If it makes you feel better, good luck with moving forward! Also...Notice how many 90's have to be run in tandem. Freight also has to run to many places without ugly 25kv overhead wires.
@@cd66061 My post referred to fully electrified main lines, and journeys which in the past had utilised electric locos. Perhaps you didn`t notice how some of the diesels shown were emitting and spreading polluting smoke as they passed along the way, spreading it far and wide. Power stations are now far cleaner and of course increasing amounts of grid electricity are provided through wind power etc. What is the problem with running class 90s in tandem? I presume only one driver is required.
@@cd66061 If it makes sense economically to electrify lines such as Paddington to the west and operate passenger services electrically on them then it should be the same for freight. If Network Rail IS charging more for freight this needs to be investigated because in the long term simpler electric locos will cost less to maintain than heavy diesels.
Plainly there isnt that much demand for freight on the WCML that Freightliner havent sewn up already....
I wanna do a loco convoy with ALL these
with coaches you can window hang from
What a waste
The answer is simple......give a tax break for electric traction surely it cant be that hard to do.....oh hang thats requires some common sense 😅😅
Common sense on Britain's railways?! 😅 Don't be ridiculous.
That still costs someone else money elsewhere
Another monumental bodge up by DB.what a waste of money.
Saving money, they are expensive to run right now
Where are the db class 90 stored
Crewe Electric Depot. You can see a few of the long term stored ones from side road and industrial estates etc. Pretty rubbish though if you are after photos.
Agree with 1 or 2 commentators - super video and music, but sell 'em ffs
Hope the silver 67 and 92's aren't stored
Thats where the other colas 67 is! Now to be used for db but i think the 90s have more to live for why cant grand central buy then and those mk4 sets and use them for the service from london to blackpool that they were gonna do? 92 035 looks like its having work done to come back to the mainline.
The Blackpool services have been cancelled and many of the sets bought by TFW
Sad so a 66 works the west coast vice a 90 madness
Whats the points of that? DB should be nationalised if they treat all their trains except the 66 so poorly (cos that f**king shed on wheels is all they care about)
DB can’t be nationalized, it’s a private freight carrier
@andrewreynolds4949 oh. Well they should replace dB with something
@@trainman86trainstramsandmore Can't legally do that, they can bid for open freight paths just like any other freight operator. They can't be forcibly shut out without justifiable reason
@@andrewreynolds4949 damn
Another example of DB getting rid of all British built Locos, so much for wanting more electirc traction this is just typical DB incompetence, hopefully Freightliner will come in for them at least theyll have the contracts to keep them running. Will the class 92s be stored next ?
Hopefully they get a new owner in Freightliner, GBRf or someone. The 92s are a bit different I'm.that they operate slightly away from the UK infrastructure on HS1 / Channel Tunnel Freight, so they aren't really classed as working in the UK. They should be okay for the time being.
@@johnson_street_IEMD let's keep our fingers crossed that someone comes in for them
It’s not DBs fault that they’re being charged ridiculous electricity costs. It’s cheaper to run diesels than electrics which is ironic
@@Nate0493 yes, of course, its ridiculous in this day and age that its cheaper to run diesel - its strange then that Freightliner continue to operate their 90s
If the government want to ban petrol ⛽️ and diesel ⛽️ how would the diesel ⛽️ trains run 🏃♂️?
It is such a beautiful country Norway . But in parts it’s so remote . Think you did very well to film what you did , considering the circumstances . But standing up for 7 hours takes some stamina . So full respect for you . Great video by the way .
Another British buit loco destination scrap heap
I was told by a driver from a UK-based operator that DB's predecessor EWS stood for Every Working (loco) Scrapped...
@@joncrawford3485And DB stands for dumb bastards!!!!!!
This is a disgrace. Do DB have any British built locos on their Rota now?
I don't think any company could or should keep a loco just because it is British build. Sentimentality and hard economic reality don't usually go together.
Yes, Class 60 and 92
@@CabSav2010 Just asking !
@@gardenogauge Not many though!
This is just a damn disgrace on the part of DB. How the HELL can they sit by and just leave them to rust away????😮
90s got pulled because they were too expensive to run apparently down to ever increasing electricity prices. Irony really should just do like Freightliner and export them to Bulgaria.
OR FL could acquire them and increase their electricity bill and at the same time reduce the use of 66s where they don't need to use one.
That angers me. Hypocrites
Sell them to Bulgaria!
What do you expect from a German Owned company. DB cannot even run Arriva well.
DB seem to be closing down / selling off Arriva one piece at a time. Arriva has recently withdrawn from Crewe / Macclesfield; I caught the Arriva bus 84 from Crewe to the Battle of Nantwich a few months before their withdrawal. Feel DB wants to pull out of the UK altogether!
oH Dear
They should fit the Class 66 diesel engine into all Class 90s & 92s
Better to re-engine the 60s with 66 engines. Far less hassle and rumoured to be the reason there is a class 60 at Longport for feasibility studies. At the end of the day it doesn't look like DB has the work for the locos it has without adding more to the serviceable fleet.
