicious to make her play barotrauma
@@clown4837 speaking of them playing barotrauma
I guess Alien: Isolation in VR should be next.
@@Raist474 Would that be in a similar league to Subnautica VR?
that multiple seamoth part was one of the cutest/funniest things ive ever seen
Points for ingenuity!
If you can't find a door, break a window!
@@maggiem6209 and she made it cute 😂😭😭
/Its honestly something I would’ve done.
I busted a gut at the part where she created a bunch of seamoths to act as glorified beacons. That's both endearing and hilarious.
I had to cackle. That's incredibly ingenious and yet so incredibly cumbersome. Gotta love getting people unfamiliar with the genre conventions to play it. When you can't find a door, break a window!
The Rainbow Squad
I had to do that once when accidentally beached my seamoth on the beach of one of the island.
using a prawn as lifeboat in the dead zone had me laughing way too hard
(knowing from experience it will sink to the bottom with no way of ever getting it back up)
If you’re curious about this, there is a maximum depth, it just warps you to a random spot in the middle of the map. I would know, as my prawn glitched through the floor one time when going through a portal.
Not if you have the grapple arm.
Eh, it'll explode before it hits the bottom
its 27,000 meters deep after all
@@nemtudom5074 No it's 8000m
@@ryko3698 AAAARRRRH, the Prawn are so glitchy! I had one ruining a save because I got stuck in a corner inside a architect structure
This channel is so criminally underrated, the editing, pacing, and the dialogue from both parties is so entertaining for each video
Absolutely. Excellent banter, their chemistry between each other, their fun playing games is infectious. I've been sharing as much as I can because these two need to be bigger. Mostly commenting to give the ol' algo boost if that still works
It feels like the polar opposite of Girlfriend Reviews if you're familiar with them, and I love it. Almost like this is the boyfriend's channel of hers
I’ve never seen this channel before, but you’re absolutely right. I’m subscribing!
First time I found this channel so this is a good sign
"She was scared of things sneaking up on her, so I made her play Subnautica."
How the hell has she not broken up with you yet!?
No no no... she was afraid of things sneaking up on her in Outer Wilds, where nothing sneaks up on you, which must have been terribly embarrassing. In Subnautica, she can catch things sneaking up on her from time to time. Vindication at last! ;)
Gaming kinks?
amazing as always! Btw, if I haven't already mentioned it, this game has a multiplayer mod that might fun for you guys.
Thanks! Didn't know that we'll have to give it a try :)
It's not a mode. It's a mod, And it doesn't work that well.
Think you miss typed mod there buddy
@@BoyMetGirl its super buggy, but also super fun. At the end of the day, its just a mod trying its best. But considering that, its not terrible.
@@BoyMetGirl It's incredibly buggy, and gets more and more buggy as the playthrough continues, expect a bunch of really funny glitches and very annoying ones(some basically ruin the game so good luck)
Honestly, if you look into the lore of what life working for Altera is like, staying on the planet is the good ending.
Being a corporate slave isn't your ideal way to spend your life? 😄
Seeing as the guy who invented the seamoth got put on the board of directors I would assume he guy who finds a fuel source that is five times more efficient and a cure to a universe ending disease would end up being one of the guys on top
Think anyone has paid that debt off yet?
@@plugshirt1762 Nah, considering the story bits we get in BZ, I don't think things turned out well for the Aurora survivor.
@@plugshirt1762 not only every item your get from the planet is considered aurora property but also puts you in debt, without mentioning how you are put responsible over the property damage on aurora and sunbean. You'd get enough debt for your whole bloodline
I love how she used her Cyclops and Prawn Suit to recreate the game's opening cinematic.
Her using the seamoths as beacons is actually precious and hilarious
but also I would scream I have to do that because all of the resources that shit would require
How did she get back😂😂😂
I have thalassophobia so I am terrified of the ocean, I always wanted to play subnautica, but never could because I am too afraid. Seeing videos like this of people playing it makes me experience it in someway and I am happy because it feels like I am not alone. I haven't watched the video yet, but I already know it will be another banger like all of you guys vids ❤👍
Thank you! Living vicariously through someone is what these videos are all about! xD
I've "ridden along" with Thalassophobic "Subnautica" players for a while now. One was so scared that he spent the first episode walking around the top of Lifepod 5. (He even built an above-sea-level base!) Nevertheless, most Thalassophobes do jump in and explore the Safe Shallows. Given time, Thalassophobes get to the "A Stalker is nibbling on the Seamoth. Such a bother." stage. In fact, more Thalassophobes have "gotten Alterra's bill" than most others. One legendary Thalssophobe "got Alterra's bill" several times, playing with handcaps such as "No Bases" and "No Vehicles." So, "Ryley Robinson," sign on as the Non-Essential Systems Maintenance Chief and "meet the Terror head on." Each player is unique, along with their experience in game.;)
I'm thalassophobic, and I actually found Subnautica very therapeutic. It was terrifying at first, it hasn't made real opaque water any less scary, and I'm still freaked out by water immersion in other games... but because all of Subnautica's threats are manageable once you know the biomes and creatures, it becomes a satisfying process of conquering the fear by mastering the game until you make it yours.
Have you ever played ABZÛ ? That game might provide a more positive experience without any anxiety inherent in the mechanics
@@emilio_mlx no I haven’t, but I could check it other in the future
Her making a bunch of sea moths to use as landmarks is my FAVOURITE
3:26 the speed at which she snapped to that new angle just shows how terrifying this game can me sometimes. When I saw that my first thought was "Yup, if I was experiencing all that crap myself, with myself in the water and I'm the one making everything, I'd turn my head that quick too."
I wish I could see the full unedited version of the made my girlfriend play throughs
Yes!! I'd LOVE to see the full recording, it sounds like she had an absolute blast playing this & her comments are hilarious! I love watching play throughs & living vicariously through others experiencing a game for the first time, especially one I love so much. I've seen the stuff in Subnautica a dozen times & it brings me so much joy to see the genuine reaction of someone who hasn't.
@@NyghtWolf they can throw it on a second channel to avoid angering the algorithm too.
@@EvelynNdenial Heck ya! That'd be awesome!
Man the quality just gets better and better each video, keep up the good work

"Watching her park the cyclops had some serious getting out of the car to help her parallel park vibes" is a sentence i would have never thought of, but oh my lord its so accurate
You can't say you complete your experience in Subnautica without listening to "Abandon Ship" OST once! Nice run for her.
"As much as you dont want to know whats down there the only thing worse is never knowing."
This is the best summary of subnautica period.
Or, another summary of the game could be (If you've gotten used to the game at some point) "I found an alien thing!". Cause literally some part of the game is finding new alien creatures, some of which have the intent to reinstate your life status to "Aliven't" as I sometimes call it
Love the content it’s just a slight suggestion though it would be fun if you guys had like a second channel that was like just very long videos showing what she played with less cuts, just an idea keep up the great work
If it was a recorded full episodic gameplay, I'd watch it aaall! it looks like she had soo much fun! < 333
Gotta love the good ol' "hide in the corner" strat, while there's a huge monster waiting to eat you outside 😂
"her inability to eat anything cute significantly lowered the odds of her survival"
I related so hard to that. the amount of joy I felt when I discovered chloride and didn't have to kill bladder fish anymore :D
I really like this stuff!! As someone who was also petrified of the leviathans and would practically sob every time I needed to go into the lost river, I really feel for your girlfriend.
I wish there were versions of her playthroughs that were longer! Even just unedited stuff posted to a second channel, I really want to see a sorta-gamer person experience these games all the way through. These videos are just too short for me hahaha.
i really love the quality of the video! also: the river theme of outer wilds is a nice touch ;)
Haha thanks :)
For real, that song gives my brain so many good chemicals
@@LifesNeverHumDrum dopamine hehe
0:36 "i feel like thats dangerous" yeah it probably is
7:20 Mini cooper dealership! I love it!
This was fun. Id love to see more of her actual gameplay
I love how she based up near the Ghost tree, it was always one of my favorite spots and if I had the patience or the hindsight I probably would've hauled a base down there too, but instead I was insistent on building a geothermal nature preserve in the active lava zone where I captured every single egg I could find and hatched them in their own personalized biomes. It took *ages* but it was so cool I felt like a proper scientist with my secret underwater volcano powered research station.
That's awesome

I made that exact same noise when i first met a reaper leviathan!
I should mention i am male.
The seamoth beacons, I'm dying, that's so adorable
I had a friend who loved horror games play subnautica, at first she was thinking it was going to be easy and I had to beg to her to play more, after she got the hang of it, man, she couldn't stop playing at all, finished once, twice, started a third game then got below zero, finished that game twice too.
Subnautica is such a gem, I'm glad I played it a lot.
“I don’t think I’m supposed to be here”
Famous last words
"I'm gonna scan everything in this effing ocean"
Yup. That's a subnautica player right there! xD
02:49 didn't switch to her scanner there though.
Subnautica not having coop was a missed opportunity the developers will never live down, but at least it's a fun game without it.
the third iteration has a confirmed coop for when it eventually comes out
They talked about co-op a lot, and how they loved the idea, but just couldnt really make it work with their engine, gameplay, and story limitations. Theres plenty of rumors that when the next one comes out, it will have co-op though.
@@dragonant945 I hope if thats the case that its a larger world, without player distance restrictions. Subnautica was 2k X 2k X 2k, BZ was similar i think, but with 2 players, i think 10k x 10k x 10k would work great if you didnt have to stick together. Then again, that would be pretty damn huge for a handcrafted map
Edit: The reason i mention this is because ive played a ton of survival games on 2k maps, and then got my friends into them, and once you had 3 people, anything under 16k felt pretty small. But those were all random Gen games. Even 8k could work pretty good with Subnauticas designs

@@dragonant945 where did they confirm that?
I would love to watch her full long gameplay of subnautica. It really looks fun.
This video is amazing, evil yet cute. I would LOVE to see her reaction to the sunbeam getting swallowed by the gargantuan leviathan, she'd be afraid for eternity.
Building seamoths instead of beacons is the funniest thing I ever heard.
i’ve ran into the channel last night because of subnatica (i love this game so much) and stayed watching it because of how amazing you two are together. i strive to be like this one day with my girlfriend. and honestly I’m glad to stay on this UA-cam adventure with y’all.
Your videos are always good and have sorta inspired me to introduce my girlfriend to video games. She really likes puzzles so I'm considering showing her hollow knight
Awesome!! That's a great first choice :)
This is incredibly similar to how my gf was when she first played the game. She loved the exploration, the mystery and the base building. She didn't want to eat any of the cute fish and instead just asking them if they wanted to be friends with her and she also sucked at using the cyclops where I had to steer it for her lol.
Man I miss her so much...
Her using seamoths instead of beacons is adorable 😄
The way you guy interact and the edits are amazing and ARE NOW WORTHY OF THY SUB
Love this channel, hope you guys are having good day.
Hope you're having a good day too!
Omg, I love this channel. Not even halfway through, and I'm already subbing.
Oh if she loves the first one she's gonna love subnautica 2 even more, especially bc of how much more they did with that game
For me part one is MUCH better.
“I feel like that’s dangerous” perfectly sums up the entirety of the game
6:30 you should have installed the Gargantuan Leviathan mod. She would have been TERRIFIED

Hey 3:36 i knew straight away where that music is from but i never expected such a wholesome video and overall channel to have songs from games like this in it.
I may be wrong but isn't that song from huniepop the shopping mall music
Edit: he has the music used in his videos on a list and i was yet wasn't wrong it's the waterpark one yet still huniepop.. so yeah..now i can't listen to the video without the knowledge and mental image of huniepop stuff.. nice video just unexpected wwww
Edit x2: nevermind just realized they played huniepop together they are cultured individuals so i don't feel as awkward about this wwww
You both have the same energy as Shelby & Matt from Girlfriend Reviews! Thoroughly enjoyed the content. Underrated Channel!

So, I don't know why this popped up in my feed, but boy am I glad it did. Hidden gem of a channel right here, people!
Here's a couple tips that you can use when you're playing this game one the foundation is the most overpowered item in the game you can use it to delete ancient locations debris from the ship as well as any type of tree or thing that is in your way for your cyclops you can basically delete every item in the game by using the foundation you can also use it to create sky bases since they can defy gravity the best way to do this is by building on top of one of the mountains on both the islands and building out to the void it's quite amusing watching the levins trying to get you jumping out of water also there is no build limit in the game so you can build all the way up to space but the higher you get the more lag you get also here's another tip you can actually build multiple bases on one power grid basically what you do is you make a hub system in the safe location build as many foundations bulkhead doors and reinforcements and then build all the way out to those locations that you want to base on remove the bridge that leads you there make sure you build out of water it's a lot easier and then build all way down to the place that you want and start building there on the same grid this will basically allow you to not use any type of power locations and you won't get constant warning saying you are running low on power every few seconds also building on the Islands also are pretty cool I prefer building on the base Island because there's a lot more plant life as well as food that's there for a person like myself who spent 7,000 hours in this game you could say that I enjoyed also here's another lovely tip if you build between the lava location and the Leviathan tree and put a scanner with a maxed zone on them you will find a large box just chilling there these are one of the many dead rooms that were used to find ways to stop the Leviathan from glitching through the floor and stuff if you could somehow glitch yourself through the floor and go to these rooms that are always constantly filled with resources also I think what you should do next time you and your friend should get the multiplayer mod for both of the games and you should play together I've actually had a server of 20 people and it was total chaos we were fighting over resources we were using one of the Leviathan creatures to harvest resources for us we were also constantly going at war with each other and creating factions it was total chaos we have people doing hit and run tactics by running into them with the sea moth and stealing their resources when they died it's quite fun I have a feeling you two will enjoy it also thought you like to know that subnautica three will be coming out soon and we were told that there will be a multiplayer installment already on it I'm hoping that we can bring six or four players into the world I just want to see the chaos that will cause I hope we can turn on friendly fire and turn that off that's all I have to say I hope I see you create more videos of this lovely game and I can't wait for your friend to play subnautica below zero also keep in mind in below zero there's a feature where if you go to accessibility in your options there's a highlight interactables and if you click on that you can see blueprints fish resources and stuff like that and you can change the color of it there's also in the same section PDA pause it will allow you to pause your game in your PDA also another thing in the below zero the jukebox has a unique feature in your music folder on your computer or console there will be a folder called unknown worlds in that folder it will be a subnautica folder and any music you like to listen to you can put in that folder it will show up in your jukebox allowing you to listen to it when you're doing your thing also in both games there's a feature where you can upload your own pictures to your base like fan art or cat photos you can look that up anyway I hope you enjoy this and hope to see more videos in the future.
Advice for you when giving text based advice.
You should structure a very long winded set of advice by separating them in sections instead of one supermassive paragraph.
It ends up looking overwhelming and too much to bother with so most people will just scroll past it.

Regarding the question of water in the seamoth, I have my own little headcannon to explain this:
The seamoth already contains water, and thus, there is no air to let out. The reason why you get oxygen in the seamoth is because the air is delivered straight to your oxygen tank.
The only problem with this is the "water disappearing from the glass screen of your helmet" animation that appears when getting into it.
In her defense, I also never left 4545B. I built the rocket but just didnt feel like it. I had a nice collection of bases and vehicles and it was more fun to just observe the world I had cured.

Subnautica is recognized by the Geneva Convention as a method of torture.
Just stumbled onto the channel. The Animal Crossing interludes are adorable, and I love her pokemon sweaters :)
I gotta say though, Girlfriend's base is one of the coolest I've ever seen someone build in Subnautica. Hats off to that.
Set her up with the gargantuan leviathan mod, then she can be in the pearl void.
How this channel only has 10k subs is madness. Hopefully you get receive the recognition you deserve as your videos are so entertaining.

Love the video! It’s entertaining and cute, and at the same time there is a lot of info about the game that is quite appealing.. I wanted to replay the game. Would like to see the video about your girlfriend playing subnautica below zero. It is a gem
