How to fix 2019 Mazda3 Interior Rattles

- This is how I fixed the rattles in MY 2019 Mazda sedan. I used low density foam (yellow, from a chair pad), black medium density foam, and a cut up silicon mat. The positions I placed the foam, as noted in the video, fixed all the rattles in my car.
Sometimes you may need to add a bit of extra foam if the rattle persists.
The rattles are all gone, even at low temperatures (-10 degrees C). I take no responsibility for what you may do to YOUR car; proceed at your own risk!!
You may have a similar experience, using careful progress and checking locations of rattles.
Using the fist bump technique handed down through the generations I was able to recreate the rattles in order to find the parts that were hitting or rubbing. This technique could prove useful on your car as well.
Just test drove a 100 years edition with 9k miles on the clock. What a rattle box! Unbelievable. Was massively disappointed as it looked fantastic and handled superbly. I'm not overestimating when I say there were creaks and groans from all angles! Expected much more tbh
Have a 22 GT Turbo. Started rattling after 5000 km. Thank you for this video. Spot On. If Mazda thinks this is the way to "premium" better think again.!
I have the same exact car as you, I can't agree more. Not sure if this applies to you, but I've recently started noticing creaking noises from the driver's door frame (literally besides my left ear.)

This is crazy. I too have a 22 GT and I am experiencing the same thing after 6000k. I keep hearing rattling when dilriving on thr passenger side and also some times on the driver side rattle. I'll have to check this out and see if it Resolves
@@Aspartic100 I have the same noise on my cx-50. But you wont believe its the door's weather stripping. I used some lube. it went away. Funny thing is it comes back after while when the lube dries haha
@@tahmidhasan2520 Silicone oils seem to work best for squeaky rubbers and plastics.
My 2021 had rattles everywhere, it got written off and I now have a brand new 2022, still has rattles, my solution is to crank the Bose stereo 😂
How did you get them to write it off for you ?
the rattles are in any year a the 4 gen? Its really bad. I Have a 3th gen with high mileage and not too much ratlles…

My 2019 mazda3 sedan has no rattles. Mine is the direct assembled and imported from Japan. Better QC I guess. Its the most beautiful and elegant crafted car design around in its segment. This car will look great and relevant for the next 10 years and beyond. Cheers.
My 2019 sedan was also made in Japan but I suspect because I live in a cool/cold location with very little humidity that it brings out the rattles as all the interior bits are quite stiff, the rattle on the airbag frame not withstanding. After performing all the fixes shown here in this video my vehicle has no rattles, even down to -30 degrees C. With respect to looking great for the next 10 years, time will tell as Mazda's are notorious for rust.
Nan... Mine is from Japan and it is a rattlebox Especially the one at the seatbelt. I guess the new cars are like playing a lotto! Some of us get a good car another gets some issues.

@@neilgg7460 Who keeps a car 10 years? and notorious for rust? maybe the old models, how would anyone know whether the new ones will?
@@pillred5974 nobody keeps a car 10 years. I used that number because auto manufacturers engineer vehicles to last no more than 10 years, otherwise they would go out of business. Look at battery packs for electric cars: 10 years. Catalytic converters: 8 year warranty. Etc. I doubt a direct injected engine will last 10 years with EGR carbon buildup. But, I do not care because my Mazda3 is fuel efficient and rattle free!!

I have had so many rattles with my 2020 Mazda 3. Took it in 6 times to Mazda as the display screen was rattling from day 1, still they couldn't fix it. Now the dash has rattles all over. Will try these methods and see if it makes a difference.
any improvement? my mazda dealership acts like im a paranoid drug addict with my car, but then will admit to issued, and replace things at no cost. lol
2021 Mazda 3 turbo 100 years edition here. Built in japan september of 2020. Bought the car 1 month ago. Same thing, no rattle at first, rattles start to surface after 1.5-2k KM. I have the infotament screen rattle as well as the driver window frame rattle / chatter. I fixed the infotament rattle by inserting the foam behind it in between the speaker, hopefully for good. The window / door rattle I am still monitoring if my fix had worked for good .
Same here , rattles everywhere after just 2000 km . Bought it 2 months ago ... 😢
@@KivVeigroeg69 Well, I have the solution for the cricket on the supposed window... and central pillar B... which is not where the noise comes from... let me know and I will give you the solution.
@osvaldoreyes6422 Hello ! Thank you for commenting . The rattles and etc are coming from few places . Some I located , others not yet . I have now new one coming from the drivers dor where the buttons for the windows are . When touched its squeaking and also when I close the door and pull to close it from the handle ( from inside ) its squeaking aswell ..

Tessa tape works great for squeaks and rattles.
My 2015 Mazda 6 GT built in Japan is not noisy at all. I think a lot of the Mexican built ones are the issue .
Besides , most of you drive your cars everywhere including dirt / gravel roads and stress everything inside.
I went for a test drive a few months ago and was expecting high quality and no annoying rattles (compared to a Renault for example). Well, the very first road I took with rough pavement and I could clearly identify THREE DIFFERENT RATTLES/CREAKS: one from the infotaiment screen, another one coming from the boot, and one around the glovebox. They guy from the dealership could hear them as well and was kind of ashamed. The car had 6000 km. Of course I did not buy it, and neither the salesman called me back.
My 2023 turbo hb is made in Japan. As the temperature dropped, I started to notice that it was a low-temperature noise on the dashboard in front of the front passenger. Especially at night, the noise persists. The sound will disappear or appear occasionally when the temperature rises at noon during the day. I took it to the dealership but they didn't fix the problem.
I have all of these rattles. So hard to diagnose exactly where it’s coming from, thanks a lot! So frustrating.
2024 Mazda3 with 1500km and the dash is rattling and squeaking like crazy. There's also a rattle in the B pillar by my head. Unbelievable for a new car.

..Wow!! - you guys are scaring me, I have a 2019 AWD w/ about 15,000 mi on it . It's still tight as a drum, I mean no noise! In fact I like the brand so much I just purchased a CX5 SIGNATURE edition, same color as my MAZDA 3 candy blue or whatever they call it. One thing I can't tolerate is squeaks and rattles. Both my vehicles were built in Japan, I don't know if that has anything to do with it but a lot of them are built in MEXICO.
Thank you for sharing all the info; I have a slight rattle from my CX30 seatbelt pillar. Could you do a video on how to remove the plastic trim from the B-pillar? I have taken my front door trim off and insulated almost all the wires with cloth tape and that seems to work (for my previous rattles). Apart from that the car is perfect!
Have the same in my Mazda3.. (driver side) Took to the dealer for them to drive .. said they couldn't hear anything... Hope we can find the problem!

I have this car for almost two years, and there aren't interior rattles at all.
Because you just don't notice them. These are series production car, not handcrafted Paganis, every car is identical to the other so is simply impossible there are cars like this in the video with multiple points causing rattles and other completely rattle free like yours. A piece of plastic in contact with an other piece of plastic and not properly insulated due to poor engineerig/cost reduction, rattles. End of the story. It doesn't matter if the driver it's me or Lubomir. The only way to eliminate the rattles is to ridesign the pieces in question (like they did with the HUD housing and the door upper rubber profile with the MY2020), otherwise every Mazda 3 exiting from the plant (Hofu, for the Mazda 3) will have the issues. Turn off the radio and take a bump, somewhere the dash will rattle.
@@petrolhead9123 i think it depends a lot of the weather. if the weather is with high temperatures all the year may not have rattles.

I have a rattle on the same area on the passenger dash. I tried stuffing it with foam like the video, but still rattles :( Even if I smack the dash. I know its the airbag spot too because if I grab the unit and smack the dash, the rattle will stop
When stuffing the foam, there is a side of the cover with some foam and on the other side is just plastic, should i be shoving it with the other foam, or inbetween the layers with no foam?

so u wont be able to experience the joy of this car. owning the hatchback since launch and never heard anything what comes close to a rattle. awesome outstanding and genuine exterior design with a clean and modern interior layout using quality materials on top lots of driving assistents included. u'll never get a better new car in this price range.
I had rattles in mazda 3 2019 x engine, they replaced ac heater and issue is gone. I had rattles only when ventilation was in windscreen position on 3000 rpm.

@@thomasaudrain7230 in the service they told me it was heater connected to the engine, it is all I know. I showed them when it rattles and they took the car in. In 1st gear you can show them the easiest.
I have one. The assembly quality of this car is a big shit. It`s full of rattles.

No. I have a 2021 Mazda 3. It developed the dashboard rattle at 3,000 miles. I'm going to see if the fix suggested in this video will work.
Mine is a 2022, made in Japan and unless the road is as smooth as glass will rattle incessantly.
The european versions are more crappy , 5 times to the dealership and still noises but i will add extra foam to the screan and to the glove box .

Is the rattling loud? Are you still able to hear it with music on? I was thinking of purchasing one but this scares me.
I can only hear it on bumpy roads and with no music on,I wouldn't be too concerned when considering purchase
There is always a possibility it is improved on 2020/2021's. I still don't regret getting the first year of production, as the vehicle pictured here now has no rattles.
I find you have to turn music up quite loud to drown it out completely.....and sometimes that is not what you want to do.

I have a rattle sound when driving over uneven roads or bumps. Its not there on smooth roads/highways. Is it the fix for same sound?

Where are you from brother . I can say exactly the same stuff. After 2000km it's has become rattle box .. Before that was fantastic and quiet .

2019 MY and Mazda still hasn't fixed their shitty interiors
I was seriously considering getting a 2021 Mazda 3, but this video has convinced me to look elsewhere. There is no excuse for this kind of shoddy workmanship - especially since Mazda is trying to position itself as a "premium" brand.

@@MichaelLuna I hate to say it but give it a little time. I didn't have the problem at first but after a couple of thousand kilometres I got it. It ruins the driving experience.
@@stickmanbangkok just hit about 1300 miles, and i now have rattles. Not sure if it's poor front windshield replacement or rattles emerging from other parts of the dash area. Did you fix your rattles and if so how? did you just do what this video did? much thanks

I've had a little toyota yaris for 14years and still not a rattle in it. I hope the 2021 mazda 3 is the same when I get it in August.

Well hey after they are all fixed up it makes a nice little city driver/grocery hauler. I get you though, it has been a struggle to find them all. One more around the window frame has popped up.
The door window frame? I found a fix for that on mine if so! I'll go into detail if you haven't solved it yet 7 months from now. haha Thank you for this video by the way. You are really awesome for taking the time to show us the dash fix!

@@g.l3028 Hey! Sorry for taking so long to reply. The fix is some silicone spray/or even oil to keep the that rubber from drying out. The corner piece towards the pillar, it comes off pretty easy sometimes im clumsy and it hooks onto my shirt as i get out of the car haha. Just spray that corner every now and then. I suppose it's not a forever fix but I think of it as general maintenance. (btw are you TurboMz3 by any chance?)

It def was a temporary fix, as the noise is returning. I've taken it to dealership already without much success unfortunately. But thanks for your suggestion !

2019, first year of production. My general rule is NEVER buy the first year of production of any vehicle, but due to circumstances I had a need and this presented itself. Since the vehicle pictured here now has no rattles, I am very pleased.
@@neilgg7460 I bought a 2021 Mazda 3 this past November. I have had a rattle since 3,000 miles. Damn Mazda to hell. There is really only one brand of auto left to buy that isn't at complete piece of crap: Toyota.
